Guest Reviews
- Michelle (10/5): This was our 2nd visit and we plan on returning. - Loved staying in an historic house from 1810. The hosts are lovely and we really felt like we got to know them as friends. The common rooms were cozy and comfortable with lots of interesting reading material. Breakfast was perfect for us: a fruit and yogurt dish and an egg dish. The location provided easy access to town. Be aware that you have to walk upstairs to the guest rooms.
- Daisy (10/5): - loved it all!0 great room, great hosts, gardens galore!
- andrea (10/5): The best part was talking with our host, Gian Carlo! - Very eclectic and interesting
- Pochron (9/5): -
- Ron (9/5): Overnight stay in Millbrook NY - Very nice B&B, owner was very nice. The room was comfortable and it was very close to town. Nothing, it was great
- Paul (10/5): - Great staff and stay for work
- Lisa (10/5): The host and hostess were very friendly and welcoming. The accommodations were good and the food was great! - Beautiful property with a beautiful garden. Nothing
- Ulrich (8/5): -
- Emily (10/5): - Lovely customer service!
- Gerald (10/5): - Gracious host and great breakfast
- Frederick (8/5): Very good - Very nice and different breakfast.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Old building stay in hotel if you dont like old BB - The room was very cold. It was 40 degrees overnight and no heat. Told owner about it the following morning and got upset with that I didn't call him. Shouldn't have to. Make the room comfortable. Breakfast was OK. Should consult with us before assuming I would like what they cooked.
- Michelle (10/5): Love old houses and understand the differences from hotels like creaky floors, etc. - Wonderful breakfast. The location was perfect for the events we were attending. A waste basket in the room would have been more convenient instead of having to walk to the bathroom in the hall at night.
- Garrett (8/5): Very pleasant. A bit expensive, but I guess that’s the market for the area, even in March. - An 18th century house full of Italian antiques. Charming proprietor host. Very difficult to find from the road (at the time of writing, I’m told that the sign is being refurbished)
- Kevin (9/5): Superb -
- Herbert (6/5): Pleasant -
- Brenden (2/5): Do Not Stay Here - This place is terrible.. it is absolutely filthy.. when I walked in the house was a mess.. everything was cluttered…
The room is was in had cracks in the ceiling with the paint chipping from the ceiling and what appeared to be water leaks.
The host is a slob..
- Sandra (10/5): The warmth and comfort of a B&B, plus the privacy and convenience of a traditional hotel. - The Country House has the warmth and comfort of a B&B, plus the privacy and convenience of a traditional hotel. Although just off of a major roadway, and 3-minute drive from the center of Millbrook, the House is tucked away - quiet even with the windows open. The breakfast, cooked by owner-chef Giancarlo, was amazing: coffee or tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, a ricotta-yogurt blend with caramelized apples, and scrumptious eggs on toast with a tomato jam. Nothing - couldn't have been better!
- Melinda (8/5): Very good -
- Jennifer (9/5): It was very pleasant and safe and enjoyable. - The host, the breakfast, the shower and the common areas. The pillows and mattress.
- Geoffroy (10/5): - Nice, quiet, clean, convenient, charming, nice owners and more...
- Caroline (6/5): - I was surprised at the condition of this property based on the price we were paying. The property is very old, which I know is part of the charm. But the amenities were severely lacking - towels were old and scratchy, there were no toiletries provided at all. Breakfast was a real disappointment, again considering the price. I was there with my teenage son and breakfast was barely an appetizer for him. One piece of toast, one egg, three tiny slices of peach in ricotta cheese, and a very tiny glass of juice. This is not the hearty breakfast I expected from a rural bed and breakfast charging $250 per night and there was no choice at all, nor were we offered any seconds. We had to stop at Dunkin Donuts on the way out. There were good restaurants in Millbrook though. We ate at a wonderful little find called Julien's Pizza, highly recommend it. I'd go back for that, but won't be staying here again.
- Claire (8/5): Very good -
- Frank (1/5): Bad -
- Delgrosso (10/5): Exceptional - Clean and confortable
- Colin (10/5): - Lots of character for the house. The bedroom was very beautiful like the picture. The owner was very nice and easily accessible.
- Sally (4/5): Avoid it if you can. - Location.
Very personable elderly couple running the place, once we got access. But, see following. We had indicated our arrival between 4-5 p.m. Bookings receipt showed this. When we arrived around 4:15,, the place was locked up. No one answered our knocking. After a few minutes, we drove a block away; decided to telephone the number shown on your receipt; got a voice mail. Instead of giving up and going on our way -- big mistake -- we stuck around another 20 minutes. Tried the telephone again. This time the proprietor (on a shopping trip away from the site,) answered. Told us his wife was in the house - probably had been watching TV and was unaware of our presence. A few minutes later, the wife, dressed in sweat pants and barefoot admitted us to the house. Both my wife and I have mobility issues. Nothing compared to the poor wife. She indicated our room at the top of a long stairway, but was unable to help carry our things, offering instead to have her husband help out. (We managed alone. Husband arrived 45 minutes later.) This is not a property appropriate for old folks,
And perhaps the proprietors might consider retiring.
