Guest Reviews
- kristinaeS2586CS (10/5): Charming and homey - This is charming and out of the way. A great budget pick. The manager gave us excellent advice; and we found a fabulous dinner restaurant and great breakfast spot frequented by locals. great coffee too! Be aware- stairway climbs needed to access rooms.
- DBdbarker2 (10/5): Great stay in Frenchtown, Saint Thomas - After a long day of air travel, we stayed at Olga' Fancy for one night in Frenchtown, St. Thomas before heading to Saint John for the week, and it was the perfect start to our trip.
The host, Candy and house cat Buddy were incredibly informative and communicative, providing clear directions, helpful local tips, and everything we needed to know for a smooth stay. The property itself was beautiful, with a stunning pool and an amazing view that made us wish we were staying longer.
The location was ideal for an easy transition between islands, and the peaceful setting helped us relax right away after travel. We would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone looking for a comfortable, scenic, and well-run place to spend a night (or more!) in St. Thomas.
10/10 would recommend.
- 441quiets (6/5): Not bad but wouldnt rebook - Clean place however more like a motel. If you have mobility issues proceed with caution. There are a lot of steps, but the scenery is unbelievable. Do not come to this site unless you have a vehicle. Taxis are expensive. Roosters and cats are around. Actually enjoyed the animals. Friendly upon arrival but if your used to a actual hotel- look elsewhere.
- LaureenF109 (10/5): Peaceful hideaway - Eddie and Candy were the best! Very responsive and helpful. Room was clean and king bed was comfortable. Amazing view (room 4)! Plenty of food and beverages well within walking distance. Loved the Twisted Cork, Pie Whole, and Frenchtown Deli (deli had bevs and snacks you could take back with you - sandwiches were big enough to split and very reasonably priced). Enjoyed pool days, island tour with Ricky, and complimentary coffee. The creamer was delicious! ;) This trip was exactly what we were looking for.
- Danika (8/5): - The drive up to the property was very bumpy and rocky. The alley’s getting to the property are very tight. When coming back to the property after hours, there’s a man who closes the gates so that you’re unable to get to the property and you have to get out of your vehicle to move the gates just to get past. Although we understand that the property is right on the ocean we had a huge water bug (roach) in our room. I wish we would’ve been told beforehand that the property/island does not have drinking water and it was very nice of the property owners to give us one bottle of water for our three night stay. I would say that the property is absolutely beautiful, but the walls of the rooms are paper thin. My Husband and I for sure overheard the couples next to us enjoying their adult time alone and let’s just say they were not shy about it at all. Overall, it was an okay stay but we wouldn’t stay here again.
- Christy (10/5): - Very cute and private retreat. The owners/managers were very accomodating! Ocean view room was stunning!
- 33388Mary (10/5): Rejuvenating experience at Olga's Fancy - My water's edge room #17 offered spectacular views. The enduring sound of Caribbean waves provided a lovely backdrop during my 4 night stay. I started my day with morning coffee in the Olga's Fancy reception. Midmorning I moved to the pool, which offers panoramic views and cooling water, to sunbath. In early afternoon, I explored nearby cafes. My favorite was French Quarter Bistro. And I concluded my evenings at Oceana, a fine dining restaurant adjoining the inn. Throughout, a very relaxing and comfortable experience.
- Allisha Jean (10/5): - We had the most absolute wonderful time at Olgas. The owners were very pleasant and helpful with reccomendations. My only suggestion is adding a microwave to rooms or even to coffee and dining room. We could never finish our food and had to throw it out. Other than that the VIEWS 😲 the staff... superb. Oceana was a wonderful place to dine next door and both places forever in our fondest memories bc the trip of a lifetime resulted in our engagement as well! Thanks again from two boring Kansans. John and Allisha 😉
- Maleisa (10/5): - My husband and I enjoyed our stay! Great historic location, and within walking distance to many attractions. Eddie made the check-in process easy and offered to call taxi services. Clean rooms with wonderful artwork! Would stay again!
