Guest Reviews
- Joseph (10/5): - Parking was easy
- Mario (4/5): - When you walk into the room is clean I give them that I have a roll of toilet paper two towels no daily room service. We had garbage in our room from Friday until we left. It was still there Sunday. The comforter has cigarette burns all over it no chairs to sit in. We had a guy next to us that kept yelling welcome to hell welcome to hell the whole time we came in and out of the room, other than that, it was just swell.
- Idamar (10/5): - Good motel
- terri (6/5): - The hot water in shower took too long to get warm. It stayed liuke warm and never got hot The sink drain was very slow, it just needs drano. It would be nice to have a coffee maker and coffee, sugar and creamer in the room
- Andrew (4/5): - Only one wash cloth for two people. Barely any hot water. Toilet paper holder was broke. No handsoap.
- Daniel (6/5): - Room was clean. Everything works.
1 clothes hook on door, no where else to hang clothes. Front desk guy hates his life, and you too. One key only for the room. It was like pulling teeth to get extra coffee, shampoo and a towel.
- Vannak (10/5): - Na
- Angelica (8/5): - We stayed here for just one night, and honestly, it felt like we had stepped into a scene from a movie. Between the vibe of the place and pulling in late, I half-expected to be on a stakeout looking for a fugitive or maybe hiding out like CIA agents laying low. Of course, it’s a motel, so what you see is what you get. The room was clean, but there was a musty smell and a few fruit flies greeted us when we arrived. On the plus side, the staff member at check-in was very friendly and explained everything clearly. The location was convenient, and for a quick overnight stay, it did exactly what we needed, with a little extra cinematic flair. Overall, it was a positive experience.
- Richard (6/5): - Well located for our purposes. Clean, reasonable price, most basics provided. However, Wifi did not work for our part of the building, and no public area or even chairs to go where it did, so I was not able to conduct my minimal business while there. Easy to get a Wifi multiplier for outlying rooms.
- Abigail (10/5): - N/A
- Fernando (10/5): - Clean
- Jason (8/5): - Great place for the price
- Leonel (2/5): - The bed smelled disgusting, and the white sheets had stains .
- Diana (8/5): - Friendly staff. Clean & quiet room.
- Barbara (6/5): - Bed with out comforter....
- William M (4/5): - This is the only hotel I've ever stayed in with no closet or coat rack. There was nothing provided to hang up coats/clothes. No suitcase rack. Very high noise level from cooling unit and high traffic highway. Many ants in the sink.
- lisa (10/5): - It was very clean, remodeled room.
- CINDY (4/5): - Good for one night.
- Duane (10/5): - Just a chill little roadside motel no frills just a quaint little old school roadside motel
- William (4/5): - Wifi in my room did not work. No hot water - lukewarm at best. Dirt on floor upon arrival.
- Thomas (6/5): - The staff and in particular the cleaning of the room personnel were excellent
- Diana (8/5): - It’s decent.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Happy at Holly - Just enough space and comfort for a night or two. Conveniently located for good food and nice local beaches.
- Joe (8/5): - The property is under construction, so it gives an unfair rating to give right now. I am curious to see what it looks like when it is finished.
- Riondo (6/5): - OK for a night
- JayDee (8/5): - We stayed for several days. Our room was clean and the price was fair. It was easy to overlook small broken things like the toilet paper holder. We would stay again. We would just bring an iron and hairdryer. They were remodeling the exterior so it will be nice to see the upgrades. If you’re used to really nice hotels with soaps, ample towels, tissue boxes, coffee maker, ironing board, chairs and maybe desk etc…. This place isn’t for you. In comparison it’s pretty bare bones. But if you want a reasonably priced, clean and safe place to lay your head for the night…. This is for you. It looks like a nice family owned business. Depending on who you interact with there may be a struggle to communicate in English.
- Carlos (4/5): - They have to put better pillows and sheets
- Kirsten (10/5): - Room was clean
- Heidi (6/5): - This is a cheap motel- bare-bones and bottom of the barrel, BUT it was clean, and the other folks staying there were not loud. Also, beware that it is right on a main road with motorcycles and ambulances screaming by all night. I wouldn’t want to stay there for a vacation, but it was ok for a night.
- Noah (6/5): - The room smelled like cigarettes and the blanket had burn marks on it. The location was convenient, but I’d drive further to get where I was going to avoid staying there again.
