Guest Reviews
- Andrew (2/5): - The room was sparse. Only 1 overhead light in the room, no table lamps near the beds. Sheets looked clean, but one bed had a sheet with a burn in it and the other had some strands of hair inbetween . Bathroom was ok, but as a tall person I found dirt on the higher areas (my eye level). I did see a roach as I was getting my stuff together to leave. Not worth the money I saved.
- John (8/5): - Had a good 2 nights rest there.
- John (8/5): - I had a good stay they some cable issues but overall it was good.
- jon (10/5): - Old school Route 66 vibe. Nothing fancy. Nice bed, great shower. Lots of hot water
- JOHN (8/5): - I had a clean safe place to stay for a night. Just wanted to say thank you too the staff. š
- John (8/5): - It is the most convenient place for me. I would like the owner to try to keep it open.
- Diane (6/5): Appropriately priced - Quiet and respectful neighbors, but loud train right across the street went by three times. A fancy soap caddy was created, but the busted bathroom door frame would not allow door to latch. Extra role of toilet paper was provided, but the spring loaded bar was missing from the dispenser. Nice clean room, but exceptionally small with no chair to sit in. I saw ten baby roaches which had hatched out in the bathroom, but the shower and sink plumbing worked marvelously and had good water pressure. The TV required instructions to use, but the extensive number of channels and variety offered was impressive. And the MOST important things were that there were no bed bugs, and no one broke into our car overnight. Colonial Hotel was within our budget and we were happy to pay it.
- Terence (6/5): Colonial Motel - Clean rooms and staff was helpful. Location was convenient and overall, was okay.
- Kayleb (10/5): - Manager/owner are very polite good people
- Arlene (10/5): - Nice
- Pedro (4/5): Strangers in The Night - Roaches came out late night unfortunately did not notice after 2 squash mid bathroom relief. Also near bed bud carpet darkk brown ooor black masquerade seeing them...
- Jon (10/5): - For a budget motel it's great for the money.
Clean and quiet
- Jerry (10/5): - Nice staff clean room and bathroom
- Phil (10/5): - ok
- Phil (10/5): - ok
- Richard (8/5): - Room was reserved and ok , but had no table and chairs š
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Wifi did not work. Zzz
- April (4/5): - The rooms were very dirty but they were at least remodeling most rooms while we were there. Staff was extremely rude. Very unfriendly
- shandell (6/5): Shower curtain? - The shower didnt have a curtain to keep water from splashing all over the restroom floor. Only 2 towels were therr, and not looking properly cleaned
- Thomas (4/5): - The bed was a bit uncomfortable. There was some glass left on the floor. A lot of hair in the bed, so the sheets were not changed.
- Kerri (4/5): - Ok
- Austin (10/5): Good price - Nice clean lil room with very affordable rates.. other than the barking dog next door, it was peaceful
- Kyle (2/5): - This place was disgusting. The first room I was shown had not been cleaned. There were hairs in the bed and eyelashes on the pillow. I asked for another room and it was the same. Dirty sheets, filthy floors. I then asked for a refund and went elsewhere. I have high tolerance for below-average motels, but this place doesn't even wash the sheets. Horrible place. Stay anywhere else.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dont stay here - Had trouble checking in(that shouldve already been my 1st sign to cancel). The sheets were never changed there was still crumbs and hair from previous clients. The TV didnt work. I also shouldve taken pictures all yucky.
Dont stay here.
- Patrick (8/5): No microwave and fridge - It was clean but the room is small and on description says there is fridge and microwave but there is none. The staff r helpfull though.
- Antalena (10/5): - Employees were very helpful. Also all employees were very š
- David (2/5): - I had to switch rooms 2 times. The first room they put me in was under construction. Second room they put me in was no where near clean and had rat droppings in the bed. Finally the third room was cleaner but the tv didnt work. Staff was not very friendly when I brought up these issues. Better off spending the extra money and getting a room somewhere else. This place reminded me of a crack hotel. I will not be staying here again.
