Guest Reviews
- Joe (2/5): Horrible - Don’t come here.
- Sabrina (6/5): - Nice
- Ridvan (2/5): - .
- Sierra (4/5): - Booked this for Coachella neighbors seemed to be living there and just made me and a female friend feel very very unsafe
- Luisa (8/5): - They asked for deposit $20 dls .. but they lady in the office she gives me chance to get deposit later.. that was asme
- Mario (2/5): - Found 3 small roaches going around the water faucet by the sink area in the bathroom. Tv remote control did not work, a/c controls were very loose, hard to adjust the temprature. This place sucks, trash outside most rooms!
- Verified traveler (4/5): Dirty bathroom - It was only for one day but the shower was dirty with someone else's hair in it.
- Blake (2/5): - Poorly staffed. Family that owns the place converted the first room behind the front desk into a living room off of their own living quarters. So when you look behind the front desk you can see discreet into the theater living quarters dream. Super unprofessional
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Gentleman at front was kind but the whole place was a disaster. Rooms were unclean (dead roaches, no toilet paper, no towels). It was an unsanitary place. The sofa bed was unusable because it was so dirty. The man at the front gladly gave us our money back. Also, the room that we had reserved was out of order because of a clogged or leaky shower. They never called to let us know and they accommodated us with a poor replacement. The bathrooms also had electrical wires exposed with only see-through yellow tape covering them. My overall experience was terrible. We left to a Super 8 motel around the corner.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - This place is disgusting. Torn furniture, carpet stains, tv didn't work.
- Jaime (2/5): Worse place to stay - I was given a room that was still occupied. Not happy about that. And then I was given another room where the bed was horrible, I should have slept on the floor. I definitely don’t recommend this location.
- Mary (2/5): - STAY AWAY!!! We only booked here because every other place in the area was sold out! The place is absolutely DISGUSTING. Room was extremely filthy, stains on the walls and all the furniture, pubic hairs on the towels, hair in the bed, clogged sink, kitchen so dirty there’s no way you’d want to use it. Room smelled very bad (weed and god knows what else). I don’t mind staying in simple motels as long as they are somewhat clean. This is place is the worst of the worst. Never gets cleaned and owners clearly don’t care. You’re better off sleeping in your car.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Customer service was lacking and they gave a key to someone that accessed our room in the middle of the night!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - Place was dirty towels were dirty only 1 towel trash left from previous people not good
- Alek (4/5): - Overall, I didn’t feel safe staying here!.
Entry door was hard to close shut .
Countertops and kitchen sink were stained and floor mats in the bathroom was dingy and spotted. No remote to the tv.
Communicating with the staff was a little frustrating.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Desperate need of renovations and make over - This place is in desperate need of an upgrade and makeover. Black mold in bathrooms, some lights work others don’t, pool is just a mess and I wouldn’t even go near that water. It’s like someone bought an old motel with the plans to renovate and upgrade it but never got around to it!
- Marleny (4/5): Do Not Stay Here Until Motel is Renovated/Cleaned - Our room smelled like old people and mold! It seemed like it had been MONTHS, if not longer, since the last time the room had been cleaned or dusted. When taking a shower, all of the dirt came off the tub, making it a gross experience. There wasn't even a phone in our room to connect to the front desk! The WiFi NEVER worked, not for one minute.
The front desk were courteous but much more needs to be done
- jim (2/5): terrible no tv empty bottles layin on floor - terrible
- Verified traveler (8/5): Nothing fancy, but has the necessities - The room was spacious with full kitchen and big vanity closet. The shower was a stand alone, not very big, no place to put toiletries inside the shower except the ground. Water pressure wasn’t great so if you have hair, be prepared to take a while. The refrigerator was a little dirty. Check in was quick. Overall, not the Ritz but it worked for what we needed it for.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Close to the music festival I went to. And the AC worked all weekend
- Kristyn (8/5): - Decent stay. They could use some upgrading/paint to the inside of the room.
Negatives: shower was old/dirty, walls had stains/dirty, bathroom door was so bent out of shape it didn't even close, entire room had a funky smell, the WIFI didn't work, the oven didn't work either.
Pros: Staff was easy, hotel area was quiet/convenient to stores we needed. Room was very spacious & tv worked good.
Overall it was a decent stay. We aren't too picky at all & we booked this room last minute for Stagecoach weekend (so we were hardly even inside the room) so there weren't many options left available. Would stay again if we had too.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Won't go back... - I booked this motel Dec. 26, 2018 for Stagecoach in April 26-29, 2019. It was a no cancel booking. A week before the festival I tried to cancel my reservation as my uncle passed in an accident in Indiana and to go back. They wouldn't cancel it. It was a so so place. Room had a kitchenette, beds were worn out, and room wasn't cleaned that well. Over priced for what we paid $845 for the festival. The staff was friendly. Over all it was a place to sleep. Won't go back.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Very old and poorly kept. No bugs or anything like that. The pool was very green and unusable.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - It was great, no idea what the low rating is about. Friendly staff!