- Michael (8/5): - The room was clean, the grounds were quiet, all around not to bad for a last minute booking on fourth of July weekend!
- Nicole (8/5): Good for a motel - For a motel, it was clean and a good place to stay for the night
- Abigail (10/5): - 100% recommend for anyone needing to stay somewhere for a couple days
- Valerie (6/5): - The room had a still smell, not fresh. The bed was comfortable, but I would not recommend unless you just need someplace to sleep.
- James (4/5): - Not a fan of this place. room wasn’t ready. There was hair in the bed and a hole in the sheets. Sheets were also damp. They give you one pillow that is so used it was flat. Room was falling apart paint on the walls were chipping off. Night stands missing drawer handles. Got a knock on the door and it was the guy at front desk telling me not to use blind cause it’s broken. To be honest I wanted to leave but couldn’t cancel day of stay after seeing the room. Wish I never booked this place.
- Thomas (10/5): - It was seamless
- Siobhan (10/5): - Love that area. Great food. Great people
- Keith (6/5): - Clean
- Resson (6/5): - Towels were stained.
- Diana (8/5): - Eh. Was ok.
- Anne (6/5): - Good enough if you are stopping for an overnight or don’t want to drink and drive home.
- Olga (10/5): - Everything was very good.Very clean, quiet,We had everything what we needed.
- Joe (6/5): Excellent night sleep - My room was clearly remodeled. The floors were wood bathroom redone toilet paper holder was broken. No big deal. The bed comforter did have one cigarette hole burning it towards the end again no big deal. I slept amazing very comfortably the air conditioner worked but wouldn’t go below 74° Which is my only concern on an extremely hot evening. Some may like it a little colder. Indian family runs it very nice people. I would stay again if I was in the area. Now I can’t speak on the other rooms only the remodeled room that I got and it was fine.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nice motel - Nice short stay motel
- John (10/5): - Very clean & comfy room. I will return one day
- Lindsey (4/5): - The shower was so dirty and towels had brown stains on them. We went for a concert nearby and just booked a cheap place to stay. We got 2 pillows that looked so old and flat. No hand towel for after you wash your hands. Just a wash cloth that someone washed their gross body with. There was hair And dirt in the shower. We left this morning without even washing up. The toilet paper holder was ripped off the wall. Next time we go somewhere overnight for a concert well spend the extra money.
- nector (8/5): - I love this place very nice and people at office are really nice and helpful
- Zach (4/5): - There was a $25 safety charge for no smoking in the room which totally makes sense. What didn't make sense is that our duvet cover had a cigarette burn all the way through the cover and the room had allergens so bad (maybe from previous smokers?) that it made my sinuses go crazy even after two Claritin. Checkout is at 11 so be ready to move before that and don't make the mistake I did of tying your shoes at 1101, cause they'll knock on your door and need you out of there! There was also a persistent creaking throughout the night that could have been from another's guest's bedframe but, it was at such a regular interval that it's hard to say what it was.
- Tracey (6/5): - Everything
- Elaine (2/5): - The motel didn’t have my reservation. The charge was pending on my credit card. He was not willing or he was unable to help me. I called your Customer Service only to be hung up on. I called again and told to call another number. That number was no good. I then went to another hotel then called my credit card company and disputed the bill.
- naomi (10/5): - A
- Rocco (6/5): - The basic facility was ok, well lit parking, new looking facades. The room was clean but there wasn't a chair or table. The towels were thin as were the pillows. Plus there wasn't a single hook or place to hang any clothes. There seemed to be a lot of residents living there. there was one who was outside all the time looking to bum money or cigarettes or... It was close to where I needed to be but i doubt I'll stay again even for the low cost.. I'd have been better off at another motel even if it cost more.
