Guest Reviews
- Victory (10/5): - it was very good
- Letecia (8/5): - I booked for my brother and his wife.
- Raymond (2/5): hotel was closed. - this hotel was locked with a chain on the door. hotes.com left us stranded in the city with no place to stay. they are refusing to refund the booking. we will not be using them again.
- michaelkO39RJ (4/5): Not fully satisfied with my second stay. - Ive stayed at this hotel twice now. It is an older type hotel with rooms that could use some refurbishing. They put me all the way in the back right next to the construction going on, no window. When I checked the bathroom there were feces on the bottom of the toilet for some reason somebody forgot to flush. Was charged 380 pesos for bringing someone into my room past 10pm. On top of the 1,500 they already charged me. Other than that the guard and the front desk people were very nice. There is a 711 store just around the corner which is convenient.
- Kat (10/5): room is larger than most in the area, well equipd - had a pleasant stay. the staff are accommodating. the room is larger and more comfortable than i expected. though there are newer hotels in CDO, this one was well maintained. i would recommend this
- Pit-os (2/5): It's old and too far from that was shown in the pi - A hotel that's in the middle of the market with a very poor facilities. Not worth your money paid.
- Nicole (10/5): - Nice and very clean
- elda (10/5): Great vacation - Great hotel. Felt safe. Secure. Clean. Good location.
- jennifergE713TR (6/5): Ok hotel. Nothing to rave about. - An old hotel in the heart of CDO. The room was just ok. Only 1 out 2 elevators were functioning. No staff will guide to your room upon checkin. Staff are friendly 'tho I think they are undermanned.
We requested for a "tabo" (dipper) and here's what I got.... a camouflage themed tabo. The photo speaks for itself.
Bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste. Only soap, shampoo and conditioner are available. No hair blower as well.
Bring extra extension cords if you intend to charge phones, laptops and other other gadgets at the same because there is only 1 electical outlet in the room.
- Hector (4/5): Location is ok but WiFi poor - WiFi too poor
I requested for cleaning up my room. Blankets were not changed they were just fixed back on place
- Jayson pol (6/5): Good place to stay. - Checking in takes time, longer than any other hotels I have stayed in International. Concierges were not that hospitable.
Good location, food is ok, hotel price is ok, area looks safe and I like the indoor pool and gym, the hotel has lots of restaurants to dine too thats pretty awesome.
My stay overall is good.
- smazhar (6/5): Great room but very dirty toilet - Upon entering the room, I was a great pleasure seeing the high ceiling and nice floor, the room was very specious as well. However when I entered the washroom it was terrible
- very dirty
-mismatched old flip flop left on bathroom
-stain on bathroom wall
-Tthe water in the sink was yellowesh
-leaky bathroom
Also the room had no safety vault to keep the personal belongings like passport, credit card and money.
The washroom was so bad condition that I declined to take a shower there.
So unfortunately I can't recommend this to anyone. I hope this kind of review get attention of the owner and fix these issue.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Overall this is a fairly nice motel. The internet was a bit hit and miss. the room was big and comfortable. staff was very courteous. there is a small mall a short walking distance away and some places to eat.
- MundaneTraveler (6/5): Friendly and helpful staff - The friendly and helpful staff does not overcome the dated rooms and poor management of this establishment. The fixtures are dated or incomplete and we were charged for items we never used. The breakfast is not included. There are many, better places to stay in CDO. We won't stay here again.
- altheaisabelr (4/5): not so bad...but neither good - I had to stay for 2 nights here because of a business trip. They didn't have any room boy to direct me to my room and make sure that the room was okay. I have to find it myself and try to operate stuffs experimentally! 1st night, there was no cable! the receptionist said that it's the cable operator's fault or something.
The room was clean. They clean it everytime I was out. The air conditioning was great. But I heard tapping noises inside the closet or somewhere near it. Considering that they didn't have a cable to drown out the noise during the first night, it was creepy.
The shower is spacious although the hot shower is not that hot. It was even cold at night. The towels they provided looked clean but the color was leaning more on dirty white. Looks old to me.
Restaurant was so-so...Breakfast was included in my accomodation so I ate there. They only have 5 choices for beeakfast (plated, no buffet). The rice looks NFA. Staff was also not visible, I had to check the kitchen so I can place my order. Also, restaurant is closed after 9 pm. You can have your meal delivered from fastfood though.
