- D4065CGstevenh (8/5): Dormy Inn Abashiri – where tiny rooms meet big hospitality! - Dormy Inn Abashiri sits right beside a picturesque river &, at a mighty 9 storeys, is basically the Burj Khalifa of this quiet Abashiri town. We were given Room 705, a corner room that’s… tiny due to the structure of the building. And because of this, we later found that a humidifier is not fitted in this room compared to the other. Tip: avoid the x05 rooms unless you enjoy practicing minimalist living. But the river view? Gorgeous. The hotel is conveniently opposite a 7-11, aka Japan’s unofficial Michelin-star restaurant. Adding that with the hotel’s generous breakfast & nightly free ramen, you’ll never be hungry. Breakfast is a feast—sashimi, fresh tofu, veggie dishes, the region’s famous clam soup, freshly fried tempuras, & enough tea & coffee to power you through a snowstorm. Then from 9:30pm-11pm, the hotel serves their signature complimentary ramen. Miss it? No problem, the always-polite reception will hand you their own hotel’s instant noodle pack like it’s treasure. Parking is easy: outdoor spots usually fill up after 5pm, but the hotel’s multi-storey auto-parking lift (very Japanese Drift vibes) stores your car safely for ¥800 a day. The onsen on the 9th floor is small but mighty. Indoor bath, a mini outdoor balcony bath, cold plunge, sauna, & even a manga lounge outside the common room. In the evenings, there’s free ice cream; in the mornings, free Yakult. Help yourself to as many as your conscience allows. Laundry is also up there. Washing machines are free with detergent, dryers are only ¥100 p/20min. Our whole load cost ¥200. Absolute bargain. Overall, despite the tiny room, Dormy Inn Abashiri delivers huge value. We paid about A$150 for breakfast, onsen, ramen, parking convenience, & endless ice cream. A definite gem in Abashiri!
- Vidic15 (8/5): The ideal location - Was my first time to Abashiri, and glad I chose this hotel. A short walk to Abashiri Bus Terminal, for easy access to Memambetsu Airport and to the sightseeing buses as well. My room was clean and comfortable, breakfast was better than expected with a good range of hotel and cold items including some local specialties. Breakfast felt a step up from similar standard business hotels also. I appreciated the complimentary washing machine, and the dryer as well is good value for money. Plenty of good and inexpensive dining options nearby also.

- Ronald (8/5): - This is nice place to stay in Abashiri. It is right in the middle of town with a 7-11 across the street, on-site parking, and multiple restaurant options within walking distance. The service was very good with the staff being very friendly and helpful. The bed was small (a full size not a queen), but comfortable. The air conditioner did not work. The room was exceptionally small. I would stay here again, as long as the room had a working air conditioner during the summer!

- Wendy119186363 (8/5): Ideally placed, pleasant walk to Abashiri prison museum - We stayed 2 nights on the 5th floor, with breakfast Note, use your key card first to call the lift. We stood there like lemons for a short while before we realised! The call button will not register otherwise. The Onsen on the 9th floor is small yet welcome. There is a smaller one outside which is rather pleasant in the cool night air. Ice cream available on exit. The room is rather (western) unconventional in that the wash basin is in the bedroom over the fridge with the shower and loo in a separate room. Beds comfortable. Slippers and pyjamas provided. Breakfast is great. Lots of fish options including sashimi so I was very happy. Fresh fruit available.

- Mohammed1412 (10/5): Amazing - Very nice hotel with a 24-hour 7-Eleven across the street. I got the Japanese Style Room which was very interesting and quite spacious. The staff were very helpful and friendly but it seemed there were a number of Trainees so check-in and check-out took some time. I wanted to break a ¥10,000 note to pay the Taxi outside but I had to wait for the staff to finish checking other guests in despite there being 3 senior staff members behind them who could have helped. Staff were still helpful and extremely nice. There are many local (and one Italian) restaurants around. The bus terminal to/from the Airport and Prison is just a 4 minute walk away. There is also a food market across the bridge behind the hotel. There are vending machines and free water and coffee at the lobby. I heard the Onsen within the hotel is amazing but I haven’t tried it.
- Carlos Ismael (10/5): - Loved this spot mainly because of the great customer service. I wanted to visit this port town and it wasn’t too far from the JR Abashiri station. The staff was really friendly and helped us get a taxi going back to the station and also helped me find where to get a souvenir doll from the town. The room was nice. A little small, but that’s normal for Japan. It was clean. I liked the toothbrushes they give out and brush. The WiFi in the room worked well and there were a few plugs. The sauna on 9F is pretty great and even has an outside spa overlooking the snowy town. Really great way to start my morning before checking out. They also offer free laundry which I wish more hotels did. You only have to pay to dry your clothes. Recommend!

- Brun066 (10/5): Modern and elegant hotel, pleasant and functional spaces. - As the name suggests, this hotel has an onsen, or thermal bath inside. However, since we were only staying for one night and had to leave early in the morning, we were unable to use it. However, this did not prevent us from appreciating the modern and elegant character and the functionality of the hotel in all its spaces, both common and private (rooms, bathrooms). They indicate that the hotel is recent, or that it has been recently renovated. For this reason, I decided to give it the maximum score.