- Kendra (2/5): - They had terrible service. I asked for towels because I was not given any and she handed me 2 washcloths. They had no room or maid service for the 4 days I was there. Disgusting
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Definitely your basic motel. Didn’t expect any more or less than what we got. The room was large and had a kitchenette which was a plus but the deadbolt on the door did not work and the air conditioning was extremely loud. Room needed some major updates but you get what you pay for
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great location to Coachella festival friendly front desk check in
- Kate (2/5): Do not stay here - This place was not great! Nobody picks up the phone and the service was awful
- Lee (8/5): - This is one of those 'it is what it is' properties, yet it's well kept, clean and tidy and has comfortable beds (it's also quiet!) and enough of the necessities to do just fine.
The personnel are pleasant and helpful.
So, it's NOT the Bellagio, however, for the price it is great. Just lie back and close your eyes!
- Verified traveler (2/5): - the manager was very rude. the property was very dirty. there was gang members on this property. my car was damaged. the room was very dirty and the towels had holes in them. the sheets were not changed and had hair on them. the phone in the room did not work and the manager was not willing to give us another room.
- Wade (2/5): - Room was not clean, rusty screws in the shower drain sticking out pose issues and lots of hairs on the shower wall.
- Devorah M (4/5): - The service was really good but the room and everything were REALLY DIRTY
- Karen (2/5): Disastrous! - On three different occasions I made a request to the manager to evict the neighbor for the drug and partying and environment and activity that was going on they kept me up all night with no sleep! The marijuana alone was coming through the walls into my room primarily the bathroom was filled with it . But to more of my surprise the ongoing visitors constantly through the evening in and out quick visits exchange money for drugs and one stayed over into a room with already two females and only one bed !!!. To my surprised they weren't even willing to refund me or move me. I was treated poorly. I was in that area for business in relations to my family's businesses and properties due to probate. I left extremely upset and the police were called. I don't know what happened after I left. I made one more call to find out why my card is being held up on what they call a merchant to my surprise the manager couldn't figure out how to fix that problem which held up my account for two more days.No credits replied! I would not recommend anyone to stay there. They need to have code enforcement come out! And walk the property and clean up the violations that should be addressed for trash exposure unclean environment very old and rundown. I don't believe they even wash the bedspreads per visit which is unacceptable in the hotel business. Unfortunately on my past visit that was the only place that was available because High season so they make good money.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Large room with full kitchen. Older motel but clean and well maintained. On main road but set back so no noticeable noise. Best deal at the time in an overpriced Indian Wells tennis market.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Room small and shower didn’t have holder for soap or shampoo. No kleenix so used extra roll of toulet paper. Paid $111 and notvworth the price. More like a $50 room rate appeopriate
- Verified traveler (6/5): - The property is old and needs a refresh. Bathroom ancient but the toilet was clean. Peeling paint, deadbolt inoperative, door looks like someone kicked it in.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Mold in the shower ceiling.
Kitchen and bathroom light bulbs flickered.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Tweakers Paradise!! Bedbugs roaches and black mold - If you like mold, meth, and bed bugs this is your place!!! Drug dealers are in 112 so get your tweak on! Beware drug deals go on ALL NIGHT!! Property owner will not and does not keep on eye out on his property and will steal your cash!
- Vivian (8/5): A place to rest your head. - This place is dated, YES. BUT if all you're looking for is a place to rest your head and not spend a lot of money then this is a place.
Carpet is old, sticky. But hey, no matter what hotel I go to, I always bring in house slippers.
Towels were not the whitest but clean? Yes.
I bring a sheet no matter where I go to cover the bedspread. So what I do to visit this hotel is no different from when I go to other hotels.
- Hilda (2/5): Don’t stay here - Just horrible
- Elizabeth (8/5): Older but clean motel - My stay was adequate. Everything was very clean. Older motel, a little outdated but serves its community.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Great place would recommend to anyone visiting the valley
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Although very old, it was clean. The TV had a very good picture and channel selection. The door lacked proper seal from the cold air. The towels were old and rough to the touch.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very friendly staff. Clean room. My flight was delayed and I late to check in. I was settled without problems. Thank you!
- Ramona (4/5): Dont stay at WESTERN SANDS IN INDIO. - Well the set up was ok had kitchen fridge stove.....BUT THE PLACE WAS VERY DIRTY! Sink in kitchen had so much nasty build up was disgusting and the shower was dirty as heck. Yea i wouldnt want to stay there ever again!
