Guest Reviews
- Luis (8/5): - Creo que podría ser un poco mas económico.
- Victor (8/5): - Not bad for the price
- Norman (8/5): - Across the street from Central Park but, as is normal for a Costa Rican 2 star hotel, no hot water.
- David (10/5): - Excelente asistencia al cliente y buenas personas
- Alan (10/5): - Nice place - convenient and worth it for the money.
- Maureen (2/5): - Our room was very dated, and very noisy, day and night
- Marc (8/5): - Great for the price, left my camera tripod in the room and they put it aside for my friend to pick up. Gracias Primavera 👍
- Pilar (10/5): - There is no hot water in the facility and there are some plumbing issues. Bed was comfortable. The receptionist was very nice and accommodating
- Steve (2/5): - Unbelievable!
- Janice (6/5): - The property is very clean. The bedding was great. With that in mind, it is so dated and unkept.
I didn’t even shower because the place is falling apart.
- Ricki (6/5): - We chose this hotel as a cheap place to sleep before flying out the next morning. It was certainly that! The room was very basic, but had space for 4 people to sleep. The shower was cold, but that was expected. Little bit sketchy but the light switch and plug were inside the shower stall. Fortunately the shower head was more like a hose so the water just sprayed straight down. Does not have AC, which i was certain the ad said that it does, but when i got my confirmation email it said no AC, so a bit confused by that. Had an excellent ceiling fan that did a great job of keeping us comfortable while we slept. The area around the hotel was great, felt very safe walking around and sitting in the square with all the locals and their kids after dark, and there was a security guard roaming in case someone got out of line. Lots of shopping and food options nearby. Maxi Pali was a 10 min walk away. Would definitely recommend it if you just want a basic place to stay on the cheap!
- Chantal (8/5): - Super central, clean and perfect for the price point.
- Ralph (8/5): - Good location. Friendly reception. Basic but just what I wanted. Proably vety similar to US motels but very central. I would use the place again.
- Ava (8/5): - It had everything I needed for the price it was. The staff was very helpful when I had an issue with my key. The ceiling fan made the stay comfortable.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Avoid if you can, not bad if needed - Not great...decent location...bad wifi, no laundry facilities, tvs from 1993, cold showers, door knobs dont work. If you can, avoid this place....on the plus side, the ac worked well.
- Alexander (10/5): - Simple and effective Latin vibes
- Ailing (8/5): - Convenient location, free parking. Friendly staff. Shower no hot water, only cold water.
- Edgardo (8/5): - Not the Ritz but centrally located
- Andrew (8/5): - It is an economy hotel, no frills, no hot water, but its clean and beds were good. TV and wifi were perfect.
Will stay there again.
- Nestor (4/5): - This property has several drawbacks and I think the only advantages are the price and location. Getting in the car is difficult and narrow (try to get there early or you won’t find a spot and you’ll have to park 3 blocks away from the hotel, which is very questionable with glass on the ground). When I was checking in, the lady was very unprofessional, rude and helped me in a very bad way (I think I was making her miss her TV show). The rooms look like they’re from the 90s, everything looks quite rustic and old and a bit unsafe.
- Julio (10/5): - Un hotel pequeño, en el centro y a un precio muy cómodo.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Economical Very Basic Quick Stay - Very basic. A cheap bed and safe place to sleep if you want to save money and have a late or early flight from IR airport. A few blocks walk from where local bus stops in Liberia from airport, just across from park. Walkable to many restaurants. Saturday there was a parade on the street out front. Economic very basic stay. Don’t expect much and you’ll be fine for a night.
- Sergio (6/5): - The property has potential but really needs to be updated. I thought it was expensive for what you get. It was hard to take a shower since the water just ran down by the wall
- Michael (10/5): - Hotel Primavera es un buen lugar y locación es perfecto.
- Takahito (8/5): Great deal - low quality (parking, water, AC) - If you want a cheap place to stay in Liberia or near the airport, you can't beat this. The location is actually really good, in the middle of downtown, directly across from the park - but finding it might be hard since it's down a hidden alley. In addition, the parking is VERY tight - if you can park there before other vehicles, you'll be fine, but once a few vehicles get in there, turning in any direction might be impossible. As noted in some reviews, no hot water - and that's fine - but the room I had had almost zero water pressure. Also, note that it does get very very hot and humid in Liberia (I went in early May) so without AC, this might be uncomfortable for some.

