Guest Reviews
- Cesar (10/5): - Good places to stay
- Brian (8/5): - It’s fine
- Alaric (10/5): - Safe quiet place to get rest, and they have a diner open 24/7.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Mostly nice staff. But Sleep Inn is way better. - Pool closed. Rude mid morning clerk. The early morning and evening clerks were very nice. Restaurant was ok but cost 7.11 for 2 20 oz fountain drinks. Asked around. Pool. is always closed. Whole reason we booked there. Would have stayed at Sleep Inn had they said pool was closed
- Patricia (10/5): - Friendly reception with helpful suggestions about the area.
- Mr. W. W. Turner, (4/5): - I asked that my room be cleaned as I was out of towels and it had not been cleaned but once since I had checked in. This was the day before I checked out. After the room was serviced, I noticed that a plastic spoon I had purchased was missing. When I returned home, I found that someone had gotten into my luggage, and I was also missing $35 - $40 in one dollar bills.
- Tanya (10/5): - Great property and staff was wonderful
- Kyle (2/5): - Terrible
- Sharon (10/5): - The staff were very friendly and professional
- Melvin (6/5): - One of the reasons we picked this was due to location, it was halfway from our arrival to our intended destination. another was for the fact that it stated it had a pool. was unfortunate that the pool was not available for either of our visits on the way down or the return.
- Melvin (6/5): - Review same as before about the lack of pool available. disappointing since it specifically stated that it was.
- Naresh (6/5): - A basic hotel with friendly staff and a comfy bed. My room faced the rear of the property where there is a train line. Where the bed was comfy, it was really annoying when trains regularly passed by with their horns blaring. I did not sleep well as I was woken up at least 5 times through the night, by trains blaring their horns. The hotel is at the end of town so I guess the train horns are for the crossing, but it was so so annoying.
- carol (10/5): - We picked a good one :)
There's a 24/7 diner on the first floor and Lorrie is fantastic as well as the other woman who works nights. I don't have her name but both are so friendly and the food was good. We had breakfast as well as dinner. There is also a mexican restaurant that's only a rock throw away. The cleaning staff was wonderful. We didn't use that service but asked the front desk if they could replenish our towels. They did so and replenished tp as well. :) Front desk staff also very friendly. We definitely will stay here again when we go back to Fort Scott, KS.
- Shemeka (6/5): - The hotel room had an stuffy or mildew order.
- Joseph (10/5): - Wonderful hotel next to a very good Mexican restaurant!
- Joseph (6/5): - It was ok but the staff needs to be more courteous to what you need instead of being a smartaleck.
- Kenneth (10/5): - Every time we come to this place the staff is always helpful and the rooms clean! Can’t ask for much more 😁
- Deana (10/5): - We enjoyed our overnight stay. Thank you.
- Anura (6/5): - The train ran through out the night blowing its horn three times each time it came through. The train ran no less that three times between 3 am - 7:00 am everyday that I stayed there. The walls are paper thin. Our neighbors in the room right next to me started talking extrememely loud to each other starting at 6:30 am each day that I was their. The restaurant wasn't fully operational while I was there.
The room was extremely dusty as if the room has never been dusted, vacuumed or the drapes washed. Last, but not least the wash clothes were as thin as Bounty paper towels. The bath and hand towels were good. TV channel selection was great and the beds were comfortable.
- Pamela (4/5): - The frint desk staff at checkin didn't know what she was doing. Therefore, i was charged twice for the room. Even tho they supposedly got that straightened out, it will be 7-10 days before i know for sure. (They can charge at the blink of an eye but credit back takes forever)
We also had to redo our keycards 3x because they would quit working.
It was obvious that tgey cater to the Railroad workers.
- Kenneth (6/5): - Go
- Brenda (10/5): - The room was excellent. Clean, more drawer and hanging space for clothes than ive seen at other hotels. Everything was super comfortable and i loved the little 24 hour cafe! Never seen anything like that. The staff were super friendly and gave us excellent restaurant ideas too.
Highly recommend!
