- Alina (10/5): Outstanding stay - Loved the hotel, great service, delicious dinners, very convenient location, amazing owners creating welcoming atmosphere. Couldn't stay longer
- Yuyang (10/5): - Wonderfully friendly and helpful staff who kindly offered early check-in. The room was neat and tidy. The food was fantastic. We ordered chicken pasta, pizza, grilled fish and seafood salad, which were all very very tasty. Absolutely the best you could get in Nukualofa. The chicken pasta was very flavorful and free-range chickeny. The owners were very kind and sweet and offered free drinks to us for both dinners. Highly recommended for a holiday getaway in Nukualofa. 10-min away from downtown.
- Zane (10/5): -
- CD (8/5): Pricey - Friendly staff, having a balcony, a very clean room that was a decent size, breakfast included. Was able to pay in TOP by international transfer after we checked out to avoid 4% credit card fee. Had parking for our hire car. It's very pricey and communication was lacking so I was unsure if our booking was confirmed, or payment received.

- Linda (9/5): Nice hotel with an amazing restaurant - Nice hotel with a great restaurant. The sea view room was good with a lovely balcony. The food in the restaurant was very good and it was very popular. Easy walk to the town centre along the sea front. Nothing it was what I expected it to be like on a small island.
- Warren (10/5): Great stay and very helpful - Great location None
- Nelly Denise (9/5): -
- Sandra (10/5): Great family run hotel with super friendly staff. - Lovely family run hotel. Balcony view was really nice. Restaurant had a great menu and the food was good. A good wine selection too. Staff were super friendly and helpful and housekeeping were very efficient and always happy to help.
- ernestanon (7/5): -
- Valerie (8/5): after initial problem it was good - the people reception closed when I arrived and had to sit outside in blazing sunshine No contact details provided
- Wayne (9/5): I had a wonderful stay, good food in the restaurant and friendly staff. - The friendly staff and the sea shore location. Beautiful view from the seaside rooms. Shower water pressure could be improved.
- I8107FDmaryh (10/5): Little Italy in Tonga - So good, food, and people, very glad we made it to there. Nice people and good prices. Had good chat with girls who work there. They shared the story of volcanic eruption few years back gosh good we weren't there then. Nice location too. Gobthers for European sophistication in Tonga.
- E6541HJjuliam (10/5): Great accommodation in Tonga - Great location and service and friendly staff. Restaurant food was good value and quality (as was the cost of accommodation. View from seaside rooms was lovely. Breakfast perfect range and amount. Will definitely stay again on my next visit to Tonga.
- Kerri (10/5): - Best view, beautifully big and airy ocean view room with balcony. Amazing food!
- Cakacaka (10/5): It was the best stay. And they are very accommodative. - They had the best services and they very accommodative.
- 語亭 (10/5): Fantastic service. Good location and beautiful balcony view - Everything If I rly have to pick one, probably just the installation spot of the ac. It’s directly on top of the bed. And when you fix it to blow to certain angles, the ac making a bit of loud noise.
- Indravadan (9/5): Superb - Good breakfast. Location is right on the waterfront, close to town.
- Amelia (10/5): - The staff were attentive and helpful.
- texasp564 (10/5): EXCEPTIONAL - The warmth feeling I experienced, it felt like home I can't remember anything I should complain about this place, Italy's fantasy with an island warm hospitaly i must say i didn't have time to say thank you mele and angelo, back to USA but my heart is with this place
- maluah2024 (10/5): Best Pizza Place in Tonga - I like to say thank you to the owner of Little Italy Meleseini, for the warm welcoming us to your restaurant, if you looking for a place with great food and friendly staffs look no further than the Little Italy. The food was made fresh taste so good, and the staffs who served us were full of knowledge on the menu, the island and anything else you need to know about the island.
Thank you so much and we are looking forward to our next trip down here next year.
- Linda (9/5): I will recommend the place to fellow travelers! - The staff especially TV only has one channel
- Jacqueline (7/5): A comfortable, conveniently situated hotel with friendly staff. - The location was very good, overlooking the sea and close to town. The restaurant staff were very good, but could have benefited from more training with regard to certain things, such as serving white wine cold rather than at room temperature! The hotel is well designed and well-appointed, but lack of careful maintenance is beginning to show - cracked electrical fittings and floor tiles, loose bannisters, chairs with loose arms, unsweetened balconies all give an aura of back of care and attention to detail.
