Guest Reviews
- Baldwin (7/5): - Friendly N/a
- Martin (3/5): - It was clean It was very basic. There was NO food available! Only told on arrival. Would definitely NOT have stayed here had we been told before hand. No dinner. No breakfast
The details show lovely food with a hygiene rating of 5....from 2014!!!!
Described as elegant rooms.. def NOT elegant! Very shabby.
I feel we should have been offered a partial refund for lack of kitchen.
It cost us in taxis to go out to eat.
We were offered a takeaway pizza menu
- Danny (10/5): - Everything Nothing
- Chris (8/5): Perfect for what we needed. - The staff were lovely ! Welcomed us and made us feel like family!
- Irena (10/5): Charming place with great location and nice authentic pub where everyone knows everyone đ - Everything..The room, the pub, people, location
- Alexandra (6/5): Nice location, no onsite parking, no breakfast.. so not great - It was a nice location Didnât like that the pub was closed until 5pm every day, no breakfast, in actual fact, no foodâŠ. They did have a chef in one night , although to call him a chef is another matter, I think my cat could have made better fajitas and nachos âŠ
- Dennis (4/5): Viel zwaar tegen. - Niets.
- Dawn (6/5): Well priced - Staff were friendly No packing, no food available
- Sarah (9/5): - The owner greeted us upon arrival and showed us to our room. He was friendly and kind carrying my bags upstairs, he explained about key return etc. He honestly couldnât do enough. Itâs not as much a dislike as a comment. The room we stayed in and the bathroom were clean, the bed was comfortable. Everything was satisfactory and simply no frills, exactly as I would expect for the very reasonable price we paid.
- john (8/5): Staff could not be more helpful- great stay and Deal is a great night out - Staff could not be more helpful- great stay and Deal is a great night out

- stephen (5/5): - Good welcome and food, good location m The room smells of cigarettes/cigar smoke on arrival. 9

- ignaciotex (9/5): Very nice place, should be above 8. - The apartment was very nice, the pub mood with neighbors is also very nice. The owner is very kind and helpful, we felt very welcome. A few points that can improve the experience: add blackout curtains in the rooms and add some more cooking utensils, a spatula, coffee maker, etc, in the flat.
- Roi (8/5): -
- Sarah (7/5): Very nice - John was the perfect host. What a lovely guy and he does it all on his own. Lovely pub and friendly locals. The room was freezing. Could not control the heating yourself but to be fair we did not ask about it.
- Tara (7/5): Still a nice stay because the people were lovely - Friendly staff, kitchen facilities in the appartment we stayed in. Comfy double bed. Lovely village with beautiful bridal path opposite pub that goes to Kingsdown Sofa bed for our friend was terrible! Appartment could do with a bit of a refresh and better sofa bed. Could do with a deep clean. Reasonable value for money in this day and age.
- janine (8/5): Perfect if it hadnât been soooo cold in the room - Great location, easy to park, lovely crisp linen and nicely decorated room. Tea & coffee making and a good shower. Hosts were easy to get hold of and very accommodating The room was freezing!!
The room and bathroom radiators didnât come on at night or in the morning. I slept in my fleece and kept my socks on
- Gareth (10/5): -
- chris (10/5): Canât rate this place highly enough as it was such a lovely stay and itâs our second time at this facility. Lovely staff -