- Patrice (2/5): HOTELS.COM OWES ME A REFUND PERIOD - When we walked in and the room was not clean AT ALL! It smelled like someone squatted and took a poop in the middle of the floor and trash, their was crumbs, trash and food from the last people who stayed here in the cabinets. So literally we had to go to the store buy cleaning products to clean and scrub down the room to get rid of the smell not to mention disinfecting everything including the shower which was filthy and full of black mold (YES I SAID BLACK MOLD not a big deal or anything) as you can see in the pictures. The bathroom door does not close, the microwave caught on fire and was replaced with an even dirtier one that I guess they refused to clean. Remote in the room doesnt work, cabinets are dirty, toilet had poop stains in it. It was my husband, sister and 3 little kids, 5, 1 and 8 months which I refused to bathe because of so much black mold on the door, the floor and walls of the shower. Now we would like to assume that Hotels.com would investigate each hotel make sure they are up to par but apparently that NEVER happened. THANKS FOR THE HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I guarantee they will be hearing from the health department though.

- John (8/5): Open during construction. - This poor business is suffering due to heavy construction right in front from village and state road crews. I stayed longer....paid in cash and have a FUTURE BOOKING because I feel badly for family business suffering. Sure it is your basic....economical choice but the owners are a family and trying hard.
- John (8/5): - This is a family run budget no frills hotel that is getting killed by the ROAD construction. I feel for them. I really do. I stayed longer and prayed for them because it's empty. The place has entrance blocked out by large construction vehicles from sunrise to sunset for better than a month. Its not fair.
- Richard (2/5): Last Resort - The place was really dirty. From the furniture to the moldy shower
- Sean (2/5): Transients and Cochella Losers love this place! - The room we stayed in was filthy. The toilet looked as it hadn't been cleaned properly since 2015. There was filth and dirt everywhere, The bed sheets had black hairs all over them. I went to the front desk and asked the room be cleaned. The desk clerk looked confused. I showed her pictures. She sent someone else to the desk. He look equally confused. I asked that the bathroom be made sanitary and clean sheets be put on the beds. When we returned 8 hours later nothing had been done. The deadbolt to lock the door did not work so if you want to secure the door at night you can slide the arm chair in front of the door. The wifi is almost as slow as dial up and you can not stream netflix.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Horrible, dirty, & old - Horrible - very dirty and run down. The towels and sheets didn't seem to have been actually washed. They might just shake them off and put them back on the rack and on the bed.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Dirty!!! - Dirty! Unpleasant! We didn’t even stay the second night as it was so uneasy to sleep. This was a 1 star. That’s what we get for booking so late. The only plus was the guy was very nice at super late check in and the room was LARGE. But some extra cleaning would have really gone a long way. Oh, and no gas hooked up to the oven/stove. Good thing we didn’t want to cook.
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The room was absolutely filthy. There was a huge hole in the ceiling that was leaking and the carpet was soaking wet. it smelled awful. when staff was notified they refused to change me to another room or refund my money.
- Sean (2/5): Vomit Town - This hotel is absolutely disgusting the rooms are filthy. The toilet looked like it hadn’t been cleaned since Coachella 2015. I took pictures show them to the desk clerk and ask that the room be cleaned. They looked very confused and went and got another clerk. He said he would have the room cleaned. We came back about eight hours later the toilet was still filthy the beds were not made and the trash was not taken out. The deadbolt to secure the door did not work. To secure the door at night I had to move the arm chair in front of the door to keep her from opening. The sheets well the appeared clean are also full of black hairs. The kitchen cabinets are filthy on the inside the drawers we were expected to put clothing are filthy on the inside it basically has the Cleanliness of a busy gas station bathroom on a deserted highway.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The double room is HUGE! It has a full kitchen with a fridge and sink.. the room was clean and we really enjoyed it.
- Francis (4/5): - Room has that unexplainable pungent smell. I had to spray a lot of my expensive perfume in order to mask the terrible smell. Bedsheets looks dirty. The door is hard to open. Overall, it was a bad about experience.
- timothy (10/5): Large roomed hotel. - nice large room and large bathroom.. very friendly room attendent. Pool are had lots of litter and trash in pool and around the pool. Hot tub had strong jets.
- Jen (4/5): - This hotel is dirty, run down and noisy Our room had broken and filthy bathroom blinds a ripped screen on the front window, dirty floors and smelled strongly of cigarette smoke. The bar two doors down also did not improve the general feeling of the place. Noise until 2am. I woukd never recommend this place.
- Richard (8/5): I have stayed here several times - This hotel is clean and comfortable and a good value for the money. The staff is very nice. The pool area is nice. There is easy in-and-out access to the rooms.
