Bonne ambiance

Bravo - Son cachet historique. Ras
- Michele (8/5): - Camera pulita . Edificio coloniale molto caratteristico Le zone comuni quali ristornate e bar potrebbero essere meglio organizzate e arredate
- Laurent (10/5): Je suis un habitué + fan - J’adore l’ambiance. Personnel hyper sympa.

- Lori (7/5): Pretty and Central - The hotel is very central. The rooms are large and have beautiful balconies. Unfortunately, the hot water was not working and neither was the coffee machine in my room
- Sisse (8/5): Very good - Stunning location
- Nicolas (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dominique (8/5): Very good -
- Chris (8/5): Good location - Beautiful building in a superb central location, and the room was very nice.. Breakfast was tasty but very small Staff didn't seem very helpful/engaged.
- Miller (10/5): Exceptional - Great location and ambience Everything was great
- Christine (10/5): Great place to stay - Nice centrally located hotel. Food menu is basic but delicious.
- chasam212 (8/5): At the Center of it All - A welcoming historic building to stay in, and ground zero in terms of being a a social center, with massive big rooms to stay in. Be aware that there is no full time receptionist though. There is always someone around though, usually from the restaurant, and they are very pleasant, but busy. The other plus is that there is always someone who speaks some English, which is a big help for a tourist with non-existent French. The bathroom was a little beat up though, with a broken tap and a shower that had some damage on the stall floor. For what they charge I would think it would be in a little better shape. But with my park facing room it was nice to sit out on the small balcony and admire the view, which help to make up for some shortcomings.
- Pavel (9/5): A very good option to choose where to stay in Cayenne. - Big and quiet rooms, good air condition, a very good restaurant for lunch or dinner. The situation is excellent right on the main square and the colonial touch of the building is well maintained. Perhaps the breakfast could have more options as it is very French (only baguette or croissant with tee/coffee), but there was a tasty juice made from local fruits.
- Frederic (6/5): Not the level expected for a 3 star hotel, but in Cayenne town cen it is still a good place to book. - Air conditionning, big room, nicely set up. Good restaurant when open No elevator, hole in the bed sheet, shower holder broken
- Steven (8/5): Excellent location - Probably the best location in Cayenne.
Cool old building Tough climb to the third floor
- Chris (8/5): Very good -
- Sean (9/5): Superb - Perfect location and comfortable room in Cayenne. Super unique place to stay. Great staff and restaurant too. Shower was a bit dated.
- traveltalesofales (6/5): Heritage Charm -
The hotel is housed in a lovely heritage building, which by itself is a sightseeing tourist attraction. The property alludes charm and character from every nook and corner - be it the lovely restaurant and killer terrace seating, or the decor of the room and the common areas. Definitely, the best option in town, if you are looking for a historic vibe but don't want to splurge a lot. However. the biggest letdown of the stay was the extremely poor connectivity. The Internet barely worked. Television never functioned due to very weak signals. And even the credit card machine was struggling because of weak connectivity. Apart from this, the hotel is a jewel in the old town. The reason i am giving 3 stars is because of the weak connectivity and the poor hospitality & service.
LOCATION: IN the very heart of the old town
DINE + DRINK: The Bar Palmistes is THE place in town - to see and be seen. The vibe in the evening (especially in the balcony) is just too fantastic to be missed!
ROOM: We stayed in Room 1, so this review is based on that; VIEW:Lovely view of the Place des Palmistes and the swinging Coconut trees and colonial buildings; SIZE: Spacious enough for 2 adults and simple baggage; AIR-CON: Perfectly functioning cooler that helped in setting the perfect room temperature; BED: Comfortable bed that played the expected part of putting me to sleep; BATHROOM: Stand-in shower; TOILETRIES: Cosmetics by L’occitane!
FACILITIES: No Gym or Pool, Pure Guyanese chill
SERVICE: Friendly staff that took care of all our needs with a smile, but in general the service levels of the restaurant and bar staff can improve a lot! Speed or service, attention to customers, and ability to tackle foreign visitors - all great areas for improvement!
