Wir haben uns trotz 2 kleiner Kinder überall willkommen und gut aufgehoben gefühlt, auch wenn die Kinderangebote erst mitte Juni durchstarten und es dann noch viel angenehmer gewesen wäre. Gratis Fahrradverleih mit Kindersitzen. Der beheizte Pool für die Kinder war grandios und der grosse Pool auch schon zum Baden geeignet Ende April! Das Lunchservice am Pool ist toll. Das Abendessen war für uns mit Beginn 19:30 schon sehr herausfordernd, da die Kids das nicht gewöhnt sind. Es hat sich dann aber eingespielt. Leider gab es zu den Fahrrädern keine Helme zu mieten, da hätten wir früher recherchieren müssen und unsere mitbringen sollen. Leider war der Spielplatz noch nicht aufgebaut und es gab im Hotelinneren keinen Bereich, wo die Kinder spielen können.

- TeresaC989 (6/5): Average hotel - We've just spent 10 nights in this hotel. The breakfast food was far from fresh. The scrambled egg was burnt most days or soggy other days. Tinned fruit and pastries that tasted like they were left over from the previous day. The evening buffet was so bad that the amount of food left over on plates was shocking. There was no lunch available when we enquired even though we were told it was available, The pool was so cold it was empty thd whole time. Around the pool area there was ants everywhere. The room air conditioner was not set individually and it was so hot at night we were unable to sleep. We were advised to leave the window open,in which we done. The next morning both of us were covered in mosquito bites. The last day we were there ,we had no hot water at all. We did complain to management and we received a small discount off our bill. I would not recommend this hotel af all. It is not a 4 star hotel by no means.
- Christian (6/5): „Grand Hotel“ steht für großes Hotel. Sauber und gepflegt ohne persönliche Note. - Santa Maria al Bagno ist ein sehr schöner Ort. Das Hotel ist gut gelegen. Insgesamt ist es sauber. Das Hotel ist sehr groß und auf Gruppenreisen ausgerichtet. Das Ambiente ist modern aber auch unpersönlich (keine Bilder an den Wänden). Die Zimmer sind eher dunkel (Tageslicht kommt nur durch die schmale Balkontür). Außenpool ist nicht beheizt (gefühlte 12 Grad Celsius). Der beheizte Pool ist ein Kinderbecken mit Algenbesatz). Wenn man beim Frühstück spät dran ist, ist die Auswahl noch übersichtlicher als eh schon. Abendessen im Hotel ist ein „Schnelldurchlauf“ mit mittlerer Qualität.

Lovely restaurants in Santa Maria Al Bagno and the promenade walk to Santa Caterina was lovely too. Breakfast is not good…tinned fruit, burnt scrambled eggs and some mornings there was a real lack of pastries - not really acceptable at a 4 star. It’s like the food was sometimes left out for day two if it wasn’t finished the previous morning. Spa is fairly poor and small. Good location though but you need a car to travel around and it’s paid parking at €10/day.
- 794c_dricm (8/5): Nice hotel in a charming Italian seaside resort town - Nice 4-star hotel perfectly located next to the sea in a lovely little seaside resort town, not far from Gallipoli. Rooms are clean and functional. The breakfast buffet is good, there is a pool and a small private beach (but no sand) just across the street. The parking lot in the back is perfect, the reception staff was very nice and professional, housekeeping and breakfast team as well. Bartenders maybe a little less so though, and as I always dined outside, I couldn't rate the restaurant.

Rooms are clean and functional. The breakfast buffet is good, there is a pool and a small private beach (but no sand) just across the street. The parking lot in the back is perfect, the reception staff was very nice and professional, housekeeping and breakfast team as well. Bartenders' hospitality is maybe not as good as the rest of the staff. It's a shame because having a drink on their little terrace with the view could be nice, and also an asset for the hotel.

- Justine (8/5): A lovely relaxing stay at the end of our busy sightseeing trip. - Great location overlooking the sea, with an easy walk to the beach & several great restaurants. The basic rooms are pleasant but have no external space to sit outside. They have rubbish views of the internal parts of the hotel & ours was on walkway to car park so couldn’t even leave the curtains open to get day light with people walking past. The reception staff were amazing, very friendly & helpful, the bar & waiting staff not quite so.