The air conditioning in the room worked fine. Otherwise, the uncomfortable beds, absence of a chair, no mirror... What you told us we paid for was "a double room ... a private bathroom and...a seating area.:" The bathroom was in the hall outside our sparse bedroom. Lucky for us, there were no other guests. The bathroom was adequate, but the tiny mirror over the sink was hard to shave by.
Also, the house is home to cats. This should be advertised, for those allergic to felines. (I am.)
Finally, the breakfast was really bad: bananas in thick goo; overcooked boiled eggs on bread.
That we paid so much for so little is indeed a "disappointment." Bookings should delist that place.
- Declan (10/5): Such a pleasure to stay there. Thank you so much:) - Declan & Kerri - Amazing hosts, amazing property:)
- Calton (10/5): Fantastic - Don Carlo and his wife were amazing, every time we came back they were there with open arms and smiles . The history is fascinating
- Deborah (10/5): - Lovely spot and engaging hosts. The inn is bountiful with books, periodicals and Italian antiques from the owners family.
- Jim (10/5): - It was a very comfortable stay and the proximity to Millbrook was great. The proprietors very gracious.
- Wolfe (9/5): Lovely historic home on a beautiful property in the heart of Millbrook with great hosts - Everything was great. The hosts were warm and helpful. The room was great. Perfect for our anniversary weekend.
The breakfast was exceptional and served with charm. WiFi was weak and could have used a power strip for chargers.
- Clifford (9/5): Very nice B&B. We would stay again if we ever are in the area. Very nice host. - Very lovely house. Good breakfast. We had just one pillow per person. In the morning I did find another pillow in the closet
- Anne (10/5): Exceptional -
- George (8/5): Very good -
- Dana (10/5): - Giancarlo and Lorraine are wonderful hosts! This was my first experience staying at a B&B and it was a pleasurable experience. The cleanliness of the room and bathroom was unsurpassed. Breakfast was delicious every morning and its location being close to "down town" Millbrook for dining options was very convenient.
- Ruggero (10/5): A step into the 18th century. - A step into the 18th century. Beautiful Italian antique forniture and paintings. Gracious host. Delicious breakfast.
- Grigsby (10/5): I loved it. - The host and food were phenomenal and the place is just fabulous! I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. It was a little dusty but I do not detract at ALL as it was not at all an issue for me. It was not unclean in any way, just felt like staying in the home of a busy friend.
- Sanghyeon (10/5): Exceptional -
- Margaret (10/5): We had a lovely time here. Even one night made it clear why Giancarlo has guests returning year after year. - Beautiful, warm, historic…so much charm….you really felt embraced in someone’s home. Giancarlo was gracious and welcoming. Nothing we didn’t like
- Sireesha (9/5): Superb - Loved the breakfast There could
Be more access to plug points in the bedroom
- Betsy (8/5): It was fine - The house is very pretty. The bedrooms are stuffy, which made it difficult to sleep. Breakfast was just eh.
- Raymond (10/5): - Convenient to venues
- Peter (8/5): - This is a charming bed and breakfast and the perfect getaway if you're looking for a break from the big city.
The owner was very welcoming and nice. Although we had to run to a school function, the owner quickly made us a delicious breakfast and coffee.
- Laura (3/5): Disappointing - The location was convenient but not worth the below details. We were going to a concert nearby and could have stayed where we stayed last year. We left midway through the breakfast. It was not good. The entire place is downtrodden, it needs to be updated. Our bathroom was outside the bedroom, and didn't have any washcloths. Our beds were comfortable, but I never requested twin beds. The value for money is just not there. We could have stayed a few minutes away in another town, and we would have had a better experience.
- Cynthia (10/5): Exceptional -
- Eileen (10/5): - Delicious breakfast. Lovely decor.
- Amy (9/5): Superb -
- Susan (10/5): Exceptional -

- Christopher (10/5): Loved it! - Amazing host, beautiful house, delicious breakfast. Highly recommend it.
- Laurie (8/5): Very good -
- Roger (5/5): not terrible but didn’t feel we got good value for this property. Too expensive for these accommodations. - clean depends what you are looking for but it was old a creaky. Furniture was antique and had signs to be careful with it. Wasn’t comfortable. very small compared to other places we stayed on this trip.
