Guest Reviews
- Jeffrey (8/5): - Great location. Quiet with cute balcony. You can close the shutters to make it darker. Lots of stairs but that's part of being in Cinque Terre!
- LES (8/5): - Owner very helpful.
- Colleen (10/5): Perfect! - Perfect room- hostess was very responsive and accommodating. The room had everything you could need for a wonderful stay!
- Kelly (10/5): - Maddy was knowledgeable, accommodating and a delight! We loved our stay 100% No need for parking everything was walkable from our room. Beautiful views, easy access to the beach, dining, shops, train station, kayak rentals & ferry. On our way out we truly appreciated the access to the public elevator!
- Christeena (8/5): - Was good location!
- Julian (10/5): - Great place to stay in Riomaggiore. We loved the fact that it was in the main street which allowed us to enjoy our balcony view. We felt welcomed since the start. She provided us with so many attractions we could do and recommendations that we appreciated. The hotel is located near by the train station which makes it easy to navigate from one to another town. We would say overall this hotel was a great pick since we didn’t have anything to complain about but just love everything about it. Would totally stay here again and will recommend to my loved ones.
- Ohad (2/5): - After travelling Italy for two weeks, this was the worst accommodation of all of them.
The reason for choosing it was the promise of air conditioning but it was broken. The flat is on the high street which is very noisy past midnight, so sleeping with windows open was impossible. The room has coffee machine and some cups and plates but no cutlery or a way to wash the dishes.
- Janet (10/5): - Perfect location and clean!
- Matthew (10/5): - Super friendly and accomodating. Excellent location
- George (10/5): - Maddy was very helpful and the room is well located to enjoy the stay there. Lots of shops and restaurants to make our stay a highlight of our Grand Tour of Italy!
- Marco (10/5): Great visit to Riomaggiore - Amazing service, lovely room and great location! Maddy was friendly and helpful. Extremely well organized and great recommendations!
- Kimberley (10/5): - The owner was lovely, informative, helpful and accommodating. The property was close to train station, restaurants, in the heart of the town! The room was spacious, clean, comfortable. I would highly recommend
- Terry (10/5): - The property is about a 10 minute walk through the tunnel then up the street to number 99. The little balcony overlooking the street was a nice touch. There is no elevator and you are going up 3 flights of stairs to the room, so plan ahead for your stay and pack accordingly. Maddy met us at the room to make sure we had a good feel for 5 Terre and the area. Very glad we stayed in 5 Terre.
- Jesusa (10/5): - Loved our well-appointed apartment with a balcony overlooking the vibrant town. Our host was gracious. The surrounding area was filled with dining options and beautiful views. It was conveniently located within walking distance of the train station.
- rory (6/5): - My stay was pleasant. It was advised my room would have a separate but private bathroom. Positives are it’s very much within the village and all its beauty. Negatives are a very uncomfortable bed, an ant infestation , no TV and no breakfast. There are some sweet biscuits and small packed croissants and coffee. No milk. For €120 I suppose it’s what you might expect for Riomaggiore but there must be better choices available.
- Marlene (2/5): - Bathroom outside the room with horrible shower. No TV, horrible bed and sheets. Extremely noisy AC that doesn’t really work. Expired (free) goodies. Host not very polite (kind of rude).
- Michelle Myhanh (10/5): - Good location, Maddy gave very clear instructions and good recommendations for the restaurants and transportation.
- Jamie (10/5): Great place to stay with nice surprise perks - Great location and a great place to stay. Lots of snacks provided. Bed was a bit firm and no blackout blinds, but otherwise was perfect.
- Amy (10/5): - We loved this property. We were on the blue room. The room was spacious and clean. The bathroom was fantastic with a great shower. We loved the little balcony. The air conditioning was amazing and such a relief after a hot day. Coffee, snacks and a mini fridge were provided. The only thing of note is the stairs. It is two floors up but seriously worth every step.
