Guest Reviews
- William (9/5): Excellent base for 4 night visit to Adelaide - Location v convenient. Buses from end of street to most sights. Fully equipped cottage with washer, dryer, dishwasher and breakfast supplies. Huge comfortable bed. Spacious room, nicely furnished. Nothing really.
- Tayla (9/5): -
- Leearne (9/5): A lovely quiet central place to stay; lovely host - Great location. Very close to the botanical Gardens and the zoo. Secure and quiet, a lovely central spot to stay for five nights. It is worth noting that you have to park your car on the street. This was not an issue for me from a security point of view as the street is not a main street, It’s almost a service road; however as it is a tree line street your car may may be covered with animal or tree sap each morning. Bed lamps need to be cleaned.
- Daniel (7/5): Lovely place. Needs a dust. - The Host was very nice, we had everything we needed. Very quirky. Only two beds, but enough sofas and armchairs to seat 10, dining room table with 6 seats.
Apparently the adjoining cottage can see through at night if the blinds aren't down.
Kitchen was filthy.
No access to power points around bed.
- Bec (8/5): Cosy cottage in a great location. - Cosy stylish cottage with all the comforts of home, in a fantastic location close to the Botanic Gardens and city, but away from the main road in a lovely and quiet street. Nothing, it really suited our stay.
- Peter (10/5): A delightful, comfortable stay at a perfect location, with everything we needed. - The location is perfect, and safe. The bed is awesome. The shower is about the best we have ever experienced in our travels. At night it is absolutely quiet, not one external sound - fantastic! The layout of the accommodation is just wonderful. Things like having ample bench space in the bathroom for two people means a lot, and is rarely found elsewhere. Also, having a walk in closet and hanging space for clothes is fantastic, this also is rarely found elsewhere. Our five nights there were a joy, and a delight. We would very highly recommend to anybody. We could not access the wifi nor the streaming options, however I am 76 and quite prepared to accept that this may have been solely due to my own technical limitations. The free to air TV was fine, and ok for our purposes, so no big problem.
- Rebecca (8/5): Very good -
- John (10/5): Wonderful accomodation and a very considerate and generous host. - The location is ideal - very close to the city and most of the places we wanted to visit, especially the botanical gardens, the zoo with the gorgeous pandas, and the art gallery. The cottage is charming as well as surprisingly roomy and beautifully decorated. Nothing!
- Dianne (9/5): Fabulous location for a visit to gardens - Rosie was very welcoming and helped us to settle in quickly. The location, close to the botanical gardens was perfect for us. Not too far to walk to dinner in Rundle street either. Breakfast was a ok but we had probably expected a bit more. There was bread from Coles and a box of variety cereals. Some fresh fruit would have been nice. The milk was fresh which was a plus.
- Robert (9/5): Superb -
- Sam (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lea (9/5): Superb -
- John (9/5): Great place to stay, quiet and peaceful, close to city, but in a beautiful old suburb of Adelaide. - Great location, close to city. Very comfortable, had everything we wanted, plus lots more, had everything anyone could want! Rosie a great host. Not sparkling clean, but as expected for an old property. Everything worked well. Small kitchen, but adequate for us. Very quiet and peaceful. Comfortable beds. As shown and described on booking.com. Would recommend to anyone. Nothing in particular.
Shower only ok, not great, but perhaps just a personal preference.
- Merinda (9/5): Restful ambience, well furnished and close to the botanical gardens - The studio was neat and tidy and beautifully decorated. The space was restful and we had everything we wanted. The locations fabulous near the botanical gardens and on bus routes. Brilliant bathroom and comfortable beds. The kitchenette dated but is clean and well stocked. It wouldn’t stop me returning.
- Helen (7/5): Stay in a beautiful cottage close to Adelaide CBD. - A beautiful large room with great facilities. The location is great walking distance to Rundle Street and the Botanical Gardens. It is also pet friendly. Comfy bed. Nothing.
- Terry (10/5): Exceptional -
- Pamela (3/5): Make sure the heat is fixed before staying here. - Good location, quaint, nicely decorated. We are very frequent international travelers, with Genius level 3 status. I have never needed to leave a property early before staying here.
The heat wasn't working properly, which the host knew prior to our arrival because she had a new remote on order. When we told her we were too cold, she provided an additional heater, but the cottage never got warmer than 61 degrees fahrenheit (17 celsius), and she told us there was nothing else she could do.
I ended up calling Booking.com the next day, and they immediately called her, which made her very angry. She came to the cottage and yelled at me, saying we weren't dressed properly.
We understand that things can go wrong, and we are normally very adaptable. But, we were just too cold to stay 2 additional days/nights. It was actually so cold that we had to put a blanket over top of the bottom sheet, because the sheet was so cold!
Booking.com says that the property owner is the one who needs to reimburse us for the nights we didn't stay there; that they can't give us a refund. This doesn't seem right, as she refuses to reimburse us.
- Bronwyn (9/5): Peaceful and relaxing cottage stay - Lovely cottage with old world charm, so very quiet and peaceful even though location very near to CBD. Rosie was an excellent hostess, making sure we had everything we needed and available if issues.
We really enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again when next in Adelaide. No issues
- Julie (8/5): Very good - Rosie was lovely. It was close to everything. Restaurants, shops, zoo, gardens and transport.
