Guest Reviews
- Siu Wah (10/5): Highly recommended - We stayed in the Japanese traditional room with stunning view of the ocean! The room is very cosy with comfortable futons. Facilities are clean and well maintained. High Quality traditional Japanese breakfast provided. The onsen is the most attractive part: neat and charming designs, spacious, and the outdoor part is breezy and again ocean view. most unforgettable is the staff: their warmth, their smile. We highly recommend this hotel to everyone who wants to experience Japanese hospitality
- Cosima (10/5): Relaxing and resourcing - We had a wonderful stay at this ryokan. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming throughout our visit. The food was comforting and delicious, and the whole inn had a beautiful traditional charm that made the experience feel very authentic.
The view over the bay was lovely, the futons were very comfortable, and the onsen was beautiful and relaxing. Thank you again for the excellent service, and a special mention to our Nepalese waitress, who was extremely attentive and caring during our stay. We truly appreciated her kindness.

- Rebecca (10/5): We had a great stay here, probably the best of our trip to Japan. The views from our room were amazing and the staff wer - The staff we extremely friendly and would do anything to give us the best experience.
Facilities and food were great.
Incredible views from our room.
We didn’t have a car so they offered a free shuttle bus to train stations whenever needed. Nothing.

- ClareD (9/5): A quiet town but luxurious stay. - The bathhouse was lovely and the dinner and breakfast were sensational. The staff were very friendly and helpful. In October there were only a couple of other places to eat. They were very good but hard to find. We had to have a rental car to get there and move around the area, but it was worth it.
- Kathryn (10/5): Perfect stay to relax and explore. - Perfect quiet location to relax close to Amanohashidate, Miyazu, Yosano and Ine. Beautiful area and excellent, comfortable facilities. N/A
- Bethany (9/5): Perfect get away for a couple of days! - My boyfriend and I loved our stay here. The hotel offered both beautiful indoor and outdoor onsens, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. The dinner was absolutely delicious, featuring fresh, local ingredients, and the staff were incredibly kind and attentive, making our stay truly special.

- Justin (8/5): -
- Yee Lin (9/5): -
- Mark (10/5): - Very comfortable, hospitable, traditional Japanese Ryokan with great bath and breakfast. Easy walk to sea for sunset views. We walked to Hisami for dinner but next time would consider getting full board.
- Salome (10/5): Lovely little town, amazing baths and genuinely friendly service - The young Japanese gentlemen who checked us in on the first day was the best. He really went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing experience. He accommodated all our requests, and even surprised us with a special birthday cake for my husband.
Aside from the incredible service, we absolutely loved having free access to the private family bath. All baths are beautiful, but being able to enjoy the kashikiri buro at no extra cost was also a highlight!
Excellent value for money, and great for families. The pillows
- Bar (9/5): Good location and great value for money - The location is amazing if you get there by car. The hotel has a great view to the sea with big glass window. The dinner was excellent and they have also good continental breakfast. The private Onsen is upon reservation at the front desk and it is worth visit. The facility is a bot outdated but very maintained and clean
- Fritz (9/5): - Sehr netter Ort mit netten Leuten. Supernettes Personal, sehr hilfsbereit
- Shi Yee (10/5): Very worth to stay - The quality of room, staff and food are very good The location is 30 mins drive to the beach, so you may miss the sunset if you are having dinner at the hotel
- sowa (8/5): -
- reina (10/5): -
- Rayer (9/5): -
- NIAMIEN LAURENT CHEICK (10/5): - We really loved our stay. The building is old be very cozy and comfortable.
The staff were very helpful and welcoming. I would definitely return there.
If you plan to dine outside the hotel, make sure you book beforehand.
