Guest Reviews
- Sanya (10/5): Amazing stay! I highly recommend this hostel - I had an absolutely amazing time at Nasubi.
The hostel is about a 12 min walk from Fuji station and quite easy to get to. I stayed in a mixed dorm for 3 nights. The beds was SUPER comfortable and cozy, had plenty of privacy, and were very clean. There was also sufficient space for everyone's bags in one corner. The rest of the common areas (fully usable kitchen, bathrooms, toilets, lounging area) were very clean and cozy but spacious. There are a lot of card games, books, drawing pads, video games in the common spaces. Also the atmosphere in the hostel was so peaceful and quiet but everyone was also very friendly. There are convenience stores and supermarkets. Also museums, gardens, Mt. Fuji viewing points around (I walked but you can borrow the bikes they have).
Finally, the owner, Kazu and the rest of the staff (I only got Mako's name, who checked me in, but there was another sweet staff member whose name I forgot to ask) are warm, welcoming, helpful, and so kind.
I would 100% recommend this to anybody!
- Holly (10/5): - The people that own it are careing, helpful and friendly
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location with view of Mt. Fuji. Easy access to the train station. Very comfortable with relaxing common area with kitchen and laundry. Just like home while in Japan.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This hostel is great with comfortable beds and in a convenient area. The best part of this hostel, though, is the host who is lovely and goes out of his way to be as helpful as possible. Enjoyed my stay completely, and will be back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
- Verified traveler (10/5): - 2
- Verified traveler (10/5): -
Mr. Kazu!!
- CHANG WOO (10/5): -
- Bethany (10/5): Warm and nice guesthouse - Amazing host and guesthouse, enjoy great time there. Very warm and welcoming. You can definitely meet many new friends there. Host is very kind to drive us to fuji station and lend us bikes for riverside cycling. Amazing journey and stay. Room is nice and comfortable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Traditional Japanese style with familiar atmospher - This hostel is amazing. The stuff is super friendly and kind and helps you whenever you need them. The hostel isn’t anyonym, ihn felt more like staying with family while also having much privacy. The owners were thinking about every little detail a backpacker needs. From washing machine to fully equipped kitchen.
I would love to come back!
- Jinkang (10/5): 1 day stay - It was on a clear day and i woke up to the view of Mt fuji. The host is extremely nice and welcoming. They provide free bike rental which i cycled around to see Mt fuji.
- wararat (10/5): Very nice owner and comfortable bed - Owner is very kindly!!!!!!!
Only him looking after the guesthouse but everything is still nice and clean.
The beds are big and very comfy.
My friend and I said this guesthouse is the best one after we went to 3 guesthouses.
- Laura (10/5): Rejuvenating time at a very welcoming hostel-house - Very cozy and peaceful place somewhere between a relative’s home and a hostel. We didn’t hike Fuji as we’ve been in Japan for a month now and have done plenty of (far less touristy) hiking, but rather wanted a quiet place with a beautiful view to rejuvenate. Kazu is the proprietor and super friendly. He even gave us a ride to the train station at the end of our stay. We greatly enjoyed the Japanese-style room, back porch, and kitchen (was SO nice to cook in a comfortable and well-stocked space). You can [and should] walk 45 min or bike 15 to the seaside for one of the most breathtaking sunsets of your journey! The hostel was a great place to be social or private. Nothing fancy but a very welcoming environment/special retreat. N64 is an awesome touch, too!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Exceptional Hostel in the Mount Fuji Area - This was an amazing place to stay. It was clean, affordable, and the owner (Kazu) was incredibly accessible, friendly and helpful.
We had initially only planned to stay here for two nights, but we extended our time to four nights because we were enjoying ourselves so much.
Kazu has bikes which you can borrow at no cost, and he has a wealth of knowledge about things going on in the area. We were able to attend a traditional Japanese Tea ceremony, get a tour of a nearby temple, and have a meal with some incredibly friendly locals because of some introductions which Kazu made.
All of this is to say that Kazu seems to work hard to connect guests with things going on nearby, and that worked out very nicely for us.
Other things of note are that the back porch and living room are super comfy, and that the kitchen is clean, large, and well-appointed. Fuji station is a 10 minute walk away, and Shin-Fuji station is perhaps 15-25 minute walk away. Also, Kazu seems to be happy to pick up/drop off guests from the train station, although the walk was pretty pleasant so we did not take advantage of this.
In sum, the place was great, and I would highly recommend it.
- Fuyuki (10/5): Good as place - we can go to shopping or to have a feed anywhere cos this accommodation has several bikes. Furthermore! you can ask for a ride from/to the Fuji station Free!!! That is really helpful :D
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice Accommodation and Host - This hostel is a more traditional Japanese style building which was cool to see. The bunk bed mattress is extremely firm. The kitchen facility is well supplied and the host has great recommendations for the area.
The local area has less activities and sights, good for a night or two when passing between Tokyo and Kyoto.
- Veronica (10/5): Great value, very clean. Definitely recommend it. - The staff were super sweet and helpful! The man at the desk even recommended a lot of cool places around Fuji to check out including a pretty great yakisoba place. The place was very clean, really convenient and one of the best hostels I've been in. Most definitely coming back when I'm in the Fuji area!
- N (10/5): Amazing view of mt Fuji - Nice Japanese house with a great view of the mountain. I stayed in the 6 dorm room everyone was friendly using the living room area. The owner speaks good English and is a great person. Thank you so much for my stay!