- Mary (10/5): - Room #17 offers panoramic St. Thomas views. In the dark of night, town lights transform the view to the left. During the day, boats animate the energetic waters. The cottage is built at water's edge, which ensures a constant, calming sound of waves. Nearby restaurants Oceana and French Quarter Bistro have excellent menus. And Eddie provides excellent coffee each morning, a wonderful tradition that brings together inn guests.
- Justin (10/5): - This place is so beautiful and secluded. It’s like having your own tranquil slice of St Thomas all to yourself. The staff is so friendly and are always providing great recommendations as to where to go and what to see
- Frank (10/5): - I had a pleasent stay ,wonderful staff,i had to extend my stay do to flight concellations and they were so helpful and accommodating. I will go back for sure !
- Mike (10/5): Love this place! - I really liked this place and I am pretty picky. The island has lots of elevation differences. So as usual, you will climb some steps to get to rooms. Nothing unusual but if it is a problem then this place (and most others) could be a challenge. To me it’s worth it. Cool island vibe and eco conscious. Proprietor is a fountain of knowledge and advice. Treats you fairly. Definitely will stay again!!!
- Thomas (10/5): - Bed was very comfortable. The balcony had a nice sitting area with the pool was clean and refreshing. It was a short walk from the ferry and to the seaplane base. Loved all the kitties around.
- Daniel (10/5): - Thanks Eddie. Everything was perfect, the room was clean with a great view. Definitely we will stay again.
- Robo18 (8/5): Lovely gem of a hotel - We actually stayed at the hotel in the summer of 2024. We got a beautiful little cottage that was not attached to the actual hotel but it suited us perfectly. It was extremely clean and bright and so cosy right on the water. Eddie was wonderful. He was so nice and told us about an amazing beach where we could swim with the turtles. We took a local bus there and swam with the turtles all day. We had a wonderful coffee and tea in the mornings where we sat on the veranda with their cute little cats. This is off the beaten path, but it was really cute and quaint and had a lovely restaurant right next-door. It’s right near the marina where we came in from the BVI’s. A lovely little hotel that I would definitely recommend. They also have a fabulous swimming pool which we used in the evenings. We stayed for two nights. The beds were very comfortable. We also loved that they had a fridge so we went to the local grocery store and bought some food and made sandwiches for our day trips. Eddie also told us that they changed the sheets every five days, even if no one has stayed in the room. For breakfast, we also bought oatmeal and yoghurt which we ate on the veranda. Lovely little hotel.
- brian (8/5): - Beautiful property off the beaten track overlooking the Bay or ocean. Staff was VERY nice and accommodating. Saw a few bugs, no big deal, we're in the Caribbean.
- Stacie (10/5): - Not far from the airport. Clean room with good air conditioning and comfortable bed. Also very nice views.
- Raymond (8/5): - Our room was clean and nicely furnished, comfortable but not luxurious but in line, with the price. The owners are friendly and helpful. The pool provided a refreshing oasis from the heat. We particularly liked that there were several restaurants of various price ranges within easy walking distance from the hotel.
- Gregory (10/5): - If you are hoping to experience St Thomas like a local, Olga's Fancy should be high on your list. Tucked away at the end of a peninsula in Frenchtown, it is easy to see why past Governors and the Russian Consulate chose this hillside estate overlooking both Charlotte Amalie and the ocean. You'll be footsteps (and a few staircases) away from several quality restaurants, as well as the jitney bus system that can take you to Brewers Beach, Charlotte Amalie, Sapphire Beach, and Red Hook (where you can catch the passenger ferry to St. John).
We chose a seaside room and loved our private balcony. We also enjoyed coffee on the lanai each morning and the pool to ourselves nearly every night. We like walking and exploring more than sunbathing on the beach, so it was not a concern that Olga's Fancy is more on views and city access focused than being a beachfront resort.
All in all, a great five-night stay in July. See my review(s) on Yelp for more specific details on this property and other establishments we visited on our trip.