- Dilenia (8/5): - Everything is fine, the only thing is that they didn't put soap
- Mabel (6/5): - We stayed at Holly Hill in the middle of the Lighthouse Challenge. We were very pleased with the price, because many places had raised their rates due to the event taking place. We were most impressed that the parking lot was so well-lit when we arrived! We reserved two rooms, #8 and 9, but ended up parking at room #5 because others had taken our spot. Perhaps numbering the parking spaces would be helpful for this, otherwise it’s certainly not the fault of the motel owners. Our rooms were very clean, and the beds were comfortable. However, each room was provided with ONE washcloth and two bath towels. NO hand towels. Our daughter’s bathroom smelled strongly of smoke. Even spraying it didn’t help. There was one plastic cup in each room; no ice bucket. No chair to sit on. The air conditioner worked very well. We didn’t get showers because there was only warm water (no cold in either room!) and we didn’t know if we would be able to control the temperature. We brushed our teeth quickly because the water started out warm and only rose in temperature. We googled the remote in order to figure out how to even turn the tv on. Our daughter did the same in her room. She was finally able to figure it out, and managed to find a couple of channels; ours never went beyond saying “no channels.” To be fair, we could have gone back to the office and asked for help, but we were getting up early anyway. We did get a good night’s sleep, but we wouldn’t recommend this motel.
- Charles (10/5): - The room was neat and clean and the bed was comfortable. It would have been nice to have some place to hang my clothes, but was otherwise a fine basic accommodation.
- Richard (6/5): - Room was clean and bed comfortable, which is primary. But bare bones, not even a chair, which I would have liked. Wifi was not strong enough to get a signal to check my emails. And proprietor did each check-in as though for the first time. Still, very convenient location, and I'll probably use it again.
- Claudio muyembe (8/5): - Very good
- Joy (6/5): - The bed mattress is terrible. The cover is so thin, only two small flat pillows. All overall the bed is uncomfortable. Other than that it is ok.
- Tiara (2/5): - Front desk check in was rough as the gentleman checking us in did not speak English well. And when we got to the room there were specks of blood on the sheets that were supposedly cleaned. Was double charged by the merchant as well and when I called to ask for clarification the merchant was rude and spoke down to me as if I was stupid and not understanding.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Off season stay - It was not near any safe convenient store or deli for coffee, etc and there were some shady guests there off season and the price was much too high for no frills and it was on a very busy highway so no walking anywhere.
- Anthony (8/5): Nicely renovated budget motel. - Our first stay here in a few years. Holly Hill has been significantly upgraded since our last stay. Fully renovated. The rooms are still on the small side, but they are now freshly painted, new soundproof windows, large flat screen TV, electronic locks on the door, the fridge/freezer, microwave, furniture, beds and bath have all been replaced and modernized.
- Juan (10/5): - Clean and comfortable
- Todd (8/5): - Room was very clean and well-maintained. Bed was firm. Staff was very informative & pleasant.
- John (10/5): - My stay there was quite comfortable, room was clean very clean and I felt safe also want to thank the staff for going above and beyond by bringing packages to my room and genuine concern for my welfare! Thank you so much to all the staff!
- Ibrahim (10/5): - It was clean
- Julianne (8/5): - You get what you pay for.
I will say, the rooms are updated and clean.
The outside of the rooms are very well lit.
There are definitely some questionable occupants with even more questionable vehicles making it feel rather unsafe to sleep and leave your car outside. We were legitimately concerned our car would be sitting on cinder blocks in the morning. Not to mention the noise from being on the highway.
- Verified traveler (4/5): No Hot Water - Paper-thin blanket
Stained towels (cleaned, yet very stained)
ZERO HOT WATER
TV didnt work properly
Friendly, responsive front desk man
- Jay (10/5): - It's reasonable place to stay
- Charles (6/5): - The rooms were clean and newly renovated, nice new TVs, but could have used a table or chair. The parking lot could use some work, a whole repaving, but for the low cost for the night and proximity to Sandy Hook, it was worth staying there for a few nights. A bit noisy being right on the main road, but didn't hear any noise from other folks staying there, which was a plus. Also close to a lot of stuff in the area.
- Craig (6/5): Not worth the price - Broken door jambs, very noisy, uncomfortable bed and pillows. Sub par for the price they charge
- Kelly (2/5): - Could barely understand guy at check in, charged me extra $25 they don’t tell you about anywhere else as a “security deposit”. Room smelled, air conditioner was disruptive and sounded broken or on the verge of breaking, every single linen was stained (bedsheets, towels, everything), flies and gnats were abundant in the room. Overall, it’s a you know what hole. For the amount I paid and the fact that I only stayed 2 nights, I’m horrified. Overcharged and very very underimpressed. If you have nowhere better to stay, I’d still suggest sleeping in your car over this place. If you do stay here, never take off your shoes or you might contract something. I want a refund so bad.