- Kenneth (8/5): Comfortable stay near Kyoto station with fabulous food - The provided food is one of the highlights: The breakfast buffet was delicious and had a wide variety. Ramen supper was also a very welcome end to the day. Post onsen drink or ice cream with free flow coffee and matcha was also included
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Onsen had many pools
Next to Kyoto station so good for those using it as a base The rubbish bags are not supplied daily
It does tend to get crowded as there are many rooms
Could do with more laundry machines
- ZONGZE (10/5): - surprise
- yukikatsu okino (9/5): -
- Hani (10/5): Quiet, relaxing traditional stay by the sea - The room was super spacious, with a separate tatami room. It even had a genkan. Breakfast was a feast, with a view. The bath, particularly on the 4th floor, had a great view of the sea from above. Plenty of parking available. The guy at the reception who checked us in was fun and friendly, and spoke good English. Nothing. But I wish there were facilities like microwave, vending machine or coin laundry. There’s not much around the area at night, and it was raining heavily.
- Catarina (8/5): A lovely ryokan stay - We loved the view of the town and harbour from iur room and the private onsen was a great experience. All the amenities were great and we especially liked the yukata which was also provided for our 3 year old son. He loved it so much, he went to grab it to put it on as soon as we got back to the room everyday. The staff were very nice and accommodating. The more traditional slimmer futons and buckwheat pillows were a bit uncomfortable for what we are used to but part of the experience!
- Susan (8/5): Private Onsen Worth It - Quiet location within driving distance to Ine. Private onsen was most enjoyable. Pyjamas and yukata were comfortable. Not all rooms have a view of the water, it seems like only the traditional rooms with futons have the views. Looks like we were profiled and given a very boring breakfast each morning, consisting of a boiled egg, one cherry tomato, a couple of small slices of meat, some baguette slices, yoghurt, a glass of milk and a glass of juice. No tea or coffee. Everyone else seemed to have more interesting food but we weren’t even given the option.
The 1st morning we had breakfast in a lovely private room with somewhat of a view but the next morning we were relegated to a non-traditional room sitting in chairs and at a table.
- Jian Han (10/5): - This was a great ryokan experience for us. The view from the room is spectacular, and the meals were sumptuous and delicious. Shorenkan was the hidden gem of our trip
- Chanitphaksa (10/5): Exceptional -
- Barbara (10/5): Exceptional - Hidden gem, our best stay in japan. Room, food and onsen top. Just book it and enjoy. Nothing, everything was perfect and the staff are the kindest people ever met.
- Skaiste (9/5): Superb -
- Maurice (10/5): Exceptional -
- Brian (8/5): Very nice traditional stay. With great food and wonderful staff from reception through to waitresses and cleaners. - Food and staff were excellent. Would have been good to have access to a shower beyond the public bath times
- Mark (10/5): Amazing place to stay - Amazing hospitality, amazing location and service, amazing food, views and a free shuttle service on top of that! Thank you very much!!
- Nicolas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Hagit (10/5): Exceptional - Everything was amazing. The staff, the room, the onsen, the food
- Js (9/5): An absolute gem! We will be visiting again for sure. :) -
- Chung (9/5): Superb -
- Eli (10/5): Exceptional - both breakfast and dinner were amazing. the staff was helpful and kind.
- Peng (9/5): Superb - The hotel is located in the seaside town of Taiza. Beautiful view of the village from the bedroom. There is a small sitting area where you can enjoy the view while drinking tea. The hotel has common baths for men and separately for women. Upon request you can also book a private bath. I booked the half board and the food was amazing!!! There was so much to eat and I felt guilty I couldnt finish some of the portions. Although the hotel is abit old but we like the feel of it and enjoyed our stay immensely. Nothing
- Ryan (10/5): Comfortable with amazing views and friendly staff. - The staff were very friendly and accomodating. The onsen were beautiful, clean and very well laid out. The parking at the front was convenient and the views of the ocean are incredible. The pillows were very firm, but that is common so I did not mind too much.
- Shatabdi (8/5): Very good -
- Diane (10/5): - Goodness us…. PLEASE treat yourself and stay at least one night in this beautiful traditional hotel with its own onsen!
We had a superbly decorated very very very large traditional room (tatamis), a view of the little port and the sea of Japan with sunset….
And we discovered once there that one could book their private onsen!
Oh and yes, it’s ‘only’ a 100 years old family hotel….
Don’t forget to check their ‘souvenirs table’ of locally or Japan made goodies to take home.