- Satoshi (8/5): 温泉ぬるい - 大浴場が気持ちよかった。ただ、個人的には、温度がぬるめ。40℃ないな。もう少し、熱くして。天然温泉と言っても沸かしていると思うので燃料費等大変でしょうが、温泉というからには、あんまり、ぬるいのは如何かなと思います。
- Yoshiko (10/5): - 早朝に出発してたため早めにホテルに着いて足をのばしたかった 部屋は高層階で景色も良くどこを見ても清潔感があって気持ち良かった。 温泉が良かったと友人に聞いていたので期待していた 泉質が良くて広さも充分もあり小さいながら開放感のある露天風呂が良かった。サウナもありとても満足した。 風呂上がりのアイスもスッキリしたしなんといっても深夜までずっと入れるのが良かった。 大きな温泉施設でもこのサービスは滅多にないのでゆっくりできた。 夜勤明けで出発し長時間の運転で足が浮腫んでいたのでフロントに相談したら固めの枕と羽枕の二種類を用意してくれ温泉に入ったあと足をあげて寝たら翌朝スッキリ目覚め足の浮腫も取れていて また楽しく旅を続けられた。 また網走に行く際にはぜひ利用させていただきたいと思う。 近隣にスーパーマーケットもあり便利 オホーツク流氷の道の駅も近くにあり立地が最高だった

- yuen ling (6/5): - The hotel itself is fine, it’s about 12 mins walk from JR station. The main problem is the area around JR Abashiri and the hotel. Before 11am and b/w 1430-1700hrs, you could not find any cafes /restaurants for breakfast, tea break and early bird dinner. It is not recommended for whom travelling by JR train/ intercity bus, without self-driving. Lost much time on connecting bus and train but no good meal as a return.

- Martina1888 (8/5): Dormy Inn Abashiri - The hotel is about 10-15min walking distance from the train station. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfy. There's a hot bath on the top floor and they provide you with patches to cover your tattoos if needed. The selection at the breakfast buffet was huge and everything was so delicious!

- simon_and_emma69 (8/5): Handy location - First up I'll be honest that the rooms are smal(ish), but certainly the room we had was on a par with city centre budget hotels and plenty big enough for a couple of nights. With that said, there's nothing else to fault about the hotel for what it offers at the price. Staff are friendly and helpful, there's a rooftop onsen which is large enough for the size of the hotel (even offering an outdoor pool) and free ramen supper if you fancy a late snack. The rooms are spotless and the location is very convenient for the rail and bus stations, the port and the main shops/restaurants with the bonus of a small supermarket just across the road. If we end up back in Abishiri we'll use this hotel again.
- yyduck22 (10/5): Convenient for winter trip - The hotel is located half way through the train station and ferry port for the icebreaker ferry (about 10min walk each way) which was convenient. There was free hot drinks facilities at the lobby, the hots pring/ sauna were especially useful in cold days, 3 mins walk there was a BBQ restaurant which could be the best in town, Within 5 minute walk there was a big supermarket and drug store just across the bridge. the room was small but very clean and tidy, and you could open the window a little for some fresh air.
- CanIGoWithYou (6/5): Small, clean room in a central location - Despite its remote location, Dormy Inn Abashiri is still a Dormy Inn and you get pretty much the same thing. Check-in and check-out were all very efficient. The double room was the same layout and size of the double room we've stayed in other Dormy Inns. It was very compact and we didn't have enough space to open up both of our luggages. It did have all the necessary amenities and enough power outlets. The onsen was also pretty much the same affair, but you most likely won't be able to enjoy the open-air onsen in -10c in other Dormy Inns. Given the room size, I would say it's a bit on the expensive side. But I might return if I visit Abashiri again given it's delivering a familiar experience.

- JAMESINTHAILAND (4/5): Worst Hotel I've Stayed at in Six Trips to Japan - Usually, hotels in the Dormy Inn chain are reliably ... OK. This one doesn't even rise to a level approaching mediocrity. As with many budget & business hotel chains in Japan, rooms in Dormy Inn hotels tend to be quite small, but this property really took the cake in that department. With two people in a room about the size of two aircraft lavatories, one person had to leave the room when the other wanted to get up and move, say, to the bathroom - really, no joke. We're talking tiny, Tiny, TINY! The internet was abysmal, the only place in Japan I've ever come across where connectivity was so bad, it was unusable 90% of the time. Nice public bath areas, but they were also tiny - in the men's spa, there was one indoor pool that could fit 3 people, and an outdoor jacuzzi - quite fun when it is below zero out! - that could fit two, provided you weren't strangers. The only reason I gave it a 2/5 instead of 1/5 was due to the very friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. GIVE THIS PROPERTY A MISS, I'm sure that there are many better choices in town.

