• Silvia (3/5): Il nome promette quel che poi non mantiene. Mi spiace perchè il signore che ci ha accolti è gentile. - La posizione è davvero luxury. Personale gentile. Purtroppo di luxury ha solo il nome (e la posizione). Abbiamo trovato sporco, impolverato, e poi troppo piccolo. Sembrava altro dalla descrizione. Bollitore bruciato, contenitore dell’acqua del caffè mezzo ammuffito, ragnatele negli angoli della stanza, polvere, l’unica sedia presente in velluto piena di polvere, cuscini scomodi, vetri PIENI di manate/ditate, pressione dell’acqua della doccia terribile, peli nella doccia, bagno l’ho pulito io appena arrivata con le salviette antibatteriche. Insomma mi dispiace ma un disastro, me ne sarei andata se non fosse costato una fucilata. Non ho voluto perdere tutti quei soldi e spenderne altri per un’altra struttura.

Black mould on the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. A very dirty bathroom fan. No light bulbs in the bedside lamp. The rooftop terrace was in need of repairs.

La caffettiera inutilizzabile da quanto era sporca e impolverata. Il bagno presentava polvere dappertutto di molti anni e muffa sul soffitto. Il riscaldamento non funzionava. E il condizionatore era talmente pieno di polvere che usciva un filino di aria.

The suite was on the small side, but to be honest the description did say "mini suite". The majority of photos showed the other more modern rooms, so the only advice would be to make sure you do your homework as to which one you actually booked. The bathroom could do with an upgrade, especially the shower.

• Laurie (10/5): - We stayed in the rooftop unit and it was amazing. The room was cute and we loved having the rooftop lounging areas to relax on. The hotel was very accommodating, they let us check in early and check out late due to our flight times. We slept really good and the AC was very powerful (not common in Europe). The location is in great proximity of all of touristy spots, shopping, and cafes (Coliseum and Vatican City are about a 20-25min walk). This location is dated but that’s honestly why we loved it so much, it had cozy feeling like you were staying at a relatives place.

• Siw Marika (6/5): Sentralt i Roma - Veldig sentralt i Roma. Leilighetene kunne disponere terrasse og takterrassen. Hyggelig personal. Det kom dårlig frem i beskrivelsen at det var felles terrasse. Rommet var litt for lite for tre personer, synes vi. Dusjen var udelikat, det rant ikke skikkelig ned i sluket så det samlet seg mye vann i dusjen. Det så ut som det var skitt i hjørnene i dusjen.

Frank tried for the things that didn’t work but they just didn’t It needs an upgrade to be a 3 star! I didn’t have a safe working the 4 nights I stayed. So I had to carry documents and money all the time and wasn’t ideal! Also the bathroom definitely needs to be redone. There’s only a window in the room that faces the patio with some lounge chairs. Fortunately there was nobody using them otherwise would be noisy and with cigarette smell bc they are allowed to smoke in that area facing the room . And no privacy. I wouldn’t stayed there again. WiFi didn’t work. The owner tried his best but in vain

• Simona (7/5): Great potential but lacks maintenance - The terrace, location were great. Also the host was friendly and nice. The room needs deep cleaning, please get rid of the mold in the shower, I didn’t feel comfortable staying there. I took a room with private terrace, but anyone staying in the same place could come up there. Also the terrace itself requires some maintenence as some of the wooden boards were loose with nails coming out. There were also ants in the room.

The room was dirty, it had ants, the bathroom shower head was plastic and looked like it would explode, the bathroom shower was taped together with silver duct tape, there was mold all over the bathroom, dust everywhere. I could keep going but you get the point. The location and balcony were the only positive things I could say. For as much as we spent I expected more. I would recommend staying anywhere else.
• Amy (2/5): - This place is super small, dirty, and worn down. The only thing I liked was the balcony but felt guilty using it because there were other guests rooms tied to it and I did not want to disturb them. It is not worth the price and I would recommend staying anywhere else.

It was my boyfriend’s 30th and I messaged ahead and they decorated the room and provided a cake and Prosecco. Anything we needed during our stay the staff were so accommodating, I couldn’t recommend it enough!

Room needs a good clean and had dirty towels in shower. Shower was old, broken door and mouldy. The AC spat out ice all night onto the bed and floor even when we turned it off. Wifi was horrible. Stray cats crying outside from 6am-7:30am.

• Valerie (4/5): - The property was in a good location. However, there are some major issues. The listing stated that it had an elevator and was accessible. It was not. The elevator could only be reached after going up a couple of stairs. The elevator in no way could hold a wheelchair. There were other stairs to navigate and we had to climb a 2 story outside, circular staircase to get to our room. The room did not even have a chair in it and the shower needed some work. The patio was nice but did not make up for the deficiencies. We have previously stayed in much nicer accommodations in Rome at a lower cost. The Shali is definitely not luxury and the accessibility information is inaccurate and needs to be changed to not accessible.
• Justin Barney (8/5): - We loved staying here! It was our first time in Europe and Italy, and it felt like we were staying in the heart of Rome. Everything was walkable, and we felt very safe. Even the locals said we’re staying in an amazing spot. The only downsides are that the room is a bit small and the shower flooded, but we would stay here again if we were to come back!