- S1826LHlynnc (10/5): - Great place to stay for a couple. Good restaurants are close. The room was very clean. Would stay here again. Beautiful views of water and boats.
- Jennifer (10/5): - We enjoyed our stay! Good restaurants nearby. Coffee every morning. The room was very clean and had pretty view of the water and boats. Owner gave us snorkeling equipment and cooler to use for beach. Great trip!!
- Tobias (8/5): - Nice place and nice staff. However, not sure why they insisted on us arriving at the airport three hours ahead of departure.
- Daniel (10/5): - When choosing a small, family run hotel vs the big box resorts, you need a few things which Olga’s covered. The rooms were clean with excellent views, the air conditioning works great, and the pool was very nice. Add a rich history and coffee with the owners, Candy and Eddie, it makes for a special stay.
- Bruce (10/5): - The place is amazing and the owners are super. Great views and what a chill place.
- Fidel (10/5): - Great place to stay while in Frenchtown.
- MCWC (10/5): Great boutique hotel - What a great place. Lovely rooms, friendly staff, great pool. Coffee in the morning and a friendly cat. Walking distance to several good restaurants frequented by locals. A wonderful experience. Get a room with a balcony and eat in the neighborhood!
- Theodore (10/5): - Graet place to start a trip to the islands!
- Joseph (10/5): - We stayed on the water and it was beautiful! The staff reached out to me to make sure everything was amazing
- Deepa (10/5): - Beautiful beachfront view. The room had a lovely view and we were able to check in early which was very helpful. Communication from Eddie was also excellent
- Brian (2/5): - Just pay a little extra and stay at a major chain. Thank me later.
- Anthony (10/5): - Great location with easy access to the town. The owner was friendly and very hospitable. Rooms are clean, AC was quite. Pool area so nice to chill with very clean property. We highly recommend this place.
- Joy (8/5): - Great stay. The owner of the hotel was very informative. The room was clean, the pool is clean, shower, water warm with good water pressure. We would definitely stay again!
- willdaddy (10/5): Beautiful, homey boutique hotel - recommended! - Wonderful little boutique hotel in the Frenchtown neighborhood, overlooks both the sea and the bay. Owned by a couple, we got to know Eddie on our two one day visits on either side of a boating trip.
The rooms were nice and clean, the facilities, beautiful, fanciful, just really nice and homey.
This isn’t a major chain, there’s not someone at the desk 24x7, you can’t book on points. But you don’t get the Olga’s experience at a chain.
Very close to the airport, about a 10 minute taxi ride, easy walking distance to the ferry terminal and lots of restaurants (from McDonalds to one of the nicest restaurants in town)
Highly recommend!
- Lois (10/5): - My third stay every time we come we stay here. Stairs are rough but location and service are worth it and I keep learning to pack lighter n lighter
- Jacqueline (8/5): - The owner was very accommodating, my flight arrived early, and they made check-in seamless. The place had a lovely water view, and there were plenty restaurants just a short walk away. The location was perfect, with the town center easily accessible on foot.
- Kelly (10/5): - The owners made our stay incredible with great suggestions, help with taxis, & great accommodations.
- Rebecca Lynn (10/5): - Eddie was a wonderful host for this property!! We had a wonderful time and stay here! Highly recommend.
- Lois (10/5): - Stay here every time we sail in the islands
- David (10/5): - Away from the noise of Downtown!
- Tracy (10/5): - Candy and Eddie take hospitality to a new level! Wonderful people with a generosity of spirit, helpful in all ways, great advice on where to grab a bite and how to navigate the transportation options in St. Thomas. Loved the morning coffee and accoutrements! Our room's view made the location! Lovely in every way! Our only suggestion may be to leave more shampoo and conditioner. There was barely enough for one person! Thank you for the loan of beach towels and appreciated the sunscreen as well! Will definitely recommend to others!
