Guest Reviews
- Nicola (10/5): Lovely stay - The spa! Bathroom was a bit chilly
- Peter (9/5): A great time. - The food in the restaurant and at breakfast. Space for personal items in bathroom.
- Alessandro (9/5): -
- Bobby (10/5): A must visit when in Torquay - The team at the hotel were incredible, nothing was too much trouble.
The hotel was beautiful, clean, up to date but still full of traditional character.
The spa facility is excellent - a must do when visiting.
- Les Newton (9/5): - Clean and comfy Limited menu
- Shelley (10/5): Amazing night away for a birthday treat! Couldn’t have asked for anything more - Beautiful building! Lovely quiet location considering it is so close to a busy beach town
- Marie (4/5): Was fair - Beds were comfy and staff nice The spa bit on night we arrived steam room wasnt working water was colder the next morning no salt sauna or dry sauna
- Mike (10/5): Lovely comfortable relaxing hotel and spa - Lovely comfortable hotel beautifully decorated in a relaxing style, together with the spa makes for a perfect indulgent relaxing stay Nothing really, all great and we enjoyed a lovely stay
- Sarah (9/5): - Fabulous spa....lovely and clean
- Ben (10/5): -
- Jeremy (8/5): -
- Roy (8/5): -
- Lee (8/5): -
- Joanne (7/5): -
- Amy (8/5): -
- Andrew (6/5): A rather disappointing experience - The outside of the property is rather grand and Victorian in appearance and it is set in mature gardens.
The interior aspires to an elegance of the kind that Hyacinth Bouquet would enjoy.
The breakfast was very good and the room was presided over by a very pleasant and accommodating maître d. Our room was cramped because the king size bed, which was very comfortable, took up most of the floor space, leaving very little room for two people to move about. The bathroom was also small and fairly basic. The size of the shower gave one very little room for manoeuvre.
- James (8/5): -
- Callum (10/5): -
- North (9/5): Had a fantastic time. But very disappointed with choice for dinner - Spa facilities. Staff excellent. Dinner menu poor.
- Katie (10/5): -
- andrew (10/5): -
- Gemma (9/5): Great hotel would stay again - Lovely clean and modern decor, great location
- Kevin (10/5): - Staff were really accommodating when we changed room to part of the hotel we really liked . Hotel excellent accomodation and food Spa very good. Have been before and will go again.
- Eddie (9/5): Lovely Spa Hotel - The Spa Facilities were first class
Room clean , nice change as a couple to have ample towels
Location close to Marina We were staying on 3rd floor - no lifts so quite a stair climb
Also hill to hotel quite a steep walk from town
- john (9/5): Very relaxing with all amenities available. - Nice reception (Kelsey) and all other staff very pleasant. Room was close to the parking area and the rooms for breakfast,
lounge, spa areas all very well maintained. The room itself was sufficient but a King size bed would have given us more
space (perhaps a small coffee/card table installed). The area of the hotel and grounds are fabulous but not ideal for people
with old legs because of the sloping ground. We loved the Lincombe Hall and would book again in the future. P.S. short walk to harbour. The en-suite room was not well designed and needs updating. As mentioned before the room was too small for such
a huge bed although very comfortable.
- Patrick (7/5): Ruby anniversary stay - We returned to Lincombe Hall for the first time in over 30 years to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversery. It didn't feel at all special and our room was a little disappointing for the price we paid.
Reception staff were aware of our Anniversary.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful and clearly were well trained and knowledgeable. We were not in any way upset with our stay but for a hotel with such a high previous reutation we would say that the overall experience was average to good. Room a little tired
- Martin (9/5): -
- Cathryn (7/5): Staff weren’t at all helpful on arrival or friendly throughout our stay. - Modern and contemporary. However the terrace from the bar needs some work, we would have liked to of sat outside with our drinks as it was a sunny evening.
The spa was great and its facilities will definitely come back to use but not to stay. Service charge for bucket of ice! Then a charge to have it taken to our room.
Our room was dirty. The carpet was coming away in places and cobwebs in the bathroom.
There was also a big hole in the wall not exactly what we would expect!
- Ian (8/5): - Staff were freindly and helpful, Everywhere was clean and tidy and the spa was very good. Only the slippery floor in the bathroom.
- Painting (10/5): -
- Andrew (4/5): - Pool spa is amazing staff lovely.Breakfast great. Room they put us in was aweful dirty black mold .Dated decor .Broken dirty plug yellow should be white b and b room not 4 star .They did move us to another room took the plug on the chain to reception.
- Carl (5/5): - Spa was nice , room ok , staff nice. Car park £15! bathroom Room a little outdated , breakfast was terrible, would not recommend that to anyone. The swimming pool was too cold. Have stayed in better Spa hotels.
