- robinmK2371HG (10/5): Phenomenal - We booked the VIP suite and it was even more beautiful in person. The room is so classy, well decorated and spacious, the two balconies are expansive and offer unbelievable views of the city, lush mountains and down the coast to Los Arcos. The service impeccable and the spa the very enjoyable and intimate for a couple. We only ate lunch which is available only for hotel guests, but have enjoyed many dinners at the Iguana in the past. People who reviewed the hotel negatively based on not getting their desired table when they are clear it’s first come first serve and only a request for the fine seats, seem to be unfair, the tables in the back towards the courtyard are also amazing. The people complaining about being charged extra after overstaying several hours after the regular check out time, and then thinking they could even shower, are beyond unreasonable. We were granted a one hour later check out, and respected that. They offered us use of the pool afterwards and stored our luggage for the day so we could enjoy the town. We also selected to do spa treatments afterwards so we could also show there. As there are only a few rooms which obviously need to be turned for new incoming guests. Clearly some people feel they are entitled that they could abuse a late check out kindly granted. Please don’t let those people and reviews dissuade you from staying here. It will not disappoint. It’s very luxurious abc romantic and high quality everything.

I had the pool to myself due to only a couple of other people staying on the entire hotel so I was only person using that pool . They brought me drinks and I felt like I was on the lap of luxury . I had breakfast deleovered to my room on the balcony . I never topped anyone because I tipped them all at check out . They were I beleive surprised to get great tips but I don’t like to be nicked and dined so I waited til the end to double tip and I’m sure they would love to have me again . The tub and weather was to die for . I stayed in the Katherine room . They owned the shutters for the breeze and I loved it

- Don (10/5): Amazing...this is a MUST STAY! - We really enjoyed our stay at the Case Kimberly. It felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The hotel consists of only 9 rooms, and it feels like you are stepping back in time and staying in the private residence of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor. It's quiet, spacious, clean, and uniquely decorated throughout. We had the best sleep here because the room felt more like living a very elegant home rather than a hotel, and the bed was ultra comfortable. We also really enjoyed spending time in the private pool area and having lunch before departing to the airport. The pool and sitting area is just below Richard Burton's room, was very relaxing. One could only imagine the many parties and stories that could be told from the movie stars who stayed here. It does get very busy in the evening in The Iguana restaurant which is open to the public, and it was nice to see everyone having a great time. We loved the artwork, wooden doors and wooden beam ceilings, and decor throughout. The food is excellent, and the staff are ultra friendly and go out of their way to make you feel comfortable and offer assistance. It's also a very short walk to downtown, the Church of Guadalupe and the Main Plaza that stretches along the beach...so all in all...a perfect place to stay for an enchanted experience.

Rude and arrogant staff. children feeling unwanted and drawn to tears just because the shoes wasn't in the stupid dress policy, however the children where dressed in evening jackets and attire according to a smart dress code. The hostess clearly could not be bothered to welcome us there. This was a birthday celebration with a group of people who traveled from Ireland and England to celebrate. Well it was there loss and our gain as we found somewhere much more accommodating and the food was incredible. I would absolutely not recommend this place at all totally not.!

- Solon-claire (2/5): Should have read the reviews and avoided - awful experience - Really should have read the reviews before going to this place. What an awful experience. The hostess was extremely rude. We arrived a little before our reservation time along with another couple, and were greeted by a sour faced and grim lady who seemed very put out that she had to deal with customers. She blocked our way up the stairs until we gave our name for the reservation (and seemed disappointed we actually had one). Had thought it might just be us, but watching others arrive she treated everyone with similar contempt. Witnessed a really heart breaking scene when she banned a child because he was wearing slider shoes (not flip flops or crocs as per dress code). He was all dressed up in a cute little jacket and was in tears leaving as their entire party was not allowed in. We should have taken the hint then and left ourselves as it didn't get better from there. This place only seems to be popular because of the movie star link - and age group of customers would support that theory. There are better ways of enjoying Liz Taylor than going to this utterly horrible restaurant.

