Guest Reviews
- Jacqueline (10/5): Lovely and close to the beach - A beautiful attick apartment, lots of character, everything provided, quirky, like stepping back to a more gentile time. Lovely for adults. Interesting things everywhere you look. Noisy at times from TV downstairs.
- Audrey (9/5): Suited me - Location & comfort There was very little flat space unoccupied to set up laptop etc. a bit cluttered
- Jenna (8/5): A beautiful place to stay! - Beautiful property, clean and very comfortable The side laneway from the gate was very dark at night. It would be helpful to have a light on
- Paul (7/5): Our host was a lovely person and an obviously very caring person, reflected in the home. - There was plenty of choice available for breakfast. Tea, coffee and fruit juice were also plentiful. The stairs were challenging for a person my age. And the barking dog was annoying.
- matthew (6/5): -
- carol (9/5): A characterful, clean and comfortable place to stay in a lovely Glenelg suburb. - The place had lovely period decor, was well equipped, had a really comfortable bed and was a clean and cosy space. This property was a real home from home, two minutes from the beach and just an easy 15 minute walk to catch the tram into the city.
- Shyane (8/5): -
- Sean (1/5): -
- Michael (8/5): Very good - Very friendly & well thought out in the idea. Nothing worth mentioning
- Dumisani (9/5): Cost and comfy accommodation - Property was as advertised, beautiful and comfortable accommodations. Gas fire kept apartment cost during the cold Adelaide nights None
- Sharlene (9/5): Unique nostalgic experience, affordable in great location - Great location, unique stay, comfortable quiet with good amenities. Awkward navigation of luggage through path and up staircase but manageable and expected.
- Jo (8/5): It was a perfectly positioned cozy retreat. We enjoyed our brief stay the - The location was perfect for us. I liked the character of the property. It was lovely having breakfast left in the room and the kitchen was cleverly designed. The path was a little awkward to navigate with our suitcases. There were many ornaments, which could be decluttered a little to make it easier moving bags around.
- Nathan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kristen (6/5): Pleasant -
- Lynne (3/5): Poor - The location. Owner would not discuss issues with our booking. She was dismissive and did not consider special needs we may have had.
Today after we left she blamed booking.com for booking issues. The kitchen area could have been cleaner and there was dirty chipped crockery. There was a mat at the bottom of the stairs which is a slip hazard. Detail to cleaning could be better.
- Joseph (7/5): Good -
- Julie (10/5): Loved everything about our stay! Will love to return and stay again! - Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous accommodation, close to cafes, walk straight to the beach, gracious hostess, loved our stay!!
- Richard (4/5): I really don't like to give negative reviews as the owner seemed really nice but that's how we felt - Breakfast well milk that was off in a carton didn't help so no tea or coffee , there was bread and yogurt and cereal yes it was disappointing, the owner was very nice on phone but on arriving wasn't sure if it was the right place, like someone else said, the front entrance area looked like a garage sale was about to happen.. quite steep stairs and although very quaint in the flat there was so many Knick knacks everywhere, and a bath that was on 4 legs looked good but definitely not easy to use, and somewhat noisy with a barking dog...
- Christine (6/5): Pleasant -
- John (10/5): Exceptional - Location was perfect it was close to beach, pub's, cafes & Main street of Glenelg
- Dave (10/5): Exceptional - This was the cutest, most cozy location of our two weeks in Australia. The temps out were 40°C and above, so the air conditioner could do a great job on the bedroom, but not as much on the other rooms. Even so we had a wonderful stay.
- Wendy (10/5): A wonderful 2-night stay in a beautiful attic apartment. Would definitely recommend. - It’s a beautiful apartment, well-equipped, very homely. The temperature of the shower was difficult to regulate, and we felt slightly u steady given it was within a bath. The whole bathroom itself was delightful though.
- Liam (9/5): dreamy historic getaway very close to beautiful part of Glenelg - Great historic decor and building, comprising the entire attic floor of a lovely 2 storey, beautifully set up with bric-a-brac from yesteryear, marmelades and cereals etc included for breakfast, luxurious coffee machine with hand grinder, magnificent bathroom and bathtub in front of sunny window.
A new couch was installed too. The owner had a new puppy which was restless one evening when they were out, but I notified them and they resolved it promptly.
- Michael (6/5): Pleasant -
- Gandolfo (5/5): Disappointed - The location Furniture outdated and main couch uncomfortable. This is not a villa, our accommodation was an attic.
Limited cooking conditions available. Buyer beware.
- Ronald (8/5): Very good -
- Lane (9/5): Character home near the beach. - The location was great, a short walk to the esplanade and beach and to two different shopping/restaurant areas. Having the opportunity to stay in a beautiful character home was lovely. Very friendly and warm host who went out of her way to ensure the stay was restful and welcoming. The bed was particularly comfortable. Whilst fine for me, anyone who can't manage stairs or stepping into a standalone shower over bath may find access difficult. This is, however, part of staying in a character home so not unexpected and in fact a feature for those who like such experiences.
