Guest Reviews
- William (10/5): - Yes ,it is very accessible
- Verified traveler (4/5): You get what you pay for - TV did not work, floor was dirty and bed was very uncomfortable. If you need a place thats cheap and just for a night, it'll do, but would avoid unless you have no other options.
- Paula (8/5): -
- Rose (6/5): - Broken things like no ice, no plug for the bath tub, not enough electric outlets. The sink was dirty, the floor needed swept. The bedding was clean. The electric plugs kept falling out of the sockets. The gentleman who checked us in and out was very friendly once he verified who we were. The price was definitely right, it was quiet. We really liked our room's location but it was difficult for my handicapped friend to walk up the stairs (my fault for not requesting handicap-accessible room). The water temperature was definitely affected by others turning on/off their water which made showering an adventure. I would stay there again.
- Dawn (6/5): You get what you pay for... - The room accommodated our needs.
Plenty of hot water, A/c-Heat worked great and the fridge worked great.
The refrigerator, microwave and A/C were unplugged so we had to wait for the fridge to cool. I was not aware the room was for smoker's and the odor was very pungent.
Housekeeping was attentive and eager to please.
While searching for my grandson's lost marker lid we found a few treasures left from prior visitors including a bag of D&D dice behind the bed, a wrapped oatmeal creme pie behind the other bed and an empty tuna fish can under the tv stand! Not complaining just suggesting that housekeeping steps it up a notch when prepping for the next visitor.
As long as your tetanus shots are up to date, you're not sensitive to cigarette smoke, you enjoy a very firm mattress, and you have good knees for climbing the stairs you'll be fine!
Enjoy your stay at Gardos Motel!
- Darcy (10/5): Nice, clean affordable and nice staff - all good!
- keith (10/5): AGT would give it 4 YES'S - Nice to find a good motel at a good price! Would definitely return. People are the nicest and most helpful ever!
- Beverly (8/5): Old School American Value - It's an older place but it was very affordable. Our water is out at home so we came to shower, sleep in a clean bed and we didn't want to spend alot. The room is clean, and the best part is NO BUGS. We will probably be back next week (:
The office staff (probably the owners) was very accommodating and there wasnt alot of noise. Thanks yall for letting me change my room type even though it was my mistake at booking.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I booked a 4 night stay for work in town there. First night I slept fully clothed. Woke up the next morning fine no issues other than the beds being uncomfortable. The second night slept with my shirt off woke with bug bites all over my lower back. Didn’t have time to look for a new place due to work. The third night slept with a shirt on. Woke the next day with those same bites on my left arm which swelled up. Checked out a night early and slept in my car on my last night. Bc I refused to stay here another night. They never asked how the stay was they don’t give refunds either. So if you are looking to stay here probably book one night at a time. As for me I won’t step foot on that property again. Thank you.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Yolo - You get what you pay for, and sometimes a little bit more... like black hairs in the bed
- Joshua (10/5): Great service and nice hotel!! - It was great! There room was cheap but very clean and nice! The Bed was really big and super comfy, check in was quick and easy the hotel staff was really friendly i have zero complaints and will be staying here again!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - It's clean and quiet but. The owners are very nosy and rude and have to many ruled
- Henry (8/5): comfortable - nice spacey room very nice
- Heather (2/5): ot that great - Didn’t feel safe
- alva (8/5): Looking for a place to sleep - It was a hotel. Had a king bed, frig, micro and TV. It is an old hotel. Everything worked and the price was low. I would stay there again.
- Ash (10/5): - Very clean and great price at night you can sleep peacefully the owner doesn’t allow any drugs or trouble makers for the price you couldn’t find a better place to stay
- Marco (2/5): Un luogo senza dignità, sporco, fetido, orribile. Sconcertante.
- sheila (2/5): - It was horrible My son is covered up with bed bug bites!! Plan to turn this in to somebody to say beware outdated full of bed bugs I would like a refund or a credit for the stay was horrible. Thanks Sheila Young
- TA (4/5): - Alot of people live at this Motel..It was not very up to date. Alot of traffic in and out all hours . Pretty sure drugs are an isdue here..I personally wouldnt stay agsin..
- Richard (10/5): - This property had gotten some bad reviews, but this family does an incredible job of making your stay an hospitable experience. They are so kind and go out of their way to serve ypu.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very quiet.i would stay there more.freindly people😊
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Even tho it was packed it was quiet and relaxing the property was clean also
- Verified traveler (8/5): - It had a very small town feel. It was pleasant. The room was nice and well kept
- Mark (2/5): - Cockroaches. Peeling paint. Bad stench. Worst place I have ever stayed. How in the world did anyone give it more than one star!!
- Raviteja (10/5): - Nice and clean motel to stay. Room Service was good.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Nasty - This is the absolute worse hotel i've ever stayed in. It was old, like 1980 old bed and all. Got ate up by something over night. Had bites all over me and place was very run down w what appeared to be women giving services for money outside! Everything was just old and used up and shower had to figure out a trick to turn on water! It was hands down worse ive seen and stay out 5 days a week....!