The friendliness and discretion of the front desk people is exemplary.
This was part of the highlight of our holidays in Japan.
Thank you so much for offering such a beautiful hotel to us visiting tourists.
We wish you only the best for years to come!
- Mal (10/5): - Great service. Included complimentary car service to the local Izakaya restaurant. We used the Onsen twice. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly staff. Great for a day or two stop over to relax.
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Thanh (9/5): Superb -
- Maritza (10/5): One of the best places I’ve stayed in. I look forward to staying again in the future! - This was probably one of the best places I’ve ever stayed in Japan! The onsen was lovely, the service was wonderful, and the view from our room was unbelievable. Not to mention the delicious food (we paid for the breakfast) and the futons themselves were incredibly comfortable. Nothing at all.
- Flora (10/5): Would love to visit this place again. - The room was spacious, came with a great view. The onsen was awesome! Nothing!
- Cheung (10/5): Exceptional - we love this place so much. a quiet little harbour. the day we booked had no other customers, so we could enough the whole hostel and the onsens. the dinner is extraordinary and remarkable, also the breakfast. the room is big and clean. not much attractions or entertainments nearby.
- Law (9/5): It’s a place that is nice for self driving because they have plenty of free parking and it’s very quiet - I like the vibe there at a quiet street with sea view Everything is alright
- Malvis (10/5): Must stay if you are visiting Taiza. Great place to recharge. - The friendly and helpful staff
- Veronica (10/5): Overall, our family of 4 had a relaxing time and ate amazing food. The taiza crab shabu was the best crab we’ve tasted - The service, location, onsen and food were amazing. The breakfast and dinner sets we prepaid for were so delicious. So much food we didn’t have to eat lunch. The women only had access to the upstairs onsen from 6-9am. Wish we had access to the upstairs during sunset with the outdoor onsen. I booked a private onsen but the view wasn’t as nice.
- Ong53 (9/5): Memorable place with one of the best Traditional Japanese Breakfasts, I've ever had. - This ryokan offers traditional charm and comfort. Wake up to stunning sea views from the window and unwind in open-air onsen with panoramic vistas. Plus another big onsen resides by the hill. Whether seeking relaxation or romance, this ryokan combines sea, nature, and Japanese hospitality for an unforgettable getaway. What I like most is the incredible traditional Japanese breakfast, with one of the most tasty genmai tea I'v ever tasted. I wish the hotel would infuse the lobby with the enchanting scent of a floral bouquet perfume, adding even more charm.
- Felix (9/5): Superb -
- Mastrullo (10/5): Exceptional - The asian breakfast was superb, i went downstairs to 2F and it was waiting for me with a ticket with my name 🥰
The staff was kind and friendly and very helpful. I loved the cozy and personal atmosphere, and the view of the sea/harbor from my room was amazing.
- Felixpes (10/5): Exceptional - Very good experience at the ryokan. The breakfast was amazing. Very good onsen. Very helpful staff, especially if you are a Japanese language speaker. If you arrive late there's not much dining options around.
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Tan (9/5): Pleasant stay - Breakfast was delicious and we had spacious comfortable rooms with great view. The public onsens were really nice and looked exactly like the pictures shown in the website. Staff were friendly and helpful. The bath tub in the private onsen room is a bit small while the room is not small.
- Anna-mari (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nancy (10/5): - We loved the quiet location. The building was 100 years old and very nicely preserved. The spa was perfect and the staff members were all very helpful and kind.
The food was 5 star!
- Yuko (10/5): Will be back! - Perfect!! I brought my family to celebrate my parents’ wedding anniversary and the both bath house and Japanese traditional breakfast was amazing! None
- Aisha (8/5): Very good -
- R (10/5): Exceptional - Multi-course superb japanese breakfast, traditional experience, eat while viewing the most beautiful, relaxing ocean scenary. The onsen is wonderful, open till 11pm. The village itself is quite remote, dont expect a buzzling tourist hub. Situated on the ocean scenic parkway route 178, gorgeous!
- piched (10/5): - -