Juanita Gutierrez Ocegueda - So, I just want to share an “experience”…..I won’t go into all the detail as it would end up an “essay”……I booked a table for dinner some months back at “Casa Kimberly”. We dined there last year and were captivated by the historical significance of the property. When I booked, I asked for a balcony side table if they could. They have a first come first seated policy, even if you make a reservation, however, I asked because, why not. Last week before we even arrived in PV, “on a whim” I booked a room to stay for the night, a surprise for my partner. I once again reached out about our dinner request and was told, no problem sir, you’re an in-house guest. They only have 9 rooms total. At check-in, another impulse, we upgraded to the “Liz Taylor” suite. Mind blowingly gorgeous & $,$$ but hey, the history. Once again confirmed my request for our dinning table. Once again, of course Sir. So we arrive 5mins early for our dinner to be shown the last table at the very back of the restaurant. Umm…..this did not sit well with me. To keep it short I went down and spoke with the GM of the place to be told, so what, you get what your given!! This 🤬 set me off my nut, I absolutely let this women have it in no uncertain terms……30 minutes later the host of the restaurant had a table, as asked, ready……the night was ruined, I was livid to have been treated with utter contempt by this obviously incompetent manager who could not of cared less….and, it’s not over yet. The rest of the staff and the service was wonderful throughout the whole stay. This one manager just ruined the whole experience. I am not sure I would ever go back and i certainly would not recommend this place to anyone ever again. So research after, should have done before….same GM mentioned in previous reviews by the way….. - APRIL (8/5): - Our 2nd stay at Casa Kimberly, and mostly good. The hotel manager is a delight and warmly welcomed us. We also dined at the hotel and the food and service was absolutely incredible! They have very specific guidelines about dress code, and it was lovely to sit in the gorgeous dining room, surrounded by beautiful people, impeccably dressed. Not a pair of Crocs in sight! We stayed in the Richard Burton room, and it was lovely, but could do with a few upgrades. The antique mirror above the sink in the bathroom needs to be replaced. Antiques are nice, but the mirror is blurry - replace the glass! Also, the shower needs additional towel hooks. Note that the shower floor was was verrrry slippery and some type of non slip tile needs to be installed for safety. Lastly, a nice bench at the foot of the bed would be appreciated, to have an additional place to sit. The room has a round table and two extremely heavy chairs which were not always easy to navigate. Overall a good stay. There was some confusion on our check-out day regarding check-out time. I'd just come out of the spa, and was very relaxed. Denise at the front desk told us we had 20 minutes to clear out of our room or be charged a fee. I thought that since I had a spa service they'd extend our check-out time. Needless to say, we hurriedly got our things together and departed, but it felt like we were shoved out the door.

Love the spa! Have always had pool to ourselves and even keep our floats and noodles on site for our return trip! Already looking forward to our next stay! They have even arranged van service pick up from airport for incoming family to transport to the Marriott-something that the Marriott would not do! Can’t give enough praise!

- Explorer827704 (2/5): Exorbitant Fees and Rude Management Spoil Departure at Casa Kimberly - My friend and I recently had a very disappointing experience at Casa Kimberly. We were granted a late checkout until 1 PM, but when we returned to our room at 1:15 PM to quickly shower before our long flight, we were shocked by the response. The General Manager, Juanita Gutierrez, who claimed to be the owner, demanded an additional $300 for just 15 minutes past our checkout time. Juanita was extremely inflexible and rude during our interaction. Despite our situation and the short duration we needed, she was adamant about the excessive fee. This behavior seemed more like a tactic to squeeze extra money from guests rather than genuine hotel management. Unfortunately, this incident has completely altered our view of Casa Kimberly, a place we once enjoyed. We strongly advise caution with this hotel’s management, especially for those who might face similar last-minute travel dilemmas. Denise was a wonderful concierge.
- alexhW5961NN (2/5): Poor Management and Exploitative Practices Ruin Stay at Casa Kimberly - Our recent stay at Casa Kimberly was utterly disappointing, and the unprofessional behavior of the General Manager, Juanita Gutierrez, who also claimed to be the owner, was the highlight of our dreadful experience. We requested a late checkout and were granted an extension until 1 PM. However, when we returned to our room at 1:04 PM, we were informed that we would have to pay over $300 (half rent) if we wanted to take a quick shower and grab our belongings. I informed her it would only be 10 minutes, but she was adamant. Juanita was extremely hostile and rude throughout the interaction. Her attitude was completely unwarranted and unprofessional. The staff, as always, were extremely friendly and accommodating. However, the management is absolutely awful. This experience appeared to be more of a money grab, as they would not even let us back into the room to retrieve our belongings. Sadly, due to this bizarre and unpleasant encounter, this will be the last time we stay at Casa Kimberly. We have enjoyed many stays here in the past, but this experience has overshadowed any positive memories we had. We cannot recommend this hotel to others under its current management.

A salt water swimming pool in the annex across the bridge. It's pricey but worth every cent. It is located away from the beach so we spent 3 nights there for our third time & then ent to a beach hotel.

- Eric (6/5): Beautiful hotel for one night. - The property is beautiful. The housekeeping staff is awesome. The restaurant staff are not very attentive. Dinner menu is limited and expensive. Had to get up from the table to order a second drink and the nightly noise from the restaurant and constant photo taking by dinner guests is annoying. the waiters tip themselves on your bill automatically so they don't care. The concierge actually watched me as I had to haul my luggage down the steps to cab. Actually, had to ask him to open the hotel door with my luggage in my hand. Service is limited and not what I would expect for the price. Nice for one or 2 nights but maybe no longer.

