Guest Reviews
- Spekka (8/5): All I could possibly need. - I have stayed here at least 8 times when flying out on 6am flights the next day. It is the cheapest and most convenient hotel near Basel airport that can be reached on foot in less than 15 minutes, carrying cabin baggage and hauling a 23kg-sized hold-bag at 3.45am in the morning in time for check-in at 4am.
Yes, the double-room is tiny and there's barely enough space to put a large 23kg sized case down, but there is actually enough room by the door next to the toilet to do physical exercise, such as one-step Shotokan Karate practice. One could even practice the Tekki Shodan kata with their back to the wall and facing the bed.
Yes, the walls are thin. No, there's no lift. Yes, the toilet and shower are tiny in the rooms that have them, but for goodness sake, it's 60 euros for two people and your own shower/toilet. Other hotels not-so-nearby are more than double the price and require a taxi fare to get to check-in so early. For food, you just bring it with you and heat it up in the microwave at reception if you want something warm. There's a vending machine with stuff in it. I usually just bring stuff from the train station enroute.
The thing is, the girl at reception has always been absolute platinum when we've stayed, even remembering me from my previous visit and picking up on conversations we'd had last time. Staff in high-class hotels have to get training on this sort of banter. She's friendly, smiley and humorous. An asset to the place.
Since my last review a few years ago, the path from the airport to the hotel has been improved and properly paved. It's no longer necessary to go over the wooden bridge and through a dodgy tunnel. Best come out on the French side of the airport on the bottom floor. Turn left and walk along the covered walkway to the multi-storey car park. Keep right around it and go straight on and you'll get to a signpost for St Louise. Follow the bike path. Cross the motorway bridge and take first right. It's about 100m after that.
If it's raining, you'll get wet between the multi-storey car park and hotel, so do check the weather-radar in advance and prepare accordingly. You'd be best off with a torch or your phone in the dark from the motorway bridge to the hotel, but I've done it without.
I've done all-nighters at the airport, but you get "characters" there and it gets cold and the seats are agony. I'll be back. Can't wait, cos it usually means the start of holidays.
- Jeremy (8/5): - We had a wonderful stay! Know what you are getting yourself in for. Rooms en suite, get towels, rooms without do not not. They sell them for €3 each.
- Carole Ann (8/5): - We ordered the breakfast which was basic but adequate.
Coffee was good.
- Oskar (6/5): - No towels in either the room for the sink (without soap or anything similar) or the seperate bathroom/the shower room. The bathroom floor was extremely sticky and didn’t seem to be cleaned for a long time.
The blanket was torn and not what you’d expect in a hotel. The walls are not soundproof at all, I heated everything that was going on on the floor, and not just right outside my door.
- David (6/5): - Unfortunately very hot (heat wave), no fan or screens on windows meant we got mosquito bites and was difficult to sleep. Enjoyed the bats hunting just outside the window- they might have helped with the mosquitoes.
Shared toilet light didn’t stay on when the door closed - needed to use phone light.
- Maja (10/5): - Wonderful customer service by everyone especially lovely Helin. She was amazing and so very helpful !!! Location is convenient to the airport for the flights as well as to take a bus to Basel city.
- 814raphaelh (2/5): DON'T forget anything in your room!!!! - A good budget option for overnight stay but DON'T forget anything in your room!!!! A person calling herself a special name (no surnames because of security reasons!!) answers first but then not anymore UNLESS you put accor customercare in copy. You won't get it back, the text doesn't make sense and the tone directly is opposite with false axccusations when you put accor in copy. No need to phone as there is nobody to help and they cannot phone outside France and don't get back to you via e-mail. They practically steal your things and keep it. ONE Star is far too much for this.
- Julie (10/5): - It may not be 5* luxury but Hotel F1 is fun, clean, comfy and convenient. The staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had a great time and would recommend. Walking directions from airport: turn immediately left, and follow covered walkway next to the open car park, walk alongside F4 multi-story; under tunnel at end, follow pedestrian footpath to the road, take a left then turn right, over motorway bridge and first right.
- George (2/5): - There was no receptionist at this hotel and the automated machine wouldnt accept our reservation number. The call box at the side of the machine called someone who didnt know what hotel we were at and was no help.
The booking process didnt indicate an unmanned hotel and I'm sure this hotel will tey to charge me even though i couldnt get in.
