- glensS3465GW (10/5): I wouldn't stay anywhere else - I have been returning to the Roosevelt Inn for the past three years for my annual summer visit to the FDR Springwood estate and library, It's a wonderfully charming place to stay, always clean, welcoming, and convenient to all local attractions. On my very first visit, I booked a rustic room, but changed to a delux unit the following years so I could control the a/c temperature, and if you have mobility issues, a first floor room is advised to avoid the steps. You will certainly enjoy your stay and will look forward to your next visit.
- corydalis (10/5): Wonderful for a short or long stay - We have stayed here at least 10 times in the last 10 years; it’s perfect for us, and we can’t imagine staying anywhere else. Our deluxe room had all the amenities you could want: super-comfy king-size bed with wonderful pillows, nice bathroom, two sinks, chairs and table for snacks, easy chair for reading, mini-fridge, air conditioning, large TV, wifi, two luggage racks, good bedside reading lamps, plus nice extras like both liquid and bar soaps, shampoos, iron and ironing board, chair outside on the porch, and picnic tables behind the coffee shop. Continental breakfast in the coffee shop was good, and the staff was always friendly and helpful. The location is convenient to the Culinary Institute, FDR estate and many Hudson Valley mansions. The cost is very reasonable, too. We will definitely stay here on our next trip to the area.

Checking in was easy and the front desk was very friendly. I appreciated their printed food recommendations not just in Hyde Park but also Poughkeepsie etc.

Good water pressure and plenty of hot water in shower, plenty of towels, television had plenty of channels and worked perfectly, though no MSNBC. Quiet and convent to attractions and shopping in area. CONS: No electric outlets near desk area. No adjustment to room temperature that I could find, but temperature was comfortable for me.

It is a pristine, blast-from-the-past motel where the old time feel has been preserved in the most conscientious way. The room was cleaner than any I have been in at any hotel or motel and the bed was more comfortable than any bed I've slept in at a motel or hotel anywhere. The simplicity of this place makes it just perfect. Not too much, not too little of anything. Everything needed is thoughtfully and carefully provided. The breakfast room is adorable and the grounds are beautifully kept as well. I'm grateful that this place exists and wish there were more like it!

- kymom99 (10/5): Classic Inn in Hyde Park - This was our second visit to the inn. We came to visit our son, who works for the National Parks. The location is perfect, just minutes from his job sites and house. We saved so much time not having to drive back and forth to Poughkeepsie. The price is very fair, and even better for us because they offer a returning guest discount. We had the family suite this time, which is a large room on the second floor with 2 double beds, and a smaller room with 2 twins. It was perfect because we had our grandson along this time. There is a small table with 4 chairs that came in handy for playing board games and having snacks. Since we stayed 6 nights, we were able to schedule a room refresh one time during our stay. They also brought us fresh towels each morning when we requested them. The Roosevelt Inn is a retro style motel that is well maintained. The owners take great care to keep things in good repair. They also have house rules in place to ensure that guests feel comfortable and safe. If you visit with the attitude that this is not a chain hotel, you will love the charm and beauty of the inn.

- 151lisaz (4/5): Just Like The '50s: No WiFi, No A/C, No Elevators - We would not stay here again. Let me start with the positives: the location is great and the staff are super nice. But the rooms are dingy. The A/C is wall units and were not up to the task. When they are running you're blasted with freezing cold air, when they stop, you're sweating hot. So don't visit during the heat of the summer. The WiFi situation was extremely inconvenient. We had been warned by both the hotel and reviews that they choke down the WiFi. Our first night there was no issue, but for the rest of the visit it barely worked. It didn't "choke down," it threw us offline completely. Even if we only had one computer turned on, we were still thrown offline. This was very problematic as we were trying to make plans with another couple and needed to access the internet. The internet even didn't work for us at 4 a.m., which is a problem is you are trying to do any travel planning. Finally, if your room is on the second floor there are no elevators (we had been warned of this by other reviewers but wanted to reiterate that). Also, rooms are not serviced during your stay so be aware you will need to make your own beds and tidy your own room. The breakfast is very simple and basic, the coffee was weak but there's a coffee kiosk walking distance from the inn called Ready Stop which I highly recommend and they open at 5 a.m. The A/C situation made sleeping very uncomfortable but don't expect to be able to doomscroll to lull yourself back to sleep!

The remodel was done by experts so everything looks brand new. The staff is very friendly and helpful with advice about the local area. Hyde Park is a very cool town that FDR would be proud of to this day.

- 757jasont (10/5): Old time charm in a well maintained setting. - My wife and I enjoyed our stay at The Roosevelt Inn if Hyde Park last evening. It was refreshing to stay in a small "old style" motel where the office is part of the owner's residence. It was reminiscent of the motels that I stayed in with my parents as a young boy, but, despite the darkened pine paneling (something sadly missing from modern motels), our room was fresh and clean and was just what the website advertised. If we have the opportunity to visit the area again, we will be sure to revisit the Roosevelt Inn!