- Rashaune (2/5): - An overall privacy breach with noise outside took place antagonizing me . Was awful for me .
- Kiyomi (2/5): - The guy gave me a bad attitude when I was checking in. This is the 2nd time here and I do not recommend. Will not come back to Holly Hill Motel
- Regina (10/5): - Property management is was very nice and helpful
- Georgi (4/5): PolaR Experience: amazing room/s, terrible service - Cons first- the staff member that checked me in and out, likely the owner who lived above the stairs was extremely unfriendlt and acted bothered by the fact that i needed to be checked in and out. VERY strange fella. No words like hello, thank you or goodbye were used. He looked at me with eother intimidation or fear and was extremely short with his responses and rude in tone. I literally had no damn requests. The entire place was in very bad shape from the outside, and it looked dangerous, dirty and decrepit. There were many signs arpund on what not to do, similar to what i imagine to be a halfway house. Lastly, the TV did not work, ans neither did the coffee machine. I wanted a coffe in the am and a movie in the evening- but that was not happening. There was shampoo, but no conditioner. Now to the good- the room itself was in fantastic condition, newly renovated, beautiful, confortable and with a great layout. It was clean as if the president could walk in. In fact, i was shocked and i wish to get my house in that order and look! It was 5 star worthy within the door- and with 0 bugs. It was stone tiles and not carpet! Modern and easy to clean. Spacious. However, the service was so atrocious, and with the nin-working appliances (plugged into outlets that worked), it takes away the human touch and bare necessities. I wish this room existed in each of my stays, but i dont wish the bad service upon my enemies.
- Jeanny (8/5): - Very nice and clean
- Kenneth (6/5): - I was conservative on this trip, so I got what I paid for.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - They need places to put our suitcases, hangers
and a closet, phone, clock, enough towels, tissue and sizable bars of soaps.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfortable Rendezvous - Wow, I had such a pleasant and surprisingly good experience! The property has been renovated and, although it's not a 5 star resort (I mean, it's a Motel after all), the comfort and affordability are unmatched. It's become our little hideaway for me and my husband. Great little rendezvous. The front desk check-in was super friendly. Bring your own shampoo and toiletries. I also sprayed fragrance spray as I didn't realize I booked a smoking room (that was my mistake). Otherwise the room was clean. I would absolutely recommend it to others, but I also kind of want to keep it our little secret. 😉
- Thomas (2/5): - Me and my sister stayed for 2 nights. Now this is my first time booking a hotel so I found this little spot for an affordable price. Now at first it looks like a nice little spot but the bedcovers had stains and cigarette burn holes, finger prints and hand prints on the walls. Found a condom box in the drawer with an opened condom wrapper in the box. And when my sisters car wouldn’t turn on, they told her to move it for cleaning but when she couldn’t turn it on they basically kept nagging her asking to move it even though she couldn’t. One man then came to her car and tried rolling her windows up since they blew dirt in and on top of her and her car. But the people that were there doing maintenance (3rd party company) offered to help her jump the car and even made sure she was gonna be okay after they left the premises. The one employee of the hotel that was rushing my sister even told her “you don’t have jumper cables?” And when she responded with “no, do you?” He said “I run a hotel not an auto shop”. I recommend that if you come here please please please request new CLEAN bedding and make sure that your bed doesn’t have any unwanted “fun” stains from previous tenants or just bring your own sheets.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Amazing sleep ! - Pleasantly surprised . Absolutely amazing king sized bed. Very clean... definitely would recommend.
- Melissa (10/5): - You can definitely tell that they recently renovated the rooms. The roomis fairly modern looking despite it being an older motel.
- Tinsle (8/5): - Rooms were very clean and nice good location. Hard to understand check in guy
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We stayed at this property because it was close to a concert venue. The room was basic but very clean. For the price, it was well worth the value.
- Renee (6/5): - Drove past it twice because the sign wasn’t lit and it was dark. Check in person was very curt and did not speak English and got mad that I didn’t know what he was saying. Check out staff was very nice.