Avoid this place at all costs
- rods554 (6/5): Better than the reviews of old - I read the reviews for this hotel with a degree of trepidation having already booked two rooms for myself and friends. However, whilst it is not the prettiest hotel from the outside (frankly it looks like a small prison), it is bright clean and friendly inside - and there is an argument that you get what you pay for. The hotels amenities are limited, our rooms did not have an en-suite. There is no dining room only the option of a very simple breakfast of cereals and some bread. We ate out elsewhere using the hotel purely as a place to sleep at night and for that it did exactly what it said on the tin. It is not a five star hotel, but it delivers exactly what it promises in a clean bright cheerful fashion.
- David (8/5): - Cheap hotel for Eurovision hotel. No en suite, but perfectly OK. Ignore negative reviews
- e (4/5): - The service was poor. Not even towel to take shower. The only good thing about the hotel, it is walking distance from the Airport.
- Johan (4/5): - Detta var brandvarnaren. Övertapad. Översvämning på toa. Inga handukar.
- Michael (8/5): - Overall good for the money. Property needed a little maintenance. Doors were tempermental and in need of attention. Breakfast options were very limited. Staff was very helpful and pleasent. I would stay here again and recommend it for a budget minded traveller.
- Verified traveler (10/5): A step up from a hostel - Staff was super friendly. We dropped our bags off at noon but ended up checking in early for just a small fee. Walking distance from BSL airport. It is a step up from a hostel. Well worth the price for two people and for the privacy. Didn’t love the conditions of the shared bathrooms, but for the price, I would totally get a room here again.
- din0id (2/5): HORRIBLE.!!!!!! - HORRIBLE.!!!!!!
I stayed one night, I will never return or even to their affiliated hotels.! Reception very rude, toilets without toilet paper and soap, shower without towel and soap,,they kept the deposit without saying anything.!!!!!!!
They should be ashamed of themselves.!!!!
- V7503DBchloer (8/5): Easy for a late/early flight - We had a very early flight so spent a night here.
We arrived at the airport the night before and had a nightmare finding the hotel. According to the website it’s a simple 20 minute walk. However it is so complicated to get there because of the main roads. In the end after 40 minutes of walking we had to get a taxi.
When we arrived it was easy to check in with the machine outside and then find our room. The room had a shared bathroom which we knew when we booked it.
The bathroom and bedroom are both nothing fancy, however do the job on a budget for a quick night stay.
A €60 deposit was taking from our account the day of our stay, however was quickly refunded after we left.
We were able to find the airport by walking along the bike path on the way back.
I wouldn’t stay here for longer than a night but it was perfect for what we needed.
- 888nuriav (2/5): Horrible - Dirty, broken sheets and duvet. You need to pay extra if you want a towel. We booked it because we needed to get an early flight in the morning and it was close to Basel airport, likely we got there very late at night so we did not have to spend long time there …..
- Zuber Mohammed (10/5): - Very easy
- Mirjon (2/5): A lot of inconsistencys - Check out is at 12 and my flight on the same day isn’t until 9pm what do I do with a large bag for 9 hours? I was made aware by an email asking how my experience was which confused me as I had told staff I would be back at 4pm but the issue is the staff never seemed to be the same I was only there 3 days but morning staff different to evening staff I mean fair enough it does have 24 hr access with a code so if course staff changed on a daily basis I was seeing new faces every time but luckily I was able to prove I left stuff in there by telling the staff exactly what was in the bag I had the intention of coming back at 4 and thwat was made clear to the staff the previous evening I was told it wouldn’t be a problem till I found myself locked out I had passport in the bag so there isn’t a way to prove who I am without going in there and opening said bag I’m disappointed in that particular aspect
- Jez (2/5): - Absolute dump. Noisy. More a hostel than a hotel. No toilet or shower in room. charge extra €3 just for a towel. parking was decent and luckily we only stayed there for a few hours.
- Neil (6/5): - Close to airport ideal if plane hoping and need a cheap overnights accommodation guy on reception was helpful don’t forget a physical bank card to pay deposit Apple Pay not accepted
- Maria (4/5): - Proximity to the aeroport.
- Vlad (8/5): - The property is good for a night stay. You have to leave the car outside so you can go and check in to get the gate code, if you arrive a bit late the are looks a bit abandoned. Not sure if it’s part of the service but we had no towels in the room.