- Brian (10/5): - Fair value and great view of harbor
- Crystal (10/5): - The Communication with the owners was awesome! They checked on us the day before our arrival to get an estimated time to make sure they were ready for us. Check in was easy and the place was absolutely adorable! Such a cool relaxed vibe. I read a lot of reviews about the stairs but they were not bad at all! They even offered to lock up our larger luggage so we didn't have to carry everything up to our room. For Dinner we walked to Twisted Cork for a great meal and We really enjoyed hanging out in the lounge at Olga's the next morning and having THE BEST coffee with the owner before walking down to Frenchtown Deli for a fabulous breakfast! Easy Convenient Location, quick ride from the airport and Highly recommended!
- Vicki (10/5): - We brought our children to the Virgin Islands and wanted to introduce them to Olga’s Fancy. We love staying here. Candy and Eddie always make us feel welcomed and like family.
- Kathy (8/5): - The place is quaint, and fine for one night. Bed needs replacing.
- carlos (6/5): - Ok for one night.
- Brenda (10/5): - Party of 8, quiet, clean and wonderful staff
- Sandyann (10/5): - They made us feel like family. Delightful!
- Jenica (8/5): - Nice place. Lots of steps.
- Wendell (8/5): - Good option outside of mainstream (Westin, etc). Staff very nice.
- jeannine (10/5): - The owners were very kind and friendly. Close location to the ferry and walkable to food
- andrewtduane (10/5): Best hotel on the island. - Olga’s continues to be an outstanding accommodation for staying in Frenchtown, St. Thomas. Owners all well versed in all things USVI, and location is perfect next to great restaurants and ferry terminal to BVI. Breakfast next door is a 3 minute walk and you are set for the day.
- Marilyn (10/5): - Easy location to stay prior to heading to airport. Easy to walk to Frenchtown & Charlotte Amalie. Great views. Easy walk to Oceana for dinner.
- Robert (6/5): - None
- Gary (8/5): - Property was very unique and interesting history. Great location as close to airport, rental cars, shopping. 30 minutes from St John ferries. Really liked and appreciated the engaging owners. Unfortunately we only had one night to stay there.
- Linda Anne (10/5): - Great location!!!!
- George (10/5): - Great communication from Eddie. Be ready to climb stairs.
Not for the mobility challenged traveler. Easy 10 minute walk from Edward Blyden IV marine terminal, smith ferry.
10 minutes to STT airport. Walkable Frenchtown too
- Ron (10/5): - Great
- Jonathan (6/5): - The place vibrates. lol. Like every hour or so there was a low rumble that built up to a resonance frequency and the whole room vibrated. Made it hard to sleep. Fortunately we were only there in transit for one night. Owner/operator is amazing. Pointed us to n the direction of some of the best places overall of our trip.
- KIMBERLY (10/5): - Olga 's Fancy was a great place for my family to stay after a 7 day sailing trip. What we wanted most was a big hot shower and a big soft bed and Olga's Fancy was spot on with both. And it's right next door to Oceana, which served the best meal we had the entire trip.
- Heather (10/5): - Great space to stay for downtown activities
- Danna (10/5): - We loved our stay. They are so nice and helpful. Rooms are clean and decorated so cute. Walkable to restaurants too. We will be back.
- Rick (8/5): - Bridge night before going to Tortola. Delightful place, clean rooms w stellar AC. Not the
- Verified traveler (10/5): Love Olga’s - This is a very peaceful and beautiful place with water views. Walking distance to a couple of restaurants make it easy.
- Greg (10/5): - This place is special. If you’re looking for a high end hotel this is not it. If you are looking for great views awesome staff and room 17 was amazing laying in bed looking out the window if feels like your bed is in the ocean. The rosters in the morning create an authentic vibe. The restaurant next door was amazing as well. We walk the neighborhood and felt very safe at night. Final thought if you’re a regular person looking to look past the bs this is the place. I look fwd to coming back.