- Verified traveler (10/5): Very nice hotel with brilliant onsen - This is a very comfortable hotel with friendly staff. We were on tge 8th floor and had a good view of the river. Breakfast was very good. Japanese style but with lots of choice. They also do free ramen in the evening, but was from 9.30pm so too late to be appealing to me. Lots of restaurants nearby, particularly doing seafood. The real benefit of the hotel was the onsen on the top floor. Wonderful views and even had an outdoor hot pool and a sauna as well as the usual baths. The sign did say no tattoos. I have a very small one on my foot and nobody said anything, however there were very few women in the onsen (i only saw one). My boyfriend said the male onsen was busier (probably because the hotel seemed to cater for trabelling businessmen). So if you habe a big/obvious tattoo, this hotel may not be for you.
- Nathan (8/5): Clean, well-located hotel with mediocre breakfast - The hotel was fine. It's a bit ridiculous that they charge (700 JPY) for parking outside in a lot behind the hotel when Abashiri is a small town with a plethora of free parking. Hokkaido is not like the rest of Japan and open spaces are all over. Parking should be free, but not a very big deal. Breakfast here was rather miserable. Everything served was either cool, room temperature or tepid at breakfast. For 1,500 JPY for adults that is just unacceptable. This breakfast was the biggest disappointment of the stay. Next time I'd just walk across the street and get an onigiri (rice triangle) at 7/11 for 110 yen instead.

- bari_ttc (8/5): rotenburo onsen! - Dormy inn never let me down, Room is cozy and the bed is comfortable. Dormy inn Abashiri also provide rotenburo onsen on the top floor. I recommend you to stay here and enjoy the onsen in winter season.
- Pinnpal (8/5): Ideal for the Bus Station. - A 5 minute walk to the bus station, where the airport bus and the tourist bus stop. I had a single room with a large bed. Tea making facilities. Excellent shower and high tech toilet Desk and WiFi. Big Breakfast buffet Japanese Style. Convenience store 7/11 across the road.

- 664carolync (6/5): Free parking two blocks away but staff said no - We arrived for a one night stay at passed 8 at night. We’ve booked three room for a night and I’m pretty sure i read free parking on the website I used. When they requested us to park the car at the vertical parking lot next to the hoteland charged us 700yen (not a lot I know), I asked the staff shouldn’t parking be free when we are here to stay. He insisted that there’s none. When we went out for dinner in town, which is two mins away, there’s a free parking lot available for overnight stay guests. Probably the staff weren’t that good in English but I’m pretty disappointed in that.
- this_i_s_whye (8/5): Compact and comfortable - My double room size for a single is the smallest room I have stayed in but cosy enough for me and my cabin luggage. I particularly looked forward to the free onsen at the end of the day where I would get cleaned up and have a hot but relaxing soak. It is opened from 3pm till the next day 5am. You put on the attire provided in your room and bring along your towel and your own toiletries if you prefer. I would go back to my room for a nice cold beer after that.

- yEeVoNy25 (10/5): Cosy Room with Great Amenities.! - This hotel is about 10mins walk straight down from the train station and it is just a stonethrow from the bus interchange and some good eateries.! We stayed here as a foothold for our subsequent daytrips to Higashimokoto Moss Plhox park and Shiretoko- Shari. Although this is a relatively quiet town with little shops (A big supermart opposite the bridge, and some nice eateries / bakery/ shops selling basic necessities, etc), Dormy Inn provided us a home away from home experience with complementary hot drinks and soba and a small but comfy hot spring area at the top level. Not the biggest room we have stayed during our trip, but for the money paid, the cleaniness and amenities and helpful staff is more than we can ask for. Not to mention, a great location.!
- kirstyjane (10/5): Perfect - Stayed 1 night. Everything was spot on... friendly, clean, location and amenities. The onsen was fabulous. Parking cost 600 yen for one night. These was free coffee in the lobby and pot noodle after hours. Thank you and would highly recommend.

- Honey (8/5): - Overall the stay was nice. Good points were the rooftop onsen, free soba, and there is a sliding door that separates the bedroom and door entrance (it prevents the light from on-ing due to motion sensor). The pajamas provided are soft and comfortable. Discount tickets to certain museums available at Front Desk. Oh, they even let you check the status of your laundry via the room tv so you don't have to keep leaving your room to check if it is done or not. Bad points were 1) the aircon was horrible. The setting is fixed at 'warm room' and can no way be adjusted to 'cold room'. Front desk told me my only options were to either keep on and off the aircon as it will be slightly cooler when u on it, or to open the window. 2) Parking spaces within their premise is very limited and it is the automated kind where it goes into a lift. If your car is too big, then you have to park outside, behind the 7-11 opposite the road. This is also where you have to park if there isn't any space within the premise, so good luck if it rains.

- Daryl (10/5): Probably the most modern hotel in Abashiri. - Although a 10mins walk from the train station, location was not too bad considering there was a 7-11 directly opposite. Room was compact but neat layout and very cosy for two. Hotel also provided free hot/ice chocolate at the lobby area, which was a plus for us. Onsen experience was good too with both indoor and outdoor warm water baths, as well as an indoor cold water bath. Hotel gave a much more modern feel compared to the hotels in the surrounding area. Generally a positive experience.

Rooms are a little small and I assume targeted towards people staying for business, but the service is very professional and accommodating. The on-site onsen was an especially nice touch and the provided pajamas were surprisingly comfortable.