- James (4/5): - Very very basic, ok for an overnight stop nothing more
- Paul (4/5): - No aircon or fan so room was stinking hot. Had to open window but no flyscreen so insects came in. Room lost power during the night but hall power stayed on.
- Mario (8/5): - The room was ok. Clean bed and pillows. Shower has hot and cold water. Tissues, towels, and soap were provided. It was quite hot in the room though. No aircon. 1 window that opens wide but there's lots of bugs flying outside as it was summer time. The checking-in wasn't bad. A machine is at the left side of the entrance kind of like an ATM machine. Just had to follow the instructions (putting in your confirmation number and press verifying /validate). Make sure to take a picture in case the machine does not print. The problem was walking from the airport to the hotel. It's about 10 - 5minutes and google maps doesn't really help much specially at night time (we arrived at midnight). The pathway was a bit dodgy specially the tunnel bit. There's no light on the road unless a car passes by.
For those that needed to walk and go there from Basel airport: go out on the France side. And turn left towards a parking area called F4. Keep walking all the way to the end of the parking / building then at the end, head to the left corner of the open area where you need to go up a stairs covered by leaves / grass so it's hard to see. You'll see a wooden bridge which then goes to the tunnel. Go in the tunnel, cross the street and follow the signs that says St Louise. After you reach and crossed overpass (Highway below), turn right. The street is quite dark at night but it's there.
- Paul (8/5): - As advertised
- Marialena (4/5): Poor stay - do not recommend - Arrived at the hotel at 1am and Had trouble with the check in process (self check in) and after about 15minutes of repeat tries I had to call someone. The room was a 2 single bed(because we were 2 people) upon opening the door 1 of the 2 beds was undone. Unfortunately no one had cleaned the room prior. I should also inform you that the rooms don’t have individual showers and toilets which I didn’t seem to notice when booking this hotel. We informed the lady and she gave us a different room which was 1 bed 1 1/2 which unfortunately made things difficult for us as we were not looking to share a bed! This room has a private shower and a toilet but they are tiny! I wouldn’t recommend this property!
- H89DXrichardo (2/5): Makes Bates motel look inviting - Upon arrival we were all in jovial spirits after reading some of the awful reviews online about the hotel from hell ‘apparently’ we assumed people were overreacting and we didn’t really BAT an eyelid. Unfortunately we got more than we bargained for. When we reached entrance the receptionist had told us that ‘check in was now closed’ so we were to use the machine outside to check in. She then seemed delighted to tell us we could have two towels between 4 of us. We checked into our rooms and it was absolutely roasting making sleep almost impossible but all we could smell was a staleness like an animal or human had died in room only a few hours before. After looking under the bed for evidence we found none. Likely it was moved. As we then tried to sleep we were rudely awaken by a bat. I was met my screams from my friend when the bat was flying around room. We couldn’t get it out so I decided to head outside and sit at reception. At this point it was a nicer bit too sit at, and a bit cooler than the room. I didn’t get much of a break however and soon took over as the receptionist at hotel albeit a bit more efficient. A few guests didn’t know how to check in so I helped them out until a German couple couldn’t find their check in info on machine. I told them to press the buzzer and see if anyone comes down. She arrived looking pissed off that she had to do some work and then proceeded to tell them the booking was cancelled a day before, which I believe happens alot at hotel. She was very abrupt with them for no real reason as they had spare rooms anyway. After the couple were sorted I was given a room upgrade with friend to sleep for two hours. The room upgrade was just as smelly but offered a bunk bed and two singles. Thankfully it was a little cooler than the standard rooms however only had a sink with no soap. Overall I would be hesitant to even give this hotel 1/10 and it’s definitely not fit for humans.
- Oliver (10/5): - This is your only walkable option to the BSL/MLH airport for that early flight. Rooms are tiny, but clean, with a nice interior and very inexpensive. Make sure you have your confirmation number ready, not just your Orbitz itinerary number as you'll likely have to check in at a machine to get the building and room code. A great option if you understand what you are booking.
- Bruce (2/5): Book at your peril! - Not a good experience. 15 minutes walks from the airport with zero signage. Run down and generally not very pleasant.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Overnight due to late flight arrival time restricting onward travel. Walked to hotel from airport although had to use torch for last few yards due darkness.
