Guest Reviews
- Halee (10/5): - Absolutely stunning views in such a unique, charming property. I didn’t want to check out.
- Gillian (8/5): - Beautiful location and fab food
- Beth (10/5): - Beautiful view of the harbour and wonderful restaurant for dinner
- Suzy (10/5): - This property is excellent, beautiful, 5 star hotel in the middle of a tiny town, disguised as a quaint little hotel.
Everything is excellent, room, service, staff all beyond expectations. Loved it!!!
- Steve (8/5): - Cozy and welcoming coastal Inn.
- Louise (10/5): - This was our first visit to the Ship Inn, what a find this is a thriving business set in an amazing location. The staff all ages are attentive, polite & on their game. The highlight is the food- whoever they have working in the kitchens are a talented bunch.
- John (10/5): - The food was fantastic but the staff made our stay special
- Kathrin (8/5): - Great location. Lovely staff and delicious food. We were a little disappointed with the location of the room (avoid the downstairs room if you can) which was right next to the road downstairs where we almost brushed shoulders with passer-by’s - it was not possible to leave the window open at night to get some fresh air.
- Fiona (10/5): - Fabulous little hotel in spectacular location. Staff lovely and couldn’t be more helpful. Food great also! Highly recommend.
- Craig (8/5): Amazing location and restaurant! Room not as good. - The location is amazing. Absolutely beautiful. The bar, restaurant, and outside bar are all awesome! Great service, great food, real effort put into being Gluten Free, and ridiculously good breakfast. The staff are wonderful! The room needed improvement. The bathroom fan didn't work, so any time you shower, the entire bathroom had a ton of moisture everywhere. The rainfall shower head is weak and the separate hand held head isn't tied to the same lines, so was really hard to control, and not super useful. The tub had black stuff (guessing black mold) coming out of the stopper when my wife took a shower, and the stopper didn't work well, so she had to run the water the entire bath to maintain a 1/3 water level at best. Bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, and the blinds didn't work, and opening the windows was a struggle and painful. Would love to come back here but not to this room. Dog friendly, though, which is GREAT. Hope they correct these issues, as would really like to return because of the location, food, and service.
- alison (10/5): - What a great visit we had. First time there but we will be back. The staff were so friendly and helpful. Food great too. Lovely roaring fire on the Sunday am.
- David (10/5): - Full of character in a charming town
- Galina (10/5): - Thank you, Ship Inn, we had an amazing stay. Food was great, staff most friendly and helpful, location and views - wow!
Comfortable room, good shower, yummy breakfast. We will definitely be back soon. Thank you for you amazing hospitality once again
- Lambownumber5 (10/5): - Great rooms, hospitality and food. The breakfast was very well presented!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The weather was wild but the comfort and feeling of well being engendered by the Ship's environment and the staff meant our stay there was just wonderful. We will be back.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Brilliant food in the pub, great views and lovely staff
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Brilliant room right on the seafront. Small personal inn with friendly staff. Modern clean and up to date facilities. Delicious food in the bar and small restaurant! Shame it was only a one night stop!
- Steven (10/5): Seaside gem - Visited the restaurant many times but the stay was well worth it. Great room , clean , fresh and everything you need. All finished to a high end. Lovely breakfast watching the waves roll in. Cosy bar down stairs with roaring fire .
- Verified traveler (10/5): Autumnal joy - Lovely setting
Clean warm and welcoming
Fabulous food
- Verified traveler (10/5): - excellent in nearly every way. spotless...great service....quirky touches. ONLY downside is poor sound insulation and no AC in rooms. It was way hot in the rooms but it was a super hot weekend. Would not put me off going back. Defo one to check out
- Susan (10/5): - Absolutely lovely.
- Graeme (10/5): - The property location is stunning right on the Elie Beach. Staff were excellent and friendly and the food was fabulous. Will definitely return.

- David (10/5): - First time visitor to Scotland and couldn’t have picked a better place to stay - by the sea and in the charging village of Elie. The inn was so cozy and charming. The owners and staff so very gracious. Loved the room. The bar/ pub was perfect. And special shout-out to Glenn ( manager) for going out of his way to make our stay great. Would definitely stay here again. Tip: do not leave until you try the crabcakes.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dont bother 😞😞😞 - Hotel had a wedding party from overseas staying, which meant normal quests came 2nd, room an hour late, kitchen closed early as a result, clearly made it now, and only interested in those and such as those which is a shame
- Patricia (10/5): Lovely old pub/ hotel with 4 star facilities - Lovely situated small hotel with restaurant - the food was very good. The staff were very friendly and working hard. Food was very good, we had paella.