- Cara (10/5): - This location was incredible. It was right off the Main Street of Riomaggiore. The owner was very kind and was accessible our entire stay via what’s app. We enjoyed all the places around us and our view.
- carol (10/5): - Maddie was an excellent host and takes good care of the room and her guests. Always available when we had questions. We stayed in the standard room which had the private bathroom down the hallway, which we were nervous about but it was no problem. The bathroom is large and their is a shelf where you can keep your toiletries so you don’t have to carry them back and forth. The light in the hallway turns on automatically and the hallway is clean so it was absolutely fine. We never even ran into anyone in the hallway. Very convenient laundry a few doors down,
- Brendan (10/5): - Really good location location, Maddy was a great host.
- Annabel (10/5): - This stay was so user friendly and the owner Maddy was so helpful and gave lots of great recommendations we used on our stay. Great accommodation in a beautiful town.
- Katleen (10/5): - Could have had a TV
Very nice owner
Close to the restaurants and grocery
- karla (10/5): Perfect! - It was perfect! For some reason I never received instructions from the app, but Maddy welcomed us and gave us instructions and very useful tips on how to move around Cinque Terre and where to eat. The place is perfectly located, it’s a beautiful room with a balcony to the main street in Riomaggiore. It was spacious and clean equipped with the basics. Maddy left some pastries for us, and a bottle of her homemade limoncello in the fridge. We fell in love with Riomaggiore, if we ever come back we’ll definitely stay here again.
- Minden (6/5): - Practical choice if you just need a bed and to be close to the water and not much else. Make sure you request bathroom in the unit when booking, otherwise you may get one you'd need to trek to down the hallway with a key. Make sure also the promise to clean the room on a certain day is followed through, as we were promised one-time cleaning but no one showed up so we had to cope and ration the shower gel etc. Loud in-room AC could wake you up each time it started. If these were no big deal to you, this place is for you.
- Arden (10/5): - We loved our stay here! It was perfect. Everything you could have needed was provided. AC worked, hot water, perfect location.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Great location. What made this trip was Maddy, the host. She was kind, helpful, and added so many little touches that made the stay special.
- Adele (8/5): - The Cinque terre village of Riomaggiore is very unique The homes are situated on steep hills plus have plenty of stairs to climb to get to your accommodation.
It requires one to be in great shape/physically fit. Not great if you have mobility issues. That being said, our place was great and had everything we needed. I did find it hard to sleep as the curtains were sheer like and not dark enough to block out light, so bring an eye mask.
Maddy, the owner, gave us lots of information of things we needed to know and left a basket of packaged goodies, water, teas and coffee.
We loved the views from different areas of the village and spent time visiting the other villages as well. 2 days wasn't enough.
- Joshua (10/5): - Thank you Maddy and Franco for making our stay in Riomaggiore memorable! Fantastic hosts, very generous and wonderful accomodations!
- Jennifer (10/5): - We just finished a 5 night stay here and cannot say anything bad! Maddy the host was absolutely PHENOMENAL! Great communication beforehand with directions and general info. We utilized the parking spots and Maddy was so kind and met us to show us where to park, then walked us to the unit (priceless). The unit itself is very convenient to shops and restaurants, and easy to navigate to the train station. Maddy gave us tons of info when we checked in that helped a lot, especially after an extremely long travel day. As with most places in Italy, be ready to haul your bags up/down steep inclines and steps. Can't recommend this place more!
- Jimena (8/5): - Great place in Riomaggiore, convenient to stay there a couple nights, the owner is so nice when checking in gave us a lot of recommendations and information of the area! The place is comfortable and has everything and more than you need! Would definitely recommend it! This town is a bit uphill so considering that when bringing luggage.
- Elizabeth (10/5): - Il BoMa is perfectly located half-way down the hill from the entrance to the Riomaggiore pedestrian district and the marina. Our hostess gave us all the information we needed to make our stay lovely, from things to do to places to eat. Her recommendations were spot on!