- Lee (10/5): Nice stay, very comfortable beds. - Checked in late but front desk was very nice and helpful.
- Todd (2/5): Don’t waste your money! - One of the nastiest place we have stayed at from room to the pool won’t stay there even if it was free and you payed me 500$!!!!!!!!
- Erika (2/5): Never Stay Here - Room stayed hot even with their “AC” had to change rooms cause the room they originally gave me the AC didn’t work. Rude service, it is a family owned business but the whole family was rude. The tv didn’t work, towels had black stains on them & they tried to cover them up by turning th towels to the clean sides, roaches in the bathroom & the toilet worked when it wanted.
- LP (4/5): - The only reason we stayed is because it was the cheapest, and closest to the venue and everywhere else was sold out. We basically felt like we were camping. The floors were dirty, not vacuumed (there was a dried orange peel on the floor when we arrived,) the bathroom walls and showers had dark mold all over, floor to ceiling. The bath towels were sand paper, and we were given 2 for 3 people. There were no kitchen supplies at all, but a full kitchen....(bring your own pots and pans? To a motel?) The beds were okay, sheets were clean. Air conditioner worked..... the POOL was not filtered, nor were there any posted signed about water quality or ph levels.... and had black widows in the filters. Did not get in (think scene from Dante’s peak... wasn’t going to risk it)
- Verified traveler (4/5): - tv did not work !
- chris (2/5): - Booked this hotel on the recommendation of 3 stars by hotels.com. What a mistake. Filthy place and smelled. No remote in room, when going to office to get remote then T V didn’t work. Booked for two days, was given half my money back but still could not stay the night and left. How could this motel be rated 3 stars????
- Verified traveler (2/5): - I woulnt have my dog sleep in that filth pile. Worst room i have ever seen the US. Blood on the shower curtain along with pink dirt/mildew. Tub had caked dirt like its never been cleaned. No colors in the room matched. Orange wall and door with fleshtone paint thrown on other wall. Green curtains, black and tan tiger stripe carpeting. Dont recommend for even ex wife. Not worth $5.
- Jane (2/5): Scary - Scary experience. Hotel is very rundown and not very clean. The other guests did not look like travellers but seemed to live there permanently - sitting outside all day, piling laundry and shoes outside, etc. Worst of all, we were woken to someone knocking on the (very flimsy) door at 1am...
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Everything is old. Advertises full kitchen but has absolutely zero dishes. Kitchen is pretty disgusting.
- Erica (6/5): - Ummm I guess it’s fine if you don’t plan on being in the room much for the price on the weekend I went (stagecoach) I guess you can’t really complain. I found some dead bugs on the floor and one in the bed I honestly considered sleeping in my car
- Diana (2/5): - I can not recommend this motel. My experience was very unfavorable!
- Verified traveler (6/5): Close to Coachella. Dirty as a truck stop bathroom - Close to the music festival. Very dirty and not worth the $300+ they attempt to charge. Maybe worth the $25/night they normally charge. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else unless you have no other choices.
- Gerald (2/5): - Dump!!!
- Barb (8/5): Slow Internet - When we arrived - TV didn't work - immediately resolved. Then audio was muffled - again taken care of immediately. Internet was slow- no internet for part of our stay....
Overall, a good experience - loved the refrigerator and microwave. An alarm clock in the room would have been nice.
Good place to stay at reasonable rates.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Good location for the Tennis Tourney - Ugly room and motel but very cheap price! Couldn't find anything for a reasonable price so had to book here. Wouldn't return but best bang for buck in the area!
- Mary (10/5): Great times at Western Sands Motel - This my 2nd time i come here and i stayed and booked it again to have fun in the pool with grandkids and family there rooms are great and with full kitchen priveledges that is more great this was great for Easter at Western Sands Motel i highly recommend to stay here from know on this is my place to stay.
- Verified traveler (6/5): Old and not clesn - Mold in the shower
Need I say more?
- Gary (4/5): Not exactly the Waldorf - An outdated property that's never been updated. Rooms are spacious but have old carpeting and bed spreads. Shower stall and kitchen were grungy . No Wi-Fi, no phone, no clock. On the plus side, it's on a road with several restaurants and a short drive to Palm Springs and the southern entrance to Joshua Tree National Park. Friendly desk clerk.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Not the worst, but not great - Nice service for a small family run place. My only complaint is the cleanliness. The bathroom was moldy all over, and the pillowcases had hair all over them. It's awesome that there was a kitchen and fridge, but again, very dirty. A new coat of paint would help!
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For an older independently owned motel, it was alright. The biggest frustration was that the WIFI internet access was terrible. It was as if all the users were being funneled through an old dial up modem. It was almost useless.
