Guest Reviews
- Lonneke (9/5): - Very friendly staff, fantastic onsen, great location

The view from our room is quite good (cherry blossom was still bloom and mountain with snow-capped Reading the review, we had a high expectation about the food, but it turned out to be so-so and too salty for all of us
- Santhana (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and helpful. Paid kaiseiki dinner was excellent. Location was excellent - close to the Kozenji temple. in-room bathroom was very tight.

- Dominic (10/5): Absolutely excellent. - Food was excellent, some of the best kaiseki meals I have ever had in a ryokan. Everything was great.
- Man On Owen (9/5): Wonderful staff, excellent meals and overall a very memorable experience. - The meals were excellent, especially the kaiseki dinner. The staff were friendly and attentive and we were very happy with our stay. The hotel also has a very charming, old school feel. The only thing we noted was that the room was a bit dated but it was still comfortable and very spacious with a separate sleeping area and living area (tatami mats).

My room had the best view onto the entire mountain range. Stunning!
Keiseki dinner was just so delicious and in a private room.
There is a free tea and coffee station which is quenching your thirst after the onsen. I could hear the passing cars
- Helena (9/5): We enjoyed it much, thank you! - Great staff, very helpful. Very close to the bus station that goes to the Kiso mountain rope road .
The property has a great public hot bath( onsen) The pillows were not very comfortable

- Claire (10/5): Wonderful, traditional inn with excellent staff and great food. - This is a traditional ryokan and therefore it’s important to assess it on its own terms. It’s not a luxury hotel, but it is a lovely place to stay. The staff were wonderful, our room was huge and comfortable, the onsen was beautiful and the food was outstanding. I loved the traditional yukata and samue they provided, and the beauty products in the onsen were great. The location is very good- an agricultural town with fields surrounded by mountains- but it is next to a road so it’s not the most scenic. That said, it is very close to an amazing shrine that is one of the most beautiful holy places I have ever experienced. The lighting in the room was harsh, and the small rooms at dinner got very hot with the open flames.

- Karen Neo (8/5): cosy and comfort place and environment. - The location was great—close to what we needed, especially the bus center to the mountain. the breakfast was very nice and unexpectedly good. It could have been emphasized more clearly that the room has no private bathroom and guests need to use the public bathroom for showers.
- Adler (10/5): -
- Toshiko (10/5): Great access to Senjyojiki curle and comfortable futon, staff are very warm and kind! - Hot Spring was great with clean hot bath, and the staff welcomed us kindly even we arrived close to 9 pm. The bathroom in our room was too small which had bad access to the main big room.
- Samuel (10/5): Loved our stay - We loved our stay at Hotel Yamabuki!! Very friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, comfortable onsen, and location close to lots of outdoor activities such as the ropeway and the river. We wish we could have stayed longer!
- Joseph (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sebastian (10/5): Exceptional - Serene environment. Incredibly helpful staff. Onsen was the best!
- Laura (10/5): Outstanding! Our best stay in Japan so far! - If you're looking for an authentic Japanese roakan onset experience, this is your place. We loved the onsen and bath products, the traditional Japanese meals, and the staff were incredible! If we were to go back we would choose a bigger room for our family of four.
- Nikolai (9/5): Superb -
- Saronchan (10/5): Exceptional - The street in front of the hotel is very dark at night
- Mpainesyd (9/5): The hotel is within easy distance of a famous temple and the Komagane Ropeway(see photos) - Meals were superb. The banquet on the first night was huge. We asked for a lighter dinner for the remaining nights. Breakfast was also great. Very attentive staff who made us feel most welcome. Lack of nearby cafes/restaurants in Winter. However the staff kindly arranged lifts to ones in town.
- Kornkamon (9/5): Superb - The staffs are very nice and have good service mind. We are happy to stay here to get good service and good breakfast and dinner. The room is comfortable and very clean.
- Suthiwat (10/5): Exceptional - The place looks like new. Very clean. Staffs are exceptional. Very private and exclusive. They should have a bed lamp.
- George (10/5): Exceptional -
- Marek (9/5): Superb -
- Tali (9/5): Superb -
- Gil (10/5): Exceptional - The staff is amazing
- Allen (9/5): Attentive and helpful staff makes staying here a pleasure. - Although there is a dated interior the hotel was very clean and the staff exceptional. The staff was kind, courteous and most helpful. The interior, although clean, felt warm and dated.
- Lela (10/5): Exceptional - Truly exceptional customer service. They were so kind and a very authentic traditional Japanese experience
- Chris (10/5): Exceptional - Just wonderful in every way. The breakfast is not only tasty but beautiful! Staff incredibly friendly and helpful.
- Boris (9/5): Superb - We came late by train and they immediately offered to pick us up. The hotel is beautiful and has a nice onsen. Our best breakfast in Japan, very traditional. In the morning, they brought us to the bus stop by shuttle.
- Uwe (9/5): Superb -

- Dylan (9/5): Superb -
- Terri (9/5): Beautiful view - The staff were friendly and helpful. We loved the Onsen and the view of the mountains from our rooms. The hotel is quite a distance from the train station, so a taxi or bus are your best options for reaching it.
- Sharmila (10/5): A wonderful place to stay.. - Location was good. Service was excellent. Food was exceptional.
- Grace (10/5): I loved it, the service provided was top notch. Thank you so much. :) - It was super cosy and they provide yukatas for you to wear area the property. The Onsen had an indoor and outdoor one, and I really enjoyed it! The dining was amazing, you get a private area for breakfast with everything beautifully prepared (it’s done with so much finesse and love). I highly recommend the dinner Omakase too, it was such a great experience. Highly recommend this place to anyone coming down to Komagane. You can take the bus from the JR train station and it stops right outside the hotel. Was so happy I chose this place to stay for 2 nights. :) Nothing
- Michael (5/5): Passable - Staff were among the most formal and polite that I've dealt with in decades of living in Japan. Onsen is nice to have available. Onsen wasn't very large. Facilities and room were very old and had a bad feel to them. The small prefab bathroom from the 1970s was browned and extremely small (smaller than APA hotel). This was nothing like my onsen experiences in Oita that I was comparing it to. For the price, I would not stay here again.
- Rhys (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brady (9/5): Peaceful - The location was absolutely stunning, even with the cheapest room available I had a wonderful view.
I went on a week day and it was so peaceful.
The staff were so attentive and kind. I would’ve like for there to be more facilities in the onsen such as a hair tie as I forgot to bring my hair tie with me.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fancier than we thought - We had Avery good time there. Nice hospitality. You’d better have a car to go there, though. It wasn’t a cheap stay so I expected it to be reasonably fancy but it was fancier than we thought!