- Darren (10/5): Passing through Liberia - We had a 1 night stay in Liberia before heading to the coast.
Primavera was ideal for what we needed but this is by no means a fancy hotel.
Friendly staff and well located this place is.
If you struggle with heat be sure to book a room with air con.
Would stay again if ever in town.
- Janet (6/5): - I felt that the layout of the entire motel was an extreme fire hazard. Especially at night when the inner courtyard was packed with vehicles and the only exit/entry point in the entire place is a long, narrow, one vehicle width alleyway leading to the road.
I would never stay there again, or recommend it to anyone else.
- Thomas (10/5): - I like the price more than anything. It's in a very convenient area of town, the staff is fantastic helping me with anything that they can. It's an interim stay while I figure out how to get to other places
- ira (8/5): Very friendly staff, good budget hotel. - Primavera is a budget hotel with a good, safe location. The room was adequate and clean. What made our stay great was the helpful and friendly staff.
- Gizella (6/5): - Clean but requires some serious updating. The furniture looks like it came from a hospital dating back to the 1950’s
- Kyril (8/5): - The price/quality is unbeatable!
- Vannapha (6/5): - The room was very warm, no air conditioner. And no laundry facilities as noted on the hotel details. But good value for what it’s worth.
- John (6/5): - Tv remote didn't work
- Jacqueline (4/5): - Trying to find this hotel was a nightmare. Its located down a very narrow ally set way back.
- Jeannette (6/5): - parking was kind of inconvenient.
- Carlos (8/5): - Location is very convenient, across from central park
- Edward (6/5): - At or very near the centre of Liberia. It is a lively, active Friday afternoon and night. The hotel is an older building in need of update. The electrical service had no ground prong and I was not able to charge my phone. However, the price was good and had parking and air conditioning. I was alone in a room that sleeps four.
- Oliverio (8/5): - This is a one night before your flight motel. Don't expect much and you won't be disappointed.
- Napoleon (8/5): - I just need 1 night close to the airport, and works well, the price is ok.
- ivonne (10/5): - Love it
- John (10/5): - Good value. I wanted a cheap bed close to the airport and that is exactly what this was
- Mark (8/5): - Close to the city center
- John (10/5): - Perfect for me 👍🙂
- Daunte (8/5): - It was cool and all, but no hot water. I went to address the issue, and they told me that they only have “cool water.” I’m guessing that since it gets hot there, most folks want a cool shower?
- Nam (10/5): - I have family in Liberia; therefore, I often come to this city. However, I've never been to this particular hotel mainly because the entrance is so easy to miss! Nothing negative, but one needs to really look to realize that there is a hotel.
That being said, I am very happy with the choice of staying at the Hotel Primavera. The room is basic but had two separate spaces: the "dining room" and bedroom. The dining had a small table and bench chairs, sink and microwave. Nothing more. I guess a family could use that space but I never did. They could have put in a sofa or something because there is a lot of wasted space. The bedroom was acceptable, but TV was from 1990s; I thought they stopped making/using those! Again, not a bid deal for me because I had my laptop but I'm not sure why they don't just scrap the old TV. Bathroom was good as well; however, no hot water. I found that that wasn't needed but I could see that as an issue during the rainy season when temperatures could make showing not so fun.
My only complaint would be the noise early in the morning. It's very quiet despite the centralize location, but when other guests are up early and getting ready for their day/exit, you can hear pretty much everything. Soundproofing is nonexistent. If you are a light sleeper, you will need earplugs.
Overall, I'd recommend this hotel due to its value and location. The staff were friendly and communication was always fast to respond to my emails. I'd return here.
- Martha Lorena (8/5): - No hay personal que ayude a subir maletas al segundo piso
- Luis Diego (8/5): - Addressed my need to get a room with multiple beds and there was a good service!
- Rosie (8/5): As expected - Stayed in a family room.
