Guest Reviews
- Joseph (2/5): - This place is horrible.
Reviews seem to be super old, and there may have been a time where the hotel was great, but this time around it was horrible.
- Overpriced to what you get
- NO hot water
- Barely working shower head
- Dirty sheets
- Unbearable concierge, that closes the outside doors with a lock, forcing me to wake him up when I came back after a party on Saturday night. He also clearly expressed that I bothered him.
- Expressed all the above and they answered "it is what it is".
- They didn't clean the room for the second night, even tho I asked
- The hotel was empty, given all the above they could have changed my room, if the issue was only with my room.
Long story short, avoid this place at all costs. I felt robbed given what I paid, and the state of the hotel itself. Don't be fooled by the 10 years old pictures to you see.
- Ramon A. Nevarez (10/5): - This is a boutique Hotel with personalized service. Anything you need you should ask for and Gustavo will do his best to get it for you.
- Alwyn (10/5): Fantastic Boutique hotel - When in Quito, you must stay at the Marquiz Hotel, the staff including one very special manager Juan Fernando Rueda, plus his brother,Gustav, they made our stay very special, nothing was a problem, right down to showing us the nearby restaurants and Gustav taking us to the Center of the Earth, what a wealth of knowledge he has, thank you so much.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Central near Plaza Foch - Nice hotel, modern, enormous room, helpful staff

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Modern, and sleek....this place is quite nice as it was two blocks from the party area and club district but was in a quiet location...The staff are very nice and attentive and they were very accommodating. Place was immaculately clean and I enjoyed my time...Would definitely come back.
- PUNTA SAL (8/5): Gracias Ecuador - Todo muy bien, gracias por los servicios prestados.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great hotel. Staff were excellent and helped us with all enquiries. Organised shuttle for us which was very handy. Great restaurants near by and in a great location. Breakfast was fantastic!
- Brittany (10/5): Nice hotel - Very nice hotel, comfortable, nice breakfast, huge bathroom! Bedroom slightly small (no room for desk, for example), but I would still recommend it!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely place. Clean, safe in a wonderful area. Very helpful, friendly staff.
- Nelly (8/5): - The checking in was nice and easy. The hotel was very clean. My first room was very hot and not ventilation at all. Next day we were moved a nicer room. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Bathroom small but
but it had a great shower. Breakfast was good, nothing fancy. Location was good. Great restaurants at walking distance and easy access to public transportation. Staff was super nice. Mr Rueda went above an extra mile to make our stay pleasant since we have an issue with our first room. Thanks to Maria Jose and Miguel for great service. We really enjoy staying at your hotel.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Hotel; was very well Centrally located. Short distances to sites I wished to visit
- Yun (4/5): - Staff friendly and helpful. Room was clean and nice. Hotel is nice too, though in a shady neighbourhood. If you're a light sleeper, this hotel may not be for you as there's constant noise from the street and police/ambulance sirens overnight.
I had no hot water during my stay and the staff didn't mention anything about it during check in until I mentioned it.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Wonderful boutique hotel - Convenient to walking the best parts of the city. Staff was exceptional. Room was nice size and well appointed. Would stay here again!
- Raquel (8/5): Nice and close to good restaurants and amenities. - SUGGESTIONS:KEEP IN MIND THAT PHONE AND BELL DOOR ARE TOO NOISE SHOULD BE FIXED.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent stay, nice decoration and attention to detail.
- Kevin (10/5): Convenient and Pleasant Boutique Hotel in Mariscal - The accommodations met my expectations and the location was a convenient starting point for site seeing.
- Anne (10/5): Delightful Hotel - Delightful hotel just steps from Foch Plaza but far away enough not to hear the noise from it. Very modern bedrooms and bathrooms, very clean. Front desk staff were very helpful and spoke English. We had a good breakfast here each morning. We would book here again should we return to Quito.
- Scot (8/5): Very cute! - We enjoyed our stay at the Marquiz Boutique Hotel. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms were very modern and clean. It is located right in the center of good restaurants and night clubs. Our only negative was the traffic noise, but since it is located in the center of all the action, it is hard to avoid. Breakfast was amazing!!
- roger (10/5): Very nice hotel - My second stay here and it was as good as the first.
- john (10/5): Great hotel in good location! - Our room was fairly small but still comfortable. Good size bathroom with balcony off it. Very nice.
The service at the front desk was extremely good and helpful. Will definitely stay there again.
- Richard (10/5): Gem in Quito - An amazing boutique hotel in central location. Comfortable immaculate rooms. The staff goes out of their way to make your stay enjoyable. Will definitely return to this hotel.
- NHON (10/5): Great hotel in Quito - Marquiz Hotel is located in a central area, closed to Plaza Foch, with shops and restaurants nearby. The hotel is very clean and in good condition; its staff are very helpful; breakfast is good. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a great vacation in Quito.
To reach Marquiz Hotel using public transportation from Quito International Airport: after getting out of the arrival hall you take a bus that heads to Rio Coca Station, then transfer to Ecovia Bus that takes you to Manuela Canizares stop; from this bus stop you can walk to the hotel in less than 10 minutes.
- Rita (8/5): Great place, but attracts wrong sort of guest - This was a beautiful place to stay with friendly staff and lots of room amenities (microwave, fridge, huge sliding glass windows, etc.). The real problem in my experience is with the other guests. Many of them get up early to go to Machu Picchu, and are not yet in the mood to enjoy anything. I had the person next door banging on my door and yelling at me at 9:45 pm because he thought I ran the shower too long and he could hear it. The hotel staff could not intervene because they speak Spanish and I speak Spanish but the other guest could not. The room acoustics are not my fault. But beware that people who stay here are using it as a launch base for getting to Machu Picchu in the morning and seem to have no tolerance for any kind of noise after 9 pm.
