- Verified traveler (2/5): Not Enjoyable. - I emailed the property after I made the reservation asking for a ground floor room. They responded they have no rooms on the ground floor, but would give me one on the second floor. When I arrived they said they had no second floor rooms so gave me a 3rd floor room. No elevator at this hotel BTW. They had no porters to help with bags. The stairs were shallow and it was definitely not safe going up the stairs with two bags. Once I got to the room the wifi password would not work. Ok, I had enough of this place. I hauled my bags back downstairs and checked out 20 minutes after checking in. You may like this place, but it wasn't for me. They wouldn't refund the room. The room and transportation costs was over $200. Hope they enjoy the free money. Maybe they can now at least hire a porter.

Front door was kept locked at night for added security. I will stay here again. It is clean, comfortable, and the staff are the best.
- peter (8/5): - Hotel is good value for the money. It’s in the center of Barreto and is surrounded by a wide variety of restos/bars. I was lucky to have a room not facing the street (which I would imagine to be quite noisy with traffic). Definitely recommend!

- John (10/5): My Views - I stayed for 5 nights. Staff were available 24 hours and very helpful. Room was spacious, clean, well laid out and a safe provided. The ensuite was adequate but dated. There’s no bar and a continental style breakfast available. I will have no hesitation in staying there again
- Sammypla (8/5): Nice budget hotel - If you are on a budget, this is certainly the place to be! I have stayed at this hotel a few times and really liked it. Ok, there is no swimming pool, but beach is just across the street, as there are many bars and restaurants at walking distance as well. Staff is friendly and roomsare basic and clean. A thank you to I think here name was Mica from the reception, since when I checked in the amenities where not as mentioned on the agoda website. But, after a short chat with Agoda, always settled.

I didnt have a street facing room but still very noisy. Wouldn't stay again due to the hardness of the mattresses. Ended up waking up 4x per night due to a sore back from it. I stayed here to dive with Mangos which was more or less across the road.

- John (4/5): You get what you pay for. - Room was very noisy. May as well have been outside. Bed only had a sheet. Asked for a blanket and received another sheet. The A/C worked great. Remotes were not functioning. The hot water pump in the shower was plugged in just above and to the side of the shower head with what appeared to be a ground wire hanging to the side. The staff was friendly. Overall this is a classic case of you get what you pay for. Would not stay here again.

- NikB605 (6/5): Modern clean hotel...appalling service - On checking in for 3 days I paid for my room cash up front and was shown my room. A few hours later received a text to say the room I was given was more expensive and I could either pay the difference or leave. After an argument I opted to pay the diff. but despite all the credit card signs on the counter the receptionist could not accept my card as she did not know how to operate the machine. I could not connect to the internet and was told if I looked on my key tag the password was there. However they soon discovered they had put the wrong password on my key. That night I found the new bedside lamp did not work, nor could I open the safe which was locked. The website stated tea and coffee were provided in the room, there was none, it also mentioned a bed cover or duvet, yet my bed had a single thin sheet. the bar fridge had a list of drink prices taped to the door, but was empty. The glass window was smashed and the broken glass held together with sticky tape (Picture provided !) On leaving I was told I did not need to pay the difference on the room !!