- Mandy (8/5): Great spa and staff, expensive, undercooked food, facilities clean but tired. Not great! - The Spa facilities were excellent. The staff were all lovely, including the Night Porter and the Manager who gave us a different room in the middle of the night because we couldn't sleep on the extremely firm mattress in our allocated room. Good location and clean. The room we were given was called a Cosy King so we were expecting a King size bed. It wasn't, it was a double so seems false advertising. We would have put up with the size and the fact that we had to keep our curtains shut due to the spa veranda being opposite our windows but the mattress was rock hard and we couldn't sleep. Not what you would expect from a luxury hotel. Dinner was very nice but very expensive. The selection at Breakfast was impressive but barely cooked. I couldn't eat the smoked haddock which was translucent, Luke warm and didn't looked cooked properly. As we had to move in the middle of the night, it would have been nice to have been offered a discount voucher for dinner that night but that being said, our room was bigger. It was my partners birthday so was a huge disappointment to have slept so badly.
- Jade (10/5): Lovely stay - The spa was lovely and the hotel was clean and tidy hydro pool could of been slightly warmer wasn’t as warm as others I’ve used
- Tom (10/5): Can’t recommend this place enough - We continue to be regulars at this really excellent place, can’t recommend the facilities, value for money and location enough.
- Tom (10/5): -
- Jane (10/5): Excellent relaxing short break - Staff were amazing Spa was fantastic
- David (9/5): Apart from no flip flops left in our room and no towels our stay was very good - Well looked after lovely staff Lovely room very comfortable
- Julie (9/5): A great experience all round - Great facilities, friendly staff, wonderful spa and treatment. A relaxation away from daily life.
- Holly (8/5): -
- Debbie (8/5): - It was a lovely hotel. The staff food and spa amazing. The room could do with some repair the bath panel was cracked previous bad repair and hanging off on one side let the hotel down which is otherwise lovely. Also not well planned room, chair behind bathroom door so could be opened properly.
- Alex (10/5): -
- Louise (8/5): - The spa was lovely The food was horrible
- Caroline (5/5): If booking at this hotel make sure you book the rooms that are renovated - The spa was lovely, location, and breakfast The room we were put in was disappointing
- Cole (10/5): - 2nd time visited Staff are excellent Facilities excellent and of a high standard and very clean. If your dining the food was very good and breakfast is also very good. Paying for parking though wouldn't deter me from returning just seems unnecessary.
- Andreea (10/5): Excellent hotel and spa - I love Lincombe Hall, it's my favourite place to escape, amazing spa and facilities, been there a few times already this year and I will definitely go back again!
- Cristina (5/5): -
- Yvonne (8/5): - It was well organised and the staff were welcoming on arrival. The room was clean and pleasant and they had left a note and some chocolates made by the chef as a surprise for my birthday which I thought a really lovely touch.
The spa was very nice and cocktails were served in the spa. It was disappointing that there wasn’t a bed available for the whole time we were there as many guests went off for treatments etc and just kept their things on their beds so they couldn’t be used.
We had dinner in the Brasserie and the food was very nice and again excellent service and friendly staff. Too few beds in the spa area.
- Les Newton (8/5): Good Hotel - Staff an facilities were very good Room was small next time I will reserve bigger room
- Rob (5/5): Felt like it was full of rules and regulations and they did not prioritise guests - The spa The staff and room
- FERNANDES (10/5): -
- John (10/5): Went to celebrate an anniversary with my wife and asked for flowers drinks etc and my requests were done and staff great - Great location and staff really polite helpful and genuine people who took time to make you comfortable No complaints
- Louise (8/5): -
- Deborah (9/5): -
- Chris (7/5): Spoilt a very enjoyable encounter. Due to these small print surprises, we would not stay again. - Good location friendly staff Paying for parking and limited access to spa
Parking.
Did not realise parking had to be paid for, and had to have car valeted due to excessive bird excrement all over bonnet and Windscreen.
Long drive so late arrival meant Spa was not open on arrival. Used SPA Sunday. But due to Monday cleaning gym and SPA area not available until 11am. The hotel did allow 1 hour access from 11am, but guests were chased out for overstaying past 12. Whilst I appreciate the facilities need cleaning. I raised the concerns with staff, but was told. Parking is free if booking direct, but through 3rd party the hotel has to recover commissions via parking charges. With regard the SPA was told that the SPA owner was being generous as they did not have to give any access to facilities on the Monday Morning.
- Kamen (7/5): Very unlikely to visit again or at least not via booking.com - Very friendly staff, Service charge included on food and drinks regardless the quality or whether is deserved.Additional charge for breakfast and parking on top of £300 for 2 nights, because Booking .com supply room only!
- Louise (10/5): Fantastic - Have stayed here several times now and will be returning Spa
- Amanda (10/5): - Spa was amazing. Food was really good. Staff were professional and friendly.
- Simon (9/5): -
- christopher (10/5): -
- Chelsea (8/5): A perfect relaxing night away. - The atmosphere was amazing and staff were excellent. The bed was hard and uncomfortable.
- Gemw94 (10/5): - Gorgeous room, relaxing spa, great pina coladas, perfect service.
Peter was very helpful and welcoming.