- Sainimili (10/5): Exceptional -
- Stephen (10/5): Hospitable owners, friendly staff, clean room, plentiful complimentary breakfast and wonderful food. - We would like to extend our thanks to the owners Angelo and Meleseini, they were so kind and generous in upgrading us to a Seaview room with balcony for our Anniversary. We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights and because we enjoyed our stay we decided to extend 4 more nights. The family loved it here and would definitely return.
- Stephen (10/5): Great place to stay in Tonga, my family enjoyed our stayed we highly recommended Little Italy!!!!! -
- Jane (10/5): Exceptional - Carefree relaxed accommodation
- Anania (10/5): Exceptional -
- bretts11 (4/5): Staff lacks customer service skills. Hotel ok. Restaurant unreliable to even be operational on given day. - So many miscommunications from the staff really overshadowed the stay at this place. I chose it for the unique property, staying above a highly rated and unique restaurant (in Tonga at least). Upon arrival, the restaurant was closed. Front desk staff said it was going to be closed for two weeks, and then every employee gave a different response (closed 2 weeks, closed 2 days, take away only...). Front desk staff said that since restaurant is closed, breakfast was being delivered to rooms....of coures, that didnt happen and the restaurant was open in the morning. Every employee says something different if you ask them questions. No clue what's going on there. Rooms were fine/basic. Wifi generally worked out. It's a bit of a far walk to the city. I wish we stayed at the Emerald or Tanoa because they seemed well run (we went there for meals since Little Italy was too lazy to run a restaurant).
- Takayuki (7/5): Good - I stayed in an ocean view room. Do the view from the balcony was nice. I really appreciated an air conditioner in the room. Otherwise it is hard to sleep. The quality of dish at the restaurant is very good. The restaurant did not open on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from the 21st to the 25th of December. The restaurant serves very nice dish when I had dinner on Saturday and Sunday though.
- Shita (8/5): Very good -
- Jacqueline (10/5): - Such a beautiful property very convenient and close to town ocean view lovely staffs and sweet. Good food at the restaurant below as well serves such a good breakfast meal fresh organic tropical fruits can’t wait to go back again! Rooms are great for families and little ones big and spacious!
- Lorenzo (10/5): - Wonderful rooms with a view, excellent staff. In house restaurant is good
- joncX4133UF (10/5): Charming hotel and Restaurant - This place offers lovely balcony views across the sea. There’s no beach to speak of and the hotel is a good 1.5km from the town center. The restaurant is great though and the breakfast buffet is outstanding. The staff at Little Italy are so friendly and helpful.
- Kelly (10/5): - Great view out over the sea. Waking distance to town and palace
- Michael van (10/5): - Great hotel in Tonga - get a room with a water view if you plan to stay for a period of time, as the rooms opposite (not facing the water) are a bit oppressive. They also have a patio to help enjoy the view. Only downside is you get more road & restaurant noise, but that's part of the charm.
Restaurant downstairs is wonderful. And the hotel is 15 minutes walk into town.
Definately recommend the hotel when staying in Tonga.
- Robert (8/5): - Excellent place to stay in Tonga. The rooms were spotless. The attached restaurant was very good and their free breakfast was the best I have had at a restaurant in a long time. I recommend to my friends as the place to stay in Nufalofa
- Anna (8/5): Very good -
- Rastislav (7/5): Good -
- Sergio (5/5): Nice place but overcharged for it. - The staff were great. They were really polite and friendly. The room was good, the bed was comfortable. We had a problem with the shower blocked the first night and they fix it the next morning My review cannot be totally positive as the payment was not fair. I booked using booking, which says all taxes and charges included, but that’s not true. We left a bit in a hurry and I did not notice the total charge until it was too late. In booking they say they’ll charge you in USD, but obviously once you are there they use the local currency. When I made the conversion I realised I was overcharged. In the invoice they add a 4% surcharge for “pay with card”. Seriously, who is going to pay a hotel using cash? Then I remembered a previous night when after dinner we paid and the owner added the same 4% to the bill, and he said it was the usual there (which is not, and it was not charged in most places, just there and one more place, I have receipts). They do not mention that clearly on the booking, which is a bit of a scam. If that’s your policy, ok, but say it before I do the booking or even better if you add the 4% to everyone in booking as most of us will pay with card. That’s probably why they charge you once you are there and not directly through booking.com. Not a fair practice.
In the other hand, the staff is great and the room is ok.
- Joseph (10/5): - The staff was very friendly, helpful as well as the owner of Little Italy. The place was clean and has a nice view of the ocean even though i didn't get a front view room.