- Ebynie (10/5): - The place itself is great, but the fast food around town sucks, so if you're going to stay, find an actual restaurant or get food before you get here
- Philbert (10/5): - The price for the motel
- Myrtis (2/5): - no microwave no help
- Luis (10/5): - Very friendly
- Alex (6/5): Price is good - Small rooms know where to hang your clothes
- Antonio (8/5): - Downtown walking distance
- Herman (10/5): Small room but adequate and clean. - The room was smaller than usual but worked for our overnight stay. No chair in the room although there was a small desk type area where one would have been helpful. The exterior door bolt lock didn't work (but the knob lock did) The bathroom door didn't latch because a piece of the jamb was broken off but that didn't matter to us. We didn't use the tub/shower but it seemed fine. It was a good value for the money overall. The room and bathroom were clean.
- Tyshiko (6/5): - This is a good place to stay if you just want a quick getaway or something on the go services is great come on by
- Steven (10/5): - Itās an older motel, obviously. But our room was very nice, clean and spacious, and best of all, smelled clean and naturalāeven better than most of the more expensive motels. I was impressed. The surrounding area and railroad tracks close by was a little questionable, but we had zero problems.
- Jason (10/5): - Inexpensive and clean
- Josephine (8/5): - Overall clean
- Josephine (4/5): - I would recommend for a single traveller not for a family due to unsafe area and the outside area was dirty but our inside room was clean with uncomfortable beds, mine had no legs so the comforter touched the floor - my son felt unsafe due to the presence of police, firetruck, & ambulance and the room looked like it was converted to a room from a laundry room due to florescent lighting narrow doorway and we had a corner room with another room like a hidden corner with wooden platform at the entrance - but overall inside the room was clean & the a/c worked fine, no bugs or smoky smell.
- Norman (10/5): - Nice and quiet
- Chandra (2/5): - The lady kept telling us to turn off the air conditioner. Mattress was old and hard. Pillows were flat. Got cold too. All we had as a blanket was a sheet. Never sleeping there again.
- Raymond (4/5): - Smoke detector kept chirping. Told them and nothing was done. Got woken up at 1:30 a.m. by noisy in next room.
- Johnathan (2/5): - I did not like my stay here it was dirty and unsafe and the manger was no help. If anything I don't suggest this place.. I paid for 3 days but got charged for 2 days..
- Bridget (6/5): - Not very welcoming. In a hurry to close office at 3:45pm.
- Herbert (4/5): Ok to just sleep - Dirty floor, walls, door. Damaged laminate furniture.
Bed and shower clean, bath towel was not.
No coffee maker.
- Dean (10/5): - Inexpensive and perfectly fine.
- Chris (10/5): - The check-in was quick and easy. Rooms are clean, the price is very reasonable.
- Ehren (4/5): My stay - The lady and man, who I believe are the owners were friendly and helpful. However, the hotel rooms were not clean or properly prepared for guests. My first room had to be changed because it was dirty and smelled fully and my second room was not very clean and was missing some things such as toilet paper/toilet paper hanger, and there was no towel rack. I was also concerned to sleep on the bed because the sheets were full of stains. I will probably not be returning to this place.
- Robin (10/5): - Well when I check in it was dirty and so left everything the way it was
- Lawrence (8/5): Great stay except for one guest - So this is an older hotel near the train tracks and right on historic Route 66. Overall a pleasant stay. The staff/owners were nice and accommodating. Ample parking with one space per room. The room was very clean so you know the owners do take pride in cleanliness. The room had older desk and comforter but still not bad. Restroom/bathroom very well updated. Only downside that I need to add was I believe some of the guests may be long term tenants so they do have their doors open. Sadly the neighbor to us played his music in his room until about 2am and some guy in the parking lot was screaming explatves at 2:30am. Although my wife and son slept through it made me a bit concerned about safety. This really isnāt the hotels fault and possibly to be expected with the diverse guests you have at a budget hotel. Overall a good stay and would be above average, 6-7/10.
- BOTIELUS (10/5): - Great for what it is!!!