The room was very clean and big enough for two, though not spacious; bathroom was the best we’ve had in Italy, with space and a great shower. While we knew that there would be no breakfast, Coffee, tea, and lemoncello were provided, with some store-bought pastries if you didn’t want to purchase the wonderful offerings just outside the door.
We recommend this little gem - of a town and a hotel - if you go to Cinque Terre!
- Helen (10/5): - A great little place to stay right in the heart of Riomaggiore. Friendly and helpful communication both before and during my stay (eg location, info about the area). Nice little room with useful facilities. Would definitely recommend to others. Thanks Maddy 😊
- Denise (10/5): - Very clean, quite and close to the train station and dining.
- LYGIA (10/5): Great experience - Great location, large apartment. Great experience.
- Lisa (10/5): - Easy access to train, shopping and restaurants. Maddie was so helpful and gave excellent suggestions for dining, hiking, sunsets and train schedule.
- Kenneth (8/5): - Convenient location in the heart of Riomaggiore. Basic accommodation but very clean. Maddy was very friendly and helpful.
- DAVID (10/5): - Great property, great host!
Right in the heart of Riomaggiore.
- Jeanette (10/5): - We were so happy with our stay at Il BoMa. Cannot recommend it more, as it had all that we required and more! The owner Maddy took the time to give us a overview of the area and provided recommendations to restaurants and tips for the infamous Blue Trail trail hike. She was very friendly, personable, helpful and answered all of our questions. The location is perfetto, as it is quick and easy to find once you leave the train station. They have some great choices of rooms for your stay; we were so happy with ours. The restaurants that she recommended were fantastic as well. So pleased with our choice and would definitely stay there again next time we visit 5 Terre! Thank you Il BoMa!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing stay, host was very welcoming. Easy to find and a great location to walk down to the beach
- Bryce (10/5): - Maddy is amazing. She was EXTREMELY helpful. The hotel was perfect for us. Comfortable bed, balcony, nice shower. Great location in the Cinque Terre. Simply amazing.
- Alexandra (10/5): - We had a wonderful stay at Il Boma and would love to return in the future. It’s in a great location in downtown Riomaggiore, and parking was very easy. Highly highly recommend.
- Nina (10/5): - It was in a great location and the property itself was perfect
- Michael (10/5): - Truly wonderful, friendly helpful host great location. Eat at Old School for dinner or bfast.
- Rosevelt (8/5): Quaint hotel - Good accommodations and location was great. It was a quaint little hotel.
- Emily (10/5): - We loved our stay here. It’s right in the middle of Riomaggiore so it’s not easy to get to but it’s totally worth it. The owners give very specific instructions on how to get in both by car and train. We came in by car but there is very limited parking so I would suggest trying to go in by train. It’s very easy to access the train to the other villages of Cinqueterre and the owners are very good about giving all the information you need to get around. There is a lot of walking both up and down hill so just be prepared. Would definitely stay here again!
- Dylan (10/5): - Perfect room in a good spot. Host was lovely, would return!
- Shelley (10/5): - Maddy was an excellent host. She provided excellent directions to her property from the train (better than google maps!), great instructions on how to get around 5 Terre, including train schedules and ferry schedules and details about the various hiking routes available in area. Even though my stay was only three nights, I was able to do a lot of activities because of Maddy’s info and tips. Her restaurant recommendations were also helpful. Thank you Maddy and Franco.
- Lana (10/5): - Maddy is a great host! Thank you for everything!!!
- John (10/5): - Thank you to Maddy for a Fanta stay at Il Boma! Maddy made excellent recommendations for local restaurants, and even made a reservation on our behalf!
- Megan (10/5): Would recommend - Maddy was helpful and very informative. Great location could walk or take train/ ferry throughout whole area.
- June (10/5): - I wish they had an elevator but the buildings old so can’t complain.
Otherwise it was great. Hostess Maddy was very helpful and accommodating.
Great location. Close to the train station.