- William (6/5): - I look for budget priced accommodations when passing through. This room with discount filled the bill. Nothing fancy just a place to sleep. Room reeked of smoke even though booked as non smoking.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Bad it could be more nice but I guess u get what u pay for
- Lisa (2/5): Motel should be condemned. - This motel sbe be demolitioned. I complaied about roaches. They sprayed for bed bugs during my stay (as if this was an acceptable practice). Dragging mattresses out of the room, outside the front door & sprayed them. The final straw was when I counted 10 roaches in my room in one day. I complained but nothing was done. They crawled on me while I tried to sleep. Health inspectors or FTC needs to investigate the lack of cleaniness & run down condition of this dump! Don't even consider this roach motel, spend the extra money!
- Howard (4/5): Disappointed - Didn’t like it. I couldn’t help hoping that there was no problem with issues like Roaches or Bedbugs.
- Sarah (8/5): Good for the price - I was pleasantly surprised. We needed a cheap room while visiting family. It was cheap and I expected it to be sketchy. The room was old in a cool, retro way. Very clean. And, much to my surprise, very quiet. They do have some old locks on the doors that made me nervous, but it ended up being great. I saw some reviews about bugs but we never had a problem.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Pleasant Surprise - Cheap price, clean sheets, wifi let me stream you tube with no loss of connection. My cell phone had no signal. Tile updates in bath were nice. no shampoo provided but soap was. noisy neighbor. I dont watch TV but it was a flatscreen Fridge and heat worked good. Glad to know a Cheap place can be nice since I have been unlucky before!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok small hotel - It was an ok hotel to stay for a night or two.
- s (6/5): I didn't exactly feel safe here. - It was old time locks and some of the clientele were quite shady. However, the owner was very accommodating when I messed up the reservation.
- gardos motel (2/5): bed bugs - horibal
- Gary (8/5): Gardos Motel, took me right back to the 60's - I love nostalgic hotels/motels. This one is under going a remodel. The owner was very nice and helpful. He was telling me he has owned the place for 2 years. My room was big, clean and quiet. The bathroom was also big with wonderful 60's tile. Huge step in shower, I was amazed, that I got this room for two days for less than $80.00. They are painting all the doors a beautiful burgundy color. If I had the time, I would have loved to stay a couple more days. I had a microwave and a fridge, table and chairs for eating. I read some negative reviews before I booked. My experience was excellent, the king size bed was clean and comfortable. I slept like a baby. I have stayed hotels/motels costing over $100.00 a night. They were not as clean, as The Gardos Motel. Nice place, I seriously very much enjoyed the whole experience. Gary O
- Kathy (8/5): F#@! That place! - It was disgusting, Roaches and horrible customer service.
- Dwayne (10/5): It was very nice place and quite as I stay there r - I would reck amend for u to try it out if your traveling anywhere near gardos
- sherry (2/5): Nitemare - Im sorry but this was a night mare i wasnt there even five minutes. And i was ask did i want to buy drugs it wasnt even safe it only had one lock on the door i left. Both rooms and drove all the way home i will never. Do thos again. I lost over 78.00 and change that nite because. My family didnt feel safe and i left 15 minutes. After arriving. This hotel needs. To be token. Off hotel.com
- judith (2/5): Horrendous - I was forced to spend 1 nite there the location was scary, and the room was deplorable. They had roaches and the furniture was so filthy we wouldn't sit on the chairs. We sat up to sleep on the bed taking turns to keep the bugs off us. I couldn't get anyone to my knocking at the office door to check out and get the second day refunded to my card. In my opinion the place should be condemned.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Bugs - Roaches and bed bugs. Rooms are spacious but in poor conditions. Saw it was cheap and figured to try it. Was not worth it. If it wasn't for the bugs it would've been a pleasant stay
- Aaron (6/5): Good for tradesmen here for work - They have only two non-smoking rooms, both on the ground floor; all my clothes now smell like stale cigarettes. Still, for $35 a night nonrefundable the place is pretty good: all the amenities work (though not always in good shape: they've clearly been repaired multiple times), and the proprietor is friendly and helpful. I wouldn't bring a family here but for a couple tradesmen sharing a room, you could do worse even in a town as small as Forest City.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed was clean and pretty comfortable, the bathroom was clean, the AC worked well, but there were roaches, a see-thru crack in the wood panels of the door, a small sliding window in the bathroom that was not properly secured and which also had no curtain, water in one corner of the bathroom near the back of the commode which was obviously leaking but not intrusively, the carpet did not look clean and the chairs had cigarette burn holes in them. We sprayed everything with disinfectant....including the roaches...trying to kill them. Roaches were not crawling all over everything, but we did see 15 to 20....before we swatted them with a flip-flop and/or sprayed them. We only stayed one night (as we were there for a concert in a nearby town), and we needed none of the amenities of a fancier place. We just needed a place to sleep and get dressed for the next day. It served our purpose, after we attacked and either killed or ran off the roaches.
