Guest Reviews
- Linda (10/5): Fabulous , would love to stay a few more nights beautiful views - Luxury venue for my goddaughters wedding Apartments very comfortable clean and fresh
- Gillian (10/5): Amazing stay in stunning location. Absolutely loved this hotel and wish we could have stayed longer - Beautiful hotel, gorgeous location, amazing staff. Food was 1st class Loved it all
- Mary (9/5): Excellent - Very comfortable bedroom, spotlessly clean. Staff were very helpful. Nothing
- Nils (9/5): - Skøn morgenmad og meget hyggelige værelser
- Saskia (9/5): Geweldig - De ligging was prachtig.
- Sarah (10/5): Wish Penrith helped to promote these lovely places more - the view is lovely - Personal lovely people Nothing
- sam (10/5): -
- Ben (10/5): -
- Brett (9/5): Really pleasant stay!! - Very well located off the motorway, very helpful staff, clean and tidy. Good parking and great views. The reception area and entrance is a bit tight to get into with a buggy and baby.
- Christopher (10/5): -
- Diane (9/5): Excellent as always - We were upgraded to the apartments which were very nice Nothing in particular, breakfast could be hotter and bacon can be overcooked, not sure if it’s precooked and warmed up but it dries it out
- Sian (9/5): Staff were warm and polite and patient - Staff were warm and polite and patient: They were also professional and exceedingly smart! As part of a family reunion weekend gathering from across Western Europe - for someone's big birthday celebration - we were quite a demanding bunch... and the staff put up with our idiosyncrasies with good humour. The food and the scenery were equally enjoyable and so was the atmosphere. The garden area, outside, was wonderful; and window views, everywhere; were a real treat... In my bathroom and bedroom; the toiletries and tea tray contents were of good quality. My big bed was comfy; the heating worked well; and I felt well looked after... I only have one criticism. Modern shower floors can often do with a good quality shower mat, for added confidence of movement. Were I the manager, I would sort that out with the provision of large, white, rectangular, suction shower mats; to be rinsed and dried off by housekeeping staff: That way, they stay fresh... I would personally suggest that guests might consider bringing their own, for now, or ask about this - in advance.

- Small (10/5): Beautiful will defo go back - I couldn't list one thing to like what a beautiful and luxury homely environment from the room which was perfect, shower was powerful and clean bathroom, staff actually seemed extremely happy to work there and apply a service to high standard, we arrived Thursday and they had the Asia menu and the food was exceptional, drink prices were reasonable and breakfast in the morning was beautifully presented and tasty. Not a single thing.
- Colin (10/5): -

In an outstanding part of the world. Highly recommended.

- Karen (10/5): Feel special in this gorgeous building - Lovely and warm in spite of minus temperatures outside. Lovely quality bed linen.
Staff really went the extra mile to help you.
Definitely eat there - evening meal was delicious (vegetarian choice good). Breakfast was superb. Lovely coffee. The bathroom was exceptionally cold! No heating there. It also took time for hot water to come through on the shower but when it did, it was great. Good pressure.
- Ian (8/5): -

- Dan (9/5): Ideal for our needs with the bonus of a great setting.. - Worked perfectly for our business trip, great evening meal and breakfast. Very comfortable room.
- Diane (9/5): Excellent as always - Staff are outstanding so helpful My only negative is breakfast is never hot, it appears the food is pre-cooked and reheated, it’s definitely not freshly made, we’ve stayed a few times and it’s been the same on each occasion, not ideal!

- Julie (9/5): Great hotel in a great location - Hotel is in a great location with many places of interest just a short drive. Beautiful building, our room had a great view. It was very spacious with plenty of drawers/wardrobe space. Comfortable bed and great shower. Cooked Breakfast was really nice, I personally would have liked more pastries and fruit too. The staff were very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend. We didn’t see the small notice that said towels needed to be left in the shower if we wanted them replaced, we thought they would be changed each day. Not a massive problem but something to be aware of.
- raymond (10/5): - first class food
- Ian (9/5): Apartment was excellent, extremely comfortable. -
- Mary Kinnell (10/5): Fabulous. - The room was amazing. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Air conditioning would have been nice. It was a heat wave and the room was like an oven at times. But we can't control the weather.
- Sandra (9/5): Overall a great stay. - Wonderful setting. Very attentive and polite staff. Great ambiance. Some seating made eating more of a challenge.