- Theresa (8/5): Very good -
- Su (8/5): we will love to return and will recommend - beautiful secluded
well appointed
central
- Rebecca (8/5): A very relaxing place. Ideally suited to exploring Adelaide - So quiet but only short walk to the city centre and museums Nothing
- Elizabeth (7/5): Good - Location was great Botannical Garden across the road & Adelaide City close by. The property needs a deep clean & garden needs regular maintenance.
- Guerrero (5/5): Passable - We paid for cleaning the cottage was dirty not to my standard The place was not cleaned dusty the shower was dirty . She didn't do check in with us . Very basics breakfast .
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good - The character of the property and the area was very pretty and quiet.
Walking distance to the botanical gardens and Adelaide CBD. It needed a bit of a clean but overall we were happy.
- Ian (9/5): Lovely property in a great location close to botanic gardens etc, in a quiet area. - Comfortable, relaxing place to stay.
- Hodder (9/5): Superb -
- Lindy (9/5): Superb -
- Steph (8/5): Very good - Great location, well-appointed, super comfy, great shower, great breakfast - loved our stay here in the super quiet Athelney Cottage. We'll be back next time. Lots to see and do nearby. Highly recommend the botanical gardens (and amazing flying fox colony!) plus the Adelaide Zoo both just within cooey.
- Glenda (10/5): Exceptional -
- Scott (10/5): Exceptional -
- Loretta (9/5): Stayed here with my mother and dachshund. We all had a lovely time! Good location for all of us. -
- Beth (8/5): Enjoyable stay. - Very central location - great for walking around Adelaide.
- Rebecca (10/5): Exceptional -
- Trish (7/5): Good -
- Bianca (9/5): Superb - Breakfast was a lovely touch having staples such as fresh bread and butter, milk with tea and coffee provisions, as well as cereal, chocolate, and juice. Cottage is beautiful and quite spacious and location is nice and quiet. Host was lovely and understanding when there was a payment mishap and having a parking permit is definitely handy for the 1hr street parking zone. Yard was suitable for a small dog but not a large dog so utilised the entire shared area. Let the dogs roam in main area but my dog kept barking at next doors dog and couldnt leave dogs there either in case next door opened the entranceway which is shared. I didn't like leaving my car out in the street but it's a quiet area so probably safe enough.
- Dora (10/5): Exceptional -
- Nicholas (5/5): good location, pet friendly, close to city, comfortable, but not great value. - The location was good (next to St Peters) and we were able to walk to the park and city and Nth Adelaide and we were able to bring our dog. Off street parking is good with a permit to ensure you do not get any tickets. The location is advertised as up to 4 people but this was by using camp beds for the 2 kids which is sort of ok, but not clear enough. When booking I had not completed the ages of the children correctly on booking.com so we had to pay an extra $35 per child per night which made no sense as their needs were no different if they were 10 or 17, they still used 1 camp bed and 1 towel etc. So when you add up the cost for 4 ppl in 1 room with 2 on camp beds, it was very expensive for what we were getting. We had an issue with communication relating to tradespeople turing up early on the day we were checking out which accelerated the process for check out.
- Matthew (9/5): Superb -
- Anthony (10/5): We walked to the city and Adelaide 500. We didn't use the car the whole time we were there. - Close to the City , Zoo ,parklands .
Adelaide 500 in walking distance.
Large room with beds lounges ,TV , dining table,
Large shower.
Kitchen with washing machine and dryer.
Very clean and tidy. all good
- Warren (8/5): Would definitely ask to stay here again for the Cricket in 2023 - Great locatuion. Lovely greeting & help & farewell from Rosie. Generous in provisions Height of basin in bathroom
- Wayne (7/5): Good -
- Jared (8/5): Very good -
- Deb (10/5): Comfortable and brilliant location - Comfortable and spacious with everything you need, fantastic central location, we walked everywhere. is very private and secluded with many thoughtful and considerate touches like the bottle of wine and plenty of breakfast provisions Not applicable, loved it all
- Francina (9/5): Superb -
- Jane (9/5): Spacious Parisian style apartment close to the city centre - Comfortable spacious dog friendly apartment with adjacent courtyard and Parisian ambience, within easy walking distance of the Botanic Park and river. Well equiped small kitchen with good supply of breakfast provisions.
- John (7/5): overall a pleasant vacation. - Close to the centre in a very quiet road with easy parking. Large lounge/bedroom and pleasant garden. comfortable bed. Well equipped. Needed a deep clean.
- Simone (9/5): Superb -
- Michelle (10/5): Rosie was an excellent host. - Terrific location with everything we needed. Nothing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We had an amazing time at Rosie’s cottage. The cottage is very cute and it has all the essentials you might need. Rosie was very hospitable. Perfect location, few minutes walk to the botanic gardens and 10 mins walk to the city centre.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Athelney Cottage is an extremely comfortable, tranquil haven, in close proximity to the city, as well as Adelaide’s beautiful parks and gardens. All the comforts one could imagine and a gracious host who pays attention to detail.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Athelney cottage was a little disappointing. It was very stuffy, no windows in the lounge/bedroom area, just double doors with no fly screens. The weather was hot and the outside area was dirty with birds droppings on the chairs and table so we couldn't sit outside. Over priced accommodation for what was offered.
- Michele (10/5): An Uplifting experience - Brilliant position able to walk easily into Adelaide CBD area and near to Botanical Gardens. Beautifully relaxing atmosphere and very clean throughout. Great shower. Dryer not working at the time but clothes dried quickly with heater on. Host unaware until told of same.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location, just on the edge of city centre - Great location, just on the edge of city centre, close to the botanical gardens.
Very nice host who was very informative about the area.
Overall i would recommend this apartment.