Basic, but that was expected for the price.
WiFi was a bit ‘hit and miss’ and the shower wasn’t amazing (water spraying in so many different directions, not much seemed to land on my head)
Overall was adequate, with no real concerns at all.
- Tomeka (6/5): - If was a good price. A good place to stay for 1-2 days but not any longer. The parking lot entrance was difficult to find and had to be found on foot. Locking and unlocking the doors was difficult. A few updates are needed but over all place was clean.
- Lily (8/5): - Really kind staff. Great when you just need to be near the airport for an early flight. Clean with good wifi
- Carmen (6/5): - I didn´t like not having a ramp on the second floor since I had two heavy suitcases.
- James (2/5): - Due to Delta Airlines flight connection being missed by late arrival was unable to arrive the day of check in. Hotel cancelled my 2 day reservation and charged me for the stay anyway. On arrival for the 2cd night stay there was no vacancy. Had to make other accommodation. Expedia had promised to get back to me in less than 24 hours by email. 2 days later still waiting .
- Rafael (8/5): Very clean - Simple but clean. Good overall
- Rodolfo (8/5): - Dentro de la habitación . Puerta principal no cerraba . No tiene ducha . Y algunas condiciones como TV no sirven .
- Hans Jurgen (8/5): - .
- Evelin (10/5): Convenient and friendly owner - It is a good place and right there near to the Ticabus stop for passengers that continue their trip to the next destination. It is a big room with all the amenities you would appreciate
- Ghanshyam (10/5): - Really worth the money, convenience of being in the city.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Good value - Good central location across from a park, although a little difficult to spot as it's down an alley. The room was actually quite spacious. No A/C but there is a ceiling fan which should be sufficient in most weather for most people.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No hot water, wife forgot earrings in room returned next day and was told they didn’t find anything… parking lot very very small. Good for some backpackers but not so much for a family.
- Lisa (10/5): - When you pay next to nothing for a hotel, expectations need to match the price point.
I booked fairly last minute and my options were limited, and also needed a pet friendly hotel.
Primavera is in the perfect location for someone who does not have a car and is on a budget. It was perfect as an overnight to explore Liberia, close to great restaurants and the city centre but set back enough to not be too noisy.
The room is basic, but it had a desk and chair, the bed was fine and it was clean.
The staff were amazing, sweet and accommodating - making sure I had coffee in the morning before my long journey.
It was everything I needed to start this new adventure. Thank you!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Decent place to stay for a layover - I stayed one night at this property for a layover in Liberia. The hotel is in the center of the city and not close to the airport. It is about 2km away from the main bus terminals. It is tucked away behind an alley. The room was quite outdated but it was clean and quiet. I would recommend this property for a quick layover. I don’t really have any particular complaints. They could offer more service to make it more attractive such as breakfast, shampoo, hot water, or just an overall refresh. They didn’t have a printer so I had to find a copy shop to get something printed out.
- Gioconda (10/5): - Great location and staff.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Always a good experience - We have stayed here a few times and it’s always a good experience. You get why you pay. Nothing fancy but always kind hotel staff and close to the airport!!
- TiaLouise (6/5): - Pros--very secure and friendly staff.
Cons--although clean, the facilities were old and dilapidated.
Overall--a good place to stay the night while traveling through
- Esther (8/5): - The staff was very friendly and helpful!!!
Limited parking
Great place to stay it you are NOT looking for something luxurious and plan on being out and about while visiting Costa Rica.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Zero problem from staff, but Liberia has trafficking and aggresive crime, and they behave contrary to what reliable intelligence would inform them of.
- darwin (8/5): - A little hard to find as it is hidden between outside buildings. Small metal hotel signs on the street and night rope light at entrance. Good economic room but it has no hot water. Not a big problem as it was hot. Only negative as some one else said was parking very small and limited.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price, this is good. But it is very basic with no frills. We wanted a place near the airport to crash and this more than met our needs. The staff was very friendly and helpful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Bare bones for somewhere to sleep and move on.....
