I am born and raised in San Clemente and I wanted to come back to visit. This was so beautiful. The shared balcony was a bit of a privacy issue, but it wasn’t something we couldn’t handle

We like the sitting area outside the room as well. Having the beach chairs, umbrella, and other things available for guests to use was a nice plus. The Jet tub in the bathroom didn’t work, which was disappointing. The lock on the front door would get stuck.

Cassandra (4/5): - The location and proximity to the beach is great. There is no sound proofing to rooms. We heard the train multiple times per night, people’s car alarms in the middle of the night, and could clearly hear every word of people talking in the rooms next door. The room was dated (which we expected) but the mattress was uncomfortable and overall the hotel felt rather unclean. We chose it specifically because they have parking, but when we checked in we’re told they didn’t have enough clickers for their garage. We were able to park in the garage the second night, but not a great experience overall unfortunately.
Alexander (10/5): Great stay! Would do it again. - Breakfast at the bistro was delicious; staff was friendly and helpful. The Fisherman's was also a fun place to have a drink or coffee and relax. In the room I reserved, the spa-tub was advertised on the web site, but a sign in the bathroom said it was out of order. I never called the front desk to ask about it, however.
Jill (8/5): Our favorite place!! - This hotel is not new, but it's charm and beachy oceanfront Vibe is all that matters. We absolutely LOVE this hotel. The area is amazing. Be prepared to sit back, relax and take in the view. Planning our next trip already. Honeymooned there 24 years ago and it's still fabulous!!! The only thing we are not fond of is the stairs. Thats it. The rest is awesome.

Although the sea view from the room itself was quite restricted, outside the room was a large sitting area overlooking the sea with really comfortable cushioned seating, shade, candles, incense sticks, and just sitting quietly here listening to the waves was amazing and really recharging. Room was lovely with lots of little touches - shells, ceramics, decor. Shower great. Overall this was a great experience and wish I could have stayed longer. Oh, and they have free availability of chairs, parasols and towels for the beach. Would def stay here again. Not much

Lafitte (1/5): Do not stay here. Take your money someplace else - Nothing. It was absolutely horrible. The room was moldy, insects everywhere. The door was a sliding glass door. The tub shower combo was ridiculous. The room smelled of mildew. No AC. It was not what was advertised. I ended up taking the financial loss and booking a better hotel because of how horrible this place was.
Lee (6/5): Beautiful location beautiful views great for beach and you can walk to shops and restaurants - Location Amazing Bathroom could use a new tub and new lighting and they ran out of hot water on the Sunday of our stay. I didn’t like light coming on outside our room and staying on all night it kept the room from being dark. I also did not like that security gate is not kept shut allowing non guest to come onto the patio outside of our room.

James (10/5): - I don't understand some of the reviews about the loud noise they hear from the bar until 3am. I barely heard anything. The train maybe a little but it never really bothered me. Staff was great, very helpful and knowledgeable. Stairs are safe, but a tad strenuous for some of us older folks. Thats why i recomend (and did myself) getting a room on the 2nd floor. View is stunning. Rooms are tad small but clean. No bugs. You are near everything plus a free trolley. Restaurant below were very nice. So much to do, or just chill all day. Waves can be strong. At times I was hit by waves from both the front and the back! Felt very safe, even at night. I recommend this place wholeheartedly.

So very disappointed very bad maintenance in this room

Linda (5/5): Not great. We won’t be going back. - The location. We could walk to the beach, restaurants and nearby pier. The view was tremendous. The staff was friendly. There were no windows. It was dark and dingy, hot and stuffy. The shower was not in the bathroom. It was open to the bedroom, creating a steamy atmosphere in the whole place. There was a loud motor/fan hum 24/7 in one of the bedrooms. One TV could not be turned up and was barely audible. The other TV was very hard to operate. There was a microwave, but no utensils or anything that would make the “kitchen” useable. There was a parking garage, but it wasn’t close. We came in the back way on the third floor and had to carry our luggage down a narrow staircase. We spent as much time out of the room as possible.

Wi-Fi was very weak in our room. TV is difficult to operate...no instructions provided. The towels are small and very thin but everything else is great. Microwave in the room would be nice.
GIOVANNI (8/5): - 5th floor one problem, roof people put the funny foam and water just stays everywhere. Easy, wear no shoes so your socks get saved, other than that EVERYTHING was awesome!!!
Peter (6/5): Meh - Location great Tv remote did not work, blinds on windows do not shut out the bright hallway lights at ALL!! Hard to sleep.
Susan (10/5): - The Casa Del Sol was very, very basic but nice. Cell phone service was not available in the room and the noise level was high and not soundproof. The addition of a microwave would've made my stay more convenient

Daniel (8/5): - This place is great for a simple room with a view! A little outdated but still super cute. Customer Service was fantastic! Its a really old building so drains smell a little funky every once in a while, but overall it is a nice place to stay for the price.
Brett (6/5): - Really nice view and overall room. Stairs situation is problematic and parking is an issue. Checking is messed up but once you get in your clean, nice room, it is great.

James (4/5): - They sold are Casa Tropicana room (even though we paid in advance) and put us on the ground floor of the Sea Horse Hotel in a room that opened onto the sidewalk and people would walk into because they thought it was a store. Keep your doors locked if this happens to you! Staff offered a discount but it was fake we learned five days later once they realized money had already been paid through Expedia. After 14 years of every year, never again. These new staff/owners are deceptive at best and we are now pursuing restitution for never receiving the suite we were charged for.

Sonia (10/5): - Being by the ocean with an ocean view of the San Clemente Pier cannot be beat... the rooms are cutely decorated and so clean...Rosy at the front desk made us feel so welcomed and was attentive to our needs... we received a free upgrade on our room and we could not be any happier...we will be back for sure... this property is amazing.