- Kay (10/5): - Convenient to airport. Super friendly
- William (10/5): - Well located close to airport, but far enough away that we were not bothered by plane noise. Very clean and affordable rooms. Limited options on TV in room without any cable TV, but could use apps for your own subscribed services. The Olga's Fancy employees were always very helpful and courteous. We did not care for the deodorizer used in room when we first arrived but it dissipated rather fast when we opened the sliding doors to the beautiful view overlooking the ocean.
- Malinda Mae (10/5): - This is a cute little resort tucked back by the Frenchtown Marina. Nicely decorated and near some dining options. Room was clean and staff were friendly. Warning-there a lot of stairs to navigate on the property. We would visit again.
- Edward (4/5): NEVER AGAIN!!! - the room i booked had a roach in it, can of raid should have told me everything! now i know why the room was so cheap! i'll take the blame for that! also was only told about 20 steps to the outside lobby, not the other 40 to get to the room! also were not informed about a local festival that was going on the night of our stay, loud horrible music blared all night and all next day!! couldn't sleep as it sounded like it was at the bottom of all those steps!!!! never again!!!
- Richard (10/5): - Old wood and a lot if steps. Perfectly on the sea and built into a mountain side
Incredible staff. Not super modern just perfect
- Noelle (10/5): - Nice size room and excellent views. The only thing you need to consider is carrying your suitcase(s) up the stairs from the arrival point In fairness, we were warned and even in our 60's we were able to get our too-heavy suitcases upstairs. It was worth it!
- Krista (10/5): - The place is so cute, clean and staff is incredible. Check in is easy
- john (10/5): - The location was convenient. The staff was helpful
- James (10/5): - A funky cool VI place to stay. In Frenchtown and on the water
- Joe (10/5): - Xxcc
- avivits2025 (6/5): Very far away motel - I stayed one night at Olga’s Fancy on May 1 2025 together with my boyfriend and nothing was as the reviews say. If you don’t have a car don’t stay there!!! The place is tucked very far away at the far end of Frenchtown and the Marina. It’s far to walk anywhere and no public transportation available. There is one restaurant and a McDonald’s nearby. Taxis are very expensive and they don’t have Uber.
The rooms are clean but not much toiletry, it’s more like a motel.
Avivit
- Maria (10/5): - Staff friendliness and recommendations and service were the highlight of our stay.
- Jason (10/5): - .
- Richard (2/5): - The worst
- Harry (2/5): Unacceptable , terrible - We were never told until day before there were 30-40 steps to our rooms and no bellhop service . Roaches in the room . Concrete floors ! We were also never told of festival and the loud loud music all through the night and into the morning . Basically , information hidden just to get booking . I want a refund . No sleep at all .
Worst stay I’ve ever had in my 68 years
- Scott (10/5): - It's a quaint spot right on the ocean that over looks the harbor. It's quiet and cozy and is an easy walk over to the old town Charlotte Amalie. French Town, where Olga's is located, is it's own neighborhood with a couple good restaurants and a brewpub. Very nice pool and great views. It is a small place run buy the proprietor so that's a nice touch. The rooms are perched on a hill side, hence to great views, but you need to climb stairs so someone who travels with a lot of heavy luggage may find that interesting. It's a small quiet place so take it for what it's worth. If you are a Waldorf hotel type person and like all the glitz and marble floors this may not be the place for you but to each their own. Reasonable price and close to fairly close to the airport so it's easy to get there via taxi.
- Jeffrey C (10/5): - What a wonderful little hotel! After 5 nights on St. John we wanted one last day close to the airport to recoup before our trip home. I am so happy we chose Olga’s! It was perfect, you feel like you’re in such a secluded area but you’re less than 10 mins from the airport! The owners we do kind and helpful. The pool was perfect and you’re close to a few good restaurants, would highly recommend!
- Passport00933046382 (10/5): Great location! - The service was very good. They arranged a cab for us to the airport. I really like the location. 5 star restaurant Oceana is next door. Walking distance to French Town area with restaurants and micro brewery. Great view from the hotel overlooking the water. Only downside’s were stairs at the hotel if this is an issue for you and only a pool no actual beachfront ( rocky). Excellent value for the price.