Staff is only there between 8-10am 4 physical keys to get into room Shower did not drain This is not a hotel by any means if you like to go on vacation with random strangers and stay on the fourth floor with four other families, this is the perfect place for you other than that I would avoid at all cost. Shops, cafes. restaurants and tourist areas. were walking distance. We felt very safe. I will stay here again.

• FATIMA (10/5): - Shali Luxury Suites is an amazing place to stay. Frank is kind and knowledgeable, always ready to help with anything you need. The suites are conveniently located within walking distance of most historical landmarks, plenty of cafes and restaurants, and high-end boutiques. Though the property is on the 4th floor of an old building, we were pleasantly surprised by the suite’s privacy, cleanliness, and modernity. The balcony is beautiful, offering a perfect escape for relaxation.

Bathroom in particular was small old and just adequately cleaned. Met my expectations for a budget room but at luxury prices. Due to a death in family we had to cut our stay short. Only way to contact hotel was via booking.com. Hotel took several days to reply which was not helpful given I was trying to let them know of change. As above
• Savanah L (10/5): - Where to start. We loved staying at the SHALI. From the second you walk in you are greeted and helped with your bags. Keep note this hotel is on the 4th floor with only stairs or an old rickety elevator. The bedrooms were clean and well kept. I loved that most of the modern amenities were here including shampoo and body wash, you don’t always get that at European hotels. My only complaint about the room was the bed, it was horrible. I am somewhat picky though so it may not bother you. The location of this hotel is PERFECT! It’s exactly where you want to be, in the heart of Roma. You can pretty much walk anywhere from here. We even walked to the coliseum, granted that was a very long walk but you could do it. Trevi Fountain is about 10 minutes away as well as the Spanish steps. I almost forgot the best part. You will love the patio on the fourth and fifth floors. They are so welcoming and inviting! We ate dinner up there and had a glass or two of wine in the evenings. The SHALI over all exceeded my expectations and I would definitely go back (especially if they invested in new beds). Thank you SHALI for making our first trip to Rome memorable.

The owner is very nice and supportive. 3 recommendations: 1) if the rooftop patio can do something to prevent the mosquito attack; 2) the facility can provide laundry equipment; 3) the refrigerator can be a little bigger, will get a 5 star rating.
• Michel (6/5): Location Top! Apartment was r bellow our standard of living. - I really like the location the host was very noisy with his coughing. The location is also a very noisy so if you’re trying to get some rest it is not the ideal at all. The cups and silverware were fully dirty left from previous clients and we were obliged to clean them in order to enjoy a cup of coffee. This is not a luxury accommodation when it comes to a normal hygiene standards

The apartment is very small ..but you are aware of this on booking but it is worth it for the outside terrace, which is shared but feels private as you are the only apartment on that floor Felt the bathroom especially looked very tired!

• Lavanya (6/5): Good if you want an affordable central location, but needs a deep clean! - Good location, safe, the owner was nice to interact with, the terrace was nice, we were able to leave our bags for a couple of hours after checking out. It really needed a deep clean - there was a thick layer of dust on the side of the bed, on lamps, on the kettle and coffee machine, and many other surfaces + the inside of the AC was really clogged with dust. They also charged us a 30 euro late check-in fee which was not communicated previously. The shower leaked but that was ok because there was the option for daily housekeeping.
• Taylor (4/5): - My wife and I knew we were booking here more for the location than anything else and it was still a disappointment. It is a 2 minute walk from the Spanish Steps / conveniently located near the Spagna metro - but these are the only positives I can honestly come up. The central air vents (not the AC) were stuffed full of dust and do not appear to have been cleaned in months. After inspecting the bed upon checking in, we found dead bugs folded into the base sheet of the mattress... I understand the calcium present in Rome's water can make cleaning difficult, but the shower was full of soap scum and looks like it had never been given more than a courtesy rinse as it's "cleaning". Frank may be available 24/7 by WhatsApp but the hotel is not staffed 24/7 - an important distinction as Frank appears to only be there to check guests in. The front door is rarely locked, meaning security is entirely contingent on an evelator and the expectation a staircase door on the hotel's floor remains closed. Something that a guest could easily open and no "staff" would know of until the next time they show up for a check in.

Even the very twisty staircase up to it. I was on Vacation for 2 weeks, and staying there and the location was the best part of it❤️

It was not squeaky clean, dusty everywhere, including towel racks which I had to ask them to clean twice. Worst of all, they had a major problem with water leaking from the shower into the bathroom and living room. They did fix it but not until the last day which btw, we had to leave early for them to fix. The host was a nice guy but the property was not professionally run like a hotel. False advertisement. The patio was nice though and location was great.

It was fine for what we were looking for. Convenient to transportation and very walkable.

It is a small property with only 3 rooms. Service is great and Frank, the manager cleaned my room as requested as soon as I asked as I was coughing quite a bit from the visible dust on all the vents. The bathroom is very small and tricky to get into the shower as the door only opens up about 45 degrees due to the bidet being in front of it. The room I had was quite small but I was travelling solo, so it was fine. I would stay here again for the location and the security but would not necessarily call it "luxury." The hotel tax is advertised as 3.50 Euros pp/nt but I was charged 7.00 Euros per night, so will be asking them about this.