I think the hotel is understaffed. I only saw 4 during my stay; the receptionist, the guard, the kitchen staff and the one who looks like the roomboy but I'm not so sure. He didn't even have any shoes on!
Overall, I wish my company booked me somewhere else. The price they charged wasn't reasonable. I already experienced staying in a hotel who charged lower but with better services.
- travellernothappy (2/5): charges for everything - asked for an extra bed, charged 580 without linens, pillows &blanket.i have to pay for each amenitie.towels?charge.im too scared to ask about the wifi they might charge it too.their receptionist doubles as the housekeeping personnel.too pricey for a very bad service.hot and cold showers busted as well.dont book unless unplan to ruin ur trip.
- vinnievinnie452014 (2/5): Love stress? Go and check in at this hotel, they'll never fail. - Their hot and cold water showers are busted. for three nights I've been having a very cold to an extremely hot shower. Their receptionist is trying to be a plumber that night. They have to check the water temp themselves, as if their customers are lying. I ended up showering in the next adjacent room and the receptionist is just standing there guarding as I strip naked. Pricing is kinda tricky. You'll be surprised that their breakfast is billed separately on top of your room stay!
- idrovoviva (6/5): "good if you get the junior suite through AGODA" - I have booked this hotel through my Agoda´s account, and couldn´t be more happier as got the best Junior Suite among hotels in Cagayan de Oro-Philippines for just USD 63, including breakfast!.
Room was quite spacious and well furnished. I even got an upgrade to their Premium Suite with no charges, cool. Although their restaurant is ordinary and very low end, the food was quite good and very tasty, so better to have it at your room. This is an old hotel that has been renovated and would still need some other improvements like the bathtub, but in turn the bed was excellent so as the living room.
The Staff was gentle and friendly, in fact they granted all of my inquiries fast and accurate, that´s something I look aside of the quality of the room.
If you are for business and will spend most of the time outside of the hotel, then is truly a must!
- joydc (2/5): STAPLE WIRE IN MY RICE! - I had our breakfast delivered in our room and i was surprised to see a staple wire in my rice! Fortunately; I saw it while I was sharing my food with my 2-year-old son. I instantly called front desk; she apologized and she asked if I still have the staple wire. I told her that I will check it again, because I might have already thrown it in the trash already. I forgot that I placed it on the lid of the glass mug, so I called again to confirm that it was still with me, but I was disappointed not to be taken seriously this time when I heard a cheerful voice that she was more like chuckling on the other end while answering me. Before we checked out, I asked the hotel manager if she knew about the staple wire and she simply said "yes." without any apology???? VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!
- Happydayz1 (8/5): Nice Hotel but needs price reduction - Comparing this hotel with others in CDO it is overpriced. The rooms are nice and are spacious, clean and somehow hold the noise from other rooms. The hotel is located closely to major shopping, fast food and restaurant properties. The breakfast is Filipino orientated but you can add to it at a cost of course, but these are reasonably priced. Generally a good stay and will use this Hotel again and recommend for others.
- PeterGonzalez (10/5): Enjoyable Maxandrea - I spent nearly a week in this hotel with my companion and I found nothing I could complain about.
It was clean, the staff was very attentive and though it wasn't a 5 starts accommodation, everything was just right. Very accessible from the city centre and with reasonable prices.
- 894chrisc894 (4/5): Way overpriced at 2500 pesos per night - Way overpriced at 2500 pesos which didnt even include breakfast!
The rooms were spacious but when you looked closely there was still evidence of the previous tenants and the room service finished way before the illustrated time
Taking into consideration its location I would put this place at max 1500 pesos per night not worth a cent more
- sweetchick03 (6/5): Room was good, but service really is a turn off.... - I have stayed in Maxandrea for more than three times in a span of two years. Room was good, it had all the amenities to pass up as a good room.Location was also a few blocks away from Divisoria (city center), and numerous fastfood. I just did not like the service rendered by front desk. although not all of them, I have experienced being shut out while explaining my case. apparently, we had an issue on payment settlement since it will be paid by the company. I wouldn't mind staying here again, if the company is paying. If it will by own money, then I'll settle for a better place.
