- Sandra (10/5): Lovely hotel with excellent facilities - Elegant hotel in a central location.
Spacious room and well equipped bathroom with complimentary bath robes.
Excellent facilities including indoor swimming pool, sauna, hot tub and steam room.
Had dinner in the Brasserie which had a nice atmosphere, great service and excellent food.
Excellent breakfast choices served in a lovely dining room The layout is like a maize and there needs to be more signs directing guests to the key areas I.e. reception, breakfast room, brasserie & spa
- Stefan (10/5): - Klassisch englisch mit viel Liebe zum Detail

- Benjamin (10/5): - Our room with the balcony and sea view .
- Moya (6/5): The balcony saved the day. We had the most spectacular sunset. - Location and having a sea view balcony Our room was so small! For £230 for one night, room only, it was borderline unacceptable.
- Georgina (10/5): A wonderful treat! - Beautiful building, lovely pool The cost of the breakfast. Could have been a lot more fresh fruit for that price
- David (10/5): - Very clean
- Nicholas (10/5): -
- Susie (7/5): - Great location and room was nice Some rooms quite dated - we asked to change which was a vast improvement .
- Nia (10/5): - The location, rooms, staff and facilities were excellent.
- Alan (9/5): Terrific hotel. - Fascinating hotel, wonderful period features but with modern spa complex.
Superb position overlooking the gardens and the beach. Staff were perfect. We had stormy weather!

- null (10/5): great would highly recommend. - Delicious breakfast, cooked to perfection. Jonathon was so lovely. Bed was really comfortable. Hotel was very clean for an old building. All staff very friendly and helpful. pool was spot on, didn't use outdoor one but had a look- very nice. didn't have a view of the sea, but still wasn't the worse view we've ever had and you get what you pay for.
- Peter (10/5): -
- Terry (10/5): Wondrous Woolacombe Bay. - The location, with a wondrous panorama, was magical. The hotel had a glorious ambience and the room was perfect.
10 out of 10 all around. Absolutely nothing. Although the price of a breakfast was a little out of my price range.

- Sharon (10/5): -
- John Williams (10/5): - Everything about the hotel was excellent. Polite and helpful staff. Wonderful views fercilits were great.
- Sally (7/5): Overall had a lovely stay .Beware that booking through booking .com is very expensive for room only - Loved the building and the gents clothing.very smart and in keeping with the period.nice to have the pool and spa facilities. Room was small .decor far too modern for the building.more like a travel lodge decor.poor choice in restaurant so we ate elsewhere.
- Jonathan (8/5): - Great location and range of facilities A 4pm check in timeline is ridiculous
The room service options and quality was poor
- Lisa (9/5): -
- Steve (8/5): -
- Mick (8/5): Excellent stay only spoiled this morning on discovery of overcharge - Everything although bar staff were very sullen Overcharged for massage by £8. Only realised this morning
- Mike (10/5): Great hotel, great facilities, super courteous staff - Fantastic location, great facilities, beautiful view of the sea.
- Joe (10/5): -
- Paul (8/5): - Staff, location, room. Bathroom shower poorly designed for purpose. great shower, but water went everywhere due to poor design.
That shouldn't bother me as its not my property, but just poor design for purpose really.
- Angela (10/5): Amazing! - Location and facilities were stunning Nothing - everything was great!
- Angharad (10/5): Beautiful stay. - Beautiful hotel Had to pay for cinema - feel that should be included considering the price!
- Christuna (9/5): -

- Tanya (9/5): We really enjoyed our stay, particularly due to the great staff and outdoor areas. - Charming hotel with great facilities; comfortable bed; room very clean; lovely pool area, excellent location and parking.
Really great friendly and professional staff. Nothing was too much trouble.
Wonderful dinner in the hotel restaurant; lovely quality of ingredients, taste and menu variety.
Would definitely come back and wished we could stay longer. A little bit hot in the room and cooking smells from the kitchen filled it because we needed to keep windows open for the fresh air. But it's an old place, so you can't have it all.