- Soleil (10/5): - What a wonderful hotel, situated in a lovely area. It's a great walking distance from the Riomaggiore train station, so it was great for us since we were lugging our heavy 45L backpacks. The owner's initial welcome instructions are detailed and helped us find the location! TY for that. There was no need for us to use Google maps.
The room she gave us is very spacious, clean, and has the amenities we need ... closets, extra pillows and blankets, towels, bowls, utensils, fridge, coffee maker, tea pot, treats, etc ... and I loved how we were given the rundown of our room and the area around us!
- Jeff (10/5): Our stay was perfetto (perfect)! - Maddy was great. Met us at the entrance to town, brought us to the private parking and then to the property.
Provided a map, instructions for options of visiting the 5 terre and where the ferry and train stations were, as well as the walking path.
Recommended certain places to eat and explained why (eg this one changes the frying oil often, this one serves fresh pizza, not frozen),m.
Arranged a porter to bring our bags back to the car (Riomaggiore has serious stairs and hills, and an elevator that may or may not be open). She even told us where to go to get the best photos of Riomaggiore.
Great shower. Great location. Comfy bed. Not one complaint.
- Terri (10/5): - Very clean, great location in Riomaggiore. I would recommend.
- Joshua (10/5): - Property was in an amazing location, right along the main street in Riomaggiore. Drank wine with the windows open and listened to the street noise, which was wonderful. The apartment is quite large and the facilities were great. Owners even provided home-made limoncello. Pretty unbelieveable service, location, and property quality. Price is high, but lower than many in the area.
- Michael (10/5): - We had a great apartment conveniently located in Riomaggiore just a short walk to the train station. Maddy was a great source of knowledge about the Cinque Terre and what to see. Highly recommended
- Vincent (10/5): Perfect location! - The owner was very nice and gabe us a lots of tips during our stay. Great location. Literally in the center. Will surely be back!
- anonymous (8/5): - located right on the main drag. easily accessible to everything. kitchen was convenient.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - In an excellent position with sea views and only a few minutes walk from the station (partly uphill but not too steep). We rented the triple room which was comfortable for 2. If renting as a triple, the sofa bed is in the living area and the bathroom is up some stairs off the living area. Watch out for the low ceiling from the bathroom! The least appealing aspect was that the internal hall and stairway not very welcoming and had an unpleasant smell. This said, we had a great time and worth paying a bit extra.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - I liked that it was close to the station, right in the middle of the town so close to the restatirants, shops and sights, and Maddy provided a lot of information relevant to our stay. Just be aware though that the apartment is separate from the building that has a view. I based my booking on the pictures and reviews talking abouta water view but the apartment is in a different building.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Excellent location but be prepared to climb stairs.
We had a balcony with ocean view which was beautiful!
Great host with lots of good information!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful view! property was clean and well kept. Owner communicated well, and was prompt. Directions to the meet up place should not mention the church as it makes you think you need to find the church first, which makes you walk even further
- Dana (2/5): No Air Conditioning - Extremely hot. No air conditioning even though it was listed as having it on Hotels.com. Wish we've stayed elsewhere.
Decent location. Directions to get there were confusing. Difficult having to coordinate meet up time. I'm used to that from Airbnbs, but was disappointed having to do it with a hotels.com listing.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Amazing view of Riomaggiore from our accommodation. Maddy is a very good host. We highly recommend this property when staying at 5 Terre
- Brendan (10/5): A room with a view, plus more. - Great location, fantastic views and sea breezes. Perfect place to explore all cities of the Cinque Terre. Will definitely come back.
- Alex (10/5): Fantastic - Better than the photos! - Amazing place to stay in Cinque Terre - spotless clean, host has thought of all the little details needed for the stay, and the views are amazing and the photos do not do it justice. The host goes out of her way to show you a map of the area and recommend things to do. One of our best travel experiences with AirBnB type properties yet.