Would suggest you try for a room with a sea view as the location is beautiful.
- Scanuck (8/5): - Interesting old pub/hotel with modern bedrooms. Pleasant staff and good food.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Super location by beach - Really enjoyed our stay, we had a lovely room at the back.
Lovely breakfast with nice views over the beach.
- Dave (10/5): A Must stay if you are in this location - Absolutely brilliant , food stunning landlord took time to meet and greet staff were all fantastic , had my Boss over from the Netherlands he could not believe the high standard achieved.
Am now planning to take some colleagues back for a weekend next year for a golf break in the area
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the room and it's view across the beach. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. A really pleasant stay.
- Monique (10/5): Tranquil with fantastic views - Upon arriving I was unsure as to whether or not to stay as it seemed remote and in a deserted area. Once inside, I found it to be perfectly charming. The staff was gracious and welcoming and the room was thoughtfully decorated and clean. We ate dinner in the restaurant watching the sun set and felt like we were ship board. The total experience at The Ship Inn was perfect.
- rayboy (10/5): Lovely small hotel/pub - Lovely small hotel/pub. Helpful staff. Excellent food. Would stay again.
Je recommande +++
- David (10/5): Excellent - Excellent stay highly recommend. Rooms cleaned to a high standard friendly staff. Location of hotel was good food in hotel was prepared to a high standard.
- Radley (10/5): Tucked away by the harbour - Great little place well tucked away. Lovely room, lovely food, good real ale and great views
Tutto è nuovo, curato dettagliatamente e pulito.
- MALCOLM (10/5): Very good hotel, pub and restaurant - Great all round stay. Relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Good rehang of beers and very good food. Would highly recommend.
- Pat (10/5): - A great little pub Hotel with excellent facilities in the rooms. I liked the Bose sound dock so much, I have just upgraded my old one to one the same. I can also highly recommend the food too. Both Dinner and Breakfast were top drawer. As Arnie says: "I'll be back!"
- Stuart (10/5): Charming sea front boutique hotel - Ate in the restaurant. Beautiful
Fresh tasty food at a good price for the quality.
- Elizabeth (10/5): Had an amazingly stay - Stayed here on business last week and I have to say everything was perfect!
Room decor lovely and spotless. Modern coffee machine which is a nice touch. Rainfall shower was just luxury. I had a room overlooking the beach and it was lovely listening to the waves at night.
Didn't eat dinner in the restaurant but did have breakfast. Great selection and a lovely breakfast attendant to chat with in the morning. Will be back soon!
Thank you for a wonderful stay!
- Jane (10/5): Perfect stay. - Had a fab stay! Cosy pub with great views and friendly staff. Good food. The room was spotless and beautifully decorated. Can't wait to return.
- alison (10/5): Great Location - Amazing stay, me and my boyfriend will definitely be going back, food was tremendous and the hotel was first class with amazing b a great views
- Verified traveler (10/5):
- Carleigh (10/5): Comfy, clean, great staff - A friend and I stayed here for two nights and we wish it could have been longer. The staff (especially Chloe!) were fabulous, even walked out to our car to help bring in our luggage and up the flight of stairs. The room was beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable, the bathroom was all new and clean and best of all, the view was AMAZING!
The only downfall is the parking - there is no designated parking, just on the street. We never had to park more than a minute or two's walk away though, so it wasn't bad. Just with a rental car we were a bit nervous.
I would definitely stay here again if I'm ever in Elie - I might even go back to Elie just to stay here!
- Heather (10/5): Lovely inn! - Having visited Elie and the Ship Inn before and knowing that I wanted to go back I was more than excited to see that they had added rooms! The stay was everything that I had hoped for and more! Beautiful and comfortable beyond my expectations. Rooms and views are perfect and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome! Having a delicious restaurant attached made the stay even better as we never had to leave to find good food/drinks! Hated to leave and will definitely return next time we are in Scotland!
- Mr T G (8/5): East Neuk Gem - Short break - perfect location, clean & comfortable room, great views over the bay from middle tables in the upstairs restaurant. Food and wine was good simple reasonably priced.
- Andy (10/5): Great hotel overlooking the bay. - The hotel was easy to find using the sat nav. Parking is on street which seems fine as there was plenty of free space. The room was great, spacious and clean with a great view of the bay. Dinner in the upstairs restaurant was excellent and the bar is cosy and dog friendly. All in all thoroughly recommended
