Property management was subpar. - The Concierge and door men were extremely friendly, polite and gave great customer service. We really appreciated their service. As busy tourist we were out all day and when we came back home to freshen up, there was no water and we never got any notification. We had dinner reservations and we did not feel adequately refreshed. I did not expect this from a four star hotel Very disappointed in how they handled this.

englishabdullah (10/5): Exceptional hotel, but potentially noisy rooms - We had a lovely 5-night stay at this 5-star hotel. All the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The rooms were unique in design and very comfortable. The great location is also a particular benefit, and I don’t think you could do any better in the city. A couple of observations to be aware of: the suite (first floor) was very noisy from, I assume, passing underground metro trains. Obviously, the hotel can’t do anything about this, but I do think it should have been pointed out, as the passing trains literally make the room vibrate. Also, it wasn’t really clear to us if there were any common areas we could just sit and get a drink. There is a rooftop terrace, but it wasn’t clear to us if this was exclusively for the restaurant. It would have been nice to have a space like this available to relax as a group. In summary, this is an exceptional hotel, just be aware that the stay may be a bit noisy depending on your room location.

Unser Zimmer war modern und sauber mit einem großzügigen Badezimmer. Das Frühstück genießt man auf der Dachterrasse und es lässt keine Wünsche offen. Das Personal ist sehr aufmerksam - der Concierge konnte uns gute Tipps geben und war bei der Buchung von Eintrittskarten behilflich - jederzeit gern wieder !!! wir waren mit allem zufrieden

Rooms were great size but very dark and poorly lit. We had 2 rooms for 6 days but were unable to check in until exactly 3pm. The big issue we had was 2 large ROACHES. The first in the shower while one of us was showering and the other 2 days later in the toilet area. We notified reception both times and they said they were cleaning and then treating. We were only offered excuses. my expectation would be no cockroaches in what they claim is a 5 star hotel. I would caution against staying here.

FrequentFlier369750 (10/5): Wonderful stay at the Monument Hotel - We stayed four days/three nights at the Monument Hotel and loved, loved, loved it! It is a beautifully designed and private hotel with a fabulous location in the middle of a lovely section of Barcelona. It hosts a 3-star Michelin restaurant and a wonderful roof-top terrace restaurant and bar with a delicious breakfast buffet and ala carte menu - all served by an attentive and friendly staff. Our room - and general ambience of the hotel - was lovely. The hotel is close to major Gaudi sites, great shopping (small privately owned shops as well as major designers), delightful tapas cafes with local color and culture, and areas to explore. But most of all, the staff here cannot be beat - desk staff, restaurant staff, doormen, and concierge staff were wonderful and tried very hard (hugely successful) to meet all of our needs. On the date of our departure, the doorman actually saved us from being delivered to the AIRport vs. the cruise port when a non-english-speaking driver had the wrong location set in his GPS! It has our highest recommendation and we thank them for a lovely stay in beautiful Barcelona.

CaraMHutchins (8/5): Historic Building with Modern Updates in a Great Location - We recently spent 3 nights here and had a great visit. The hotel is nicely updated and has a beautiful terrace (where they serve breakfast) with a bar and pool. The staff was very friendly and the decor was attractive. The rooms are quite small-- even the junior suite that it's hard for two people and luggage to move around the room. The bathroom had nice amenities and was quite large. One caveat was the metro that runs under the hotel. You can hear it late at night and early in the morning.

Thank you very much for making our stay a memorable one. We travel extensively, so when I say the breakfast buffet was fabulous...whew!! Everything was an absolute treat for the eye AND palate. Though just about everything was great, as we were in a first floor suite the rumble from the metro beneath us caught us off-guard and was a bit unnerving. For full transparency please consider mentioning this to guests during check-in so they can decide whether or not the noise will pose an issue.

The room is clean and the service is prompt and detailed. We were pleasantly surprised to receive lovely personalised cards and treats for Valentine’s Day and Lunar New Year. My daughter had a fantastic time at the kids workshop in the beautiful rooftop restaurant arranged by Maria, the very helpful staff who assisted us during our stay. Highly recommend!

