Guest Reviews
- Gray (10/5): Really lovely calm atmosphere and lovely room. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was gorgeous - Really lovely calm atmosphere and lovely room. Staff were so friendly and helpful. Food was gorgeous
- martin (8/5): Overall good - Lovely setting, delicious food helpful staff No WiFi in room
- Annette (8/5): -
- Chris (9/5): Good location for various local attractions. - Great location, very friendly and helpful staff, very good quality food. Self contained accommodation good with very good shower. Found the bed too firm for my liking.
- Linda (7/5): Great place to stay in a lovely village - The lady at Reception Julie was very friendly and check in was very efficient. We had a room in the main building and it was spacious with a very comfortable large bed. It doesn't have much natural light as it is a loft room.
- Peter (7/5): We had 3 rooms together with direct access to car park which was convenient for our family - Food and dining room was GOOD staff polite and helpfull Room was described as superior
Firstly we did not expect a chalet type room but that would have been fine if larger with a decent size TV. The painted walls covered in touch-up patches made the room look tatty. Fine and adequate for a couple of nights but certainly not superior and we were dissapointed
- Margaret (8/5): -
- chloe (8/5): Lovley and friendly hotel, we didnt eat, but food looked good. - Julie on reception was friendly and helpful, so was the housekeeper. The property was well maintained. Towels and bedding cleaning and room clean..great location if you gave friend staying at the lodges near by. Well located for Rufford country park and sherwood forest.
Car parking was easy.
Overall a great stay. My son said his bed was very comfortable, and I agreed. The room could have been cooler, I image if it was a streak of warm days 20+ degrees it could be uncomfortable, as only 1 small window on motel style room..
A fan was provided though.
- Carrie (10/5): Will definitely be back - Location was great. Staff were helpful and friendly. Very good value for money. Food was fantastic
- Catherine (8/5): A comfortable stay and welcoming staff. - Quiet location, comfortable beds, good breakfast and friendly staff. Door lock was slightly tricky.
- Liz (8/5): Great check in experience - Comfy bed.. it was just a night after being at a wedding all day so didn’t get the full hotel experience, but the check in staff were amazing and friendly. The bathroom door does not close or lock in room 4. Wasn’t spotless, but wasn’t dirty either.
- Maria (9/5): Would definetly stay again great value too. - Lovely staff, very comfortable and stylish bedroom just perfect.
Nice little bar and outside area perfect with sun shining on it. The pillows in bedroom were very hard however lovely bedding on the super king size bed.
- Anthony (10/5): - Exceptional value, with a very comfortable room in a new annexe.. . . Staff were very courteous and helpful and we did enjoy a delicious dinner and generous breakfast for our one-night stay.in a very attractive little village with Maypole
- Karen (9/5): - All Staff are very welcoming and friendly.
Rooms are a nice size, clean and have everything you would need.
- Gill (10/5): - Staff were really friendly, was easy to find, great parking, was a great place to stay for a wedding at Hazel Gap Barn. The room we were in could have done with a bit of a deep clean, it is an old barn building so it is to be expected. Didn't fault my stay, I would absolutely recommend. But if the owners read this, please just tighten up on dusting lol!
The bed was on the harder side but again that's just personal preference.
- Mindaugas (9/5): - Helpful staff , lady who seems like to run it is spot on Wifi
- Robert (9/5): - Location, very clean and great helpful staff.
- Tim (10/5): -
- Megan (8/5): -
- Rebecca (7/5): - Location. Dog Friendly
- Markus Triebe (7/5): -
- Susan (9/5): Great all round. - I had asked for help with my luggage as I have recently had a major shoulder operation. The young ladies went beyond being helpful with a smile and were exceptional! Room like a motel but super clean and well equipped. I could even park my car in a disabled place no more that three steps from my room! Sad that more people were not in the bar where I had very good food and allowed to take my dog. Again cheerful and helpful staff. For me it was too much in the village for me to walk my dog - but that is a minor problem compared to all the very good points!
I will definitely stay again if a motel like room is available!
- Carolyn (8/5): Super location for Thoresby Park and a great night's sleep! - My room was very comfortable and I had 2 good nights' sleep. The entrance area to my room could do with some lighting.
- Barbara (10/5): Second visit to this hotel and would definitely stay there again. - Excellent value for money.
Breakfast good and staff very friendly. Nothing
- Tracy (9/5): - Breakfast could have done with beans or tomato on it but it was tasty We stayed in room 1 and lovely comfortable but at 6 in morning the road outside was noisy so kept us awake
- Sandy (5/5): Disappointed at poor standard in room & breakfast option - Convenient local, free parking Disappointed at poor standard in double deluxe room- ceiling over shower cubicle peeling away in need of urgent repair (was like this back in December- now March )
Radiator not working in bedroom - supplied with electric heater which worked adequately but not ideal for a deluxe room, again this was like this back in December.