- Sandra (10/5): - Very friendly, helpful owners. We stayed in a pretty oceanside room and there were several good restaurants nearby. We've stayed at this property multiple times before and after sailing trips.
- Elise (10/5): - Overall great property for the price. Close to dining and close to the airport for a quick taxi ride. Cute property with nice amenities for the price on the island.
- Kadden (10/5): - Candy and Ed definitely made me feel right at home! As soon as me and my husband arrived Ed made sure we had everything we needed and gave us a little run down on things to do! The views were amazing and the pool was refreshing! Definitely cannot wait to come back to Olga’s! Thank you Candy and Ed for making this little get away feel like home!
- Stephen (10/5): - We had a very enjoyable stay
- Ken (10/5): - I will definitely revisit this hotel. Can’t wait to come again.
- Kerry (8/5): - So close to the ferry. We found it easily walkable (even with luggage). There are several close by restaurants. We splurged at ate at the Oceana, which was great! We also ate at the Pie-hole pizza-it was great! For breakfast/brunch we ate at the Frenchtown Deli, which was really good!
- Michael (10/5): - Located at the end of a quiet street there are two rooms on the water across the parking lot from the rest of the property and the other rooms continue up a slope for more views. Thank you Eddie and your wife for a wonderful stay.
- Joy (8/5): - The hotel was unique.Lots of stairs which we knew but challenging.
The room was spotless and the bed comfortable. Pool looked inviting. Morning coffee was lovely. Hosts were hospitable and helpful
It is not at all fancy.
View is fantastic
- Aimee (10/5): - We absolutely loved our stay at Olga’s Fancy! Eddie and Candy were incredibly welcoming and accommodating, making us feel right at home from the moment we arrived. The property is stunning—lush, tropical, and full of character—and the location is perfect for anyone looking to experience the quieter, more authentic side of St. Thomas.
It’s worth noting that the property has several stairs, which could be a challenge for guests with mobility concerns. However, the hosts are very upfront about this at the time of booking and allow plenty of time to cancel for a full refund if needed.
The resident chickens and sweet island kitties roaming the grounds added even more charm to the experience—they’re such a fun and fitting part of the island vibe. If you’re looking for a peaceful, picturesque stay that captures the real spirit of the Caribbean, Olga’s Fancy is a wonderful choice.
- Tori (10/5): - Rooms were clean, and there is a very nice pool. The hosts are extremely friendly and check in was a breeze. We loved the first class restaurant on site; right next to the beach! We had the 16 oz ribeye, grilled Wahoo with seasonal vegetables, arugula salad, garlic foccacia bread and gruyère cheese fondue. We will be going back next week after our sailing adventure. 5⭐️
- Lani (8/5): - Fun place next to awesome restaurant with an AMAZING history!
- Brian (10/5): - Such a beautiful spot. The staff was incredibly helpful and kind. 10/10 recommend.
- Sabrina (10/5): Lovely room, friendly staff. - We enjoyed our room in the cottage, nice view to sit and relax, friendly and helpful staff.
- Noemie (10/5): - We had a fantastic stay at Olga's fancy! As we arrived, we got upgraded and had a larger room. Every thing was amazing, so peaceful and clean. Fantastic ocean views from the property and we had an excellent dinner at Oceana, 2 min walk from the restaurant. Breakfast in the morning was great and peaceful as well as we had some coffee by the pool.
Our one-night stay was a peaceful parenthesis, would come back anytime! Thank you for a great stay!
- Jennifer (10/5): Love Olga's - Very friendly and beautiful view.
- Kathleen (10/5): - Love this place. A bit funky and a lot of fun. Can’t wait to go back.
- James (10/5): - Our plane was almost 3 hours late putting us well past check in time. The owner Eddie returned to greet us and get us settled in. The room was well appointed, nicely decorated and the bed was great! A great tropical vibe!