- Alicia (6/5): One time only... - First at check in there is a $25 room cleaning deposit that they didn't tell you about. The room was fine. large, clean. Door did not fit frame properly and at night the light from outside shown right in. I booked a 2 night stay. Half a roll of toilet paper. 2 towels, 1 washcloth and 1 bath mat. Toiletries were smaller then small. 1 tiny bar of soap, 1 packet of body wash and 1 packet of hand lotion. again packets not mini bottles. Then at 2 am the fire alarm goes off. I don't think it was going off in every room as there were maybe 15 people outside. and they had a sign saying no vacancies. No management to tell us anything. I went in and rang their doorbell and told them .They never came out to talk to their guests. 20 MINUTES THE ALARM WAS GOING OFF AND THEY NEVER ONCE SAID ANYTHING TO US. They also never said anything the next AM at checkout. The guy in the next room said "ive been here about 2 months and this happens frequently but it usually only last a couple minutes"
- David (8/5): - The motel is being renovated and is an excellent value. Room is fairly small and there is a lack soap and shampoo in the room. The room could have been cleaned better but it was not terrible
- AMANDA (10/5): - Very nice room and staff are great
- Isabella (6/5): - Towels were dirty and we had to keep going back for toilet paper. Were given new towels and they were still filthy. The bed sheets also had dried blood on them.
- joseph (10/5): - Location is great. Adaquate for a motel.
- Radmila (8/5): - New owners/management. They cleaned up really nicely. Rooms are clean, beds comfortable, and the location is very convenient for Sandy hook and other beaches in the area.
- David (4/5): One of the worst - I usually stay at budget motels when I travel, so I don't have high expectations at all, but this was one of the worst motels I've stayed in. For $166, I expected more. The night before, I stayed at a $65 motel that was better than this one. The floor was filthy. I had to put a towel down to wipe my feet off before getting into bed. Maybe that's why the towels were stained because other guests have to do the same thing? You only get 3 towels, by the way, and the soap is about the size of a vanilla wafer, so bring your own. The wifi didn't work at all in my room #7. The TV didn't work either. So I had nothing to do. A few positives were the bed was OK, the water was warm, and the air conditioning worked. It was a bit odd that they called my house twice to ask if I was coming. I wasn't even that late to check-in. I arrived around 7pm. Communication with the front desk was difficult to say the least. Avoid this place, if possible.
- Peggy (6/5): - It wasn’t very clean, the towels had like dirt mark stains on them. If you needed the staff you couldn’t find them.
- FRANCHESKA (2/5): - The room smelled like horrible nauseating cheap chalone the bed sheets were stained so bad I've never seen such dirty sheets and blankets I stayed for one hour and left
- Marty (2/5): - Clean The Rooms!Put clean linens and more then one.
- Guy (8/5): - I appreciate this price that we could afford! We cannot afford $300-400 per night
- Leon (10/5): - Shore location, clean and simple
- lisa (10/5): Surprisingly Pleasant and Modern Rooms - Place doesn’t look like much for 1st impression and older front desk gentleman is unfriendly (younger lady is very nice), but the room is all newly remodeled, painted and clean. It was a pleasant surprise that it was so nice. Comfortable bed, new bathroom with spacious vanity, large TV, inexpensive, and convenient 20 min drive to beaches. We liked it so much that we added a day to our stay. Suggestions to the motel: add luggage rack, add closet bar rack to wall for hanging clothes, add hooks on wall behind door for jackets, add a door seal as the gap let in noise, add a blow dryer and iron, add hand towels.
- Rosa (4/5): - there was what looked like pubic hair al over the bed and pillows. Everything was stained, including the mattress pad. The floor stained our feet with yellow dirt, they gave us half a roll of toilet paper for three days.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Who is the new guy working the front? He’s awful. - I usually enjoy my stay, however there is a new man working the front. He is extremely slow at processing everything and he’s not polite. The bedding and towels are thin, so I suggest bringing an extra pillow or blanket for more comfort. When I asked for an additional towel, since they only have two and a single wash cloth in the room, he refused unless I gave him the others, as though I wanted to steal his thread bare white towel which barely covers me (I’m 5’). There was white dust from construction in almost every corner, and behind furniture. My feet became dirty from one walk to the bathroom without my slides on, so bring house shoes too.
I was happy they had added a microwave to the room from my last trip. My prior visits were much better, there was a couple working the front last time I stayed. Much more pleasant experience.
Overall, this visit left me less than satisfied.