- Realdealreview (10/5): Perfect little roadside motel - Don’t hesitate to stay at this hotel! This is a true motel that is very well-maintained. The exterior is painted perfectly and everything is very neat and clean. The interior is a true motel but the beds are very comfortable and bathroom flooring, etc. is very clean. It’s been 30 years since I’ve been to this particular hotel, and it’s still a great value and great little motel owned by the same people locals of Hyde Park.

- 674Laura (10/5): Awesome! Clean and neat - I stayed one night at the Roosevelt Inn and had a great experience. The place is so much better than a hotel. Very clean and efficient and at a great price. There was a printed card with the housekeeping rules and I appreciated that they were very clear about them. It doesn’t usually happen. My recent experiences with hotels that double (or triple) the price of this one have been disappointing for one reason or other (smelly pillows for ex.) but everything was great here. I highly recommend it if you are in the area.

- annhR3394IV (10/5): Wonderful little motel - If I could find a place like this in every town I would stay there. The entire place is spotless, inside and out. Updated furnishings, nice table and chairs to sit, comfortable bed. I have had this trip planned for a year and unexpected knee surgery, the owner personally brought a shower chair to the room so I would be comfortable in the shower. Check in was easy and friendly. We loved the little diner area for breakfast. They had cereal, fruit, donuts, bagels, coffee and juice. They were continually filling it up as needed. Perfect spot to stay when visiting the FDR sights. We loved it.

- kymom99 (10/5): Hyde Park Gem - The Roosevelt inn is well kept and a perfect location for visiting the attractions in Hyde Park. You can’t beat the price. We stayed for the first time while in town to visit our son who works at the national park sites nearby. We had a room on the ground floor that had 2 full size beds. The room was very clean and everything was in good repair. If there is anything negative, I would say the heater was very loud. The towels were nice and smelled so good! We appreciated the fridge that was provided in the room. There’s a cute little coffee shop where a continental breakfast is served. There are various baked items such as bagels and donuts. You can also find individual boxes of cereal and packets of oatmeal. There were bananas available as well. You could get tea and coffee all day. There are several tables in the coffee shop. Since we stayed 4 nights, we could request a room cleaning one day. The housekeeper did an amazing job redoing the room for us. It was so nice coming back to a fresh room. If you are traveling to the area, I would certainly recommend giving this place a try. While we were in the area, we took a train to NYC, hiked at minnewaska state park, toured FDR and Vanderbilt sites, and enjoyed Rhinebeck.

They also go out of their way to serve up a continental breakfast in a little breakfast room. The lady at the desk was very nice, and it wasn’t too noisy despite being on the main road. Parking is convenient, check in was easy and friendly and continental breakfast is serve yourself in the cute little “cafe”. There is a water cooler with filtered water where you can fill your own water bottles. The rooms are very clean and comfortable. In addition to the sink on the bathroom there is another in a built in bar area with coffee maker and an ice bucket. It’s so convenient to the attractions, it’s silly to stay out of town.

- RICART75 (10/5): Top contender.... - On a return visit to the Hudson River Valley (having been in the area for 10 days in the Spring), we spent four days here during the Labor Day weekend. The motel is a well-maintained, local facility; with a pleasant old-school ambiance. We chose a first floor unit (#4, since 2nd floor rooms require climbing stairs); which allowed us to park right outside our door, for convenient loading/unloading. Our room was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Though the whole complex has a retro feel; one still receives all the in-room amenities, one expects in today's travels. The complimentary breakfast is provided in a charming little Cafe themed room, with indoor/outdoor seating. The offerings are basic, but fresh and continually replenished. Ice and microwave access are available throughout the day. The staff were all friendly, accommodating and responsive. The location is ideal for easy driving to many of the Hudson River Valley's most iconic features/landmarks/structures. If one is seeking clean, comfortable, and affordable accommodations while visiting the area; this establishment is a top contender.
- Lori (10/5): Highly recommend! - This was probably the nicest old-style motel I’ve ever stayed in. The room was basic, but clean and spacious. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast room was very cute. It was also one of the best continental breakfasts—no hot food, but good variety of pastries (love the multigrain options!) Well maintained and obvious pride in the business!

They do bring in fresh Dunkin Donuts daily! Priced right for these inflationary times and for a holiday weekend. Highly recommends.

The owners were very helpful and suggested dinner in Rhinebeck, which is about 10 miles away.The breakfast was served in a former coffee shop and was very enjoyable! The overall stay was a blast from the past. I highly recommend!

- Debra (10/5): Great value for a nice room - Nice motel. There is a breakfast room with continental breakfast. That’s rare for a motel. Nice room, very clean. We stayed to go to Dutchess county fair. Owner told is there would be trucks coming in at night that were workers from the fair. I appreciated the “heads up” as they were a little noisy but I knew what to expect. Will stay here again!

We stayed here because it is just down the street from the FDR Presidential Museum, but it's convenient to many towns along the Hudson River Valley. The friendly staff recommended restaurants and other places to visit. It's not a fancy place, but we found the price reasonable and enjoyed supporting a local hotel.