- John (10/5): - Only stayed one night while passing through.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For small-town, moderately priced hotel, this was a pleasant experience. Everything was clean and comfortable for our night’s stay. We were impressed and would recommend!
- Mary (10/5): Travelodge by Wyndham Fort Scott - This hotel had a 24/7 small restaurant that had delicious food. Our room was clean and comfortable. All workers were friendly and willing to share local information.
- Richard (6/5): - We arrived in the check in and got a room while it already charged my credit card. The lady gives me the key card and told me that swimming pool closed due to PH balance is off. The check-in area feels pretty cool temp and walked thru the hallway, feel like little heat. In the room, too much cold temp. The TV is very limit channels, no sports, you have to pay the DirecTV. You sit on the toilet, but you can't reach the toilet tissues on other side wall as 4 feet. It should not charge full price, cause pool closed, limit channel tv, etc!
- Randall (8/5): - Nice quiet room. Very convenient for outings.
- ebony (10/5): - The staff was really nice and helpful
- Misty (6/5): - .
- Craig (6/5): Issues with Travelodge - This was a below average hotel that had some issues. We did not get maid service on the 2nd day until we asked at 5:00 pm. They only had one maid cleaning and servicing rooms. My other issue was with the pet policy that charges $40 plus tax for each day that you stay and for two days we were charged $92.32. At this rate, a 5 night stay would be a pet fee of $230.80 and is not a very pet friendly hotel. This is the most I have ever paid for our small 15 pound friend that is well behaved. Most hotels pet fees are for cleaning the room at the end of your stay and are not charged daily. Travelodge charged daily and did not even come to clean our room until we went to the desk at 5:00 pm and asked for at least getting some clean towels. We stayed at 4 other hotels on this trip and this Travelodge had the most expensive pet fees, was the least clean, and only offered a Queen bed. We also had to ask for a change of rooms from the first one they put us in because it had a terrible smell of urine and they were trying to air it out with a fan.
- Kelly (6/5): - The pool was closed for the season. It was warm and the kids wanted to swim.
- LaCretia (6/5): - I did not get the room I paid for on line. The pool was not open- sign said closed for the season-- its past memorial day!!. No breakfast for the price you pay. They have a diner however all the breakfast meat is Pork. You have to request an ice bucket and liner. The receptionist at the desk was informative.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Nothing special. Very outdated.
- Douglas (6/5): - The location and staff were nice. Unfortunately the top sheet on one of the beds had an obvious blood stain on the upper sheet. It had been washed but the stain was set in and in a location near the head area. This just kind of took the cleanliness issue down. The room temperature was set very low when we got into the room so it took quite a while to get comfortable after checking in.
- John (10/5): - Loved the restaurant on site. Staff always is great.
- Lee S (8/5): - The staff is friendly and remember you from past stays.
- Penny (6/5): - Quite attractive from the outside view. For some reason we were given a handicapped room even though we had not requested it and did not need it. Since microwave was below counter level, it was hard to read keypad. Seemed to be for someone in a wheelchair, but the shower was not a walk-in shower. Room was hot, even though we set thermostat to 66, pillow was like sleeping on a rock. The only noise was from the elevator, but it was not too noisy. Wyndom usually offers a better experience. There were a couple of maintenance issues and housekeeping was not up to snuff. Pile of dirt on coffee table, unclean towel rack in bathroom.
- Avery (10/5): - Staff was so friendly and the room was updated and clean. Check in and check out was very easy. We forgot our dogs shoes in our room and called later that day and they were able to ship them to us which was so kind. I’ve tried other hotels and motels in the area that fit within our budget but this was the best by far. Will stay here again!
- Judy (8/5): - I would assume the front desk is short staffed as there was always a wait and when we checked out no one ever came to the front desk. Maybe some kind of system to call for assistance.
- Kenneth (10/5): - We got there exhausted- the room was immaculate and comfortable. Kayla the desk clerk incredibly helpful!
- Torey (10/5): - Clean & nice
- Brenda (10/5): - Property was well kept, motel was clean.
- Sanice (10/5): - The staff was friendly and very accommodating
- Michael (8/5): - Nice room, clean and comfortable.