Staff helpful, room as expected. No complaints.
- larisao155 (6/5): One night spent here, close to the Airport - So we choose this Hotel for 1 night only because it is close to the EuroAirport Mulhouse - Freiburg - Basel and it was cheap. The online check in was easy on their App -Accor, and the double room with private bathroom was very clean! The sheets and towels super clean. But the room small for 2 adult people. We had shower gel and toilet paper in the bathroom and this is good because there is no close store to the Hotel that we could walk and buy.
Take this into account. I recommend it just for transit and to save some money like for 1 night. The staff it was not at the reception at the moment we checked in, it was 7 p.m. but in the morning some guy was there.
- Lewis (2/5): - There were bed bugs and the lady at the reception brushed it off like it was nothing. I’ve had many issues with bed bugs in the past and for her to be so dismissive was strange. We didn’t even stay the night, ended up hooking somewhere else
- kim (6/5): Value for money stay - Value for money
- Mario (4/5): - The staff were not friendly. The front desk did not want to answer simple questions about the area and transportation. The toilets and showers were dirty. Bring your own toilet paper. We stayed one night and that was enough. I won't stay there again. It is 1.5 kilometers from the airport. It's ok if you arrive late to the town and are in transit to a better hotel
- Martyn (8/5): - Lots of bad reviews for this hotel but for us it was exactly as advertised. It’s basically really close to Basel-Mulhouse airport and is an inexpensive, no frills place to stay the night before your flight. The St Louis la Chaussee train station is a 5 minute walk away were you can get a cheap return ticket to Basel. It is right next to the A35 motorway but the noise didn’t bother us. You can walk to and from the terminal from the hotel but give yourself some extra time as the signage at the airport is diabolical! Our booking wasn’t on their system (the only time that’s happened on hotels.com) but the staff were helpful and found a solution promptly so no complaints.
- Johannes Alexander (10/5): - A simple, clean hotel, walkable from the airport with good onward connections to Basel city via the nearby rail and distribus stops.
Fairly priced with friendly staff who speak English and French.
- curley69 (8/5): Very kind staff at reception. - Writing to thank you for being so kind to my 19 year old son.. first time travelling solo, ..the room was perfect.. small, clean perfect and walking distance from the airport...and the price was around €45 and included Breakfast , you won't get much better than that.
- paulbI2765YV (2/5): No Communication if there is a problem, they just cancel and leave you without accomodation! - Tried to book this hotel through booking.com. The hotel tried to take payment directly but failed. I contacted my credit card company who advised they were doing it wrong and needed to use 4d security. I tried to call, message via booking.com platform and emailed, but they did not respond and just cancelled the booking. Left us in a terrible situation last minute and had to panic book somewhere else. Not surprised they have such a low rating!
- Georgios (10/5): Worth it - An affordable choice for anyone’s budget. Basic needs are covered in full. Friendly staff, easy check in
- 932martonm (2/5): horrible - ! Do not take the taxi recommended by the reception, the taxi driver charged me 30 euro for the 3 (!) minute trip to Basel airport.
The heater is only working on max, woke up sweating, needing to switch it off, then after a while I was cold. Ruined my sleep.
There is only communal bathroom cabins.
Avoid this place!
- Ethan (6/5): The bottom line - Basic hotel. Good reception service. No frills but close to airport so served its purpose.
- Michael (6/5): Not accessable - Jaqcue was awesome - he tried to find
suitaitable rooms - but with no li
There was nothing i could use.
- Mohamed (2/5): - The hotels was not good small rooms, stuff not helping, the candy machine not working, shopping locations too far, no taxis no uber ,really was not worth it.
- Anna Christine (6/5): - Our stay was very basic yet comfortable somehow, you get what you pay for. The property is close to the Saint Louis La Chausee station with trains that takes you to Colmar and Strasbourg if you're going to explore the Christmas Markets like we did. I would suggest to highlight in the description that the bathrooms are common and is not inside the room. Also, towels are not provided and that it is charged separately. Reception are not manned all the time so make sure you use the red telephone the front desk to page them so they can attend to you. Aside from that, we did have a comfortable stay.