- margaret (10/5): Lovely Stay in Cinque Terre - Excellent location in the heart of the village. Maddy was a wonderful host who greeted us personally and gave us a lot of great information
- Danielle (10/5): - We stayed in one of the wonderful BoMa apartments! The view was spectacular. The space was so pretty clean, and cozy. Maddy was very generous with her time and shared a lot of good information with us about the area and went well out of her way to help us have a wonderful stay. Our highest recommendations!!!
- Roy (10/5): - Awesome view of RioMaggio and the Tyrrhenean sea. Maddy who is the owner is very professional and prompt.
- Ashley (10/5): Great place! - Maddy’s place was clean, cozy, and conveniently located. I would definitely stay there again!
- Gina (10/5): Paradise. - Magical location and very nice accommodations. Maddy was very helpful and even welcomed us with a bottle of homemade Limoncello.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Views were amazing, host was very informative and helpful, and the location was perfect. Loved our stay here!
- Kevin (10/5): Could not do better - Modern, spotlessly clean apartment on the main street of Riomaggiore. Excellent sleep quality. Well managed by Maddy who went out of her way to be welcoming. Close to both station and marina.
- lesley (8/5): - Good location. Lots if information from property owner.
- Pauline (8/5): CASH ONLY ACCEPTED FOR PAYMENT OF ROOM - You need to read the very fine print when booking, as cash is the only form of payment accepted for payment of the room. Your credit card details are only taken for security, in case of cancellation.
Just a 5 minute walk from Riomaggiore train station. 5 minute walk to the beach. The apartment is ideally located in the heart of Riomaggiore on the main street (Via Colombo) next to Bar O’Netta’s. You can hear the patrons of the bar until about 2300-2400, but it is a pleasant holiday atmosphere.
The apartment is well equipped (a toaster would’ve been an asset to the place).
Maddy meets you at the apartment and gives all the tips you need for visiting the Cinque Terre coast.
I felt perfectly safe as a solo female traveller staying there.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful views from an amazing location. It's a unique apartment way up above the sea.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The apartment was clean and had an absolutely beautiful view. The host took time upon check in to go over the city maps with us, recommend restaurants, and give pointers about what to do in the area. Check in and check out was easy.
- Martha (10/5): The best of Cinque Terra! - This was a perfect location in Cinque Terra, by far the most beautiful town! Maddy was a wonderful host and provided us with a lot of information about the region. We couldn't be happier.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Everything was great. Great location and great apartment.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property is in a very good location in Riomaggiore. Very handy to the centre of the village and the marina. The appartment was clean and modern and the bedroom was large with views of the water.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Super excellent - Amazing place worth every single penny..!
Highly recommended awsome location with great Balcony direct with seaview. Unreal ciews from the room. Super clean and the owner thought of the very tiney details to give us quality time. Breakfast with balcony views is breath taking... owner was very kind and allowed us to stay slightly longer prior to our check out as the room wasn’t booked for that day.
Location spot on and we had to check in late due to train delay but the lady who manage the place was super helpful guided us in steps to meet us and helping us the check in. I will definitely come back.
- Darrell (10/5): - The manager/owner met us and provided a load of info about the area and gave us info about the room. The room was spacious, had good wifi, was clean, etc.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The property was newly renovated, shower and bathroom were excellent and nice. We did enjoy the balcony with unique sea view and Maddy's basil liquor. Older people would have to be careful, as the stairs are very steep and high. The property was very secure and in walking distance to the main street with restaurants and shops. What we liked was, that it was away from the main tourist area.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Wonderful spacious apartment but a bit noisy - We rented one of the apartments that was in the main plaza near the harbor. The communication up until our arrival was great. The host was quick to reply and very helpful. The apartment was spacious, wonderful and clean. It had everything we needed. On the second day we were greeted with a delicious gift of a basil liquor and welcoming letter. We loved everything about the place and host. Also, on check out we were able to leave our luggage and explore all day until we had to leave. However, our only complaint was that it faced the main plaza with several restaurants and bar next door and it was quite noisy even with the windows shut. Each night we weren't able to sleep until midnight/1AM when the drinkers went home. On the other hand, it was lovely to wake up and open the windows to the village (although do note if you're not a morning person this may not be the place because trucks and shops began opening at 7AM and you could once again hear the noise from the streets). We would definitely rebook but in the Air BnB simply due to the noise of being in town. Thanks for the hospitality!