- Karen (4/5): - close to food places
- Ryan (8/5): 5/14 Stay - Good stay
- Angela (10/5): - I went back because we love the cook to order breakfast at Penny's Diner. The price is not included in the cost of the hotel. However, it was top notch and the price of the hotel made up the difference. What I forgot about this location was that it is close to the train tracks and the warning horns woke us up over and over again, all night long.
- Jim (8/5): - Okay
- Don (8/5): - Location was good, quiet facility.
- Sarah (6/5): - The fire alarms going off at 4am.
- Daniel (10/5): - Safe, clean and friendly staff
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Room was overpriced for the quality and area. A blinking smoke alarm or something was annoying when trying to sleep. Someone “accidentally “ checked me out 2 days early and then my credit card was charged again for 2 nights. I hope that charge is credited soon.
- Christy (8/5): - The staff was super nice & friendly. Property was clean & easy to get to. Enjoyed the outdoor pool it might need surfacing but water was clean & able to relax.
- Raymond D (8/5): - Was clean but a little worn. No problems and the diner served very good food.
- Kendra (6/5): - It was a nice hotel but the beds were very uncomfortable and i paid extra price to get the whirlpool spa but didnt get it was very upset
- Jayne (6/5): - Dated! Hard to get to! Staff was very professional
- Mark (6/5): - Front desk staff was nice. Room was clean. It was strange having to put a blanket in the bed from a drawer, end the blanket was fleece and not typical hotel comforter. And walls were paper thin, so could hear conversations from next door. Turned on bathroom air vent and it effectively drowned out that noise.
- keith (10/5): - Was able to check in early downstairs by exit which is what I requested. Great location. My wife could walk to all stores while I hunted all day. Very quiet , clean and comfortable. I’ll be back there every year
- Jake (2/5): - Booked through Expedia was told they just needed to see the card. Handed it to the lady and she charged me again for the room. Still waiting for a refund. 2 days later there was no blanket for the bed and when I called to ask she said oh there is one in the dresser just use it. No breakfast available.
- Christy (10/5): - We had never been to Fort Scott. They were helpful and made us feel welcome.
- Dale (8/5): - The amount of trains passing by the hotel. No food except for paying for breakfast. Smaller tv screen compared to all hotels we stayed at during our trips for the past two weeks.
- Trinidad (6/5): Average - Everything is fine. But the bed is hard like a board and it squeaks and makes noise everytime you move.
- William (8/5): - staff was great. they put us on the first floor as requested. unfortunately, the person above us chose to walk around all night keeping us up
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Was great for the money when the city was booked to capacity- all great!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was clean and quiet even though there were several people and dogs also staying there. The cafe area could have looked more inviting. The early morning cafe server was nice though.
- Michael (4/5): Mehhhh - It’s an old hotel that’s still stuck in the 90s.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - This Travelodge by Wyndham Fort Scott was comfortable and clean. Location was very good for me, and with the Diner on-site, and the El Charro Restaurant adjacent, meals were easy and good.
Overall, I had a very good experience. I actually had reserved a Queen Room, and I was placed in a Queen Suite at no extra cost, and without requesting it, and if was very comfortable and convenient.
- Michael (8/5): Nice motel - Clean room and friendly personal. Convenient location.
- CodyD (8/5): - Staff was very friendly and nice! Facility was clean and quiet.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Had a nice experience..staff was very friendly and rooms was nicely cleaned.
- Beth (8/5): - Staff was great. Friendly and provided good recommendations.
- Verified traveler (4/5): First time / Last time - We were checked into a room that had not even been cleaned, no sheets on the bed, etc. the replacement room that we were given had no blankets for the bed. There was less than 1/3 of a roll of toilet paper in the restroom and no additional roll left. Refrigerator would not cool. The 1 ice machine in the entire hotel was broken. As we walked in and out the front door of the hotel the staff sits right at the table next to the door smoking.