Bedside table lampshade loose & ill fitting, spot light on ceiling flickering.
Supposed improvement in breakfast options ( at an extra cost per person) cooked breakfast option sold as freshly cooked, turned out to be self service in heated trays , lack of attention paid to detail e.g. serving tongues supplied to serve the baked beans and scrambled eggs! Surely it wouldn’t have taken much to provide serving spoons ?
- Laura (4/5): Would not go back - Good location, friendly staff, cute bar. Uncomfortable bed, plugs in bathroom sinks didn’t work - not fit for purpose. Dusty bedside tables. Awful buffet breakfast
- Luke (7/5): The stay was great - some tweaks would have made it perfect - Really easy access to the room and parking was brilliant. I stayed for a wedding and it was perfect for coming and going. It was clean Room was looking tired. Paint scuffs on door frame. Door sticks to floor in bathroom. I wasn’t a fan of two single duvets for one person staying, should be switched out to a double duvet for single occupant. The WiFi - brilliant when you are in the main building. Non-Existent when you go to your room along the outside (number 9 needs a booster box or something).
- Bell (7/5): Comfy bed great staff - Clean comfortable room Road noise while trying to sleep but I live in a quiet area not use to cars whizzing by
- Patrick (8/5): Very personable staff presiding over a good standard cleanliness coupled with good restaurant and bar facilities. - Cleanliness and value for money Nothing. It had everything I required.
- bradley (10/5): -
- Grant (1/5): -
- Robin (10/5): - Lovely hotel, rooms were exceptional.
Nice to chat with some friendly locals in the bar area Nothing
- Roger (8/5): - Good sized stylish room and great shower in en-suite. Helpful friendly staff and good evening meal (pie night) at a sensible price. Easy parking at rear. Room central heating only fair but with backup electric heater. Disappointing cooked breakfast buffet with no fried egg option
- Bertulis (9/5): - We complained regarding the room number 3 and were 5 which was very nice 👍 Apart from the room swap there was no problem.
- Fiona (8/5): -
- Brooke (8/5): -
- Lena (10/5): -
- simon (10/5): - Location and easy parking
- Doug (7/5): Good in most parts - friendly local pub / hotel - Friendly staff. Wifi in rooms was poor and impossible to connect - Room#9
- steve (8/5): A comfortable and clean room. - Very well organised hotel/pub with friendly staff Our room 2 didn’t have hot water at the sink for shaving. Faulty mixer tap it seems.
- Hat (7/5): -
- Darren (10/5): Nice experience. - Very comfy room. Very clean. Staff were pleasant. Small tv. Tinny sound.
- RITA (10/5): Second visit, because we knew it was a clean, warm, and the food was freshly prepared. Drinks great. - Room, food, evening and breakfast was top class, staff helpful too. Great place to stay or just a have a great meal. Nothing
- Pat (9/5): -
- Samuel (7/5): -
- Debbie (9/5): Great - Lovely room More variety of choices other than the Saturday Steak Night Menu
- Beverley (8/5): It was just a good functional stay to attend a friends 60th - It was perfect with our dog. It was just a good functional stay to attend a friends 60th. Staff were great Nothing not to like.
- stephen (9/5): Nice visit to sherwood Forest and Clumber park - superb evening meal
- Nareesa (9/5): I would stay again if I ever visited the area. - Was looking forward to trying the food from the main menu but unfortunately as we arrived on steak night our options were limited especially for our vegetarian friend. The manager was very helpful even while busy at the bar. Lovely room and comfortable bed. Breakfast options were also limited. Young waiting staff need training.
- Stacey (8/5): -
- Daniel (7/5): -
- Russell (5/5): The whole place needs refurbishment, the staff were helpful , Breakfast wasn’t the best - Location ,free parking Needs refurbing & a good clean
- linda (9/5): Lovely place to stay. Clean, quiet, comfy bed and good shower - A real suprise. Lovely staff, very clean, comfortable bed, good shower. Breakfast was included in price and plenty of choice. Location was quiet. Only thing to mention was the stairs to the second floor. We were ok with suitcases but could be difficult for some. Staff did assist with bags etc on request.
- Helen Nicola (10/5): Overnight stay for my niece's wedding. Great place for our requirements. - Overnight stay for nieces wedding, so we enjoyed the freedom of motel-style accommodation; privacy to come and go as please. Clean and comfortable ensuite rooms, with kettle, tea and coffee facilities. Last, but by no means least, the friendly, obliging staff. Nothing. Our stay was great and speaking to other wedding guest friends, we made a great choice. Thank you.