Global627295 (10/5): Fantastic Stay in Barcelona - Monument Hotel is five star all the way. Service is spectacular from the front desk, housekeeping, concierge, and rooftop restaurant. We loved the breakfast and the staff there was so attentive. Food was amazing and plentiful and kept us full until dinner. Also, head back to the roof for happy hour drinks and appetizers. The downstairs bar was under construction while we were there but once completed, it looks like it will be fabulous. The hotel is in a great neighborhood with amazing shopping, restaurants, and close to Casa Batllo. I highly recommend this hotel.

s444796 (2/5): not very pleasant - A truly awful experience; we couldn't sleep all night because the couple in the room above us, a two-bedroom suite, were drunk. We were kept awake from 4 to 8 am by loud noises and banging. This shouldn't happen in a 5-star hotel. We're used to staying in genuine 5-star hotels all over the world, and frankly, this hotel leaves much to be desired. It's not worth the price at all, and I wouldn't recommend it. The facilities are outdated; the communal bathrooms are poorly maintained; at dinner, we ordered a wine that cost over €100, and they brought us glasses of water to drink it in. A complete disaster, in addition to the inability to sleep. They tried to compensate us with a dinner of salad and a couple of sandwiches, and parking. Thanks for the gesture, but it's obviously not enough, since these are things that hardly cost you anything. I absolutely do not recommend this hotel, as there are much better hotels in the area, and real 5-star ones at that. If you're looking for a luxury experience, this isn't it.

Breakfast was outstanding, the hotel was very child-friendly, and the location is absolutely perfect right in the heart of Barcelona. The breakfast was fabulous. Fresh and tasty and cooked to order if required. Lots of healthy choices available. The pool was lovely, small but fun after a day in the city. The rooftop bar and restaurant were good, though not a huge amount of food choices on the menu. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. Lots of bars , restaurants in the area Hotel/room : spotless, luxury boutique hotel , rooms with separate seating area , huge bathroom with bathtub and shower area, all in all a perfect room. Very quiet we slept great. Service : Staff is helpful , discrete , you really feel you are welcome there ofc in a luxury way, but it never felt fake except the weird narrative at check in Breakfast: there is a bar on the roof, buffet is small but all the other things you can order a a la cart and it was very tasty. We had a bad weather so ate inside , but there is also a pool and seating area outside on the roof that looks great for nice weather Negatives Early check in : day before I asked about early check in as i had a meeting in the morning, got the usual answer if available but that i could change clothes somewhere (which is totally ok). On the check in , we didn’t mentioned it, but the lady said that our room is not yet ready but that there is a same category room ready which we could check in right away for a price!? Price is 150e but because we are there for a special occasion they will give discount and its gonna cost 100e!? The whole conversation felt very weird, and i think it should’ve been communicated differently. They should just say you can check in early for a 100e. The way it was represented to us felt like a stupid rip off especially as weren’t there for any special occasion it was a regular trip. In a 500+ euro a night hotel you don’t expect this kind of weird communications because evidently there are available rooms that you paid for. Renovations : big part of lobby is closed off I’m not sure if its the lobby or Michelin star restaurant Lasarte, but only drinks you can get or chill at the hotel are on the rooftop bar, which is also a breakfast room, so if its bad weather, you basically sit in a breakfast room if you want a drink at the hotel. Its boutique hotel so we were not expecting big community spaces , but some kind of better bar would be great for rainy days. All in all we liked it but will probably try a couple more high end Barcelona hotels and then come again.
JohnN173 (10/5): Excellent service distinguishes this hotel - We stayed at the Monument hotel for a long weekend just before Christmas. It has the feeling of a boutique hotel, though it is not small. We were welcomed with a glass of cava during check in. The room, a junior suite was very nice - large enough to be comfortable with a good bathroom. It also had a small balcony with good views of the neighbourhood which is even nicer with the Christmas lights up. Location is convenient to many of Barcelona's attractions while being one of the more upmarket areas. Took the 'Yummy Brunch' on Sunday which we very much enjoyed. The most impressive feature of this hotel was the service, which was uniformly excellent. When we return to Barcelona, the Monument Hotel will be top of our list.

The room was comfortable and clean. The location had us near a prime taxi spot and 2 metro stations. We could get to every area we wanted to see quickly and safely. The attractions within a two minute walk were impressive and so lovely to walk by each day. The breakfast was delicious and fast. The luxury shops surrounding the hotel were amazing. It was really a fantastic stay in an amazing area with everything you could want or need nearby. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

The service was impeccable and the staff were consistently attentive, friendly and efficient. I have no hesitation in recommending this wonderful hotel and will return!

Young (9/5): - The location was fantastic - in the heart of Barcelona on Passeig de Gracia with 2 Metro stations within 2 blocks, yet it was very quiet. The rooms were spacious with a walkout balcony and housekeeping was spotless.