There were signs that said due to COVID-19 house keeping (linens and towels) would only be done every 5 days. However our garbage was never taken out. One evening we returned to the hotel around 10:15pm and someone from the cleaning crew was still cleaning rooms on our floor.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Not very clean and the bed was very uncomfortable.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Best price, very comfortable. - We chose to stay here again this year for an event in town. The room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and the heater worked great after a cold dreary day!
- Guy (8/5): - It has a 24 hour Penny's Diner in it. It is really convenient.
- Annie (10/5): - Great location. Quiet. Friendly staff. Easy check in/out process.
- Bobo (8/5): - Nothing unique. The weight room and pool table area needs some improvements
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The room was so comfortable and clean. Front desk stsff very friendly.
- Tim (6/5): - No Hot water to take a shower with. Was luke warm at the beginning then freezing cold before I was done
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Nice and clean, good value for the money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Wish they had a free breakfast. Penny’s diner didn’t work for us. We prefer a light breakfast- yogurt and cereal.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Penny's cafe was wonderful. Knowlegde of the area was lacking by some.
- Traveler (6/5): - Nice hotel and friendly staff. Need dehumidifiers for the first floor rooms. Very damp and musty smelly. Hotel will be great once they fix this and we will be back. May look for other places to stay if they don’t
- Meghann (6/5): Worth the price - Hotel was clean but room was very, very small. We enjoyed our stay as the value was worth what we paid.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Smelled of stale smoke even though all rooms are non smoking.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Checkin was a nightmare with an unexperienced and rude ( maybe just dumb?) person manning the desk. Key wasn't progtammed, and room eas on the noisy parking lot. No Internet.
- Shamus (4/5): - The pool isn't available. Front desk said it's rarely open. The hotel is a bit sketchy and rough around the edges. The"black cloth" in the bathroom was a huge turn off. Almost made us check-out. Never seen anything like that before.
- Kristin (6/5): Basic - Just not that kept up, basic place that is very musty smelling.
No coffee in lobby and no breakfast included.
- HL (8/5): - Property is older but has some newer renovations. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Room was clean and simple. Rooms had WiFi, fridge, and microwave. Hotel used frequently with construction crews/workers. Hotel also near train tracks, so that was loud each night. Close to lots of restaurants, gas stations; Walmart. Restaurant on site, so no free breakfast and didn’t try it but was open 24 hours (food did look good). Pool was broken while we were there. For the price, it couldn’t be beat (others in our party stayed across town for more than double the price for only slightly better accommodations).
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Pool was not open due to a part that was on order. Second time we stayed there and will be back. Bed and pillows were very comfortable. Restaurant manager still there. Everyone exceptionally nice.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The staff was amazing and very accommodating! The rooms were fine. Our window leaked when it rained and the drenched our stuff that was sitting on the ledge. The front desk tried to comp our room for the night, but since we booked thru Expedia they weren’t able to. Thank goodness for the dryer! The listing said there was a gym but that term should be used very loosely...2 sets of dumbbells and some very old broken recumbent bikes don’t really count.
- Melanie Johnson (8/5): - No free breakfast. Linens were so/so. Otherwise fine stay.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked that they had a kitchen going most of the day, making fresh food. Would have been better with a free breakfast, but still a nice touch.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The bed was not comfortable ,mattress was hard and lumpy
- Deeanna (10/5): Great place to stay - I was up for a wedding and really enjoyed myself there
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Check in clerk very nice. Room comfortable and clean.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Modest and clean - Hotels in Ft.Scott are hard to come by that are clean. We picked this one since it had good reviews. It needs some repairs but overall it was clean. Bed was not the most comfortable, but we made do. Carpet had a huge rip in it and wall in the shower was peeling. Out tv never worked during our stay so that was kind of a downer.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Clean room and clerk at the desk was friendly and helpful
- Verified traveler (8/5): Overnight stay on a road roadtrip - Hotel was pretty modern, must have been built in the last 5 years or so. Close to shopping and food. Comfortable and clean, and reasonably priced! No Breakfast included. My only word of caution is don't use the vending machine! It dropped my bag of chips, but the door wouldn't open enough to get to them :(
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Maintenance never came to clean my room. Had to ask for towels.
Potholes at the entrance to hotel.
