• Rosalie (10/5): - I had such a lovely stay at this hostel! I stayed in the women’s room, which was spotless and had its own bathroom. Tess at reception was absolutely wonderful, so kind and incredibly helpful, and the rest of the team were just as friendly and welcoming. The location is also very good, really close to everything, which made getting around super easy.

• Louie (10/5): Great value, social hostel for the money but still easy to get rest - I really liked the atmosphere of this hostel! A great mix of people who were all really keen to socialise without it seeming like too much! I noticed that the rooms were cleaned daily in my stay, which I think is great especially in some of the bigger rooms. The staff were always really friendly when I had questions about things to do in the area! The free events with food and drinks throughout the week are also great when travelling on the budget! My room was upstairs, but at least then you don’t get much noise from the street

• Jime F (5/5): Hope they changed mattresses - Most of the staff were really friendly. The mattress I was sleeping in, I could feel the wires on my body. I woke up feeling so sore and tired that I had to miss out on some activities. When I mentioned this to the receptionist, she said they were changing some mattresses but that weekend was extremely busy so they couldn't change all. I wasn't offered anything from this, would have been a good customer service to receive some kind of refund at least for that night. I fixed this issue myself, moving to another bed when my friend left the hostel. Additionally, the power plug didn't work. I reported this tp reception and the response was because it was the weekend, probably they wouldn't be able to get anyone to fix it. There wasn't a solution to this issue from them either, like a extension cord. I was lucky I took my 3m USB C cable to charge my phone and I plugged it on my friends wall plug. The hostel doesn't have a proper "meeting" space. The kitchen is very small and the TV room gets shut after 10pm. So not much opportunity to make friends.
• Charlie (9/5): A great stay - I liked pretty much everything. It was the total opposite of my stay at Mad Monkey Broadway. It was clean all the time, most of the staff were friendly, it was lively and had quiet moments, the location is great, I slept well most nights and the lockers under the beds are the best place for lockers in my opinion. The only thing I could suggest is having more fridge space. That seems to be a common issue in Mad Monkey hostels. This part is down to individuals who stay at hostels, but please please stop spraying aerosols in the dorm room! Don't be so selfish.

I really enjoyed my overall stay and found it very c - Very close proximity to Kingcross Train station and the Merto Woolworth’s. I also valued the safety measures taken in terms of the locks on doors to the main building and to the rooms it self I shared an 8 dorm room, didn’t mind this as all except for the shower room, it didn’t have like a curtain or something around the tub so water would be getting all over the floor and making the floor mat very soggy and wet

• Katherine Lisseth (1/5): Disappointing - Nothing, everything was dirty I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction and frustration regarding the service we received during our stay. From the moment we arrived, we experienced significant difficulties. The receptionist on duty seemed poorly informed and unable to provide proper assistance. We explained clearly that I am pregnant and respectfully asked whether it would be possible to have a room with a bed downstairs instead of upstairs, as using the upstairs bed was not safe or practical for me. Her response was a firm and dismissive "no," without any willingness to explore alternatives or offer a solution. Due to the lack of support and understanding, we felt we had no choice but to look for alternative accommodation that could meet our needs. The following day, another receptionist was much more helpful and showed willingness to assist us; however, by that point it was already too late as we had made other arrangements. Despite explaining the situation and the inconvenience we experienced, we were still required to pay for two nights even though we only stayed for one night. Furthermore, we were asked to leave immediately, which made us feel that the priority was simply to make the room available again rather than to treat us fairly as paying guests. It is very disappointing that no consideration was given to my pregnancy or to the reasonable request we made from the beginning. This situation caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience, and we believe the way this matter was handled was unfair and unprofessional. For these reasons, we respectfully request a review of our case and appropriate compensation or a refund for the unused night. We hope this matter can be resolved promptly.