- Dione (8/5): - Super clean
- Neil (4/5): - Not a suite last time stayed have the suite with kitchen
- Betts-Gray (10/5): We will stay here again - Great value for money, clean bedding, good shower all you need for a stay. Good location just outside the Deal
- Richards (4/5): Disappointing and hungry - Location Couldnât check in until 4 pm although asked for 3 pm. Had to sit in car outside for over an hour.
NO Restaurant!!!! No evening meal no breakfast had to drive into Deal for food. Owner (?) advised she was leaving hence no kitchen/ food.
Parking on narrow lane.
- James (8/5): - I liked the convenience with the nearby towns
- Arif (10/5): Five Bells Pubs without Five bells đ - Cleanliness
Quiet and friendly staff Historical location
- Finlay (10/5): Perfect place for a weekend away visiting friends/family or playing golf. Great team đ - Fantastic & friendly staff! Harriet was extremely helpful and very kind in sorting everything from checking in to departure. Sheâs a a great asset to the team here! N/a
- Anna (7/5): Just what we needed for an overnight stay before the ferry to France. - Clean, spacious room. Good to have adjoining room for children and adults. Close to Dover for the ferry. Friendly staff. There was more traffic than I'd expected on the road outside.
- Jermaine (9/5): Beautiful, my family says they will stay here again. - It was clean and the staff was superb.
It felt like home The property needed a fan or AC in summer. It could. Could also use a Netflix subscription
- John (8/5): Apart from the initial access problems it served its purpose as an overnight stay. - Served its purpose for an overnight stay Problems contacting anyone to access /enter the property as entry doors were not readily obvious, waited outside whilst phone calls went to answering service
- Phil (7/5): Five bells deal Kent - Room was tidy and clean The shower/toilet was poorly lit so much so that you couldnât see to have a shave or comb your hair. Had to leave the door open to see anything. Also the extractor fan didnât work so everywhere got steamed up. Also when we enquired about booking breakfast we were told it would have to be early as the owner had an appointment at 9. So we went elsewhere.
- Bridget (7/5): Could be a lovely place, needs money spent on it, not sure I would stay again. - Nice looking village pub. Staff were lovely although were absent quite a bit. Needs a good deep clean, lots of cobwebs and dust, curtains coming off curtain rods, bathroom needed maintenance . No tea bags, no spoons , no glasses. Breakfast was extra
- Mark (5/5): -
- Trent (5/5): - Location Room stunk also poor ventilation no fans
- Dawn (3/5): Sad to say awful - Location Broken bed .. hot water cuts out .. place needs alot of repair complained but was told they no the issues..
- Adam (10/5): -
- Andrew (7/5): A comfortable 3 night stay - Close to Dover. The room and en-suite were adequate. The shower was particularly powerful and the bed comfortable. There was no traffic noise. Finding a parking space.
- Michael (7/5): - Close to Dover circa 10 minutes No parking
- Simon (1/5): The fact that, at night, hen I arrived, it was closed and I potentially I had nowhere to sleep that - It was closed!! I couldn't get in !! It was closed!
- Charlotte (10/5): -
- Leila (8/5): Reasonable - Easy check in/check out process. Clean simple room with tea/coffee facilities and shower gel. Draughty window that was also noisy being next to the road.
- Hannah-grace (5/5): - It was spacious The bathroom tap wouldn't turn off so was constantly running
It smelt a bit damp
And the boiler was extremely noisy every few mins it would sound like heavy dubstep music,a pounding noise
With the few things fixing it would be a very nice plwase
- vivien (8/5): Comfortable - The room was very clean, excellent shower with nice bath towels, but need hand towels and bath mat too.
Even though the room was comfortable, it was VERY cold when we arrived, but got sorted. The insolation in the rooms are not good. We could hear the guests and the \tv next door clearly.
- Mike (8/5): - Welcome, ease of access to rooms, facilities
- Lisa (10/5): Will always book here when required on staying near Deal spot on - Easy process on booking in, polite and helpful staff. Good clean room as always very warm and cosy
- Audrey (8/5): The room was basic but would definitely stay here again -
- victoria (7/5): Veel potentie. Beetje onderhoud en het is weet top. - Dicht bij de ferry. Keukentje. Familie kamer. Kan heel leuk zijn. Veel potentie. Voor een nacht prima. Er is wel wat onderhoud nodig. Vroeger was het wat beter. Slaapbank kan echt niet meer. Lekkende kranen.
- Pete (3/5): Location was ok but the acomodation poor will never return - Location The bathroom was a disaster to shower you had a hair wash even if you did want it the water was blocked so you stood in 12 inches plus of water and the shower screen would flap about which caused the rest of the bathroom to get wet . The tap turned on back to front then the cap would fall off.
- Robert (10/5): - Close to ferry
- Anil (7/5): -
- Aleksandra (10/5): Lovely place - Nice and comfortable room.
- Nicola (8/5): Overall a lovely stay - Perfect location as we have family literally up the road . Lovely bar with friendly locals and bar staff Limited parking and traffic noise. Could do with a bath mat and a hand towel
- A_N_Droid (7/5): - Great location for early ferry, room itself was fine, kettle, good shower, comfortable, easy to get to Deal for choice of restaurants Not much, bit of traffic noise, but just there for quick stop
- Darryl (8/5): Pretty good for a short stay. - Good value for family room for what we paid. Bed was uncomfortable. Parking hard to find
- Robert (1/5): -
- laura (1/5): Abismal I would not stay here! - Location was close to Dover that was it! No parking
Unclean- we were bitten by what I could only think was fleas!
Mouldy glass next to bed.
Damp smell to the property!
Was told I would get a refund by the manager and then they disputed with booking.com
- Sarah (10/5): Definitely would return if travelling - Lovely host, lush two bedroom apartment Nothing
- Love (10/5): - The hosts were very helpful.
Gave us tourists tips.
They even moved their car to give us a great parking space.
The meal cooked at their pub was a very big serve and tasted great.