- Ken (10/5): - It was a very nice stay. The host went out of his way to make sure you had everything you needed.
- Deborah (10/5): - Lovely hosts. Great beds! Beautiful home. Helpful hosts.
- diane (6/5): - Very clean but needs some minor renovations. The website said private bath but it was not ensuite. The breakfast was ok. Adequate but average.
- Margaret (7/5): Good -
- Margaret (8/5): B&B with many antiques - Above average B&B. Room good size. No TV at all, not even in common areas. Good internet so bring your tablet or laptop. Very nice breakfast, different every day.
- Elizabeth (9/5): Superb -
- Suzanne (9/5): Superb -
- Tom (8/5): - The house is an older house with all that goes with that condition, but maintained very well. The hosts, John and Lorraine, were very friendly and hospitable. The cost was a bit more than I would have liked, but my stay was during the peak season. Nice place, nice location and nice people.

- Verified traveler (10/5): - The innkeepers were so interesting to visit with. Also there was nothing but charm coming from the antique collection of furniture books and art. It was very cozy.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful little bnb. Owner is helpful and courteous. We had a lovely stay and a delicious breakfast.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - The host was amazing and made us excellent breakfasts, the room was very cute and clean. It was perfect place to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. The location is convenient for the millbrook winery ( which the host hooked us up with a free tasting), convenient to town and restaurants. You will not be disappointed.
- Shanti (10/5): Quiet perfection - Perfect quiet, comfortable retreat.
- Vinny (10/5): - What a great stay. Host GianCarlo was very warm and welcoming. Room was clean, bathroom was modern. Breakfast was delicious, and he even gave us basil from his garden while we were leaving! 10/10 would recommend!

- Verified traveler (10/5): - I had a wonderful visit. Thank you. The grounds are lovely, the innkeepers are kind, and the location is ideal. I will return.
- Patti (10/5): - Beautiful historic property with wonderful garden. Delicious breakfast and charming host.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Millbrook is a very charming place. Very old interesting books in the living room. Owners are super sweet and breakfast was wonderful. It was super quiet. The mattress was firm which my husband and I really love.
- MaryJane (10/5): - Had a wonderful stay and our host was was very hospitable.
- Barbie (10/5): - My husband and I had wonderful time,great hosts,great guest,great coffee!!!!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The innkeeper seemed overwhelmed. Coffee was not available when we wanted it in the morning. Then he told us that no decaffeinated coffee was available and the only coffee he had was 60/40, caffeinated, which satisfied neither the caffeine lover or myself. Breakfast was his choice, not what we wanted. Due to dietary constraints, we could not eat what he wanted to serve us. One of the people staying there had even emailed him her preferences and he did not provide what she could eat. The beds were not comfortable either. I would never recommend this place.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautifully decorated and kept, and breakfast was delicious! Definitely worth a stay. We would love to stay again.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect Place - Absolutely charming place with a very interesting, involved, couple who own the house. Each room is furnished with lovely period furniture, and art work. Lovely garden and yard. Delicious breakfast and wonderful variety of teas. Lorraine was eager to tell us of all the places we might enjoy in the area, and provided us with a list of restaurants. It was a perfect place for my friend and I to spend some quality time together.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very comfortable quiet and friendly B & B. Beautiful house.
- Geri (8/5): Italian renaissance in Duchess County - Bucolic farm house from 1800"s nestled in lovely Tiffany- esqu gardens. Exceptional breakfast served by the gracious Giancarlo.
- Verified traveler (10/5): review of Millbrook Country House - We had an enjoyable two-night stay at Millbrook Country House. The inn is filled with antiques and artwork, many of them from the owner, Gianncarlo's, native country of Italy. He and his wife were friendly and welcoming. breakfast was simple but tasty. We would definitely stay here again.
- Rosemarie (8/5): Millbrook - Owner was very friendly and accommodating. Breakfast was delicious.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful host and hostess. - Great to meet other guests. Fabulous breakfast. Very comfortable furnishings.
- Verified traveler (6/5): owner intruded with unpleasant conversation - The place was fine but we had an unpleasant experience at breakfast. A woman sat down at the table with no introduction. Eventually I inferred that she was the owner (her husband had been the one to greet us). We were having a pleasant conversation with the other guests, and then the owner took over the conversation, railing about everything that is wrong in society. It was unwelcome and unpleasant. The next day we went out for breakfast.
- Mary (10/5): A nice weekend - The owners were very organized and friendly and accommodating. I was in & out with work and did not make it back Sunday night and they called me to see if everything was ok. Breakfast was tasty and beautifully served and my bed was comfortable and fresh.
- Miriam (10/5): Friendly stay - Lovely room, friendly host, delicious breakfast, amazing sculpture in yard.