- Karen (6/5): Pleasant - It was really quiet That you had to go upstairs & the room was in the attic. We kept banging our heads on the ceiling where it sloped.
We never met the hosts.
- Kirsten (7/5): Nice, but could have been better. Actually building and space is lovely. - Location and potential charm. It is passed its heyday. Lots of clutter and stuff hidden or not so hidden all over.
- Cheryl (3/5): Misrepresentation of property a hoarders haven - Location Arrived at property was not as appeared in photo, front porch was cluttered with clothes shoes boxes etc, the garden path was a bit hard to navigate especially with luggage. The stairs leading to attic were quite steep. The fridge was not working, messaged the owner she offered an esky with ice as an alternative or buying a fridge the next day my reply was we would be eating out her reply so you don't need one then I stopped messaging. She brought a small carton of milk up when we were out in a jug with some ice cubes around the carton .The accommodation smelled musty and was quite dusty in places. The remote control for TV was not working. The sofa bed/lounge was torn and stained very low to the ground difficult to get up from or sit comfortably on without the fold out moving forward.
The owners property was stored under beds too much clutter used magazines piled in corners and under table used toiletries in the bathroom no hand holds to get in and out of the bath out of date products in kitchenette. The owners property was a hoarders haven as seen through the windows as we entering from the back. I would suggest tidying up the front porch the back yard and curtains or blinds to hide the mess from paying customers. De cluttering the accommodation and tossing away out of date and left over food, bathroom products and old magazines would be a start. Maybe leave a couple of extra toilet paper rolls instead of one.
- Jack (10/5): So cute and adorable English style loft was so lovely for our stay in Adelaide. - The beautiful English decor and comfy bed None
- Annette (8/5): Antique Charm - A charming residence with an eclectic mix of knick knacks harking back to a bygone era. Everything we could need was supplied and then some. The one bedroom attic suite had some nice quirky features giving it a lovely homey feel. it was also very quiet and the bed was comfortable. The continental breakfast selection was generous with plenty of options to suit most tastes. Just a short walk to the beach and a good beachside Cafe if you were looking for a hot breakfast or nice lunch. It suited us quite fine, but you could find the stairs a trial and getting in and out of the clawfoot bath for showering difficult if you have mobility issues. Also the ceilings are quite low in places (due to being an attice suite) so tall people would need to be aware.
- D (9/5): Lovely old period house. Well loved - The care that Kathy put into the space was obvious and lovely. The bed was super comfortable! What a lovely old house. I could imagine many child games in this attic room in its past! It was very tricky for us accessing the property. One of our party has artificial knees and found the stairs quite tricky. Probably our bad - we should have done more research. Perhaps if the stairs and access were mentioned in the description we would have chosen differently.
- Jennifer (9/5): Superb -
- Kris (8/5): Very good -
- Melissa (5/5): Passable -
- Steven (6/5): Pleasant -
- Markus (9/5): Superb -
- Vincent (9/5): We loved our stay in the cosy accommodation located so close to beautiful beaches with plenty of restaurants within clos - Very comfortable and cosy Not a draw back at all for us, but some older individuals might find it more difficult taking suitcases upstairs.
- Alan (8/5): The location was perfect for what we wanted to do. - The location was excellent, Close to public transport supermarkets shops beach and shops. Everything was good.
- Stephen (7/5): Good -
- Angelo (7/5): Lovely, quiet location with character, close to beach and restaurants - The location was great. Could walk to the beach and to the local restaurants. The host was very friendly. The accommodation is in the attic and has been renovated in keeping with the era of the house. There is a kitchenette available and laundry facilities. A lot of care and attention to detail. We were fine with the stairs but would be something to be aware of. Also, the beautiful clawfoot bath could possibly be a little confronting.
- Jess (9/5): Superb -
- Kirsty (8/5): Very good -
- Lee (8/5): Pleasant stay. Great location. - Location fantastic. Short walk to beach and restaurants. Cute cottage feel. Bath/shower combo is treacherous. And advertised 2 rooms but we had to share a room with a double and a single bed. Also a steep flight of stairs to carry up luggage so be aware of that.
- Nicole (9/5): Superb -
- Simone (8/5): Very good - Lovely, comfortable beds. The Attic was very clean and welcoming, the knick knacks were interesting. Kathy was very nice and easy to approach. Good location. The front yard did not present as it does in the photographs, which was slightly disappointing. (We thought we had arrived at a garage sale). Just needed a tidy up.