We will absolutely be returning Absolutely nothing to dislike
- Karen (7/5): -
- Wayne (8/5): Lovely Hotel with great staff in a good location and with an exceptional Spa. - It is quite clear that the main selling point of the Hotel is the SPA. Gym, SPA and pool are all a good size for a medium size hotel and Spa and the facilities in gym and Spa are great. Our room was a decent size and the bed super cosy.
The staff are also really friendly and were very helpful. The charge for parking for Booking.com clients is an odd decision. Presume it is to make up for lost profit from the third party commission fee, but I would not advise this. A few people staying shared the same concern. This should also be more explicit when booking @ B'.com
For an honest account of the food in the Brasserie it is average and just acceptable. If you are a foodie and booking a Hotel SPA for the food as much as the Spa then I would wonder about this. No major complaint and restaurant staff were super friendly and helpful but the food quality was definitely in the middle of the scale. I think this could be better for the cost.
- Matthew (8/5): -
- Smith (10/5): -
- Amellia (7/5): -
- Adrian (10/5): Sufficient spa & relaxing!! - Adults only hotel
Spa & treatments amazing
Staff welcoming & couldn’t do enough for you
Room spacious and clean
Variety of hot breakfast and cold buffet
Dinner at hotel really good and Banana Colada’s were so good! The steep hill getting back to the hotel from the town. You can get a taxi which could cost up to £10 but still worth it.
- Graham (8/5): -
- Katarzyna Tetzlaff (10/5): - Excellent customer service. Very clean rooms and bathroom. Great location. Absolutely amazing SPA facilities and Himalayas Salt Room and Ice Room incredible beautiful experience. Jacuzzi and heated pool as very clean place to relax and have nice weekend away. Not enough sun beds to sit by the pool. Everything else absolutely amazing and beautiful
- Sophie (10/5): -
- Dominic (9/5): We will be back next year ☺️ - Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Exceptional service
- Nicholas (9/5): - Friendly staff, very clean hotel beautifully presented. Lovely spa facilities. Slight confusion over pricing for dinner. On the last day we were told we could use the spa in the morning after checking out, as there had been a deep clean closing the spa on our first morning. We did this until a member of staff from the spa threw us out, leaving us slightly confused and disappointed after a pleasant stay and my wife having had the spa treatments, also happened to be her birthday!

The hotel is let down with quality of food severed up. food quality.
- eloise (10/5): -
- Anupa (6/5): Poor service and poor policies in place. - The food was nice- we enjoyed the afternoon tea and the breakfast. There was a good variety in breakfast and the restaurant and spa staff members were very courteous. The main hotel is very well decorated and has a good spa. We stayed in the apartment which was accessible from the road with free parking but we were not informed of this and were charged £15 per night for the parking. This made me feel that the receptionist on duty was not transparent and just chose to charge us unnecessarily. The Hotel should advocate more honesty as we did not know about our apartment and parking but the receptionist must have known (and the space we were charged for was further away from our apartment than the free parking on the road so was actually more inconvenient to get to).
We needed more milk for tea so when we requested for more, we were told that there is a charge for someone bringing it to us but free if we get it ourselves - what a poor policy, totally unacceptable from a 4-star hotel (to make matters worse, the staff member on the phone seemed to have a very poor attitude in response to the request). Even places like Travelodge deliver milk for tea complimentary and totally free of charge! (For context, the distance between our room and the hotel lobby/bar was about a minute away-which makes a delivery surcharge of £5 for complimentary items ridiculous).
Guests are required to take their towels/ bathrobes/ slippers from their room to the spa and if you lose any of the items, there’s a £50 charge- this just put me on guard and I couldn’t relax in the spa at all.
Overall there is a lack of hospitality partially from the ridiculous policies in place and partially from some of the members of staff-this created an overall negative feeling throughout the stay, which kind of killed our holiday. Will not be staying here again and absolutely do not recommend as there are much better hotels for a similar price with much better reception.
- Ciara (5/5): - The spa was lovely The room was very dated. Not the photos seen on the website.
- Gill (8/5): -
- Martin (10/5): -
- Andreea (10/5): Amazing, you definitely have to go there! - The hotel is excellent, Spa is amazing and the staff very friendly and professional. There are no negatives, everything is great.
- Lucy (10/5): -
- Naomi (8/5): Nice hotel with lovely spa - Size of room and lovely spa facilities Bathroom could have been more modern, thought the car parking charge of £15 per night was steep for Torquay.
- david (10/5): - Everything! I would and already have recommended others to book a stay here. I literally couldn’t fault anything about our stay. All staff very friendly and helpful. Hotel decorated well and kept clean. Breakfast fantastic. Spa area amazing. I will be going back to stay again. Nothing. It was great.
- Loveday (10/5): Mum and daughter treat - Beautiful location and hotel and spa are amazing. Staff were so helpful and friendly. The rooms were beautiful clean and everything you need for your stay. The spa was very quiet and relaxing and the ladies that did our treatments were lovely friendly and welcoming. I will definitely return and recommend this hotel and spa. Nothing