On behalf of the staff: They looked really smart in their classic uniforms, however we really felt for them, particularly in this very hot weather. The uniforms looked extremely uncomfortable, restrictive and totally unsuitable for efficiency of carrying out cleaning jobs and for the hot climate. They did not mention this to us - it is our observation.
- Sue (9/5): Superb -
- Barrie (10/5): Perfect - Best hotel I have ever stayed at
- Jane (9/5): A luxurious and historic hotel with all the mod cons. - This is a lovely Victorian era hotel with all the most luxurious mod cons! The outside pool was very warm (although a little too shallow to actually swim), there are two tennis courts, a massive lawn with a path down to the beach, two comfortable lounges, a brasserie restaurant as well as a gym and indoor pool. I got a little lost getting back to my room as the hotel is so huge and the layout is very complicated!
- Annette (9/5): A short relaxing break - The bedroom was spacious and clean. Bed comfy with a choice of pillows. The shower was nice and hot and the body and hair washes smelled lovely. The view from our room was, as promised, of the sea. It was close to the beach however the outdoor and indoor pools were not busy and there were plenty of reclining seats fit the time of year. Parking was no problem . The staff were very friendly and efficient. Continental breakfast was great after we had clarified the extra cost. It was a lovely quirky building with plenty of relaxing areas. I used the Spa and had a lovely massage. There was some confusion over breakfast costs. £25 each for breakfast was very steep and the reception staff didn't know about the reduced price for the continental choice which was £16. We went out to a local cafe for breakfast but once we queried with the restaurant manager Jonathan we then had continental breakfast at the hotel which was amazing and fresh and enough for us.
The fridge in our room was spasmodically noisy during the night so we switched it off.
- Sandra (8/5): Very good -
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional -
- Tracey (9/5): Superb -
- Samantha (9/5): Relaxing break - We booked the sea view with a balcony with absolutely wonderful views over the pool and the beach. Sunset amazing. We were V lucky with the weather being so good we spent a lot of time by the outside pool. Sunbeds v comfortable with shade. Gym also classes and spa v good
Short walk to the beach which is sandy and has on the beach refreshments and facilities at the entrance.
Shops cafe bars within a short walk from hotel or nice coastal walks. Our room was modern and interesting decor, the bathroom is new and spotlessly clean the whole hotel was! Beds comfy only issue was the drawers are flat to the floor not on legs. Dinner was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. Around the pool area no refreshments you have to dress and go over to the indoor bar and order drinks. For this type of hotel it does need either a poolside bar or staff coming round maybe at a set time to offer. Or a telephone or ordering pad. Then brought over. No menu displayed many guests asked us about drinks.
On booking there are Options to have RO or add on breakfast I was surprised as the price of the room it should be included.
£25pp £15 pchild is excessive.
The only other thing we didn't like was having to leave 😁
- Julian (8/5): Very good -
- Pick (10/5): Exceptional - The staff and facilities of the hotel and spa were amazing, very friendly. Helped with luggage, kept the room made up every day. The evening restaurant was a bit of a letdown. The staff were not as friendly as the hotel staff and the food wasn't the best in the area, but it was the most expensive.
- Surjit (10/5): Lovely hotel and great tram delivering a perfect experience. - Great hotel and the loveliest of staff. Made to feel so welcome. Can’t fault the hotel, everything was lovely.
- Rebecca (10/5): Glamorous hotel in a lovely location - Beautiful and glamorous, ideally situated on the Coast Path (if, like me, you are walking the route) in lovely private gardens. There is everything you’d want - swimming pool, spa, cinema, bar…
The staff were great - the lady on reception was so helpful. You’ve got to understand that this is an expensive hotel - my room had no sea view and a little bit of noise from the air conditioning at the back. But I chose that and wanted the location and pool!
Oh, and no breakfast. This cost £25 but was worth paying for!
So bear that in mind and balance it all up.
- Anne (8/5): Fine. - A beautiful hotel with wonderful views. Very comfortable. Didn't sleep well due to loud extractor fan outside window. View of flat roof from our room not great but this would not put us off from staying again. Would ask for a sea view next time!!! Just stayed for one night but would have requested a move if any longer.