- Freddy (6/5): - Need somewhere to stay near the Basel Airport for an early night flight. This hotel was cheap and fit my needs. I would reccomend it for 1 night but I would look for something else if you plan to stay mutiple nights. There is no soundproofing in this hotel and you can hear talking, doors, and other noises very easily, bring ear plugs!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - I found hair in the bed.
- Abs (10/5): - Excellent location and hotel to stay.
Great facilities but just needed more cleaner toilets and shower room as the toilets were out of paper and very dirty for more than a day.
- G. (8/5): - Gettin in the gate with a taxi. Roads were very confusing.
- Kris (6/5): - It was difficult to find the right path to the entrance late evening. As a backpacker, firstly choose the larger parallel road with street lights and after 15 min walking arrived at the closed back door with no signs where the entry is. Later found the small dark path on the other side of property, with no signs, no lights that it could be the right way in. People arriving later had the same problem, showed them the way from faraway. A vending machine and a microwave in common area but no kettle for making a beverage, couldn't leave window open - small insects drawn to lights falling on bed..
- rachel (4/5): - Its a 20 minute walk to airport on a poorly lit road. If you need to be close to the airport stay here. If you have time stay further and take a taxi. It was clean and actually quite quiet but didnt smell nice and we sweltered.
- Ruth (8/5): - The staff was very nice. Rooms very tiny and no air conditioner. Being on first floor didn’t want to leave window open no. Make sure that if you want to have a private bathroom in room to book for one. I almost missed this when booking. But for a cheap room to catch a flight out of Basel it was good and the walk to airport was safe.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Decent for the price - Given it’s half the cost of anywhere else nearby, it’s decent enough.
The beds are comfy, the Wi-Fi is good, plenty of showers and toilets available.
They don’t have towels so you buy them for €3… but they are essentially a microfibre cloth rather than a towel.
It’s a short walk from the airport but make you exit from the French side… if you leave from Swiss exit it’s near impossible to get there on foot.. and a taxi will be over €50!
- Anthony (2/5): Nothing good about this place. - These rooms at high price are metal containers staked on each other, and after a day of Sun, like an oven, with no Airconditon or fan, a window that opens strait over half of the bed, and as it is country side hundreds of all types of insects share you room and bed.
Went to reception to ask for moskito coils but there sugestion was to close the window while in the room was about 35°c.
A person slightly overwieght cannot go in the bathroom as tiny like the Uk telefone box.
- Arend (8/5): Sleep and go - Value for money, het is schoon en bed is prima.
- Charles (6/5): - A basic hotel within walking distance of airport. Staff very friendly and helpful. However it is very hot during summer and the building has no insulation from the heat. Poor shower areas with no ventilation or space only adds to the hotbox feel. This hotel does its job for a quick stopover for a flight at a low cost.
- Simon (2/5): Only good if you are on a tight budget. - Claims to be a hotel, when a better description is a hostel.
Pictures and information are misleading, plus they were not able to provide two single beds as requested, resulting in an awkward night in a double bed as they were fully booked.
Around 15 minutes walk along unlit paths and didn't feel comfortable walking to the airport.
- Helen (10/5): - No frills with a Basic and small room, which we knew before booking. Very clean and friendly staff. Ideal for a overnight stop to or from airport - walkable in distance but a taxi was reasonable too at just €7.5
- Romina (10/5): Muy buena opción! - Excelente!!
- Felix (8/5): - Very small room and bathroom.
- Alannah (6/5): Long wait to get into room - Room and bathroom was clean. Bed was a little hard but was to be expected.
My greatest disappointment was having to wait 45 minutes to receive my room key as the hotel couldn't claim the funds from hotels.com from my booking (which was fully paid at my end). Instead of giving us the room key and sorting out the issue, we had to wait in a humid reception area with not so much as an apology.
- Benedicte (10/5): - Very friendly staff and nice location.
- Evan (2/5): Bring your own fan in summer. This is a tinderbox! - One of the worst places I’ve stayed in. I’ve been in better backpackers!
They’ve just had a renovation. It appears there are heaters for winter, but nobody thought it was a good idea to put cooling in.
On a 30c+ day, there was not even a desk fan to keep me cool at night. Opening the window brought in a small breeze and a lot of insects.
Despite paying extra for a private bathroom, they still wanted to charge €3 for a towel. Here’s a tip: save €3 and use your bed cover instead.
The 40c/day room tax quoted is incorrect. They charged me €1.85/day!