- René (7/5): Nice hotel good location and alas one staff member (girl) being very rude. - Location was perfect. The room was spacious, clean and the beds very good.
Personnel (a guy) that checked us in was very friendly and supportive. In the evening we took a nice dinner in the hotel and staff in there was as well very friendly. The evening before we agreed with the guy who checked us in we could have a late check out (latest 14:00). So we had time to see the city. During our walk we got a call by a lady telling us we had to check out before 12:00. Despite explanations on what we agreed the evening before she was very rude stating we had to leave.
So we stopped our tour to check out.
- Peter (7/5): Good - It was in the centre of town, and the people were very friendly. There were also a lot of shops and historic buildings. A pleasant town. As it was over Christmas, they offered us an apartment instead of a room so we could cook for ourselves as all the restaurants were closed. So very helpful, and understood we weren't from the area. The wifi was terrible, but I think that is similar across the whole town, not just this hotel.
- ARS (8/5): - No front desk...someone in bar/restaurant try to help with any questions...LITTLE TO NO ENGLISH
- laurent (10/5): 3 nuits a cayenne - Une séjour de 3 nuits a cayenne. Un superbe établissement. Cadre magnifique.
- Calvin_the_traveler (4/5): Way too noisy - I stayed here only one night and it was a disaster. I could not sleep because of the noise. Fun place for a beer or a pizza but not so fun at bedtime! Staff was unresponsive to my concerns. I fled the next morning and found a much nicer establishment downtown Cayenne in a quiet neighbourhood.
- Nicholas (6/5): Poor night's sleep. - Did not sleep well because of window shutter banging all night. Also AC remote not working so not possible to even turn the AC off. Management unconcerned about these issues the next morning and certainly not apologetic.
Three flights of status to climv to room.
- ChrisA90B92 (10/5): Old world atmosphere - Les Palmistes is my favorite hotel in Cayenne. Where I feel like a traveler of the 1930s. Because of the old-fashion charm and character of this typical creole town house. Built in 1890, historical monument today.
In the early morning I’m used to have café crème and croissant on the quaint gallery and look at the passers-by on awakening Avenue du General De Gaulle
Open since 1830 the Bar des Palmistes has also a special soul. Ambience is hot around the table. Like in the popular open air restaurant in the back patio.
I like to stay in front bedrooms 1 or 2 where I can enjoy a nice view from the balcony over Place des Palmistes. Rooms are done up well, spacious, recently renovated, quiet, soundproofed, tastefully decorated in colonial style, cozy, with comfy beds, nice bathroom, original exotic wooden floor, window shutters.
Only one flaw, service is uneven.
But all in all I have a crush for Hotel des Palmistes.
- Paul (8/5): Decent place. - The restaurant is clearly the main business there. The room was not cleaned the second day and the wifi constantly goes off. The location is excellent and the rooms are beautiful.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Beware of room switch - Even though I had booked a city view room several months in advance, I was given the "dungeon room" on the ground floor in the back of the restaurant courtyard, which was dark, viewless and very noisy until about 2 in the morning. Not only that, but the price charged for the room was left unchanged! It's like booking first class on a plane and being forced to sit in the back of the economy section next to the toilets, with no refund given. When I asked to change rooms the second day I had to wait until 7 p.m. even though it was ready at noon. The ordinary room was nice, with no complaints. Also be aware that the English level of most of the staff (who are all basically mainly waiters at the restaurant) is not so high.
- tatjaho (6/5): Proper hotel and staff, amazing façade and location, mediocre service - Gorgeous villa and great location, nothing to add on those, they are ideal.
The rooms and bathrooms are modern, the beds very comfortable though the sheets don't always seem very clean (dirt or humidity?).