- donborsch (10/5): Fantastic Experience from Top to Bottom - Casa Kimberly is arguably the most luxurious hotel in the city, and somewhere I’ve always wanted to stay. From arrival I felt transported to another time. I'm naturally finding it hard to choose what I love most about this boutique hotel… So let's start here: It's the perfect location for exploring the city. The hotel has just nine rooms, and they are tastefully decorated. I stayed at the VIPs suite and I can confidently say that I've never stayed at a more grand and exquisite room in my life. Sunsets here are straight out of a movie set. The bed is incredibly comfortable and the towels are like absolute clouds. Aside from the rooms, the real standout here is the staff. They are so helpful and overall delightful. There are so many small touches, like Mexican candy, and turndown/tidying up while you're away. This special place exceeded my expectations in every single way. I cannot wait to come back to this jewel in the heart of Puerto Vallarta.

The 9 rooms are grand in size, well appointed , all seemingly with stunning views of Banderas Bay. The city center is just a few blocks down the hill. Beautiful swimming pool offering absolute privacy. The staff is knowledgeable and eager to assist. Let me mention the concierges, Denise and Oscar who help with all your needs. The highly regarded restaurant, Iguana, is open to guests only for lunch and breakfast. Dinner is open to the public. Have the concierge make a reservation because Iguana is a local favorite and highly desired for sunset dining. Sunday brunch is open to the public as well.

If you have not experienced Casa Kimberly and/or Iguana Restaurant (Burton's side of the experience) , make it/them a priority during your next visit to PV .

The service was distracted- our entrees arrived without being offered wine and we had to accost 2 passing waiters to ask for the list and then order a bottle whilst our food was in the table. 2 glasses of wine arrived (got the order wrong). The food was lukewarm at best and some elements were stone cold and ok but certainly nothing special. At no point did anyone ask if we were happy with the food, including when we were paying the bill. It all smacked of complacency which was enormously disappointing for a special occasion. Do go - the environment is truly beautiful but be prepared for average service & food.

I am happy to say we accomplished that goal last week. Sometimes, when we anticipate something so much, we are disappointed in the reality. Not so, with Casa Kimberly. They exceeded very expectation and then some. The service, both in the restaurant and the hotel, is not only impeccable but seamless. We were treated very well and were always warmly greeted and welcomed by all staff. No request was too much. It was a perfect stay for us and we're already planning a return.

That meal was one of the best I've ever had. They sat us at the best seat in the house and the food was divine. - 007rachr (10/5): Wow!! - I wasn’t sure about spending $1k a night to be off the beaten path…but I am so glad I did. The trip has been amazing. This stay is for explorers who enjoy luxury. If you do not enjoy walking, and have any physical ailments, then this property may not be for you. BUT, if you want to get out and explore and walk to some of the most amazingly quaint restaurants, galleries, and bars, then this place is for you. The staff is extremely attentive. When you call the front desk and if they don’t have it, they send someone to the store to get it. I asked them to book an e-bike tour that they had never heard of, so Ulysses went to the place himself to see if it was ok to send us there. Puerto Vallarta is one of those towns that you feel safe in…that’s hard to find these days. I enjoyed not running into a bunch of people all of the time, enjoyed eating breakfast on our expansive terrace, and I can’t think of much I haven’t enjoyed. I’m actually watching the sunrise as I type this. You won’t be disappointed…this is a vacation that I feel so Blessed to have been able to take. Thank you Casa Kimberly, we will be back!

- andrewoD7720OZ (10/5): Want to feel like Royalty? - I don’t usually take vacations - so I really wanted to have an experience I’d never forget. My stay at Casa Kimberly blew me away. Upon arrival, the concierge had all of our bags taken care of and sat us down for checkin. We were offered welcome margaritas which were absolutely tasty! Checkin was fast and easy. We got a quick tour around Casa Kimberly as well as an introduction to the history and significance of the building. We took the elevator to our room, and the concierge showed us around the room. Everything at the hotel has been recently renovated, while keeping the building’s authentic charm. There were so many details in the decor it was hard to keep moving and stop yourself from gazing at everything from the stone columns to the gorgeous metalwork. We stayed in the VIPs, which is a suite at the very top of the hotel. The only room I think that compares above this class of suite is the Elizabeth Taylor room, which while currently under construction, features a private swimming pool and terrace. The VIP suite still included a private outdoor terrace, an outdoor jacuzzi, a comfortable king size bed, a huge shower, a television, and the finest of furniture and decorations. It honestly felt like a dream The VIPs suite has a gorgeous view of Old Town Puerto Vallarta, the bay, and PV’s beautiful sunsets. Golden hour here is definitely something everyone should have on their bucket list Finally, the food and hospitality is top tier. The hotel features a restaría t open to the Publix for dinner. It’s very busy, and for good reason - The food is some of the best I have ever tasted. Everything was PERFECT. We also had food delivered many times to our door. The morning breakfasts on our balcony were spectacular, and the private dinner service was an absolute treat. The hotel only has about a half dozen rooms - so every guest is given as much attention as they desire. During the day time, private breakfast and lunch service is offered. The bar at the restaurant also offers a huge variety of expertly crafted drinks and a large variety of wines and tequilas for tasting. Thanks to everyone at CK that made me feel so special on my vacation to Mexico. I will definitely be back