- marionn384 (8/5): Good base - a few changes would make this place superb - Good in parts Stayed here with a group of travellers from a Great Rail Journey tour. First impression, the sea front setting is quite stunning. The rooms are bright and have various outlooks, some have sea views, others no view. The balconies are on the small side. Although bright, there is limited artificial light when it comes to the evening and I could only use one power point for charging various appliances. The breakfast buffet provided a good choice, but the dinners were less impressive. The anti pasta - three items served on the same plate, not ideal if the choice wasn’t to your taste, there was a choice on the second and third course, although portions on the main course tended to be small with a lack of vegetables. Dessert was buffet style with quite a good choice. With a number of large groups the dining room could be a little noisy in the evening.
- boosteruk (10/5): Refreshing Level of Customer Service by all staff members. - I cant really add anything to the reviews which are marked Good or Excellent. Its a long time since i have felt such service by every single member of staff, most places have one bad apple but defiantly not this place. i am sat here writing this trying to remember one bad thing but i cant. The only poor thing i could say was the parking on site was a bit expensive i have had to dig deep to think of that negative. I would defiantly go back and regret i only stayed 4 days and not the full 7 days i was in Italy.

- Ewa Grześkiewicz (8/5): bardzo dobry - widok z pokoju oraz z z basenu, dobry standard pokoju , ok śniadania miejsce przy barze praktycznie tylko w środku i mało intymne bo praktycznie w przejściu , brak możliwości wieczornego posiedzenia przy barze na zewnątrz(jest kilka stolików, ale przy samym wejściu do hotelu , więc nie wiadomo jaką mają rolę -poczekalni?) , nie są więc komfortowe na wieczorne posiedzenie. Natomiast część zewnętrzna ze stolikami od strony basenu była nieczynna (mało ludzi?). Rozwiązaniem byłoby otwarcie wieczorem zewnętrznej części restauracji od strony morza i stworzenie tam przyjaznego miejsca z odpowiednim oświetleniem na wieczorne posiedzenie "przy barze"

Situé au bord de la mer, entre les 2 petits villages de Santa Caterina et San Maria al Bagno accessibles à pied. Le personnel au petit soin toujours souriant pour la plupart du personnel parlant français. Un petit spa bien agréable, les massages du corp sont bien relaxants, hôtel idéalement situé pour visiter le sud des Pouilles, se promener à pieds ou à vélo. La plage de sable fin que propose l’hôtel est très jolie, navette gratuite. Une voiture reste indispensable dans les Pouilles. A la piscine c'était difficile de trouver des transats disponibles quand c'est fermé côté mer

- Bernie (9/5): A relaxing and recharging holiday - Location was fabulous, quite yet near the village beautiful view of the sea . Access to sea from hotel snorkelling was wonderful. Breakfast was lovely , but we feel a self service coffee /tea dock is really necessary.
- Roel (8/5): - Dat er een strand was De kamer was vochtig en keek uit op een rots. Het zwembad was enigzins verouderd. Aan het zwembad golden strenge regels, de ligbedjes en parasols mochten niet verschoven worden, en moesten allemaal in een lijn met de overige bedjes en parasols staan, zodat we op een gegeven moment toch vol in de zon lagen. De badmeester was erg onvriendelijk en erg streng hierin!
- Alessandro (10/5): - Prima volta in Puglia , il mare era bellissimo. Hotel era meraviglioso. È stato un soggiorno bellissimo, ci siamo trovati benissimo. Personale gentilissimo e sempre a disposizione ( un grazie speciale alla Signora Anna delle reception ). Il ristorante ha un servizio stellato, cibo sempre curato nel dettaglio e buonissimo ( grande buffet di antipasti e dolci ) . Una sera hanno organizzato la cena sotto le stelle , è stato molto suggestivo. La piscina è immersa in una bellissima pineta con vari punti di relax. Grande parcheggio all'interno. Hotel dispone di una piattaforma su gli scogli di fronte molto comoda con ombrelloni e lettini. Tornerò sicuramente, già consigliato ad amici.
- P4661ELkellyb (4/5): Grand Hotel Riviera, Santa Maria al Bagno - We stayed for ten nights at the Grand Hotel Riviera in July. On arrival we were told that we had one of the best rooms in the hotel and it was spacious with a view of the sea. The positives for the hotel were the attentive staff, the cleanliness, and the beautiful tiled floors! We were very disappointed with the pool area which definitely needs an upgrade and didn't feel as clean as everywhere else. The boarded area on the rocks is fine but be aware that getting in and out of the sea is tricky with lots of rocks to clamber over. The sea was quite rough during our stay which meant either the red flag was up or it was even more hazardous getting in and out. There is a lifeguard . Another disappointment was the bar area which is in the foyer of the hotel with a few chairs on the patioed terrace at the front overlooking the busy road. We were half board and there is only one restaurant so dinner is served in the same place as breakfast. We were expecting fresh melon, pineapple etc but there was only tinned fruit although a melon platter was available to buy on the menu. There was fresh juice. Apart from that breakfast was sweet pastries, sliced bread and some continental hams etc. Dinner was often strange, a few good dishes but not many. There is a barbeque once a week on a terraced area near the pool which the staff work really hard at but the food was really poor which seems a shame. The area is very quiet, there are some bars/restaurants around a 15/25 minute walk away both left and right out of the hotel. We would advise hiring a car, there is a local car hire place but enquire before you go as we couldn't get one for 5 days. We visited Lecce and Gallipoli which were interesting but we weren't impressed with any of the beach areas that we visited. Overall very quiet area, would advise a short stay, hire a car and definitely shoes for the sea.