- Fiona (9/5): Superb - The location was great and good for value. Lots of clutter, less is best.
It's not a clear and easy path way to the stairs with your suitcases.
- Merridy (9/5): Very charming in a great location. - A beautifully appointed B’nB. The front yard was not very welcoming.
- Passmore (7/5): Good - Comfortable beds, close to the beach, nice decor, big bedrooms and bathroom. Only one small couch which was not comfortable, ceilings were very low and we kept hitting our heads. The shower over the bath was tricky to use.
- Susie (7/5): Despite these minor inconveniences, our overall experience was positive, and we appreciate the warm hospitality of the h - We had a delightful family stay at this accommodation! The location is superb, just a stone's throw from Glenelg and a plethora of excellent restaurants. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and friendly, making us feel right at home.
The beds were a highlight – incredibly comfortable, ensuring a good night's sleep after our beach adventures. The washer/dryer combo proved to be a lifesaver, especially with our frequent visits to the beach. It's important to note that this is an attic accommodation situated above the permanent residents. While we overlooked this detail during booking, it may not suit everyone's preference.
Upon arrival, we noticed that the garden appeared overgrown compared to the displayed pictures. Accessing the guest entry point was a bit challenging due to the plants, and on two unfortunate mornings, we encountered dog faeces on the walk path.
Inside, the attic was somewhat over-cluttered, and the curtains in both rooms needed attention. The fridge required fixing or replacement as it struggled to keep items cold. The couch was well-worn and lacked support, making it uncomfortable for extended TV sessions.
The bathtub posed a slight safety concern without a handrail for support during entry and exit. Additionally, be sure to bring mosquito repellent – the attic seemed to attract them.
- Ann (9/5): Beautiful renovated, fantastic location - Incredibly clean, very helpful host
- Enrico (10/5): Exceptional -
- Emily (8/5): Overall a great stay, a few minor accessibility concerns to be aware of. Good for a couple of days close to the beach - Great location and a comfortable stay Not overly accessible, need to pick suitcases up to get to the entrance gate and it’s then a very narrow staircase to get upstairs. The claw bath is also a bit scary. It was quite warm in the living space with only one small fan.
- Alison (8/5): I loved the location and it felt very homely - Loved the way it was decorated, very stylish with lots of lovely tinkets, the beds where super comfortable. I didn’t like the bath/ shower made me feel unstable when l showered.
- Kirsty (10/5): Will be back again - Very cosy atmosphere, loved the decor
Very clean and water pressure in the stunning bathroom just perfect
Felt right at home Nothing really , was great
- Fran (10/5): Exceptional -
- Lisa (8/5): Overall lovely old world charm, and brilliant location to the beach, tram to Adelaide, and local restaurants. - Owner was very welcoming, and provided supplies for a continental breakfast. Clean and comfortable beds. Great shower. Washing machine and dryer were available. Lovely old world ambience. Space under the beds needed a good clean, and was used for the owner’s personal storage. Fruit provided was possibly old and very dry. We discerned from previous questions to the owner that there was parking available. However, there was no parking for our car with a bike rack and bikes that we wanted secured. The owner did however offer for us to bring the bikes under her car port.
- Agata (10/5): Great host, beautiful apartment. -
- Wetzel (10/5): Exceptional -
- Katrina (1/5): Poor communication - Unfortunately my stay was marred by the poor communication from the owner. After a misrepresentation on the website about the room booking, to multiple unanswered calls and messages the owner still refuses to provide me a tax invoice or receipt of any kind for my stay. I paid in July and I am now $250 out of pocket for a work trip as I do not have a tax invoice and I was charged significantly more than the amount on the booking confirmation.
- Storm (10/5): Wonderful Host!!! Private Entrance and beautifully decorated and comfy bed - Such a fabulous location
Beautiful Decore
comfortable bed Nothing
- Martin (8/5): Chaotic start but all came good in the end . - Quiet. Lovely apartment. Very nice breakfast . Once we were able to access the apartment Kathy was very helpful A chaotic start . We were very surprised to learn that our room wasn't ready even though we arrived at 6.30.pm We had trouble contacting the host as her phone was out of battery .
- Victor (7/5): Good -
- Pam (6/5): Disappointed and embarrassed - Location was good with two good restaurants nearby. It was beautifully decorated with an eclectic style. The accomodation was not as advertised. Firstly it was in an attic with steep stairs ( when I booked, the site specifically said “ Attic unavailable” so assumed that the accomodation was on the ground floor. Secondly I booked a 2 bedroom apartment which on arrival proved to be one bedroom. With a double bed and a single bed. When I approached the owner about the second bedroom, I was told it was being used as a store room and would take 2 hours to prepare. Plus the price would be $400 instead of the $198 which I had already paid for 2 bedrooms
- Michael (8/5): Very good -
- Sarah (9/5): Cosy and comfy and beautifully decorated - The place was sparkling clean and very homely with every need catered for. The location was fantastic and we'll definitely be back. Kathy was very welcoming and friendly. I didn't realise until I got there that it was shared accommodation with the owner and that it involved a flight of stairs to get up there. It also mentioned a restaurant onsite and swimming pool that we didn't see.