- Driscoll (8/5): - Fsst check in
- travelinlife4me (2/5): Run, don't walk away from this place. - Booked the Colonial Motel based on recent reviews that it was ok. It was very inexpensive, so my expectations were low. Clean would have met expectations When checking in. I was told my room was next door at the Ranchito Motel they owned. Don't know why, but based on the Ranchito I doubt the Colonial could have been much better. Room key card didn't work so owner replaced batteries in the door and then still had to get a new card. TV remote only turned TV off and on. Housekeeper showed me how to change channels on a box on the side of the TV and that was that. Floor and most flat surfaces were dirty. Original towels were disgusting, some type of faded orange stains. I don't want to guess what that color started out as. Housekeeper must have known the condition and brought replacements without being asked. Big dogs that were kept on the property barked some during the night, but I was very tired and it didn't bother me much. I wish I had slept in my car instead of this place.

- Corbin (10/5): - Love the prices
- Corbin (8/5): - Everything like your prices
- Katherine (10/5): - Just what I neededā an inexpensive motel close to the highway. There was free WIFi, a fridge and a microwave too. A great bargain!
- Jason (8/5): - This property is excellent for the price. Walkable to stores, restaurants, and train station. Checkin was easy and fast. The rooms of this classic motel have all been remodeled and updated. Bathroom is very nice. Property is very clean. I agree with other reviewers that the bedspreads need replacing. I plan to stay here again in a few days. The only problem I had was some random woman knocking at my door asking for a lighter and to use my phone. Keep doors securely locked.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I have no complaints. Every time I stay here I am treated politely, my room is clean, and it is quiet enough that I can get work done.
- bryan (8/5): - Decent place to stay when passing through. Price is right.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The gentleman who checked me in was great, understanding and capable. The room was clean, and the rate was great.
- Raymond (10/5): - Friendly, quiet.
- Robert (2/5): - There were people spray painting bikes outside which made our room smell like spray paint, the phone and electrical jacks were all caked with dried something or other. The heater barely worked there was no cold water in the shower so it was skip shower or have a scorching hot shower. There was dried blood all over the makeshift bedside table, the beds were extremely hard and had springs digging into us all night! Other than all those things it was decent-ish. I would sleep in my car or go more expensive than stay there again!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The check in/ checkout process was done outside the office through a window with a small opening (which has to be opened by staff inside)ā¦. made me wonder is the neighborhood not safeā¦.
- Andrea (10/5): - The price was in are range
- Shannon (6/5): - was a nice cozy place and quiet, but there were bugs walking on the floor and in the restroom. and little flies flying around which I don't know where they came from.
- Sven (2/5): - Just donātā¦..
- Mary (10/5): Very clean and comfortable - The room was very clean, bathroom smelled fresh and was spotless.
- Joel (10/5): - The best
- Cornelia (2/5): Bed bugs - July 29. 2023. Check in. Sevice was good. The bed. Alot bed bugs. š A very lond noisy due to the train. Every hour. š
- joseph (6/5): - There was a roach in the room, and they didn't clean behind the refrigerator. The Towels are stained. Check out is abnormally early at 10:00am.
Staff is friendly and available.
- Roger (6/5): - Small rooms, but good price.
- Patti (2/5): - This was the worst motel Iāve ever seen. The room we were given was already occupied, and the place was filthy. The ā Managerā was a little out of it and seemed not to care if we stayed or not. We canceled our reservation needless to say and went somewhere else.
- Darin (2/5): - I reserved a room a month in advance and showed up to a no vacancy sign. She pulled up my reservation and everything and still turned me away. She didn't even apologize. This was the worst motel experience I've ever had. Upon reflection, I'm glad I didn't give them my money. Everything was trash, including the people. Go to the next town and avoid this place like the plague!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Comfy Hideaway - Pleasant surprise .. driven thru Gallup on busines trips to Albuq/S. Fe many times.. first time I decided to stay in Gallup. Great little hide-away just off the main drag (Route 66). Room was clean and comfortable
- Brian (8/5): - Was ok
- Starla (2/5): - The room was dirty not clean like somebody was living in there before the sheets were dirty I had to clean the room myself so all in all was nasty
- James (2/5): - The room was like a large closet with a bathroom. Furniture was scrap junk. I wouldn't have stayed there for free. The desk lady said the place was remodeled and the best around. I found a place down the road that was very, very good for the exact same price: $49.50.