I'm glad All the staff is nice because the hotel doesn't offer much service : the reception is uncomfortable - no one stays behind the "front" desk (you have to wait or call the attention of any waiter happening to run by), which is by the way tiny and almost in the way of the restaurant, no one shows you the room, much less helps with the luggage, no information is provided in the rooms about the hotel either ; and the rooms cleanup is not very thorough. It's as if the hotel activity was a side job for the restaurant personnel...
Fortunately I'm not fazed by that. However, I was bothered by the noise : the rooms are not at all sound proof so by the evening you hear all the night's life - the hustle and bustle of the bar downstairs and the place des Palmistes over the street, the screeching of the garbage truck, the voices of passersby who won't sleep at night...
3 stars because you can hardly see more beautiful in Cayenne, not more because the hotel would need to step up its game.
- Chris (10/5): Classy Colonial Hotel in the center of the city! - Historical hotel well preserved and maintained in the center spot of the city. Great hotel veranda with restaurant to be seen at with a cool drink. Overlooking spacious park with mature palm trees.
- Andre (10/5): - Very good service
Room are nice, large and clean
Good location
Restaurant : sophisticated but taste just ok
- Verified traveler (10/5): Great location - Nice hotel in town with good restaurant. It was listed as multilingual staff but we had alot of trouble finding someone who who spoke enough English to get to Devil's Island and pay our bill (we couldnt find Spanish or German speakers either). We had emailed requesting an airport shuttle to meet our 3 am flight...was told someone would meet us & it would be 30 euro. No one was there & we were lucky to find a taxi at almost double and the driver back was 50 euros. Alex was willing to put the shuttle to Devil's Island and airport on a credit card. Good pizza & hamburger ( only things we understood om the menu)...Wish there had been English on the menu.
- MyworldMimundo (4/5): Staff ruin the lovely building - Perhaps the owner and manager were away, but this has got to be the worst service experience in a hotel. Self absorbed staff with zero interest for the clientele. We arrived and it took 15 minutes for a girl to come to the check in, she knew we were there but was too busy sitting ta a table chatting to a man. Finally came, no hello, no nothing. Told her we had a booking and our name, handed us the key and that was it. Did not even make us fill a form, show us the room, explain anything. The room as the hotel is tastefully designed, the room is spacious, comfortable and with upscale toiletries. A curtain and other small things were missing. Internet is bad, off most of the time. They have loud live music at the restaurant so you don't get a good night's sleep. The property has so much potential but first they must train or fire their pretentious staff to be an international standars establishment.
- piano45 (8/5): Pleasant seating for Sundowners - Ideally placed for a good view of the Place de Palmists. Hand pumped Heineken and all manner of Cocktails. Snacks nibbles and main-courses very reasonably priced. Be sure to check that the waiter understands which you want.
- panamaross (8/5): Carnival in Cayenne - This hotel is right across the street from the Place des Palmistes and are room had a balcony and overlooked the park. The rooms are really done up well, with good beds, refrigerator and a really nice bathroom (no elevator). The manager of the hotel did everything he could for us. We originally paid for 3 days and we asked to change the 3 day to another day as we had to return to Cayenne. It was done without any problem.
You can have breakfast at a cost of 9 Euros, but don't expect to much for what you pay. French Guiana is part of France and everything costs about the same as in France.
- ElizabethJK (8/5): Nice hotel in a good location - This is a new hotel that has opened above the popular bar/restaurant on the ground floor. The room was fine, with a nice balcony with superb views over the Place des Palmistes. This location puts you right in the center of Cayenne.
At first I was a bit worried about security, as anyone can get to the hotel floor by entering the property through the side gate, and the bar/restaurant is also very busy. But at night the side gate and, I think, the front door were locked.
I stayed on a Friday night and there was a concert in the Place des Palmistes until about 10pm, which was a bit noisy when I was trying to get an early night.
The woman on the front desk when I checked in spoke English, and arranged a taxi to go to the airport the next day.
If you want peace and quiet without a lot of comings and goings, this may not be the right place for you. But if you're OK with this atmosphere, the location and views are unbeatable in Cayenne. I would stay here again if I came back to Cayenne.
