Not only were the staff a delight, the guests were as well. I mean the toilets are loud but I only say that because they scared my 2 year old.

- jessicamM7474FZ (2/5): Cockroaches & Horrible Customer Service - If I could give negative stars, I would. Our stay was extremely disappointing from start to finish. Not only did we feel uncomfortable with housekeeping handling personal belongings while we were out (I personally witnessed this upon returning to the room), but the most concerning issue was finding a live cockroach crawling across our floor on Easter Sunday. At that point, we no longer felt safe staying. We immediately packed up all of our belongings, thoroughly checked everything, and left that same night—driving seven hours home in a storm. No guest should have to worry about bringing pests back home from a hotel stay. To make matters worse, it has now been four days with no response from hotel management. When contacting corporate, the only resolution offered was points, which is unacceptable given the circumstances. The lack of urgency and accountability is incredibly frustrating. The cleanliness of the room was also below standard. While it may appear fine at first glance, walking barefoot for just a short time left our feet noticeably dirty. Additionally, during a busy holiday weekend, only one elevator was operational, leading to long wait times—especially difficult when traveling with small children. Overall, this experience completely ruined our spring break vacation. Between the cleanliness issues, pest problem, and poor customer service, I would strongly recommend staying elsewhere.

Manager nowhere to be found not a single staff member to handle any issue for customers. Main Holiday inn customer service passes the buck. Do not stay at this establishment unless you have an exterminator on speed dial.

Unfortuneately there was a smoke alarm that went off and we had to evacuate for 25 minutes to 30 minutes. The dune view was nice but on one side was blocked by the building.

As I was traveling alone I appreciate the safety there and the safe parking area. There was a very noisy group there on Friday night. I realize that my room’s proximity to the pool was a factor. The staff members were wonderful and quick to react to any concerns, despite the 100% occupancy of the property. The breakfast was as good as it gets. Room cleanliness not as thorough as expected, with many instances of areas that were overlooked.

Loud guests until 11 (really just people checking in but also talking to people on first floor from second floor landing) and due to the open floor where you check in voices carried a lot. Vickie was the lady who took care of the breakfast buffet every morning & she was awesome! Very friendly & went above & beyond in her work ethics making sure everything was clean & well stocked. The breakfast choices were very nice too - especially loved the coffee machine that ground each cup fresh. Would definitely recommend!

They were clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and helpful. The foods available during breakfast were varied. Bonus: the coffee is freshly ground. You can walk to the beach from the hotel. Heads up: There is only one room available with a bathtub, all others have walk-in showers.

I booked a stay here through chase travel and had to cancel last minute because I had a blood infection and was admitted into the hospital. The manager denied my request to reschedule. Very disappointing for us. Giving up thousands of dollars in future revenue from a regular customer to keep 300 dollars seems silly. It’s not about money. Fortunately we have plenty of that. It’s about being understanding and compassionate. A bit of a lost art these days
- Mary Jane (6/5): - Room had a great view and the beds were comfortable, especially the sheets. But the room had a terrible fish smell. I don’t think it was from the ocean. It was primarily in the entry way of the room, like maybe someone had put their dirty fishing boat shoe there.
- Krista (6/5): Balcony door - My room was clean, the staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable. However, it was really windy outside so the balcony door constantly rattled. In the middle of the night, it sounded like someone was forcibly trying to open the door. I got very little sleep because of it. The latch that keeps the door closed needs to be a little longer on the short end so the door doesn't rattle back and forth.

- Thomas (8/5): - From my experience, most oceanfront hotels that are anything close to affordable, are usually worn down by the sun, the sand, the salty sea air, and the nonstop hordes of people who pass through these properties. The good news is that this one seemed only mildly tired as of September 2025. The location worked well for us. Right on the beach and centrally located so we were able to visit both the northern and southern areas of the Outer Banks. The first night there we woke up at 1:30 AM in a room that was 80 degrees and getting warmer by the minute as the malfunctioning air-conditioning was putting out hot air. Lou, the night clerk on duty, was quick to find us another room that was dune view rather than ocean view, and we were compensated for the difference in price. The new room was on the 3rd rather than the 4th floor. Be advised that you can actually see the ocean on either of these floors, but you will need to stand up to do so. Sitting in the chairs on the balcony puts the railing directly in your line of vision. Breakfast was slightly above average imo, due to the fact that each day featured warm cinnamon rolls, biscuits, sausage and/or bacon. Over all, I would recommend the property. Thanks again to Lou the night clerk for saving our vacation!

- Christine (6/5): - Room was outdated and was not super clean, bathroom door would not close. Staff were good no issues, breakfast and the view were our only take away of being nice. Not worth the price. Parking was no issue, no where to walk for shopping.

- Matthew (10/5): - Really impressive for a seaside beach resort. Punches well above its weight. Clean, no moldy scents, renovated bathrooms, always available free parking right on site. And it’s like 15 second walk to the sandy beach!

- Van (9/5): Very pleasant and comfortable accommodation. - Rooms, bedding and facilities were excellent. The staff was extremely helpful and made sure we had what we needed. It is an oceanfront hotel, and we had a city view room. I assumed there would be a deck or place in the hotel property where we could see the ocean. They did however have a deck on the dune where you could go up steps or ramp and have a view. Overall it was still a great location.