- John (8/5): - Out side didnāt look nice but inside was recently upgraded if you like trains this is the place to stay
- Julian (2/5): - They wanted us to pay 10$ extra for each kid. Never experienced that before every hotel/motel kids stay free under 17.
Front desk was rude and the energy was really off
- bryan (6/5): - Reserved a room with a king size bed. Got to the room and it was only a full size. So needless to say the 2 of us didnt sleep very well
- Deborah (4/5): - The motel room was very outdated. The "one" bath towel was thin and ripped. The wash cloth was old and very stained. Our room next door was given to occupants that used it as a place to party ALL night.
- Qiuhua (4/5): - Wifi doesn't work at all, the room is full of dirt. The sheets and pillows are dirty. The water is not very clean. No hair dryer, no hangers.
- christopher (2/5): Nasty unsafe area of Gallup. - Bed bugs . Filthy. Broken glass on floor. Blood on light fixtures , uncomfortable . People banging on the door all hours .drug traffic . I would give it a zero. Awake all night because very bad area and afraid of being attacked and or broken into.
- Peggy (4/5): - The bed sheets were dirty and stained. The staff assigned a different room when no housekeeping person showed up. They even helped us move. The new room had a crack pipe on a window sill.
- Gayle (6/5): -
my towels were not clean. the toothpaste residue on the wall in the bathroom was not mine. wifi was not accessible. homeless person was wandering in area and asked me for money 2 times.
you get what you pay for
- Lawrence (6/5): - WiFi didn't work. Cellular coverage doesn't work well when inside room.
- Yoshito2 (10/5): Nice Place - I was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. When I entered the room, it was very nice and clean. It seemed as if they remodeled not too long ago. Just stayed for one night as I was just passing by. Will come back again if Iām in the area!
- Steve (4/5): - Did not have the two reserved rooms available when I tried to check in!
- Mitchel (2/5): - I couldnāt even stay in this room because it was so disgusting and dirty there was flies everywhere big house flies all over the place all over the curtains all over the ceiling all over the bed it smelled bad the bathroom was disgusting there was holes in the towels. I left this place and went and slept in my truck because there was no way I was sleeping in this disgusting room I want my money back in full!
- Tammy (6/5): - Homeless in the area digging in trash and just hanging around the area. Room are ok. Cleaning could be better and you can hear your next door neighbors all odds of the night laughing, drinking hanging out. But was a good stay for just one night.
- Mark (2/5): Don't go - Very disappointed. I got attitude at check in. The room was sparse. Tv didn't work and i didn't have a remote. Towels were torn. Black hairs were everywhere. And i'm blond! And burn holes in the pillow cases
- Thomas (8/5): - it was worth the price certainly, but the grounds were dirty and the area a little industrial
- Verified traveler (8/5): Momo - Seemed okay to me but the train can be a little loud at times.
- Maggie (2/5): - We were greeted by a drunk guy sitting in his doorway as we got out of our vehicle to check in. We paid and got our room key, but my spouse was so put off by the drunk that we left and went to a nicer hotel for the night. Returned the next morning to turn in my key card, and left.
- Yonoso (2/5): just rude. - I've stayed in a lot of motels, but what I experienced here is beyond the scope. The person in the office: a paragon of insolence. not even a modicum of good manners. When I pointed out misunderstandings in their price offer, the answer from this unspeakable person was just a F..y...
- Douglas (10/5): - Nice and clean.
- David (10/5): - This is a great property for the price.
- christy (2/5): - Made reservations for the colonial was put in the hotel next door called the Ranchito. Owned by same people? Loud at night with random people walking through the lot. Drinking and ? By the dumpster. Did not feel safe!
- jenny (2/5): - They didnt even have my room ready when i got there. Told them to cancel and i took my businesses somewhere else. Dont recommend.
