We would have stayed on anther night or two if it wasn't extortionate. The $20/d parking charge is also high considering what we paid for the room. Breakfast was poor. In room coffee was poor.

There were lamp shades that were very torn...I learned they have new ones on back order. It was the smallest Residence Inn Studio room I can recall being in also...and not comfortably laid out. It is in an excellent location and walkable to the downtown mall and UVA.

Easily a hotel where you could spend a week. We didn't use the pool or gym but it looked good from what we saw. Good location to walk to downtown or to the train station or university.
Ellen (9/5): Great suite with breakfast and parking close to UVA great for families. - We were there for 2 nights had a 2 bedrooms suite for 5 people. the beds in the bedrooms were comfortable. nice to have the kitchen space it was clean. bathroom attached to king room nice and spacious. room was quiet. workout room and pool were nice and clean. breakfast was good! the pullout couch was very uncomfortable according to my daughter. also there were no luggage racks or dressers in either bedroom so it made it difficult to access clothes from luggage without cramming it into the nightstands or putting it in closet. coffee was too strong.

Breakfast was included and decent, but 0730-0930 were odd hours. Room was clean, but the furniture had seen better days. Good temperature and pressure from the shower. Didn’t acknowledge gold status at check-in.

It's walkable to anything that's downtown-ish and close to the campus. The room was poorly maintained - the door frame to the bathroom was falling apart, there was mold in the group of the shower, towels were dirty and stained, kitchen utensils were not clean.

KailuaGal (10/5): Very Nice Residence Inn - The Residence Inn Charlottesville Downtown is a very nice Residence Inn. The lobby is clean with a lovely sitting area and gas fireplace. Although we didn't have a friendly check-in (Heather was rather abrasive, unwelcoming, didn't smile even once, or thank us for being Titanium members.), we did have a friendly check out with Courtney. Courtney smiled, asked us if we had a nice stay, and wished us Happy Holidays. I didn't downgrade our rating due to Heather, but, as a supervisor myself, I highly recommend she receive some remedial training or find another job that would be more pleasing to her. As Titanium members, we were upgraded to a 2-bedroom suite, which was greatly appreciated since we were traveling with our adult son. The suite was clean, spacious, and well appointed. Both our beds were comfortable. The breakfast was one of the best we've had at a Residence Inn. It included the usual items like cereal, eggs, sausage, waffle makings, biscuits & gravy, yogurt, oatmeal, etc, but what really impressed me was the oat milk and egg toppings (hot sauces, shredded cheese, salsa, sour cream) they offered. I especially appreciated the oatmilk for my herbal tea and salsa for my eggs. The hotel is off Main St. We didn't here any traffic noise, but once at night and once in the morning we heard emergency vehicle sirens. Fortunately, it wasn't during our sleep hours. I would definitely recommend the Residence Inn Charlottesville Downtown.
lovellp2017 (10/5): Possibly the best Residence Inn! - I have stayed at dozens of Residence Inns across the U.S. and Canada. This hotel is certainly the best and highly recommended. From the location, to the rooms, the breakfast, abundant parking, courteous service, and cleanliness, this location is unmatched. The suites are modern, spacious and the bathrooms are a decent size. I spent two nights here and had great sleep on both nights. The staff at breakfast work incredibly hard to make sure everyone is served and the service is great. What's even better, they have a number of gluten-free options which are listed and displayed in the buffet area. These items are available upon request and are greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Brandy (10/5): - This is a great Residence Inn, a very easy walk to the place in downtown Charlottesville. The studio room was spacious and comfortable. The staff was great, the business center was easy to use, and breakfast was solid. The only issue I had is that the listing on Expedia says the room has a tub shower combo, but it was only a shower in the room I had.
Don (10/5): - I stay here often and have yet to be disappointed. Covered parking is a paid option, but well worth it for the convenience. A separate elevator goes right from the lobby to the garage. Just make sure you check in first and get your room key and parking pass, otherwise you won't be able to use that elevator.

Jennifer (10/5): GREAT STAY! - We love this hotel for visitng our daughter at UVA, been staying here for four years. It is clean, convenient and the breakfast is terrific. Staff is welcoming and helpful.
Donna (4/5): - I know the brand is supposed to be like a short stay apartment but it did not have soap in the bathrooms except for a pump in the shower, really inconvenient for hand washing and simple bathroom use. There were no disposable cups anywhere and with large glasses it was hard to fill the coffee maker (hard to see instructions on volume and easy to make a mess while doing so. Short on bedside plug ins, also something standard today in most facilities.

This may have been true the first two days (it was the weekend), but false the next two days, as it wasn't fully booked. We didn't feel they were accommodating our just and logical request. Bad
Cathy the cat (10/5): Nice big hotel in the center - I had a convention at the Omni( which is much more expensive) and the Marriott was Right in front. Besides being next to the walking mall downtown. Very practical. The staff is super nice and helpful. It is a beautiful hotel. The rooms are big and useful. It's clean. Breakfast is very rich. Nice gym and pool. I have to admit that I have not been to the States in the last 20 years, so it was a shock for me to see the increase of the prices . It is a very nice hotel but a bit overpriced...compared to what I used to pay years ago, but reasonably priced compared to the other hotels nearby. The mattress was a bit full of craters ( holes).

