Guest Reviews
- Tom (2/5): Oh my god what a shitt hole - The photos are not how it is. And you can only check in between 3-8 pm if they have bothered reading your message. When I got there and saw how they had lied too me. And it is worse than any hostel I have ever seen. I canceled my stay there as quickly as possible
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The manager 👍😊 is super friendly and the place is cool 😊
- Ian (6/5): - The place is fine - bedrooms are clean & comfortable, but the kitchen could use some sprucing up (specifically because the hot plate didn’t work). Also no mirrors in the bathrooms which is annoying and would be a pretty cheap and easy fix...
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very private and well kept. The owner/manager was friendly
- Bombay (4/5): - I booked 3 nights knowing checkin was outside normal reception hours due to late flight. Contacting hostel was not timely conversation and discovered they would not support my request but would meet me 2nd night to grant me entrance key. They did offer to cancel, which was good but i only needed first night cancelled.when i arrived 2nd night for the agreed key collection discovered lock hostel and when i phoned owner says they cancelled everything without my agreement and said there are plenty of other places ..just go look. Imagine being 2nd night in city without secure accomodation and under the assumption you were! Disappointed non repeater bnbto.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Photos showed different picture in reality its so bad i left and did not stay and have asked to cancel my stay all togther - this negatively affect expedia overLl buisness
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I hate your hotel because my booking was confirm but your employee say your booking not ok here
- Eri (10/5): - The staff were so nice and friendly!
The location is close to center of downtown!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - very nice!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Check in was quick and simple, and I liked that most things were within 20 mins walk. The bathroom is separate from the showers which is also nice. The place was fairly clean.
However, it was clear the place hadn't had a good scrub in a long time. The shower curtains were spotted with mold, the walls needed to be washed, and my room smelled very musty (i bought an air freshener which helped).
The bed was awful. It was all springs and sunk down easily. It was also incredibly noisy - along with all the doors that needed oiling. I didn't get much sleep, and I felt very sore come morning.
The hotel has wifi and provides toilet paper and hand soap in the washroom, but you need to bring shampoo, body wash, a towel, cloth, etc. There is a small variety store downstairs that may have what you need if you forget anything.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great!! ***** - I really liked staying here, it was very clean and quiet, affordable and a great location. Everything is beautifully renovated and very cozy. I will definitely stay here again.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Accurate. To the advertisement - Would be nice to have use of a fridge, kettle, or coffee maker. Location was perfect. Quiet building. Did find something more affordable, compared to the price of this room.
- David (6/5): If your going to stay one night only, it is okey. - There are a lot of noises outside the building, too many cars croassing the street, that makes hard to get some sleep.
- Verified traveler (2/5): its worth the money to find another place - The hotel was clean which is a plus. There is no sign outside so it was a bit hard to locate. Room was incredibly bright all night. The bed was terrible, I've had better nights sleep on a cement floor. Location was ok.
- peggy (6/5): Location good, close to college subway stop so eas - Called for key to check in, girl there within 10 minutes. Clean and fair price
Pub beer store and Thai food all 2-10 minutes from room
- David (4/5): Could have been excellent BUT .... - Positive points: the room was simple but very attractive. The shared bathroom and shower were very clean. Convenient location if you know Toronto well.
Negative points: no staff was on site at our scheduled arrival time. Sat on my bag outside of the building for 45 minutes - no one answered the provided contact number. The sheets on the bed had not been changed - there were hairs from previous travellers. The floor in the room had not been swept - old toenail clippings were easily found. The pillows and sheets smelled like stale smoke.
So this bnb reminded me of hotels when we backpacked in India, but it was way more expensive than Indian hotels.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Really basic - Really, really basic. Not enough comfort for the price. Bed and table in the room. That's all. Good location and clean.
- Michael (6/5): Inexpensive, functional, plain and simple lodging - Don't let the name bnbto fool you. This is essentially a hostel. Private bedroom with shared bathroom, shower, and kitchen. However, this place was clean and I felt secure in it since every room/bathroom/shower had a quality lock. I do want to emphasize that this place was clean and everything appears to be recently renovated, even if it looks like they got their materials from IKEA. Again, it's plain and simple, yet functional. This worked for me, but if you're looking for fancy, stay in a hotel.
This is the "no frills" version of a hotel. The room consisted of a bed (mediocre, but not necessarily uncomfortable), a bench for sitting, and a coat rack to hang a few things. There was heat in the room, but no A/C, and the temperature was not controllable, which is my only real complaint. I felt a little warm while sleeping, so ended up opening the window, but the window was small and it let in a lot of noise from the road and people (it's near a bus stop).
Other than that, we could definitely hear other people moving around, closing doors, using the shower, etc, but lucky for us that other guests were quiet and respectful. I gather that this is usually the case.
One final note is that this place is located in a cute neighborhood called Cabbagetown, which we loved. The local nightlife was excellent (gastro pubs, local restaurants, etc). The downside to this is that the location is a bit far from downtown. Parking in Toronto stinks, so rent bikes or get ready to walk a lot.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nope - Wouldn't do it. Get something better then here. You get what you pay for... And not even that.
- alice (8/5): Nice quiet place to stay - Staff where very friendly and helpful, beds where private & all round very clean!