- Robert (6/5): Two nights - Reception and checking in was all pleasant & efficient. The hotel is very secure with a locked gate to the street that needs you to ring a bell to alert reception staff - this is fine by me. The area of La Mariscal has plenty of bars & restaurants within an an easy stroll. My room was smallish, but clean and all in the bathroom worked really well - great shower!
My gripe is that my room itself was on the ground floor adjacent to reception & the breakfast area. I could hear the door bell every time it was rung, I could hear other guest & all their discussions at reception. When breakfast began, there was only a frosted between me and the breakfast tables, so again I could hear all.
My stay was compromised by my room location. Hence I mark it down.
- Janine (10/5): Beautiful hotel, friendly and knowledgeable staff. - I loved this hotel, perfect location, very clean, and the staff took very good care of me. I will be back!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - No hot water during my stay so I couldn't take a shower
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great boutique hotel near Mariscal - This boutique hotel is perfect if you want to stay near Mariscal. It's very modern and comfortable and walking distance to everything in the Mariscal neighborhood. Highly recommend if you do not want to stay at a hostal.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great experience - Very comfortable and quiet. Spotlessly clean. Very helpful and pleasant staff and a very tasty breakfast. All at a very decent price. My room was very nicely decorated too which was a bonus. I don't think you could go wrong here. It is of course in La Mariscal aka "Gringolandia". But that does make it easy to eat etc nearby - and walk a few blocks and you're back in S America.
- Rob (10/5): Lovely, small but comfy hotel with friendly staff. - I booked two rooms for 3 adults for a two-night stay about a month ahead of our arrival. About a week prior I called the hotel to let them know that we'd be checking in after midnight, and that we'd need a shuttle from the airport. I was very happy to be helped by a friendly young lady who spoke good English and put my mind at ease about both concerns. She even gave me the name of the driver who would pick us up. We ended up using that driver for several of our taxi-like needs. The hotel, though not many rooms, is charming and comfortable. The staff were professional, and easy to deal with. The beds were comfortable, and the rooms were nice. Neither room had air conditioning, and initially, one of our two rooms did not have a window, so air-flow was un-acceptable. The hotel allowed us to swap the room for a much nicer room that included a great balconly overlooking the busy street. Street noise was an issue for those looking for peace and quiet, but it comes with the night-life of the area, which for us was kind of exciting. All-in-all, we would certainly stay there again.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Very nice hotel in the heart of Gringo Town - The hotel is small, but very nice, and clean, with very helpful stuff, good basic breakfast is served daily. The location is good, near the city tour bus stop. You can buy tickets in the hotel.
There is a nice jacuzzi, you can use.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Gorgeous hotel, great location - We stayed for 2 nights at the end of a two month trip through South America. It is modern, stylish, clean and close to Foch Plaza where you can find lots of restaurants and shopping. The staff was helpful in arranging a very early morning taxi to the airport and even made us a breakfast to go so we wouldn't leave hungry. My only minor complaint was there was no wifi on the last night of our stay, which would have been helpful to get us checked into our flight and manage our travel plans. Overall, great hotel and a pleasant stay.
- Michael (10/5): A hidden diamond in Quito - A really nice boutique small hotel. Great Service. The room was a little crowded (small window) but everything else was great.
Great location.
- Andrew (10/5): Clean, upscale hotel located in central area - The Marquiz Hotel Boutique was a great place to stay in Quito. It was very close to anything you'd want to get to, including Old Town, which was easily accessible by Ecovia, Metrobus, or Trolebus. The staff were all great and very accomodating, including the airport shuttle driver.
- Raja (10/5): Marquis Hotel Boutique - This hotel is very nie, exceded my expectations. It is close to Foch Square, and all the restaurants and shopping one can ask for (including Mariscal Craft Market). breakfast was simple but adequate, and the hotel staff are very helpful with arranging a taxi, or holding your luggage, etc.
- carole (8/5): Very clean and functional - Hotel was in a great location for shopping, walking and parks. Rooms were compact but functional. Breakfast was good. Staff excellent.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Very central to everything - Our second stay in Quito and in the Marquiz. A good place to be.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice hotel centre of everything - Situated in a Main Street in barrio Mariscal. The Marquiz is close to everything. There tourist restaurants and bars cluttered around the Plaza Foch but plenty of more traditional places too. The best food and best value for money are the small restaurants offering the menu del dia usually for lunch. Great home style cooked food and rediculously cheap. Our best meals came from these places. You can walk to parks and the old city from the Marquiz or a short cheap taxi ride to anywhere. There are also the local buses but they always looked so full! we used the Marquiz as our base and would leave our luggage with them while we went for a week to the Amazonas and then return to Quito for a week and off to the Galapagos. We had arranged our trips before but the staff at the Marquiz will help you organise anything you need. The staff were great and good fun- we were trying to learn Spanish and they would help us practice - especially our weird pronounciations. The environment is "arty" and pleasant. A little quirky. The rooms are all different shapes and sizes- generally smallish but each usually has an extra feature like a walk out balcony or a bank of windows you can open. Our first room had know windows but we were given the choice of 2 rooms to change to. No fuss. Very easy. That was great. The Marquiz is a great place, it became our little home. We highly recommend it to anyone passing through Quito or staying a little longer. ( A lavendaria is close by.)
- Robert (10/5): Excellent. Location - Location is ideal, staff was very helpful and will return again.