- The magonzies (7/5): Handy and easy spot to sleep to catch the ferryđ - We travelled from Liverpool to Dover so this place was only 15 min away from the ferry terminal which was ideal. As we arrived later then checking time , the owners kindly left the key for us outside. Lovely building and although it was very clean and handy, I thought ÂŁ100 was a lot for what it is. Would I book this again for the same purpose? Yes probably as it was super handy to catch the ferry the next dayđ We arrived at 12.15 am so went straight to bed. Thereâs nothing we didnât like đ
-Douche kraan kapot
- Chris (7/5): - Welcoming, standard accomodation
- Timothy (3/5): Cold room no toiletries over flowing shower - Ok but you had to pre pay night before Paying after I have eaten
- Panesar (9/5): - location cleaning
- hirst (7/5): -
- Joanne (4/5): This place was convenient for a party we went to but the cleanliness and the food below average - Convenient for visiting our friends Not well cleaned. Dirty bathroom.
- Eivind (6/5): -
- MRG69 (10/5): Lovely pub with a warm welcome and decent accommodation! - The host were welcoming and communicated well prior to my stay, making everything on arrival a breeze. This is a lovely, friendly pub with a good comfortable standard of accommodation. There isn't anything I didn't like, I had a very comfortable and enjoyable stay and would recommend.
- Duncan (10/5): - Wonderful stay, staff went out of there way to make us comfortable. Nothing to not like
- Catherine (7/5): -
- Duncan (10/5): - All staff went out of their way to make our stay pleasurable. A very happy place to stay. Couldn't stay longer.
- Joel (10/5): -
- Audrey (6/5): - Location relative to where I needed to be. Very pleasant and helpful staff member. No parking on site, and extremely limited street parking. I had to park a 5 minute walk away.
- Adrian (6/5): Good food, lovely people. -
- Jennifer (8/5): -
- Corinna (1/5): Nie wieder!!!
- Fiona (5/5): Perfect for an early ferry crossing - I chose this location as parking was provided this is on road parking and you'll need to look for a space.
Whole place smelled very damp but was cleaned. We arrived, slept and left so can't comment on kitchen.
We had a double bed and a double camp bed which is fit for the bin only, thin mattress with massive dent I the middle, kids slept on floor instead. Lots of bedding provided and great proximity to ferry. Sorry already done all together above
- Keith (7/5): -
- Jenn (7/5): -
- Emma (4/5): It was a useful location and served a purpose but we wouldnât stay here again. - The pub was close to Dover and Folkestone for ferry and Le Shuttle terminals, which is why we picked it. It also gave us the option to have separate bedrooms to separate the kids so they would sleep better.
The lady that greeted us was friendly and welcoming. We stayed in the Dover room, which had a living space/kitchenette with fold up Z bed, which we had to make up ourselves. Then through the back there was the main bedroom with the bathroom.
It was in need of updating, with scuff marks on the walls and torn carpet. But the worst thing was the smell of mould, particularly in the bedroom. It was so strong that I had to sleep with my sleeve over my face to try to block it out. Also, the shower was covered in pink stains where it hasnât been cleaned properly for quite some time.
But the main reason I hardly slept, was the road noise. It felt like there was no wall between us and the main road that runs alongside the accommodation. It was so loud and constant, until 11pm when it died down a little before getting busy again early morning.

- Walkers (9/5): - We travelled as a family of 12. So we required two rooms and the appartment. Lovely place easy to get to and very accessible to the Fover to Calais ferry. . Staff were friendly and helpful the place was clean and comfortable and the showers were hot. The bedroom was of a good size and tge appartment was excellent and fully met our needs. Nice bar area and general areas. We had already eaten so did not get the chance to sample the food but we noticed that the prices were reasonable and we regretted our decision to eat earlier otherwise we would have had dinner at the 5 bells. We would recommend and stay at this hotel again The only negatives were that no car park was available but there was plenty of space to park in the street. We had 3 cars one of which was a VW Crafter Motorhome and all found ample parking space. The noise from the road was a constant but we had already done our homework and was aware of this issue so some decent ear pods/plugs soon resolved any problem and we tend to wear ear pods for sleep anyway.
- Estes (7/5): - I contacted the property when I found out that we would not be able to arrive on Sunday, July 6. When we arrived on Monday the 7th - the property acted like we should have been there the night before. I donât know exactly who I talked to when I called, but I would think they would have let them know.
- Des (8/5): Family friendly pub, good for short stopover in Deal - Well-apportioned annexe to the pub, comfortable seating, dining area and desk. A separate room with a large bed featuring a firm mattress covered in high-quality cotton sheeting. Table lamps provide warm ambient lighting to the rooms. Bedroom by the roadside, fortunately not a busy road to compensate for light sleeper.
- Andrea (9/5): - Food was great. Nice comfy bed. Staff were lovely Lack of parking space
- Lynn (6/5): Our was a average experience - Friendly staff Dusty room - top of wardrobe very dusty.