This hotel (and I suspect the entire F1 brand) is a blight on the Accor chain that owns it.
This place is cheap and it shows. You’d be better off paying a little more and staying somewhere else.
- Wah Jin (10/5): - Like the friendly staff tgat check us in
- Burhan (2/5): Don’t pay a deposit! Stay away from this hotel! - Did not received my deposit after stay. After contacting they said we cannot do anything for you, please contact HQ. But they are unavailable. Very bad service.
- Claudio (6/5): - It's ok just because it'ss cheap
- Verified traveler (6/5): - When people open the windows they see each other and the room, so there's a little privacy in the summer. Also, it was very hot on the arrival
- Stephane (10/5): Good 1 night stay - I had a pleasant night at the hotel because i knew the hotel concept and what to expect.
It is a Formula 1 hotel for 30ish€ a night, not the Ritz Carlton. Bathroom/showers are in the hallway, bring your own towel or get one for 3€.
The hotel was neat. The bedroom was clean, with a clean double bed, a sink, a tv, a table and 2 chairs. Enough to spend the night befote my flight. It is located 15 min by foot from the airport, with a clearly indicated pedestrian walkway.
The staff was excellent, very helpful to get food delivered in the evening, very courteous.
If needed, I will stay there again.
- Emma (8/5): Clean, basic and cheap - Basic, but close to the airport and cheap!
- Stephanie (8/5): - The wall papers in the rooms and the washrooms were nice
- Marcel (6/5): OK für den Preis. - Ich fande es eigentlich recht akzeptabel, wenn das Hotel nicht beim Heizen gesparrt hätte, wäre auch eine höhere Bewertung drin gewesen.
- Anastasios (4/5): 😡 - Reception not very helpfull, works were in process and lot of noise.
Whatever I asked the reception, she was replying in french “no”. No potable water
- James (2/5): Just awful - Just awful. Rotting building. Entire corridors roped off and unusable. Unsanitary with only one working toilet for the entire floor. The staff, sorry the gentlemen at the counter appears to be aware of all of the failings but will book you in anyway. Should be closed and condemned. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The low review scores are truly deserved. However, the location and the price are adequate (it is next to switzerland).
Price performance is fitting, but I would pay 10-20 more per night to have it a bit cleaner.
The room was ok.
1 night only people, it's enough.
- MikeK (10/5): - It is a clean and friendly hotel nearby the Basel airport, 3 minutes of taxi ride or 15 minutes by walking from the airport. The room is clean with a sink for washing face and brush teeth, sheets are all nicely changed, staff is very helpful and breakfast is good. There are community shower and bathroom, however, you need to bring your own towels and soap. It is only one tenth of the price of the most hotels in the City of Basel during the Art Basel time. There is a small train station nearby, about five minutes of walking, the train will take you to Basel. Only one stop you will be at St-Louis train station, immediately outside the station has a metro line #3 taking you to the famous Spalentor Gate, or taking two stops on the train you will be at St. Johann station, outside there are many good restaurants, one big supermarket too. You will find the metro line #1 to the Marktplatz. Also, you can take the train to Bahnhof SBB, from there you can go anywhere in Europe. I saw many solo travelers and school children were staying in the F1 hotel too. There are always bad people around when you are in any remote area just using your caution. I will give the helpful staff all the credits for helping me out through my stay. Thank you ladies.
- Verified traveler (2/5): The Worst hotel experice ever!! - It is hostel, not even close to motel.
No air condition. Hard to find transportaton. Even Uber briver does not want to come.
No private toilet/Bethroom.
20 min to airport by walk. Means definately it is not airport hotel. No sutlebus.
It is cheap, but it should be under $20 to stay.
- Elizabeth (4/5): Room OK, staff disgraceful! - We had a late flight so just wanted somewhere to get a couple of hours sleep. The room and accommodation in itself were adequate for what we needed but unfortunately the member of staff we dealt with spoilt it and left a bad 1st impression.