• Charlotte (10/5): Easy, fun, great stay for any backpacker - A lovely hostel tucked into Kings Cross, highly commutable to the opera house and CBD (or central Sydney) as well as a few buses to Bondi for the infamous congee to bondi walk! Great vibe with events, clean rooms, nice people and location. What more can you ask for really? Would have been amazing to have mirrors in the bathroom and shower room within en suite dorma, as well as shelves and more pegs. There are communal hall shower and bathrooms too.

• Poppy (4/5): Sociable - The staff were very friendly, the other residents were also very friendly so it was overall very sociable. The aircon in our 14 man room did not work so it was ridiculously hot at all times. When we mentioned it to staff they said they were aware it wasn’t good and needed replacing but there was nothing they could do about it. There were also numerous cockroaches in the bedrooms, and overall cleanliness was not the best. It is also advertised as an 18-35 yrs hostel, however we had a near 40yr old man in our room with young girls who regularly made us feel uncountable, especially at night.

• Verheugd (9/5): Friendly welcome in Melbourne - The employees working at the hostel were all really nice. It almost felt like they were also guest just keeping everything up and running. I even got a Hannah tattoo from someone working at the desk. If you're looking for a friendly environment where you can make new friends either with the employees or people that stay at the hostel this really is the perfect place to go. All facilities were clean and looked quite good. Some of the pots and pans were maybe getting a little on the older side. But with tourists that don't know how to cook using those everyday I'm not surprised that not everything in the kitchen was in perfect shape. They did however have some spices which are shared which I thought was really nice.

The hostel beds were comfier than I was expecting, and the AC in the rooms is soo helpful in the heat. Staff was also quite friendly and gave me really useful information on how to set up everything for jobs and accommodation in the city! Sydney accommodation prices have gotten really high lately :(

• Gabriel (8/5): Good price, great stay! - I moved to MM Kings Cross after absolutely running away from the Downtown one that was dirty, extremely hot, small and packed. Best decision ever! Here, reception staff was helpful, kind and nice from the very begging and up until the end, this really makes a difference! The hostel in general was very clean. Kitchen is well equipped. Aircon in the room was an absolute plus. Beds are very comfy with 2 personal power outlets, spacious lockers and a bedside lamp. 4pax room was very spacious and other guests were really respectful during their stays. This hostel is really worth the price, unlike so many others in Sydney! The shower on the first floor floods everything while you're showering and the gap under the door is too big imo so it's a bit uncomfortable because there's two sinks directly next to where you're showering. A couple extra showers and toilets wouldn't hurt. 4pax room is directly next to reception. During the day it can get quite noisy. In the evenings this was rarely the issue except for one Saturday night where there were music and people being very loud up until 11.40pm.

• Marco (5/5): Cockroaches hostel - The staff is the only valuable part of this hostel. They always help and are super friendly. First time I see a hostel full of cockroaches. Bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, common room - everywhere!! Even in the dinning tables, that is just simply disgusting. Don’t thing I have the same understating of “deep cleaning”, changing only the sheets and put toilet paper is definitely not a deep cleaning. No matter how much or frequently you clean, the only way to get rid off these animals is using pesticides.
• Erdenechimeg (4/5): Disappointing - Good location, clean There’s no policy on guests in rooms, so my roommate brought a girl, and they had sex at night. My bed was shaking, which woke me up at 3 AM. Now they’re talking its 3:15am, and I can’t sleep. I don’t think it’s safe to bring outsiders in—what if they steal our belongings?

• Kato (4/5): Disappointing - Very social, friendly staff. Rooms were spacious enough. The kitchen was really dirty. Cockroaches and other insect everywhere (also on the table when we were eating). The fridges were too small. The room was fine but the AC didn’t work and would drip on 2 of the beds. It was also humid in the rooms to the point that nothing would dry and everything constantly felt damp.

The staff is super friendly, the hostel is clean and vibrant, and there are plenty of social events to meet new people. The location is perfect, close to everything in Sydney, and the overall vibe makes it easy to relax and have fun. Highly recommend it! Nothing :)