- Craig (10/5): -
- Chris (9/5): -
- Penny (9/5): Really helpful staff made this a really pleasant stay. - Location and helpful staff It was all good
- Gary (10/5): We would stay here again - Lovely room, which just needs a bit of tlc to the skirting and walls. Staff were lovely, breakfast nice and a lovely location
- Sharna (7/5): Pleasant stay, thank you. - Friendly, welcoming, clean room, nice little touches. Rooms are lovely and quiet considering there is a bar area downstairs below. The restaurant area wasn’t the cleanest, e.g. our son spilled pepper on and under one of the tables in the evening, which we did our best to clean up & notified the staff on duty - it was still there the next morning at breakfast. Also we waited more than half an hour in the empty restaurant for someone to come and take our order but nobody came so we went to eat dinner elsewhere (not that we particularly minded, we weren’t there for the food, it would’ve just been convenient and we’d heard good reviews about the food) the room was the main purpose of the visit and it was lovely.

- Diane (8/5): Great staff & good value for money. - Nice location, good restaurant. Lovely staff. Big car park. Dog friendly. Considering how costly it is to run a business these days it’s understandable that some areas look just slightly ‘tired’.
The car park lights are on all night & very bright. Great for security but the blackout blinds on the room doors could be improved (just our personal preference to have a dark room for sleeping).
- Antony (6/5): - Friendly staff Cold bathroom
- Philip (10/5): Excellent accomadation and value for money. - Very pleased with the room which was nice and clean and I was able to park my car outside our room. All the staff were very friendly and polite. Although it was only meant to be a continental breakfast there was a great selection including beans and sausage on toast. There was nothing that I can complain about and it was value for money and close to my daughters home who we were visiting.
- VARVARA (9/5): -
- Ian (8/5): - Great service easy parking.
- Kevin (10/5): Excellent - It could hold 18 people what we needed in the area Pillows to soft
- Dee (10/5): - Lovely lady on reception who was also on the bar in the evening and breakfast duty. Good value continental spread for breakfast, probably one of the best I have had
- Kym (10/5): -
- Andrew (10/5): Lovely - Was exactly what we wanted lovely room clean comfortable and lovely
- Carolyn (9/5): -
- Eric (10/5): Nice, clean room and helpful staff. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Plenty of choice on the continental breakfast. All good
- Mary (9/5): Would book again. - Excellent staff very welcoming. Very comfortable accommodation. Good parking onsite. Nothing
- Miriam Moore (8/5): - Great location, staff very welcoming, breakfast was well thought out. Room lacked a little attention to detail with cleaning, quite a few cobwebs and dust.
Bed a little hard but that's down to personal taste.
Not the fault of the venue, some noise from the room next door when we had not long gone to sleep
- Bauckham (6/5): - Room was comfortable and well furnished.
The evening meal was good and staff were very helpful. The breakfast was adequate but not great. The fruit was not very fresh and a poor selection.
The shower door did not fit properly and paint was pealing on the ceiling with signs of mould on the tile grouting.

- stewart (10/5): -
- Boden (8/5): - Comfortable bed, good sized room and bathroom No direct lighting or mirror over wash basins so poor for shaving or applying make up. TV could not get channels 1 - 5. Pillows were too soft
- Denise (8/5): Good but could have been better - Room lovely, pub great Breakfast poor, only continental offered. Wouldn't have stayed if we had known
- Stephen (9/5): We’ll be back - Free EV charging Nothing
- Louise (7/5): Cheap and cheerful. - Room was very clean and comfortable. Limited food options for those with dietary requirements.

- Chris (7/5): Good - Good Good

- Chelsea (8/5): Lovely quiet weekend in a beautiful small village - We have been a few times, it was just how we remembered from our last visit Bed wasn’t comfortable, not enough pillows and mattress was hard
- Stephen (7/5): Stay was fine but dont know if ide stay again. Like to have a drink when stopping at a hotel - Ok Bar shut too early between 9.00pm and 10.00pm .Should have last orders at earlist 11.00pm especially on a weekend.
- Philip (9/5): Very good indeed, though some maintenance needed - Good location.
Exceptionally friendly, personable, efficient staff.
The dinner was excellent. Our compliments to the chef. The food was excellently prepared, presented and served. The electronic door locks to the rooms didn’t work.
The bathroom door in Room 9 dragged on the floor, making a scraping noise as it moved.
The wash basin drain was sluggish and slow. The u-bend probably needed to be cleaned out.
The shower leaked water on to the bathroom floor.
The water pressure was fine on Saturday morning, but very poor on Sunday morning.
- Hat (10/5): -
- Ruth (4/5): - It was near our daytime destination. The shower hose was broken on arrival. The radiator was not working. The sink in the bathroom was cracked and there was no handle on the outside of the bathroom door. The bedroom would benefit from a mirror & a chair instead of a stool.
We were offered a discount as we were without a shower facility for 2 days, but on check out no discount had been applied to our account?
- Elise (10/5): -
- Bridgette (10/5): -
- Sharon (4/5): Quality of stay diminishing - Comfortable bed. The room was really cold, no heating on when I arrived. The shower didn’t get hot, only lukewarm. Breakfast was disappointing.