We arrived and the lady on reception spoke barely any English, she wrote an amount on paper to pay. I showed her the booking confirmation (it also confirmed in French that the booking was paid in full). She just kept saying no and tapping the amount. I showed her on my banking app that it had been paid but she still wouldn't accept it and kept ranting in French. I called Hotels.com to sort, she called the hotel but the receptionist just kept rejecting the call. She was now on her mobile and half a dozen more people had come in, she completely ignored them all for 20-30mins while still rejecting calls from hotels.com. Eventually the lady on the phone said she'd take it to her supervisor and subsequently the receptionist came back and said OK. We arrived at the hotel around 11 and got in our room after midnight.
The rooms are good enough for a night or two. The bathrooms are not the best but again sufficient. Taking everything into account I wouldn't avoid this chain but would go out of my way/budget to book something else next time and certainly won't use this particular hotel again. Not a good impression at all!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - the lowest ranked motel i have ever been in, i missed the information about the place having just public showers and toilets and not so much maintenance in general.the windows don't block the light very well and the noise from outside gets in the room
- Kamran Malik (8/5): - Very good place for price. .. close to Swiss and Germany. I would stay here again.
- dipen (2/5): Bad experience. - Warst experience. For other travelers free advice pls pay little more. And see other hotel.
- Angela (2/5): Awful - The hotel is on the side of the highway. It has shared toilets and showers. The toilets were in a worse state than many portable loos that I have come across. The room was cold and even though there was a radiator, there was no way to control the temperature. The entire room only had 1 plug so charging electronic devices was difficult. The foyer has a vending machine which was empty. Towels cost extra to use but are not available since the fron desk isn’t manned for most of the time. The walls are also very thin and I heard everything that was happening in the rooms next to me and in the corridor. I’ll never stay there again. It was not worth what I paid for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and close to Basel airport, walking distance,
Very friendly staff. Small but clean room.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Didnt feel safe - The area didnt feel safe enough.
Its good for a few hours of stay before flights, because its close to the airport.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Not the most pleasant experience. - The room was freezing cold and the heating couldn’t be turned on. The duvet was suitable for mid summer, fortunately there was a spare one so I didn’t get too cold. The room was little better than a prison cell, some towels would have been nice. There were no food outlets nearby. All in all, not a pleasant experience. Based on this experience, I won’t be using F1 hotels again.
- Ed (4/5): - When we arrived, our reservation could not be found. It took more than hour between hotel and Orbitz to solve it and let us into room. As little compensation hotel gave us free breakfast.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrid - Horrific Barlinnie Jail in glasgow would be nicer smells damp, it’s dirty recommend wearing a bin bag to sleep it’s the bad
- Kevin (4/5): - You won't want to use the bathrooms or showers. But good location if you have an early morning flight, can walk to the airport in 20 minutes.
- AWNY (6/5): - CLOSE TO THE AIRPORT . GOOD STAFF , GOOD BREAKFAST
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Good for an overnight stay close to airport. Walking distance.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid this at all cost. Not worth a single penny - There is nothing good about this hotel except the location from the airport. We had early morning flight at 6.30 and to avoid last minute rush or to avoid spending night at airport with a kid, we booked this hotel to stay for few hours - around 7 hrs. We went with extreme low expectations already but it has disappointed even though. Room's AC is switched off so we were hardly able to sleep in poorly ventilated 10x10 ft room. We kept window open for some air but it resulted into lights from ongoing traffic and noise along with mosquitoes. Dont get trapped by low prices, its not even worth that.
- Ty (2/5): - Very dirty. Some of the staff were nice but we asked for a non smoking room and got a smoking room. Sheets were stained and toilets were gross.
- Verified traveler (10/5): very good, thank you! - it was very pleasant, i liked the big garden very much!!!!!!
thanks !!! !!! !!! !!!
- Jocelyn (4/5): - Rooms were average and staff unhelpful. Wouldn’t order me a taxi or even offer any help. It’s a hostel - shared bathrooms and toilets.
- kim (6/5): Hotel was adequate - Value for money
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Signage to hotel is somewhat poor. Quality of bedding could improved upon. Washrooms and showers are shared. Timed lightning is annoying.
- Matthew (6/5): Cheap and cheerful, but no soap in the toilets - Don't expect a glamorous stay, but at these low rates, and with such a convenient location, it's hard to fault it. Note - there are no hand-wash basins in the toilets, and no soap is provided at the bedroom sinks. Hygiene should be a minimum necessity, even if everything else is charged as an extra.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bathrooms and showers were small and they didn’t provide a towel to shower. Breakfast was not free and there were no places to eat near it