- Francis (10/5): Exceptional - Everything. Wish we could have stayed longer.
- Daren (10/5): Just absolutely excellent from arrival to departure - The facilities, the room, the view, friendly staff Nothing
- Adrian (9/5): Superb -
- James (10/5): Really great stay. Will be back - Great hotel with a fantastic gym and spa.
- Roger (9/5): Superb - Great location and lovely old buildibg Price for a small back room was a bit stiff - £200/night. We were walking and there was very little accommodation choice in woolacombe
- Alisdair (9/5): Welcoming, clean, tidy, stylish, great facilities, well located… and all at a very reasonable price! - This is a very classy hotel for the price you pay. Staff are extremely welcoming on arrival, the rooms are modern and clean, the spa facilities are great and the building is very well maintained and classically decorated (almost has a 1920’s theme - very well executed) and gives the place a cool vibe! Literally the only thing we could even mildly identify as a complaint was the lack of herbal teas in the room (partner is vegan) but I’m sure they would have supplied oat milk or similar if asked. They had a great range of vegan foods in the restaurant.
Yes, that’s right, if that’s all we can complain about, it’s got to be pretty damn good right?
- Joe (8/5): Very good -
- Robert (7/5): Nice and cozy and room service great - Cozy N/a
- Ronnie (8/5): very comfy bed shame hotel was expensive - we didnt have the breakfast, much to expensive, which was a shame, and thought there would have been slippers to match robes in bathroom I also thought for the price we would have had a balcony
- Flavy (9/5): Great hotel in a great location. - Great location, accommodation and staff. A very warm welcome from the moment we entered the car park. Gardens very well maintained. Great staff. Would have rated a 10 were it not for the pricey breakfast and the 'fusty' kale served in the Brasserie. Those two small things aside, a great stay and the weather was on our side. As above. Fusty tasting kale and pricey breakfast.
- Stewart (10/5): Exceptional -
- Krishna (9/5): Superb -
- Nicola (10/5): Watching the sun set over the beach whilst lead in bed - Great location, clean rooms with a lovely view of the beach
- Steve (9/5): Superb -
- Martyn (5/5): Could have been lovely but just didn’t deliver an experience. - The location is fab and the heritage building is beautiful. Facilities are good for those wanting Spa etc. The front of house team were not engaging towards customers in fact I’d say they are indifferent at best, based upon our experience. We appreciate costs associated with running such a hotel are high but training the people who represent your business with the customers is critical and we’d urge you to focus some resources in this area. We left feeling that we’d had poor service and therefore poor value for money.
- Steven (8/5): Very good -
- Knight (10/5): Exceptional -
- Max (9/5): Superb -
- Lee (9/5): Really enjoyed it and would happily stay again! - Location was amazing
Hotel was clean and tidy, staff were great Some of the rooms are slightly noisy
- Chris (9/5): Superb - Lovely location and view - great staff Would be good to have an armchair or two in the room
- Stuart (9/5): Superb - Great hotel in a wonderful location, only issue the breakfast at £25 per head is too expensive
- Paul (7/5): Good - Room great, sea views, friendly staff. Location Cold environment in the Spa.
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Nicky (9/5): Relaxing, Luxurious, special - Location is amazing and the hotel is beautiful.
- Alpen (10/5): The best hotel I’ve stayed in - Incredible location right next to the beach with amazing views. Lots of amenities - cinema, gym, spa, pool!
The place was spotless, the staff were so attentive and friendly. The service was brilliant. The breakfast was huge and tasty
- Nick (10/5): Exceptional -
- Richard (6/5): Nice but expensive. - Good sea view. Nice breakfast room and restaurant. Attentive staff. Room cleaned daily. Nice having cinema on complex showing latest films and in comfortable seats (sofa for two). Room advertised as balcony and sea view. There was a sea view but concrete balcony virtually obstructed it. No cushions on outdoor seating. Breakfast and restaurant was very expensive and overcharged on final bill (partial refund made due to error.) Outside area would benefit from night lighting. There was a fob on key ring for opening outdoor beach access but this was not explained to us on checking in.