- Adriel (6/5): Good for those on budget & are not expecting much - The room was OK for the price. We had the superior room for only p1,400. We turned off the aircon in the middle of the night since it was noisy. Tried using the ceiling fan instead. However, turned it off as well since it was noisy too. Good thing, the weather was good and we had a good night's sleep even though we didn't use the aircon and fan. For security, the chain lock for our door was missing. We slept with one of the chairs on the door (just in case). We only stayed to sleep. We left early since we had nothing to do. Also, we booked at a time where there was construction in front of the building. Entering the building through the main door was a little bit dangerous. However, they made the resto entrance the temporary entrance of the pub. Was a little shocked only when i entered the resto since nobody had a face mask on. Again, for p1400 you won't expect much. The good points are the clean, spacious superior room and bath, and the walk to the beach. Enjoyed the cable as well since we got tired of netflix. 😅 Will we go back? maybe but not likely.
- mgbanezphototgraphy (6/5): More of a transient than a hotel - The location is at the heart of Olongapo city, a lot of bars and restaurants around but the place itself does not have in-house restaurant. This hotel is for sleeping and a plave to leave your things while you roam around the city or go to Baloy beach. They do have a garage but only 4 sedans can fit in and also if you are an experienced driver, you will be able to maneuver in tight spaces that you need to pass through to get to their parking area. The staff are accommodating and very nice and the place is pet-friendly. It is very difficult to look for places that would allow pets. When we get back to Olongapo, we'll definitely check in here again.
- miss_piaalba (6/5): Basic Accommodation - Not beachfront but it was pet-friendly that’s why we chose it. It was a bit dark and a bit smelly. It was generally clean and people were pleasant. Wifi was ok. There was no lift therefore if you cant take stairs ask for the rooms at lower levels. Traffic noise can be heard in room 15.
- James (4/5): BED BUGS - At about 3:00 AM in the morning I was a wake by a painful itch. I got out of bed to see both my legs with dozens of bed bug bits. I went down to the front desk to tell them and ask for a spare room. there were no spare rooms, but they gave me a can of bug kill and fresh linen. This is not how a hotel should be ran or how guest should be treated.

They have spacious room and very friendly staff. AC in the room is not getting cold enough thats why i give them 3 star. even if we inform them they didnt offer us to move to a new room.
- eduardrivera1 (8/5): Great Value - Had a Business Trip at Subic, Zambales. I had an overnight stay at this Hotel. Lobby is simple with a smell like a spa. Rooms are little small but adequate. Stairs has a tall steps, which might not be good for seniors. No breakfast is included but the Hotel has a resto downstairs which has expensive food. Wifi connection is good but a little slow at times. lobby is turn to be noisy at nights

Great location near baloy beach other attractions close by and great transport links, via jeepey or trike. Or if you want to go further afield they’ll arrange a fly the bus. Great food at the the pub downstairs, pool tables and good priced beers. What more you need.
- jess (8/5): My choice for barrio barretto. - The pub hotel isn't full service and doesnt have an elevator. You'll have to lug your own luggage. The staff, front desk and maid service was excellent. Very friendly and professional. The water temperature in the shower did vary. And i felt one drop on the bed from the ac unit. There is street noise as the hotel is on the main street. Minor inconveniences i can live with. Can walk to everything you may need. Good place at a bargain price.

Right on main road so expect traffic noise. Good enough that I will stay at the Pub Hotel until I leave the Philippines.

Close by to many restaurants and entertainment. Laundry is very affordable. Will come back if I come to Subic again.
- hkkiwi2019 (6/5): It is just ok... but beware of the Hotel Taxi Service - they rip you off! - We were a party of 8 people and booked 3 rooms. The rooms were clean, very basic, the rooms don't really match the photos online - the room condition is much poorer than the photos online. The Deluxe Family, is not deluxe at all, very simple and basic, misleading name. The water pressure in the rooms are next to nothing in the shower. 2 of the 3 rooms had air conditioning problems, one kept leaking and we needed to move the bed away from the wall, the other did not cool properly no matter what temperature it was set at . The Front Office staff and Housekeeping were really friendly apart from when we complained about the Hotel Taxi they arranged ripped us off. BEWARE OF HOTEL TAXI ARRANGED BY THE HOTEL We wanted to visit Zoobic Safari and the Hotel arranged a Taxi by the company name of JUDE and he charged us P800 one way from the hotel for a 7 seater car - although a little more expensive than we expected, we did't think it was excessive, UNTIL we got out to Zoobic and realised that it is a hard to get car service back, so we spoke to the driver and he suddenly said that it would be P2500 return. Shocked we had no choice but to pay him. We did not end up to take the taxi all the way back to the Pub Hotel, we asked to be dropped earlier in Subic Freeport - Waterfront Street. The price remained the same. We ate dinner at Gerry's Grill - highly recommended and we asked the restaurant to arrange another taxi to take us back to the hotel. We didn't tell the driver what happened to us earlier, but we did ask him how much he would charge to take us from the Pub Hotel to Zoobic, wait for us for the 2 - 3 hours it takes for the guided tour and return us back to the hotel - he gave us a price of P1500 - so it was at this point that we realised we got ripped off by P1000 by the Hotel Taxi Service. Also, the car provided by the JUDE company is very old and uncomfortable. Apart from our bad experience with the Driver, as mentioned the hotel staff were otherwise friendly. I am not sure that we would return, we found plenty of newer options available in the same area for similar price.