- Craig (8/5): Great Evening stop on business trip south. Friendly staff and stylish accommodation - Very well located and stylish stay on route south. Close to the M6 but still in nice countryside location with great views. The sun was shining so I was able to take advantage of the nice gardens and nearby walk. Not the fault of the hotel but the access to the walk to the monument was blocked off
- Sharon (10/5): Quick Pit Stop - A quick overnight stop on route to Glasgow. A lovely tranquil place with a lovely bar area overlooking the gardens.
Bedroom had a seating area which was an added bonus. Comfortable. A good hearty breakfast!

- Dominic (9/5): -
- Antony (10/5): Excellent stay, definitely look to stay again. - Excellent hotel, location and staff. Every area was spotlessly clean, good choice of food and staff all attentive when needed. Nothing.

- Donna (10/5): A luxurious and comfortable stay - I loved the rural setting, the beautifully decorated rooms, the delicious meals nothing

- Sarah (10/5): - Lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Convenient location.
Room was well appointed and comfortable with lovely views.
Food was excellent at dinner and breakfast and staff were very helpful, welcoming and friendly.
Will definitely stay again!
- Garrett (9/5): The Roundthorn Country House is a great place to stay. The staff are friendly and professional. - The food served for dinner and breakfast was delicious. Locally sourced ingredients and generous helpings on the plate. We were given a room on the first floor which was very well decorated and comfortable. The view from our room extended over the well maintained gardens to the fields, farmlands, forests and distant mountain range. A stunning view.
You can even spot the railway at night with the train travelling along the track in the distance.
We will definitely stay again when travelling in the area. I have no complaints about this hotel.
- sharon (9/5): -
- Tyreece (9/5): - Not a criticism but more of a suggestion. Possibly having more dinner options
- Carole (10/5): - Lovely hotel with amazing views
- mark (7/5): - Nice setting and ample parking Breakfast used quality ingredients but served luke warm
- Jessica (8/5): -
- susan (10/5): - Excellent stay. Highly recommend Nothing
- James Chaya (8/5): -
- Isty (7/5): -
- Nick_Pye (7/5): Lovely location and house. Sadly the food did not match. - The house is in a great location, and the staff were helpful and kind. There's plenty of parking and one electric charging point. We felt our evening meals let the Country House down. We may have arrived on a day when a large party was also booked, but the food was mediocre (expensive school dinner-ish) and may have been produced for a large party. It did not meet the standard expected from a lovely house and location.
- Clare (10/5): Catered brilliantly for our coeliac daughter. Highly recommend. - Such friendly welcoming staff. Great location just off the motorway.
- Solo (10/5): Great value for money - I loved the surroundings, very beautiful area, I arrived to blue sky and the stars at night outside were amazing.
The staff were very friendly, and my evening meal was excellent and really good value for money, the smoked salmon at my table was fantastic. Really nothing to complain about. Fast broadband, lovely breakfast, fresh coffee, absolutely nothing that I didn't like.
I will definitely stay here again
- Martin (8/5): Lovely hotel, excellent service - a very nice place - Hotel is lovely. Small grounds for a country house but certainly very well appointed and maintained. Excellent parking facilities. Plenty of space. Rooms were very clean and well presented. Very good facilities and an attractive place. I would certainly stay again. The food I ordered (main course) could have been better (it was bland) but that's only subjective. The desert was lovely.
The toilet brush in my bathroom was filthy from previous user.
A lot of noise from the room above me during the night (it was a family with children - rearranging the furniture for an hour until half eleven) so didn't get the early night I wanted but that's the joy of hotels - certainly not the hotels fault.
The breakfast I had was not cooked fresh. The bacon had been around a while.
- Jo (8/5): Beautiful hotel in amazing location - I love this hotel. Quite sentimental about it as my mum’s family is from Penrith so it’s lovely to be able to go back. I have stayed in the apartments previously. This time I was in Rm 8 in the hotel. It’s right at the top, a large room which is very nice but as it has steps down into the room, it also have very annoying blue saftety light. These were bright and woke me at 3. I understand there is a H&S issue here but think it could be more subtle.
Other than that- I really liked it, food was great too.
- David (9/5): Great location.friendly staff-good food - Friendly staff
- frank (9/5): Very very relaxing environment - Good food and nice staff, very beautiful Hotel and grounds Nothing
- lindsey (9/5): - Absolutely stunning hotel and a fab location. would definitely go back. Had very modern facilities including a EV charger at a reasonable price.
- Ian (10/5): Stay 10th May - Annual trip to Penrith for business and where possible we always stay here, excellent service and ever friendly staff
- Craig (10/5): -