Malo
- Jamie (10/5): Exceptional - Angelo, the owner, is amazing and such a gracious host! Any time something would not work correctly, he was immediately on the job! Mala was also super awesome - very friendly and packed all of our huge bags up to our rooms. Nothing could have been better.
- Tanya (10/5): - I came for my fathers funeral. We live right behind the hotel but it was too crowded at the house so I booked a room here. The owners offered free rooms for those who came for the funeral but I booked via Expedia so that I could feel as if Im supporting our local businesses. The service was top notch and friendly. Anytime I locked myself out or had questions or concerns, the employees were always there to help with a smile. The amenities worked well for my needs. The free breakfast came in handy and was surprisingly refreshing, delicious, and offered quite a selection. I was highly satisfied with my stay and highly recommend Little Italy for your stay in Tongatapu. Thank you owners and staff of Little Italy!
- Stephanie (9/5): Superb - The staff at the hotel were kind and the room was very comfortable. The restaurant downstairs was a great bonus because it’s a little far to walk to town for dinner. I also had a first aid emergency and the staff weee very helpful to help me get it sorted. We felt safe and met many People who have stayed here many visits in a row It is a pretty expensive hotel for what you get- but it’s also the same prices as all the hotels in the city.
- Brad (10/5): - Exceeded our expectations in every way
- O7378HRsharona (4/5): Underwhelming - Firstly, they had very little wine available. No bottles of white wine at all. There was only 1 waitress and 2 men taking orders (Uber eats). After an hour, we received cold and unpleasant garlic focaccia. The pizza was also cold and was sent back. It was replaced with a burnt but hot offering. However, the pollo fettuccini was really good. They were understocked and understaffed. Too busy filling takeaway orders, in house guests were left waiting.
- Marie (10/5): Exceptional - I enjoyed my stay very much. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel and my room were clean and room service was excellent. The town centre is a 20 min walk but taxis are very cheap. Great pizzas! Fab view from the balcony
- Diana (10/5): Tonga-Wonderful People - The Tongan people are very gracious and kind. This is the best hotel in the area. They have wi-fi available in the rooms. Cell phones from the US do not work on the island, unless connected to wi-fi. The food in the restaurant was great. The breakfast choices varied. There are very limited food options close, so having good food attached to the hotel is a huge bonus. Pizza was very good, so were the cream sauce pastas. The receptionist called for a tour guide on short notice to drive us to all the attractions around the island. A balcony room is worth the extra cost. It was a lovely way to just sit and watch the ocean. The hotel also has car rentals available. Taxis are not available on Sundays unless prearranged.
- Tim (10/5): - A bit of an oasis, great staff and food, everything I needed while working in Tonga. Will definitely return next time I am working there.
- Adhy (8/5): Very good -
- drmslattery (8/5): Comfortable and welcoming - Our last-minute business trip to Tonga, and all the hotels were full… But Little Italy had space, and we were certainly glad they did! A great location right on the waterfront. Unpretentious clean rooms with a very welcoming staff. It isn’t fancy, but it more than met our expectations. Restaurant is very good, but service takes a while. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good place if here for work. - Stayed in standard room - those with a balcony are probably worth it if you are here during the day, but I was out for work. The rooms are on the smallish side but have everything you need. The reception/housekeeping staff are great. Food in the restaurant also good (basic breakfast) but it does get very very busy at night so either go early or be prepared to enjoy sitting around the table chatting while waiting. Very comfortable bed, other parts of the room a bit tired but there were signs of rennovations happening. If you are here for work it has everything you need.
- Janis (8/5): - The hotel wasn't actually open to the public when we checked in (miscommunication with Expedia), but they honoured our booking anyway. This meant we didn't have breakfast, room service or reception for most of our stay but they did try to make up for it later in our stay. Otherwise, the property is a great boutique hotel (particularly for Tonga standards) with an excellent Italian restaurant. The staff were very warm. I would stay here again in Nukualofa.
- Leong (8/5): Cosy little place! - Family run hotel and it was very cosy. The owners will help you with your needs and he does good Italian food! They probably need to upgrade the things in the room and have a communal area to hit up food or to do laundry.
- Nasili (10/5): - Friendly staff, great service
- Matthew (9/5): waking up to view of the sea and seeing whales breaching on the horizon is hard to beat - the location is excellent, the food good and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed our stay and had an excellent time at the Little Italy Hotel
- Navvie (8/5): Very good - Great location, friendly staff and amazing meals. Laundry wasn't dry when returned. Clothes were still damp.