This was not the place we were booking, not Olongapo but we booked SAN Antonio one hour drive away. You must refund the total amount charged by Monday. Aircon was dripping on my head so I had to move the bed from under it. The pub was great with good prices and friendly atmosphere.
- cyrils0923 (6/5): Great Location - Family decided to spend the Christmas in Subic last minute and we're able to book 3 superior rooms here. + CLEAN, despite the lack of staff because of the holiday season, the rooms and the lobby were kept spotless, presentable and fragrant. + Spacious, the rooms had plenty of space even for couples with kids. + Pet friendly, we're able to bring our lovely Chow-chow - The free breakfast was okay, bacon, egg, toast, but the pub/bar/kitchen was smelly - Staff were nice, not amazing I would go back to this place if I don't have much choice as it's comfortable and clean, but it's not the best value for money option, IMO.

Nothing fancy and no extra amenities, but the hotel offers hot showers, a/c, and flat screen tv. The hotel is located on a busy main highway close to several local eateries and businesses. Don't expect to see a view of the beach or the bay. This is not the place to stay in if you are looking for a resort type of lodging.

- Gian-Bear (10/5): What a perfect place to stay The Pub” - Located on main street at the end of Barretto, just 5/10 minutes "relaxed" walking form everything (action as well as beach) The Pub is a perfectly conducted place. From when you step inside the feeling of a clean and bright place. Staff very friendly, smiling but at same time well trained to be respectful and with manners. Same goes for the rooms, spacious clean, bright, nice furnished(all solid wood). I've been in a few places in Philippines and frankly even everything was acceptable I can say if you are from "West" there is always something you need "adapt" during your stay. Well, this is completely different for The Pub; is the only place where you can clearly feel the touch, dedication and the care for details from European mind. And still at very reasonable price. I will 102% recommend. A little hint: if you have some additional (reasonable) requirement for your stay, do not hesitate to write. I got answer withing 2 minutes and the owner really try his best.

- F8620OCbrianh (2/5): One Problem after Another - First night shocked awake by key in room door at 2AM. 3 AM jumped out of bed with no clothes on to fight off intruder, thought I was being robbed. Unannounced housekeeper at 3AM (!!!!) barged past shoes wedged against door, do not disturb sign ignored. Apologies were accepted. Had to insist on linen changes. Room heavily flooded with rain water TWICE. Returned to room mid-day and housekeeper forgot to lock my door! Insect cocoons all over the walls. Dialed down shower water pressure. Not recommended. Front desk lady very helpful or I would have cancelled night 1 of 7 nite stay. Mgr showed genuine concern. Expats advised sea water not safe for swimming.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Endless Problems - First night startled awake by door knob to room be jiggled at 2AM. At 3AM intruder entered room as I jumped out of bed NAKED ready to fight thinking I was being robbed. Profuse apologies all around as staff barged in ignoring do not disturb sign and shoes wedged against door as no safety chain or latch on door. Sheets not being changed on bed took 2 requests to remedy. Floor seriously flooded 2 nights from rain water. Insect cocoons hanging all over the walls. Shower water pressure dialed down to a minimum. Bed very firm, almost hard. Surrounding entertainment area almost a ghost town. Beach across street must pay for access, and unsightly. Must travel for nice sandy beach. NOT recommended. Soap provided is paper thin and crumbles into nothing before shower is done.
- Penny_Montes (8/5): Budget Hotel - This is a budget hotel. We booked a family room for 4 for an overnight stay just to have a place to be rested in our whole day roaming in Subic for P3,125.00 (inclusive of breakfast for 4) and that was great. The hotel is old but not an issue since it is clean. We had a good night sleep. The plated breakfast includes 2 eggs, bacon, a choice of rice or bread and coffee or iced tea. There is parking at the back of the hotel. Yes, there are many foreigners checking in but I don’t see any problem since they looked decent. Overall, our stay in this hotel is good.