NewYorker03 (10/5): Friendly lovely hotel - We enjoyed a fantastic stay over the holiday. The hotel is lovely & charming and all the staff are very friendly. The hotel’s location on Passeig de Gracia is exceptional. We appreciate the reception is setup with chairs to sit down comfortably during check-in (and check-out). It is easy and fast to go up to your room via the beautiful stairs or the 2 elevators. We stayed in both the Suite Passeig de Gracia and Suite Monument for our family of 3. The hotel provided a small rollaway bed both times in the living room space. The slightly larger size of the Suite Passeig de Gracia is much better to accomodate the rollaway bed. We also preferred the main bathroom configuration in the Suite Passeig de Gracia. Both suite types have a small 1/2 bathroom which was extremely useful to have for a family of 3. The HVAC system worked very effectively. The beds were comfortable but one area of improvement would be the king bed pillows - the set of pillows are too soft & thin, we would have loved more plush & firm pillows. The hotel gym is a small room on the rooftop next to the pool; there were 2 machines & one workout bench and barbells that topped out at 25kgs. If the hotel has the opportunity to find a larger space for the gym in the future, it would be better. It would not bother me if the gym is not on the rooftop. Breakfast on the rooftop was delicious with an order menu that covered all the breakfast standards. Though the buffet breakfast spread was on the smaller side in terms of variety. We feasted on a delightful New Year’s Eve dinner in the spacious hotel lobby restaurant (formerly Oria) that will change in 2026. It will be a fascinating surprise to see what it will become. We hope to return to the Monument hotel in the future and be able to enjoy a family meal at Lasarte. We hope to see the same friendly faces again.

tamsint2023 (10/5): Exceptional Family Break at Monument Hotel - We had a truly wonderful three-night stay at the Monument Hotel and would return in a heartbeat. From the moment we arrived as a family of five, the team made us feel incredibly welcome, upgrading us from a Family Suite to an even larger suite and greeting the children with sweets and a little tour of the room, which set the tone for the whole stay. The thoughtful touches for my husband’s 50th birthday were especially appreciated – a chilled bottle of cava waiting in the room and a beautiful chocolate dessert made him say he felt like he’d been treated like a king the entire time we were there. Our suite was beautiful, with five balconies overlooking Passeig de Gràcia, giving us fabulous views of La Pedrera and the sparkling Christmas lights along the avenue, which made the evenings feel really magical. The location could not be better, right on Barcelona’s most elegant shopping street and an easy walk to many of the city’s main sights, so it worked brilliantly for a family city break. Breakfast each morning was delicious, with excellent quality ingredients and plenty of choice, and it was a real pleasure to linger over coffee while looking out onto the city. All of the staff we encountered were warm, professional and genuinely keen to make our stay special, which made the hotel feel both luxurious and relaxed. All in all, this was a really memorable visit and one of the best hotel experiences we have had as a family – highly recommended for a special occasion or a treat in Barcelona.

The hotel bar is one of the nicest I've ever been to and the care and innovativeness that the bartenders show makes this a must if you stay. It's a great location for most of the tourist locations-- either a walk or short cab, and is close to the airport. I highly recommend and will definitely be back!

Karlo (10/5): 5* luxury boutique hotel experience with European flair - From the moment we approached the entrance door until checking out and leaving the Monument Hotel everything was perfect. Front office staff (Bellmen, Concierge and Receptionist) welcomed us immediately in such a hospitable, professional and well coordinated manner. During that moment I really noticed and felt what means 5* luxury hospitality. The most interesting detail that I noticed (even though it could be subjective) is that the employees have so much experience they exactly know and feel where is the border between being brief professional and efficient and asking too much or being too attentive. Above mentioned detail is rare, and people who travel often will understand what it means. Check in was smooth, and the receptionist lady was very professional. She explained everything to us in a short time with a smile and positive energy. We stayed in a Junior Suite, and the interior is really nice. Bathroom is amazing, one of my regrets is that I didnt have time to enjoy and relax in the bathtub. Mini bar offering is outstanding - complimentary soft drinks, snacks, coffee and tea infusions. Monument Hotel defines “quality over quantity”. How often do You see Louis Roederer champagne in a mini bar? Moreover - there is a “pillow menu” offering 5 different pillows according to guests needs. We didnt change our pillows as bed and pillows were very comfortable. Another detail, this time regarding the interior design - the “starry sky” lights on the ceiling above bed are an amazing detail. Dyptique cosmetics in the bathroom, wonderful. Breakfast is amazing, fresh, nutritious. Again I must say quality over quantity. I regret that we did not stay longer to be able to try more items from the a la carte menu. The whole hotel was very nicely decorated during the pre christmas period. Gentlemen at the bar are very professional and I regret I havent tried some of the cocktails as I noticed their skill and creativity while I was having my rum.

AlexLa (7/5): This time - just ok! - The hotel is perfectly located in the very middle of shopping and walking street of Barcelona. You can easily get anywhere from the place and fell comfortable with timing. Shops, restaurants and anything else you need for pleasure is within several step distance. Unfortunately a lot of positive aspects around the hotel were ruined by technical or human factors. I can confirm that everything has been quickly resolved, but once during the two day stay you face at least 5 "issues" - it does make you think of your choice and if it was lucky enough.