- Kate (10/5): Best city escape! - We had an awesome stay here! Weather was average, but when the clouds finally rose, the view was amazing! Hostel recommended visiting some waterfalls that were great and a sake tasting place. The hostel was in great condition and had a working Nintendo 64 which ended up with us making some friends whilst drinking sake and playing Mario kart and Mario Party. All up a great time was had!!
- shane (10/5): great owner - i got to the hotel late the owner was very friendly and had great suggestions on where to go sightseeing and gave me a ride to the station when i left super guy the bed was comfortable it was a very friendly environment loved the Nintendo 64 great line up of games for one person or multiple people very close to the market i would stay at the location again
- Ka Ching (10/5): Excellent expwrience - this is the best hostel I have been to, The host is very nice and speaks fluent English, the place is really clean.
Since I don't understand some Japanese words on the warpping of the goods, he translated them to me.
- ian (10/5): Excellent hostel - Extremely nice owner that gave us a warm welcome with stuff to see in the region. The hostel is very clean with a nice kitchen and backyard. Would totally recommend this place.
- Erving (10/5): - Personal super atento y amable, con habitaciones super limpias, con ambiente amigable
- Wei Fan (10/5): Very nice and friendly hotel! - This is a backpacker hotel; it is near the railway station and very convenient;
There are living room and kitchen inside the hotel, and the owners are very friendly, who can provide much useful information. I am sure most people will feel very comfortable staying here.
- Midori (10/5): Warm experience - As the other guests had mentioned, the owner was very kind and helpful. We stayed at Japanese style room, which had some Japanese traditional staffs such as tatami floor and so on. So, it reminded us of childhood and made us feel relaxed. And next morning, we found Mt. Fuji from the window! If you are looking for an accommodation around Mt. Fuji area, I highly recommend to stay at this hostel.
- Marcel (10/5): First time like home again! - I'm traveling now for over 1 and 1/2 year and this was the first time that i checkt somewhere in and it was like I'm home again. Kazu and this Hostel are beautiful. You stay in an old Japanese house with modern room s and facilities. The Rooms are very clean and the beds are perfect for a long sleep. Kazu tries everything to make your stay perfect. We arrived 3 hours before the check inn time and he cleaned staight away our Room first so that we can check inn and go to explore the area. Moreover I find you have any questions about this region he has an answer and if not he will search so long till he can give you one. He gave us bustimetables, talked with us about thinks we have to see around Fuji and how we get there. The hostel is very lovely in the evening we were sitting all together in the living room and played card games or with the N64 whichKazu provide for his guest. We had an amazing time. I'm at the moment in Osaka on my way back to Tokyo I will make an extra stop at this place to the Kazu again the best Host you can have. Thank you very much for these memories.
- Taehwan (10/5): clean and cosy. super kind - clean and cosy. super kind manager. but 8min walk from station
Thx very much Mr. Kazu!!
- Thomas (10/5): Best place to stay. - NASUBI provide far more than i expect, excellent experience. The host also helpful on places / locations i'm interested.
- Desapro (10/5): - The owner is friendly and provide transport to and from train stations.
- Jay (10/5): - It is a really house-like hotel with good facilities, where you have big living room & kitchen & garden to socialize. The owner is very nice, you will get thoughtful services. Mt. Fuji is not far and public transport is convenient to take u to anyplace across Japan. Enjoy your vocation.
- jlwier (10/5): Kazu is the best. - Although the hostel is further away from Mount Fuji, it's closer to the train stations that take you in and out of the area. The biggest bonus is Kazu, the super chill guy that runs the hostel, will bus you to and from the stations. The whole area is quiet and relaxing. The Japanese style room was very comfortable. There wasn't a lot of social atmosphere, but that may be that the people staying were not very social. Also, we woke up at 5 in the morning because you could see Mount Fuji peaking out through our window. Very cool. Thanks Kazu!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - a very nice backpacker hostel! the owner is very kind and friendly, he provide us a lot of information of travelling! just feeling like home! thank you so much!
- xinrui (10/5): - Kazu is such a responsible young guy and will provide everything you need and information you want to know. Great experience of staying there .
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Only stayed for a few hours overnight, but the manager was very hospitable and the place was clean.
- Erin (10/5): Would recommend, nice for a few nights. - Even though its a bit of a walk from the station, this place was worth it. It doesnt have any of the faciness of the other hostels we stayed ag, but it makes up for it in happiness and warmth. The owner/manager was extremely friendly, as well as speaking english very well. The bunks were really comfy, rooms neat and air con was nice. Wifi was fast as well. Would definitely recommend.
- jon (10/5): Stay here! Easy home base for Mt. Fujii area and - Super friendly owner, very helpful. Speaks English and will make sure you can get around to see cool sights. Writes out directions in English and Japanese to make sure you get where you want. And very knowledgeable about what to do in the area.
The place is comfy and welcoming. Nothing like a traditional japanese house to make you enjoy the real Japan.
Plus the view from the front Japanese style room (mt fuji peaking over town) isn't bad.
- brian (10/5): Best host!! - Although Fuji was not the biggest town the host was definitely the best part of this stay. He helped out with custom maps and recommendations of things to do see and eat while in Fuji. The hotel looked just like pictures and all amenities were listed appropriately.
- wit (10/5): Brand new, clean, great host! - Small hotel, walking distance from rail station and convince store. Bus ride to Mt. Fugi trails. Real Japanese charm and convince. Strongly recommend.
- Ari (10/5): Personal touches and pleasant atmosphere! - You will not find more kind, helpful and knowledgeable hostel owners in Japan. The beautiful accommodations, clean rooms, immaculate bathrooms, and fully stocked common area make this the best place to unwind after a day of touring. Highly recommend this hostel!