- DavidW8930 (8/5): Nice place to stay. - The room was nice, it was in the front of hotel so some street noise but ok. The room was kept clean by hotel staff on a daily basis The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant serves up a great breakfast and other meals during the day as you wish, all food in the restaurant is fresh daily as the restaurant owner spends the early morning hours shopping for high quality foods for his customers to eat.
- fatgirlsdayout (4/5): It's not a hotel, it's a motel - From the moment we saw the daunting sign, we knew it was not going to be a nice place. All reviews pointed to it being clean, comfortable and accessible. For starters, parking was very difficult. When we entered the room, we immediately noticed the hard bed, old fixtures, and the molds on the bathroom. Service was okay, and the free breakfast was decent enough but the guests were also an array of foreigners looking to hook up with call girls. Not a conducive environment if you have kids. No pool, no access to the beach.
- Michael (8/5): - The room I stayed in was functional. It was on the 3rd floor, but there was no elevator. It has a very good location to check Barrio Baretta. I would definitely recommend it to anyone.
- D (10/5): - Most hotels in this price range have foam mattresses, old, noisy through-the wall A/C units, noisy refrigerators and sewer gas smells coming from the bathroom drains. Pub had quiet split-system A/C, fridge located in cabinetry (turn the dial to cold when you move in) and a bathroom that didn't smell bad. Spring mattress. Sheets and towels were clean and changed daily upon request. Wifi worked fine. Very quiet at night. Halls can get noisy during the day, but who wants to be there during the day? There are no views from these rooms- the windows are translucent glass block. Hotel provided soap, toothbrushes & toothpaste. There is a 500 deposit when you move in for the junk food, or you can just ask them to remove it instead. No phones in the rooms, but rooms have doorbells and staff will knock on your door if guests arrive for you. Guests can leave freely. Key can be removed from hotel ring and put on your own key ring, which is how I like it. Cheaper online than walk-in.

- Don (6/5): I would like to recommend this hotel, but can't. - This room would have been a good value if it had been in good condition, but it wasn't. The bathroom sink was totally stopped up on my arrival.....I told them at the front desk and they called somebody, but if the drainage improved any, it was hard to notice. The air conditioner ran all the time, but never got the room cold, it must have been low on freon. There was one of the three days that I stayed there that the maids never got around to cleaning it. The tv only got half the channels it was supposed to, they were not able to fix it during the time that I was there. And the internet went down multiple times, once for most of a day (although that one was a wide-spread outage, not the fault of the hotel). If management is reading this, it's room 8!
- Shai (8/5): Comfort VS Location - Affordable. Stay was pleasant except that the location is at night club area. There's free water on dispenser on the hallway outside the hotel room, but you could taste something. Bathroom soaps were thin. There is no bidet.

- haydn (8/5): Worth considering in Barrio Baretto - The pub is well located in Barrio Baretto across the main road from the beach. It is a well presented property; not new but well maintained and has an attached restaurant. The room are a good size, well air conditioned and comparable with others in the area. Shame that there seemed to be no common space to chill out in.

We didn't order breakfast because it was pretty expensive, but there was a very nice German bakery nearby. The building/furniture may seem older, but it was clean and comfortable. Would book again.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Very clean hotel, very good location - The hotel is very clean, the staff is amazingly helpful. I particularly likes its location because its on one end of 'the strip,' vice in the middle so its closer to the water, only a 10-15 minute walk, yet its next to all the bars and music venues. If you want on the water, you're going to pay. But if you want an economical, very clean hotel that is smack dab in the middle of the action (bars on your left, water on your right) then this is it. One note...if traffic noise bothers you, might want to ask for a room away from the front, as the hotel sits on the national hwy. Didn't bother me, but I'm a city boy.

As other reviews have mentioned there is no lift so only for the able bodied traveller but it's only a 3 story building so not an issue otherwise. Recommended.