- Mary (10/5): Exceptional -
- Despina (10/5): Exceptional -
- Vaughan (9/5): Superb -
- Colette (9/5): Brilliant place for friendly stay - Hosts Kathy and Georgia were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We loved the quirky attic rooms and for two of us (sister and brother)had plenty of space. There are so many personal touches in rooms -it is really interesting and clever use of space. It was lovely to have living flame fire in lounge which was cosy as we travelled in winter.Glenelg has lovely beaches ,restaurants and cafes and we enjoyed lovely walks along promenade in winter sunshine as well as spectacular sunsets.Location was adjacent to my aunt's complex who we were visiting for her 90th birthday celebrations but travel into Adelaide was easy on tram.We also saw International Women's football game in Cooper's stadium and atmosphere was terrific.Aussies are warm and welcoming and public transport excellent again with helpful staff. Only minor grumble was cooking facilities which were limited.Given excellent restaurants nearby this was minor .
- Jocelyn (10/5): Exceptional -
- Peter (10/5): Lover it! - Great property in great location
- Merril (10/5): Exceptional - very clean beds were very comfortable. having to leave car on road outside the bnb
- Rebekah (9/5): Fantastic location -
- Anonymous (8/5): Very good -
- Michael (5/5): With a few changes, as above I would stay again. - Located perfectly, lovely walk to beach and jetty Rd. The mattress need replacing in both rooms.
Bath drainage needs addressing.
Cat needs flea treatment, we all suffered had bites 😠
I don’t want to be negative, these are very quick and easy to fix and would make your place an exceptional stay.
- Stress (8/5): Very good -
- Melissa (8/5): Very good -
- Katia (9/5): Well located B and B . Clean and tidy accommodation very good value. - The location was excellent close to beach, transport and restaurants.
The accommodation was well presented with all the essentials. The living area was small and cosy.
The lounge was a bit uncomfortable.
- Chyrel (10/5): excellent, secluded attic stay - the comfort and ease of our checkin and out. plenty of everything, all we needed. great location and property was clean, great value with plenty for breakfast. I’d recommend it, pitty we only had one night. no parking on site, only street parking. we had to carry our bags upstairs, for older people they may find that more difficult.
- Keith (10/5): Exceptional -
- Kerry (8/5): Very good - Very clean and comfortable and great location. Had all mod cons in laundry facilities. Felt the shower over the bath a little daunting for us but looked great.
- Kerry (9/5): Water Bay Villa was a charming stay near all the best things in Glenelg. - It was a lovely stay and a nice surprise with all its charms. All was good.
- Lauritsen (9/5): Very quaint and lovely. - Great choice and very impressed. We kept bumping our heads on the gabled ceilings.
- Sharon (4/5): wont be rebooking - location and parking strong aroma of cat urine not aged or disability friendly. No warning cats on premises for allergies. stains on lounge
- Judith (10/5): beautiful homely accommodation in an excellent location for a great price. - it’s in a great location near the beach at Glenelg and close to airport and city. A beautifully decorated and specious attic, great for 2 people.
Large bathroom with shower over bath. delicious continental breakfast with fresh fruit. very completely. communication was initially a concern but it all resolved and worked out very positively
- Lisanne (8/5): lovely place to stay, excellent location - very comfortable beds and excellent location. Cute bed & breakfast and personable owner and daughter. we hit our head many times :)
- Mcfraser (9/5): Quirky, private attic apartment- home from home - A quaint and quirky property in a quiet location. Attic apartment with large bedroom and ensuite. Everything we expected and needed for our stay and lovely breakfast items included. Bus stop round the corner and tram 10 minutes away for easy access to the city. Nothing- just our thing! We could have stayed longer.
- Denise (9/5): Superb - Location lovely little cottage
- Zhao (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yong (4/5): Disappointing -
- Alyson (8/5): Very good -
- Amelie (10/5): Exceptional -
- Fintan (10/5): Exceptional -
- Mohit (8/5): Very good -
- Karen (10/5): Exceptional -
- Jennifer (8/5): Very good -
- Liz (3/5): stairs going up to loft accommodation should be more obvious in the description - the location was good narrow stair case up to the accommodation and the air conditioning didn’t work and it was very hot upstairs in the loft
- Wilhelmina (8/5): Very good - Old worldy charm and very comfortable. The accommodation was well catered for. The tapered ceilings which caused.many a head knock.
