Verified traveler (8/5): Okay - Meris Gardens was nice enough, but it seemed a little run down. Cobwebs in all the doorways, yard overgrown. Just seemed kind of old and dingy. They only cleaned the room the first day we were there, the second day we got back from the beach to find no one had cleaned. The owners were nice, just seemed pricey for what it was. Nice location, though. Only a few minutes drive from the beach.

Even though the rooms were not exactly B&B, it was so nice that the owner made breakfast and chatted with everyone. In that sense, it had a very nice B&B feel to the place.

They served free breakfast in a nice hospitality room which was delicious, each morning. I would definitely like to stay there again in the future.

Gretchen M (8/5): Perfect for a quiet, relaxing solo getaway - I really enjoyed my stay at Meris Gardens. It was quiet yet cozy/charming and exactly what I was looking for in terms of a motel/B&B hybrid experience. The owner works very hard to keep things clean, to keep guests happy and fed, and to be around/available for any needs that might pop up. The grounds were beautiful and my room fit my needs - there was some general wear in the room but in a "lived in" way that you might find when traveling abroad or in an AirBnB, for example. For me, I appreciate this more than a sterile hotel room, especially when at the beach/on vacation. Having a fridge and microwave in the room was SO helpful and convenient, ice available 24/7, bikes available for use (though I brought my own and locked it to their rack). I really hope to return and stay again!!

There were too many poor working things and other than making the bed and fresh towels, you are on your own for shampoo and soap after the first shower. Good intentions just cannot make up for the aging plumbing and electrical systems. Good luck if you try it. Not inexpensive for what you get and don't get.

Pros: convenient location, free (if slightly decrepit) bikes to use, nice breakfast, clean Cons: I would describe this as a tiny motel, not really a “B&B”. Our biggest disappointment was that room had a very strong mold and mildew odor, and had a portable dehumidifier running continuously. Most likely, it had flooded recently, and they hadn’t properly done the repairs. While clean, the room had a general feeing of being quite rundown (dirty walls, bubbling paint, caulking in bathroom needs to be redone.). Considering what they charge, they should spend some $ on fixing things up.

Kevin (4/5): - I wasn't expecting this to be a motel since the place is labeled as a "Bed and Breakfast" her in Expedia. The room was fair. The only AC is a window unit in the bathroom which had to be on full blast to reach the bedroom - which caused for excessive noise from the unit. Being 15 minutes from the beach was a plus. The breakfast was adequate but nothing to rave about.

Plenty of storage and places to hang towels etc. there is a sitting area outside the room, over looking the garden. The breakfast was very good. I would return to this B & B

Libby (6/5): Meris Gardens Bethany - I have mixed feelings overall about Meris Gardens and hate to say anything negative about small businesses. We picked Meris because we needed somewhere dog-friendly and wanted to spend time outside. The pictures online made it look very pretty, in reality it looked a little overgrown and needed tidying up. The facility is an updated motel with a couple of grassy areas and lots of flower beds. The staff were very nice and gave great suggestions for restaurants and local information. Our room was updated in a nautical theme of blues and grays with clean fresh white linens on the bed. However, the A/C unit was in the bathroom so only some of the really cold air filtered into the bedroom. It was a very hot weekend and both my husband and I were still very warm at night, even with a fan on. The grounds had lots of interesting plants and overall gave the facility a very natural feel. However, the pathways and picnic table were not swept or wiped off. We had hoped to sit with our dog outside to eat lunch but the picnic table and benches were too messy to sit at (leaves and buds, not leftover food/debris). The hotel did have an area to dispose of animal waste and had a supply of doggie bags if needed. The staff were very helpful when we asked for wine glasses, a bottle opener and knife. With just a little more care to spruce up and tidy up the outside in general, it would be a terrific facility!

Verified traveler (8/5): Great location, flooding could be a problem - The hotel is great if you are planning on spending most of your time out and about. Great location, having bikes to take to the beach or into town is awesome. The only problem is that our room flooded (along with significant portions of the property) while we were at dinner during a torrential rainstorm. Luckily our bags were not on the ground of the room and the room next to ours was empty and not flooded. The staff was accommodating in allowing us to switch rooms but if the other room wasn't empty or we had placed our bags in different areas of the room then things could have turned out quite differently. Much of the property remained flooded the following day, which is when we checked out. If not for that issue, this would be a high recommendation for a couple looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a great location.