- Brian (4/5): Huge cockroaches - Chose this hotel because it was inexpensive and just needed a place to sleep for a 6:00 am flight. When we went in the room we startled 3 large (oreo cookie sized) cockroaches. Young lady on the desk was very apologetic and even killed one but would not refund the money. Did not stay - found another much nicer hotel in Liberia. Also, hotel is on an internal court. Parking is minimal and very tight - there was no room for us.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Very good location in Liberia, 24hr check-in, very nice staff.
- Yerry (6/5): Accesible hotel - The staff was helpful enough to let me keep the bags at the hotel after my stay; however, I tried to request a late check-out on a Monday, they simply refused. If they'd been more accommodating and attentive I would have paid the extra night, but they weren't. The facilities are a bit outdated, as they have no hot water in the room. Very few outlets to plug your electrical devices. Old type of TVs, too. I made my booking through Expedia, specifically for two adults. When I got to the hotel, they just gave me one towel and one soap. I had to request extra ones for my joining party. Moreover, when my partner arrived, they said I had to pay an extra fee for an additional person. I had a double room with a booking for two adults, yet they insisted I had to pay. At 10 PM they close the gate in / out of the hotel, so you have to ask the doorman everytime you plan to go out / come in. On the positive side, I liked the quietness despite being just downtown. It's perfect for running errands downtown, shopping around, going out to eat, as there are many amenities downtown. The A/C was great in the room. It was clean and beds were neatly fixed.
- Airon Meeker (10/5): Place to crash after a late flight - Service was good. Front desk employee helped us find a place to get food when we got there around 11 pm since most places were closed. Parking lot was small but there was a spot for us to park. This place is truly a no frills hotel. No hot water or AC. There is a ceiling fan though that kept it cool enough in the room. Stay here if you just need a bed to sleep in for the night. If thats all you need, its perfect!
- Sandy (8/5): - Great for the price. The location is really good as well.
- joan (8/5): Clean and Simple - Great location , close to bars and restaurants. Convenient stop close to the airport. Great for 1 or 2 nights.
- Dustin (6/5): Fair value, not overly suitable for extended stay. - Good price. We arrived back in Liberia at around 5PM and had to fly out at 5AM, so we really just needed somewhere to sleep. Comfortable beds. No AC in room however, and the fan does a poor job of keeping you cool.... we resorted to cold showers and sleeping with just a sheet.
Location is meh, the area of downtown liberia has tall fences and razor wire everywhere. The hotel area felt quite safe as it was enclosed and gated. Outside of the complex, the scenery seems to indicate a lot of crime. So, be aware. Across the street from the hotel there is a large greenspace that had, amidst a lot of homeless people. a japanese cultural festival going on with martial arts displays and ethnic foods to purchase.
There was an odd red substance on the walls. They messed up our booking and thought we were in the following night to when we actually arrived. Luckily they had a "clean" room available despite the mixup. We are still not sure if the few red stains on the white walls were blood or not, as we weren't in a hurry to find out.... despite being a nurse and a paramedic.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Did the trick - We just needed a place to stay for the night before heading to the beaches in the morning. Room was clean and property felt secure. Good value for the price.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Try staying somewhere else first... - Pros: Staff is very nice and accommodating. The room smelled of disinfectant (in a positive 'clean') way when we arrived.
Cons: No AC, No Hot Water, No modern plugs that would work with 3 prong electrics (e.g. laptop chargers). Bed Bugs.
Most unfortunately of all, I'm pretty certain the disinfectant was used to keep bed bugs at bay. Since we ended up staying 3 nights, the staying power of the disinfectant likely wore off, and we were really attacked on the 3rd night.
The last night, I was only asleep for a few hours before the pain from some bites awoke me, and I stayed awake the rest of the night. The bites were most definitely NOT mosquitoes (been bitten by them in the thousands), fleas, or spiders. Since I got bed bugs several times on a RTW trip many years ago, I can ID the bites pretty well. About about a dozen bites total, so not a rampant infestation, but still concerning.
- Brian (4/5): Location and price, but little else! - 1 night is enough while stopping over. Good location right in the middle of town.
- Amanda (6/5): Basic but clean - This place was very basic and no frills, but a good place to crash for one night. It was clean. The woman who checked us in was nice.