Amylou22 (8/5): Comfortable stay in Charlottesville. - Our two room suite on the 7th floor was great. Staff were responsive and friendly. The pool was a bit small, max capacity 8, but was clean. Be prepared to be on display as you swim as the pool windows were next to a major street and sidewalk. The beds were comfy and the room was clean. Only drawback was that there is a nearby firehouse and there seemed to be several emergency events and we heard all the sirens, at all hours of the day/night. The location was near the downtown mall and easily walkable to several great stores and food options.
Don (10/5): - Parking is a paid option, but amazingly convenient and worth every penny. I stay at a half dozen Residence Inns a year, and this location is the most walkable with the most nearby dining options of any. Views from some rooms are not great, but that's not why you chose to stay here. It's my new favorite stopover point between NC and the northeast, beating out Waynesboro, and both Richmond locations. I look forward to staying here again.

Coffee average. - The front desk should’ve been more responsive when I did talk about their embarrassing breakfast. You couldn’t pay me to eat most of what they had available inexcusable considering this is a Marriott. All the fruit was old especially the bananas, bruised how do you screw that up? The eggs smelled like fish and all the other options were just junk.

Robert (8/5): Right in the heart of Charlottesville - The hotel is super nice and very typical of Marriott properties. It's a Residence Inn so of course it's really a little efficiency apartment which was perfect in terms of space and amenities. We chose it because it is dog friendly and it is very near the pedestrian mall area. There is on site parking in a lot and a garage and there is a nearby grassy area to walk dogs. All the staff we very friendly and helpful. It is worth noting that the hotel is on a very busy corner with traffic lights in downtown Charlottesville. Our dog friendly room was on the second floor (great for easy access for potty breaks) and overlooked one of the side streets where there was noise from traffic stopping and starting at the light. This is to be expected in a busy city, and we are not light sleepers so this did not bother us. If you are a light sleeper though, ask for a room away from the corner or maybe one on a higher floor. nothing

Zimmerman (3/5): Poor - I am allergic to dogs with asthma if I am exposed. I was told, when I made the booking, that the hotel would be advised to try to find a room that hadn’t had dogs for the last few guests—that notes to that effect would go to the hotel. When I arrived the front desk said no notes had arrived, and that there was only room left that could might have had a dog. I suffered from asthma all night. Thanks for nothing!

Kbgtb (2/5): Room 417 - I reached out to Marriott first. The response I received was ridiculous. They made me feel like my issues weren’t as big of a deal as they were. I wish my pictures came out better. Our accommodations were absolutely unacceptable. I paid $1,800 for 2 nights. I would have expected that I would be in a well-maintained room. There were stains all over the carpeting. The carpet had areas where it wasn't laying properly. The furniture needs to be replaced. The chairs coverings were torn and shedding. The cabinets were beaten up. There were stains on the sofas. The TV in one of the bedrooms wasn't working. I called the front desk (spoke with the most unfriendly woman) and someone came to fix but then the remote doesn't work properly. Speaking of unfriendly, it may have been the same woman, but the woman with the very short hair that checked me in was not very welcoming when I arrived. Her "greeting" was, "what do you need." And for goodness sakes, can someone open up one of the makeup removal wipes and rub it all over their face and let me know how you feel about having what smells like vomit being wiped all over your face. I certainly did not appreciate it! I had to pay to park, breakfast ends at 9:30, the bathroom door doesn't close without being forced, the overflow in the sink was filthy, maybe 2 tissues and the smell when we first entered was horrendous.

Joelle (10/5): Fantastic - The hotel is strategically located downtown, beautifully decorated, and offers large common areas indoors and out. Every corner is comfortable and enjoyable. The pool was well equipped and heated. The minimal hiccup was our room: beautiful but felt a little tight... after adding a pack & play for my 7 months old baby. Our bed was a little too cushy, probably what most people prefer, we like a firm mattress. But everything else was just great. Finally the staff was incredible and room service was outstanding. All our room requests were fulfilled in no time.

A staff member brought us a box fan after we exhausted efforts through the breaker box and tech help on the phone. We were in a suite whose garbage disposal was clogged and the smell was unpleasant. I left a coat in the closet and called twice about it (including the day of departure) with no call back. I was informed by general manager that the coat was gone.

Snearl (8/5): Great place in great location! - We arrived early and were granted an early check in. When our door key didn’t work, the tram was quick to find a solution. The room was comfortable, including the bed. This hotel is located at a great spot close to the downtown mall. Breakfast had good options too.

Susan (4/5): a big disappointment - breakfast was Ok. the location was ok except the address did not match the reality of actually getting into the hotel. very confusing and could be a very bad introduction had the weather been disagreeable. Pets were allowed, but it is not pet friendly. there is no place on the hotel property to walk a dog and the sidewalks nearby were not cleared of ice. I could not regulate the temperature in the room so remained uncomfortable and the television was difficult to figure out even with staff help. I was watching the Presidents address and the TV turned off by itself. I felt controlled and helpless. The hotel decor is very cold.

Upon arrival, I was upgraded to a large suite. There was also plenty of parking available onsite. If you fly into DCA, the drive there is beautiful. Well worth taking the long way.

Self service laundry on 4th floor. Walkable to restaurants and local supermarket, Reid Super Save - known for its butchered meat at reasonable rates. A smaller supermarket is just round the corner. Decor is a bit dated but doesn’t bother me. A number of decent restaurants within walking distance. Adequate breakfast. I did not drive so can’t comment about parking.

thomasrM4479BS (6/5): Good Location Great Beds, No upgrades ever. - Pros: decent well located property in downtown Charlottesville. Rooms while somewhat dated are clean and comfortable. Our bed was exceptionally comfortable. Cons: have stayed here multiple times yet they never have offered or provided any sort of upgrade. I am a Titanium elite member. Always have an excuse as to why no upgrades are available even when hotel is less than half full. In fact no one I know who has stayed here has gotten an upgrade. Think I will try another place next time.