- Niko_sta (8/5): Nice hotel in the heart of the CDO - I bargain Presidential suite for 6 nights stay really reasonable price. Room was really spacy with kig size bed , minibar and big flat tv. 2 balcanies and lot of noice reason hard traffic on the roads. Breakfast was simple and every morning the same. Front desk service really friendly but as always in Philippines credic card transaction slow. This is one of the most modern hotel in Cagayan, even elevators were good:)
- shadylady51 (6/5): So so hotel - We intially stayed at a budget hotel across Maxandrea btu decided to move because it was just nasty. As for Maxandrea, i liked that their bathroom is spacious, the water pressure is really strong and i was very clean. The staff were friendly too. The only thing I did not like about this is their breakfast, which is a plated. And they offered instant coffee, not even brewed. I was expecting more because it was pricier than most hotels nearby and it's a HOTEL, not an INN. Also, the bed was too small. They initially gave us a room with 2 beds but since we're a couple, we asked for another room with a bigger bed. They gave us a room with a SINGLE bed. Slightly bigger than the one we were supposed to get. I was too tired so we just stayed there. It was the owner who entertained us and she did not seem friendly at all. Considering the hotel is not packed, they could have given us a better room with a bigger bed.
- AMERICANMAN42 (8/5): Maxandrea is best in Cagayan - I am a real person with a real review. When I went to cagayan de oro I had no reservation and had a taxi help me search different hotels. Most were really crappy for an American and did not seem totally safe. There was one hotel called the Pryce Plaza, which was a nice place but way too expensive, especially for the Philippines. Then there was the VIP hotel which was not that bad, a lot less expensive, but still fairly dirty and on a somewhat unsafe street. Not far from the VIP was the Maxandrea. If I remember correctly, my room was about $60 a night and it was a suite or something. I actually talked them down quite a bit on a one week stay. So don't be afraid to bargain. They had a security guard at all times at the entrance who would keep unwanted people out and he also fagged taxis for me. It was also safe leaving my valuable in the room, and the staff was very personal. Tipping will go a long way there and it doesn't need to be much. They helped me find a rental car, and gave me much advice on how to be safe and good places to go. very professional run. One tip is, don't drink the tap water. Just go to the store and buy a case of bottled. They have air conditioning and refrigerators, which is real important to people not from there. and if the water in the toilet seems dirty, that because the city water is dirty, there is nothing the hotel can do. Oh one more tip.....always eat at fancy restaurants(its cheep), or sealed store bought food. If you eat street food(leachon chicken)....you can get food poisoning or sick from the city water in the drinks. Also, watch out for refilled coke bottles in small stores. Have fun! Maxandrea is safe, nice, and affordable.
- Lala_md (6/5): Maxandrea Hotel- Ok but Nothing to rave about - I stayed there during a conference and other hotels were fully booked. I stayed for a week. I had a pick-up and drop-off to the airport arrangement with the Hotel costing Php 1,000. There is Wi-Fi in the rooms and you get 1 hour for free, above that you pay for.
The Hotel is located in the City. Taxis are easy enough to come by. And it's a short drive to Divisoria which on weekends is their nightlife area (Like Malate). For Shopping and Dinning, the Limeketkai Center is a 15 min drive.
The room I booked was the Supreme Suite which was spacious. The hotel rooms are clean, tidy which we apreciate. But there are several things they need to work on specially when it comes to amenities:
- The complimentary water/cofee and tea was never refilled after the 1st day during the entire week I was there. Which should not be for a 3 star Hotel
- When they clean the room daily, I appreciate the fresh towels, but they always forget to provide me soap & shampoo. I had to call the front desk daily to send me some to my room. And they only provide 1 toothbrush & 1 slipper in the room. Considering I paid for 2 persons, and I was in their suite.
-all the floors except the 7th floor, are SMOKING floors. When you enter your bathroom at the end of the day after being outside, you can smell the cigarrettes and you have to turn on the exhaust fan. They had only 2 supreme suites and none of them was on a non-smoking floor (7th flr)
-The food is nothing to rave about. They have limited choices on their menu. They only have 5 choices for breakfast. It's ok if you will be staing 1 or 2 days but for a week, it was depressing.
-There is a bussiness center (where there's nobody there), a gym that's closed, and no spa. Relaxation here is out.
-Airconditioning needs works. The rooms weren't cold enough.
-Keep guest requests to a minimum. Although in general the staff is friendly and courteous, We had to go out early and requested for an early breakfast, they refused to accomodate us and there were 3 couples request that for the same day because we were going to Camiguin on a tour.
-If you need to arrange tours, call one of the local travel agencies. The hotel doesn't arrange any tours.
If I were to stay here again it would be ok with me, but I'd try the other hotels first.