- Tesi (10/5): - Great place to stay and location is right by the sea
Really close to town so able to walk
Staff were friendly and helpful
Hotel is also a restaurant with some awesome food
- Lisa (7/5): Good -
- jm2215 (6/5): Business visit in Tonga - This will be my 3rd visit to tonga for business and I've always stayed at tanoa buy decided this time I wanted to try little Italy as recommended by friends, I booked via email with Vei which is the most helpful professional lady. The night we arrive which was 12.30am we were awaited by hotel shuttle but when we arrived at hotel the lady ask us to pay 30 per person for fare which was disappointed as we were never told this via email so we could be well prepared for. They had someone at reception which was a man was welcoming but again problem is he never came helped us with our bags given they had stairs. Again if we pay this should be all part of your service. I really felt sorry for the lady we were with as she had bags and then we were given our keys and the receptionist never offer to take our bags up the stairs, first of all if you guys have no elevators then when you have guests check in this should be included in your service to deliver our bags to our rooms given we had to walk up the stairs.i arrived in my room which I was in the water front I found my room was decorated with fancylace on top of my bed etc which in our culture was very offensive given this is the way we decorate for any dead person. My advise is please you have beautiful rooms but remove all the decorations and just leave as it is as some people are not on honeymoon they are on business etc. My Aircon did not work but was glad they put me in another room for the night, I must say there standard rooms are perfect.another thing I recommend about this place is there beds are amazing so this is very much worth it. 2nd day went to go back into my room they still had issues with my Airton where I then used a fan. Because when your there for work you just cannot be bothered but just need a good bed a clean room and at least some nice air. There restaurant is always packed I heard the food is good but we went to sit down with some guests and they took forever to bring us our drinks hence we left and went to the roof top bar. At the end of our stay the hotel charge me the standard room rate which I am grateful for. Given this small issues I ran into when we stayed there these are things that can be improved by this place because I HIGHLY recommend to stay here. I do hope they add more rooms and hopefully get an elevator along the way. Little Italy is the place to stay in tonga.
- Robert (7/5): Very nice stay with an amusing restaurant - Lovely views for Ocean view rooms, and easy car rental. Restaurant was nice but didn’t have hardly anything on the menu, which probably isn’t their fault, just the way it goes on Tonga. Literally everything I ordered they didn’t have.
- sea food soup (they gave me chick pea soup instead, which was nice - but without asking I might add)
- pesto nocci
- salmon penne
- creamy fettuccini
- Diet Coke
- apple crumble dessert
In the end we had a pleasant pizza and lasagne and a few beers (which came unopened and I used my knife to open).
It actually become funny how they didn’t have have anything. To be honest I only ordered the apple crumble to see it they had it. Put it down to the Tongan way.
- Andy (8/5): Pleasant - Clean linen, good aircon, good shower, breakfast very nice Room tired, quite basic, wifi didn’t work, restaurant couldn’t fit me in first night for dinner, a bit out of town (but still a pleasant stay)
- Carol (7/5): It met our basic needs - The food was good. The free breakfast was simple but okay. However they didn't tell you that you could have ordered other things for a fee.
The location is nice. You get to watch the pigs fishing at low tide. While the location is nice the local dogs bark all night so we couldn't leave the window open for fresh air. There wasn't really a nice area to sit outside except out front on hard chairs in the sun. However there were table umbrellas that made it not too hot.
- Keith (8/5): Lovely location right on the beach wlth views out to the sea, with great staff. - Check in was very easy and soon we asked for a ocean view room and they gave us one. Breakfast was very good and dinner was also. Rooms big enough with a nice balcony. Location was very good also, walkable to town with a nice seaside sidwalk in front of the hotel. We had reserved an airport pickup which never happened. Had to get a taxi instead
- Anita (10/5): A++ really enjoyed our stay thank you so much :) - Really enjoyed our stay, staff were friendly and continental breakfast was great, thank you all so much :) nothing it was great will stay again :)
- Scott (7/5): Good - Clean, comfortable, friendly staff
- Richard Glenn (10/5): - Staff are freindly, quick to fix anything that not working. All rooms require some stairs to climb so not very wheelchair freindly.
Beds are real comfortable, shower has good water pressure, shampoo conditioner and bar of soap supplied. Restraunt down stairs is very popular for their pizza 🍕.
I definitely recommend staying here.
- Pamela (8/5): Take a deep breath - Beautiful Ocean View and it was nice to be able to open the patio door to enjoy the ocean breeze.