- Richard (8/5): Very good -
- Mary (7/5): Pleasant but not outstanding. - The location is amazing and the views from our bedroom. The meal in the evening was very pleasant and good value for money. I really don’t like having to pay for breakfast when you are charging £200 a night for a room. I don’t know of any hotels that do this.
I can see the hotel has been redecorated since I was last there. However, the choice of wallpaper in the reception rooms was too heavy. It was more like an Indian restaurant.
In our bathroom the assess ability of getting in and out of the bath was poor. It would have been a struggle and nowhere to put your own toiletries!! It was all very cramped
- Richard (9/5): Superb -
- Jim (10/5): Woolacombe Bay hotel - Such amazing staff ,location tidy clean just an amazing stay,my partner left her boots they're posting them on to her ,just such a great hotel .
We couldn't get food in the town in the evening and hotel restaurant was fully booked but them feed us in the bar area which was most kind
- Amber (10/5): All in good but we didn’t like the design with all the random faces on furniture. Very uncomfortable. - It was clean and I loved the balcony and the ocean view. Massage was good. I didn’t like all the faces in the room on the wardrobe and walls. Horrible design and me and my partner felt a bit uncomfortable with all those faces in pictures and wardrobe, so that’s a reason we aren’t staying here again.
- Gideon (10/5): Exceptional - Pool
- Christine (10/5): A
Modern day 'Overlook' without he murdering! - It has retained its beautiful old style decor , with the modern additions fitting so well. Breakfast is really expensive! We stayed at a the Qatar World Cup teams's hotel, and that was the same price!
- Paul (10/5): Top-notch stay, 100% recommendation. Will definitely come back. - Great weekend stay, celebrating a big birthday for my wife. Super comfy room with a balcony and sea view. We could actually see the sea from our bed, which was amazing. Good food - including a chocolate birthday cake which I'd pre-ordered. It was so large we were still eating it three days later! Breakfast was also excellent and so large that on the second day we cut back a little!
This was actually our second stay at the Woolacombe Bay Hotel and we were just as impressed as our first visit. The hotel's spa facilities are very good and we love the little 30-seat cinema. It's so special! And the staff are top-notch, with a wonderfully helpful attitude. One of the staff actually remembered us from the previous year, which was an unexpected - and nice - surprise. The hotel's indoor and outdoor swimming pools are rather shallow. Consequently it's difficult to swim an entire length and you have to swim widths instead. In addition the Jacuzzi in the spa is tricky to get in and out of, especially if you are little older.
- Anita (10/5): Brilliant, going back - Charming hotel, lovely and super friendly staff, really spacious place with lovely grounds and the beach is walking distance. Maybe more toiletries but its a small detail as I could have phoned and asked but I was not organised enough to do that
- Mike (10/5): A very nice couple of days away. - Good quality breakfast and dinner Nothing much comes to mind
- Phil (9/5): Great weekend for a party of 10, staff are great as was the food. Facilities excellent and location great too, thanks fo - Location and facilities Not wheelchair friendly but its a Victorian hotel so completely understandable
- Mark (10/5): Exceptional - Location
- Melanie (10/5): Exceptional - Everything and everyone, beautiful hotel Nothing
- Sharon (7/5): Four day relaxing break on the coast. - The hotel had a relaxed atmosphere, great housekeeping, pleasant restaurant , great snooker room and lovely gardens with access to the beach. We had a rear classic room..with heavy curtains but no blind..which meant keeping the curtain closed, one of the bedside lamps was broken. We ordered an afternoon meal from the brasserie and waited nearly an hour then told there wasn't anyone in the kitchen to make our order. We waited for the kitchen to open at 6 pm.
- Sandra (9/5): Room with a view - The location and view were suburb. The room was lovely and a good she size with amazing view. There was both indoor and outdoor pools and a private path leading to the beach . The shops and cafes were close by . There was private parking which is important .
The brasserie was in the hotel and food was very good and lovely staff The fact we weren’t told we could use the facilities all day . We booked in at 4 and had to book out at 11 which didn’t give us much time to use them
Also cost if breakfast was £25.00 each!