La ubicacion frente al mar es muy buena y el lido propio que tiene en frente, sobre el mar (decks de madera con reposeras, sombrillas y mesitas) hermoso. Tambien la cena especial en la terraza !!! Y por ultimo destacar que el director del hotel (me gustaria recordar su nombre) se acerco a darnos la bienvenida cuando llegamos y en la cena de la terraza tambien fue muy cordial y amable !! Excelente desayuno tambien con vista al mar !! Excelente todo !!! Irme !!

- chrisdE3906PL (10/5): Simply wonderful - Another wonderful stay at the Grand Hotel Riviera!! There are many reasons we keep returning to this gem on the peninsula; location, friendly staff, attention to detail, good food, facilties, value for money etc but the best reason to return time after time is that guaranteed feeling of life's stresses melting away like the ice cube in that first cocktail on the terrace. Part of me wants to stay quiet and keep this haven of serenity a secret but the staff and management deserve every credit for the atmosphere they generate and the truly memorable experiences they create for guests. Thank you for a great 2025...see you again in 2026!!

- Henri (10/5): C'était extraordinaire ! - Nous avons passé un séjour fantastique dans cet hôtel, le personnel de la réception, restaurant, piscine, plage et ménage sont tous adorables et d'une gentillesse incroyable, je n'ai jamais vu ça ! On avait toujours réponse à nos questions et était servi comme des rois ! Les femmes de ménage pouvaient passer 2 ou 3 fois dans la journée juste pour nous changer le tapis de bain, l hôtel est très beau et très très propre ! La restauration digne d'un restaurant gastronomique plusieurs choix dans le menu, soirée avec chanteurs et dîner sur la terrasse de la piscine avec un groupe de musiciens C'était mémorable ! Je mettrai même une étoile en plus pour la gentillesse du personnel, les extérieurs piscine et plage ainsi que les prestations. On y retournera les yeux fermés, merci énormément ! Juste un petit détail, une petite musique d ambiance à la plage ou la piscine et ça serait parfait 😉 dommage aussi qu il n'y a pas de magasins de souvenirs ou de marché du soir.
- Becky (10/5): An amazing chilled hotel with great facilities and super lovely staff - The private beach set up is ideal, we cycled (free bike hire from the hotel) to another beach to check it out and it was so busy we cycled straight back again to our beach. We seemed to be the only hotel around with this private beach situation and others were either sitting on the uncomfortable rocks or at the crowded sandy beach. The pool is decent and it wasn’t overly busy even though it was the summer holidays, staff are really helpful and friendly as well. Drinks are good too. Because we stayed for 5 nights we got a spa experience for free which was a nice touch although the beach and the pool area are so nice and the weather was excellent we didn’t really need to do this. The location is really great, you can walk to loads of restaurants and I have no complaints about the hotel whatsoever. The only thing to note is about the area in general. We were expecting really amazing wine and food at the local restaurants but it doesn’t really seem to be the right area if this is what you’re after. The food was decent it just wasn’t what we expected and we just thought naively the wine would be incredible. I think based on others I’ve spoken to, Puglia doesn’t have the best food or the best wine compared to other areas of Italy. Not sure if this is factually correct but this was just our experience.

Really clean and staff from cleaning ladies to management very friendly and helpful. Very traditional Italian town short walk from hotel one side and another short walk to a lovely little marina the other side. Lovely bars cafes and restaurants.