- Caitlin (7/5): The best accommodation on Tongatapu - The location is great, right on the waterfront. It's a little out of the main town, but an easy walk, and the location makes it quieter and more peaceful. The staff are so friendly and helpful, especially the kind gentleman who came to fix our aircon immediately when it stopped working. I wish we had paid the extra for a room with a balcony. Our room was on the rear of the property with a window of the kitchen's restaurant meaning we couldn't leave it open without our room stinking of food being cooked. The neighbour's roosters are also exceptionally noisy.
- Amy (9/5): Lovely cozy stay at Little Italy - It was a very comfortable hotel with wonderful food. The staff was so friendly and helpful. It was a little far from town but the walk did us good.
- ChicagoOrange (8/5): Surprised was surprised… in a good way - I stayed there three nights. I saw the positive reviews, but was still skeptical about a hotel that’s also a pizza place. I was quite happy with the stay. The restaurant is a popular place, but the noise doesn’t carry into the room. (Albeit my room was on the other side of the hotel, but I still didn’t hear much restraint noise outside the restaurant. Staff was friendly and accommodating. Owners were onsite everyday actively maintaining everything. It’s on the quieter side of town and a 10-15min walk into town, along the oceanfront.
- Valerie (10/5): - It was nice and clean, had lovely staff and we enjoyed a great sea view from our room. We were allowed to keep our room to 11.30am on the day we left. We did so appreciate that. The breakfast food was plentyful and nice variety. The pizzas are good for evening meal.
- Richard (9/5): Amazing customer service -
- andrew (10/5): - We had a lovely stay at Little Italy. All the staff were so friendly & helpful. Nothing was too much trouble.
- pac_endF1J1_679 (8/5): Worth the wait….. - This restaurant is a landmark in the island kingdom and a must try. The meals are delicious and has an excellent menu selection. The pastas to the fresh seafood platter and pizzas!! The place is always full so make sure to book in advance and an earlier seating would be an advantage. The service is slow due to the high traffic and busier time. But definitely worth the wait. And by the sea…..
- Katih123 (8/5): Good food, skip the wine - They have decent food, we can definitely recommend mixed salad, seafood pasta and grilled fish. Horrible wine thought, the first white wine was served warm, when the waiter found a chilled one, it wasn’t tasteful.
Make a reservation in advance.
- Pauline (9/5): Thank you for everything 😊 - Friendly staff. Very safe to stay. Will come back again 😊
- Nick (6/5): Pleasant -
- Assudomal (2/5): UNPLEASANT - CERTAIN MEMBER OF THE STAFF (IN PARTICULAR A RECEPTIONIST NAMED RACHEL) WAS PARTICULARLY RUDE AND UNHELPFUL. THERE WAS IN OUR ROOM AN ELECTRIC WATER KETTLE BUT NONE OF THE WALL OUTLET FITTED THE PLUG. THAT IN ITSELF IS QUITE RIDICULOUS. WE ASKED FOR EITHER AN PLUG EXTENSION OR ANOTHER ELECTRIC KETTLE. IT TOOK RACHEL A LONG TIME AND MANY REMINDERS TO GET THIS DONE. AND SHE DISPLAYED A FAIR AMOUNT OF DISPLEASURE THAT SHE WAS DISTURBED BY OUR REQUEST.
- vishalc932 (2/5): Unpleasant stay and not worth the money. - I stayed here at Little Italy for 5 days Nadi was in room 16 and it wasn't a pleasant stay. There are construction workers who are on site at the hotel who are still working away till 9-10:30 pm at night. I couldn't get proper sleep as a results of loud banging of the hammer and the constant drilling noise. Furthermore, the access to get to the rooms from reception is abysmal, there are equipment lying around on the stairs, its was very unsafe for guest to travel up the stairs when there is wires and equipment laying around to get up the second set of stairs to our rooms. Moreover, the remote to the ac kept playing up and wouldn't turn on sometimes in which I complained to the management quite a few times but no one has dealt with the issues regarding the ac remote which meant that I had trouble sleeping at night when the ac remote wasn't working properly. Finally, the wifi was absolutely horrible, I haven't had good connection at all and the wifi wouldn't work most of the times. This meant that, I couldn't not contact family members abroad properly due to severely bad wifi even though they claim that they have unlimited wireless connection everywhere. The staff in the restaurant should be applauded for their hard work and they made me smile and feel very happy and comfortable despite the issues I have had with this hotel.