- Douglas (8/5): D&E Rio 5 Terre - We had a good stay. Location was perfect distance train station for this town. Limited offering for grocery purchases as well the prices were high. Restaurant prices were also high. Beautiful scenery all around. Did trail from Riomaggiore to Manorolla. We’re rated easy on websites. We considered them moderate. There was a weather warning the one day and the whole town shut down for a light drizzle.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - We loved the view from our place, overlooking the town and great view of the ocean! On arrival, Maddy was super organized and gave good directions to our meeting spot. Our place was clean and had everything we needed. Very satisfied!
- Jess (10/5): Breathtaking Views - Welcoming host, great communication. Well located with amazing views. Would definitely recommend staying here.
- Ryan (10/5): Fantastic location and perfect hosts - Fantastic service and the owners know the area very well too, great advise on the local hikes.
Location is perfect in a beautiful little town right by the sea. The area, surroundings towns and accommodation did not disappoint.
- Scott (10/5): Fantastic location - Fantastic stay, the reviews are correct. Great location and hosts. Given great advice on the area, so thoroughly enjoyed our time.
- wendyrose (10/5): Magical Italian adventure from an eagles view. - High up overlooking the sea and the town this apartment provided an experience to be remembered forever. Mandy and Gladys looked after us kindly giving us a home base to come climbing back too after daily exhausting rambles. Loved every minute.
- Monique (10/5): - This property is very well located! Maddy was very helpful. The bed was comfortable and air conditioning was greatly appreciated!
- Kyle (10/5): - Maddy and Franco met us, assisted with parking and delivered us directly to the apartment with our luggage. Exceptionally helpful with recommendations and assisting us to have the best possible visit in Cinque Terre. The apartment is perfectly located, clean, and comfortable. Highly recommended!
- Denise (10/5): Magic views of the Med and Riomaggiore - Cant find enough superlatives to describe this magnificent little unit. Views are spectacular. And the apartment is bright airy and clean.
You do have to be fit and fond of stairs and walking. Lots of them but worth it.
- Diana (8/5): Excellent host - Appartment located in the heart of Riomaggiore. Parking spot available for an extra fee, but it worth as public parking is very expensive.
Maddy is an excellent host, provides you all details you need and she,s available for the guests when they need.
I reccomend 100%.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - This was a lovely apartment carefully maintained by Maddy and her cousin. More than just a room, it's more of a small apartment with a separate sitting room, fridge, & full bath. But the location is really the the star with views that absolutely spectacular. It makes a joke of restaurants advertising their views when they pale next to what you see from the windows every morning. I was on my own, but likely comfortable for a couple. An easy (for 5Terre) 10 min walk up from the train station or port; spotlessly clean and very safe. Easy walk into town or down to the marina for the ferry or boat tour. Of course it's all uphill back to the apartment, but that's what these cliff towns are like. The host ad her cousin were very "simpatica" and even gave me a bottle of their family-bottled limoncello as a parting gift. Grazie!
- B (8/5): - Great apartment in good location. Main bedroom very comfortable. Only issue was hidabed in living room was uncomfortable. Otherwise we had a great stay there.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Our trip to Cinque Terre was a last minute idea so we didn't have much time to find a place. This spot is amazing and the views are out of this world. There are lot of stairs involved but we thought it was worth the hike. The TV never worked and the bed was not very comfortable , but we managed to over look both and really enjoy our time in all the surrounding towns..
- Robert (10/5): Riomaggiore’s best - GREAT ROOM! Beautiful views. Clean, spacious, new. Balcony is awesome.