The location just up the hill from the ocean was ideal for walking around, discovering great restaurants and shops, and enjoying the historic town. It’s a 10 minute walk from all the tourist action and nightlife. The hotel is beautifully maintained and it was a pleasure to come back in every evening. We will definitely come back.

- bobp980 (10/5): Best food in PV and the surroundings are just as good - As you walk up the stairs to Restaurant Iguana at Casa Kimberly, you will be startled to see Elizabeth Taylor staring at you...upon closer inspection, you will see that what appeared at first as an immense photo is really an oil painting. Iguana is on the second floor of Casa Kimberly, the love nest given to Taylor by her lover, and future husband, Richard Burton, as a birthday present while he was in P.V. filming 'The Night of the Iguana." The multi-storied building has nine bedrooms for those lucky enough to have deep, deep pockets. Iguana is open at lunch only for residents of Casa Kimberly, but the dining room is open for the public for dinner. Make a reservation because the cuisine is world class. Ask for a window seat, but don't be put off if one is not available. The food does not need a distraction. My party started with Coconut margaritas...try one...really, really good. My wife had Mahi Mahi which was perfect. I had Chile rellenos, a standard dish most good Mexican restaurants...but this preparation was a revelation. Two Chiles, both in a separate, pastry-like batter. I used no knife. A fork cut through the pastry and the Chile so easily I was surprised. Best Chile Rellenno of my life. Trust me. Our two friends also remarked that their entrees were wonderful. This is the place for your special dinner or romantic treat. You won't be disappointed.

The room was spectacular and decorated so glamorously. We wanted to spend as much time as possible in it. The pool, which was right across the famous bridge was very charming and added to the old Hollywood fantasy. We opted for the tequila tasting before dinner and it was very interesting and informative. To end the night off, we chose to dine at the restaurant there and it exceeded our expectations since we had a delicious and romantic meal. Certainly one of the best meals in PV. It was such a delight to stay in such a beautiful hotel and be treated so well by the staff. I would absolutely recommend a stay here if you are looking for something unique and romantic. Can’t say enough good things about this property!

It was nothing short of spectacular, with a wrap-around terrace featuring a jacuzzi and multiple sitting areas, a beautiful bed and other antique furnishings, and breathtaking views of the city, mountains, and ocean. The hotel itself was immaculate and elegant, with warm and personalized service. This is a property truly befitting the legacy of the real VIPs who used to live here. If you want to be pampered--or if you just want a taste of old Hollywood glamor and luxury, not to mention colonial Mexican charm and romance--this is the place to do it.
- claudia (10/5): Feel like a Star in a bygone era. - This was an amazing, 9 room boutique hotel. The history of the place is interesting. Richard Burton bought the house for Elizabeth Taylor. He owned a casita across the street and a bridge was built to connect the houses and each other. (Quite romantic) Today the hotel includes both structures as well as a first class restaurant. The decor throughout is elegant and beautiful. (If you like contemporary grays and bland decors go elsewhere.) Each room can be very different from another. Choose carefully to get what you want. We had a fabulous balcony that looked out over the ocean, the river through town, and a hillside of the city (gorgeous with lights at night). Not all rooms have that view yet at the public space in the pool lounge area everyone could enjoy that view. The hotel is up a few blocks of cobbled streets from the ocean if mobility is an issue for you but Puerto Vallarta has plentiful and affordable taxi services. This hotel was a special treat!

We can’t wait to come back and stay here again.

- D.M. (10/5): Personalized Luxury - My wife and I celebrated her birthday here and lapped up the luxury surroundings and personal attention from the concierges. She took advantage of the on-site spa and the concierge organized taxis and sightseeing for us. Our room was large and comfortable and because the hotel doesn't have many rooms we enjoyed spaces like the lobby and the poolside almost to ourselves a lot of the time. The Iguana restaurant is excellent and draws a lot of people so the hotel is lively in the evenings, which we liked. There was also a good Sunday brunch. The house is large and uncluttered.
