Guest Reviews
- Mário (1/5): I want my money back, cause I had to come to sleep at my home - I didn't like nothing, cause it's closed by police, due to a fire two years ago, and still active for booking on booking.
I want my money back, oyo is answering with IA, and I feel helpless If it was open,or someone honest could tell me what happened and give my money back in time I could book an open hotel to enjoy my stay and weekend in Leicester
- Ian (1/5): Bad - Hotel was closed upon arrival with no prior notification. Had to arrange alternative accomudation at the last minute at additional cost.
- Laura (1/5): Didn’t stay because it isn’t open!!!! - It doesn’t exist! Turned up and the hotel had tape around it, no roof and no one had been in that place for years! Called the company, who hung up on me when I said there hotel didn’t exist! Then tried to tell me they sent a cancellation email to me 25 days ago, yet charged my card less that a week ago! Thieves and liars! Booking.com need to do their research!
- C (1/5): A BIG LET DOWN - The accommodation cancelled at 09:10 on the day of our supposed arrival. I was relieved by this as the reviews were shocking
DO NOT BOOK THIS ACCOMMODATION
- Mariec (1/5): Dreadful would never go back - Nothing Worst hotel I have ever stayed in . No towel, soap , duvet or pillow covers . No hot water . It smelt awful
- Rocknrolla3012 (9/5): Superb - Very convenient and staff were helpful
- Marek (10/5): Exceptional -
- Yvonne (7/5): Good -
- Young (1/5): Bad -
- Tomaszewicz (6/5): Pleasant -
- Smith (1/5): Bad -
- Dany (10/5): Exceptional -
- Dany (10/5): Exceptional - The place was verry clean, and the stuff was really nice.
- Sarah (8/5): Very good - This hotel is no frills., i get the feeling it is being upgraded, the beds were new and very comfortable, the linen very white and clean. The staff were helpful and pleasant, value for money, there was no food available, but uber food deliver and there are lots of places to eat nearby. We even got a full english breakfast .. delivered .. yum. Check in /out no problem. I would stay there again Stairs, quite a lot of stairs, (i requested a ground floor room) the ground floor was up some steps
- Dudley (5/5): Average room with friendly staff. - The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was acceptable and was clean. The shower was very small and only trickled out. There wasn't even a mirror in the bathroom.
- Sachithra (7/5): Good -
- Anonymous (10/5): Exceptional -
- Sparrowolini (3/5): Not great - We booked this hotel purely for the location. The bed was ok and pretty clean. Room was bizarrely laid out. Cupboards all wonky, shower didn't close. The decor and maintenance was shoddy at best.
- Charles (7/5): Good - Good
- Uweis (9/5): Confort and Peaceful Stay near Victoria Park, Leicester - I liked the property, the fact that it is located in a good area near Victoria Park in Leicester, near many restaurants and fast food, near the city, and quite place.
The staff are very helpful helping gusts their luggage and explaining about the location, or calling a Taxi.
I recommend anyone who would like to take a walk at Victoria Park and to the City. Local Transportation is marvellous across the main road. They need to instal fans in the bedrooms, during Summer is very hot. Still, they are renovating the Hotel to upgrade their status.
- Prazina (7/5): Amazing location and friendly staff. - Room is good and comfortable. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks not available in the hotel.
- Vladimir (5/5): Not bad after all - I liked the location. Near enough to city centre and far away enough from the noise at the same time The room was very small and there was dust everywhere. It was on the top floor, very hot and stuffy. Then bathroom was OK. The doors in between the floors were very heavy and when people were coming up or down the banging was load enough to wake me up.
- Sam (1/5): HORRIFIC! - Nothing. Completely different name to what is advertised. The property is actually called Kush’s Star Hotel.
Staff are rude and will demand for illegal photocopies of your ID to be taken before check in, they also don’t tell you that they don’t destroy these copies, they keep them on file indefinitely. (Illegal according to GDPR)
The “hotel” if you can call it that is dirty, damaged everywhere and is nothing like the photos on the booking.com website. They do not have aircon like advertised and will lie to you to get you off their backs.
The room was extremely dirty with hair on the floor and bedding and everywhere in the bathroom.
Not to mention the damage inside the room like the curtain rail hanging off that they will try and charge you for if you don’t tell them before you leave.
Lastly, I hope you like sleeping with one eye open because you can’t lock your room door so anyone can just walk in!
- Scaia (1/5): Absolutely disgusting. - The location corresponded with the one indicated in the map. The whole experience was disgusting. There was only 1 towel and when I asked for another one, they gave me a horrible towel stained with bleach. The bed was very big but it was disgusting. The sheets were dirty, they had weired marks PLUS a horrible blood mark. Absolutely disgusting. The carpet was also very dirty. Also, there was NO signal saying this was an OYO hotel, it only read "Star hotel".
- Scott (8/5): Very good -
- Anup (1/5): Worst place to stay - Too small, suffocating and full of bed-bugs. Room was too small however few things that put us off was. 1. The flush will work very poorly 2. The shower was awful 3. It was too hot with improper ventilation. 4. Just before we were about to go to sleep my son got bit by bedbug and that is where we saw few of them around the bed crawling. Family got too paranoid and decided to vacate the hotel as we were already too unhappy with the reception going up and down the room for an hour or so. We left in just 1 hour after we checked in the evening and left the place around midnight back home.
- Jedd (1/5): Never again - Room had a weird smell. The shower pressure wasnt good. Had to ask for more toilet tissue as there was less then half a roll. And staff to busy on their phones. But you get what you pay for. Only plus is its only like a 5 min drive to city center. I diden't like anything
- Raage (5/5): I was welcomed by the night receptionist who was very friendly, but when I came to the room to sleep in I noticed two ye - It was a quite convenient place to travel to and from My bed sheet had two yellow stains, which I requested the daytime receptionist to change when I left, which he did not.
- James (3/5): Poor - Location Bed. Bins full of rubbish. No towels
Sink had no plug and was extremely unclean
- Anil (7/5): Pleasant staff and good location. - Staff were very friendly and helpful. Location is near City center. You get what you pay for so no complaints
- Richard (7/5): it suited me for it's location and it being only a 2 night stay - close to Leicester and particular De Montford hall Checked in and was asked to pay an additional £4. why? I asked and was answered with a surly "don't know" Room had no china cup but a clear plastic one. no spoon .
- Kelly (5/5): Passable - Good location and comfy bed Actually having Towels in bathroom (not even a towel in the room to dry your hands with), working tv, walls are very thin so can hear everyone and anyone and got very hot so could have done with a fan
- Peter (7/5): Good - Location, parking, cost No towels in room,
Blind did not cover window so room still quite light while trying to sleep
- Takudzwa (7/5): Good -
- Elizabeth (7/5): would I stay again … yes ! but don’t expect the ritz - close to where we needed to be didn’t like we didn’t have cups in the room for the tea/ coffee facilities…. very clean room and bathroom and the bed was very comfortable
- Mike (5/5): My stay was gd but breakfast I dd not get it I was disappointed and disturbed - Reception guys was very friendly Breakfast not available
- Sangam (9/5): Superb -
- Josh (3/5): Not bad for the money - Clean rooms No hot water
- Mathew (6/5): Pleasant - Location Need to more clean.
- Steffany (6/5): Great budget hotel and friendly staff - Staff were super friendly and polite, and the bed was comfortable. It was clean, and perfectly fine budget hotel. Location is a nice quite residential area near the university and 02 academy. Reception is manned 24 hours which made us feel safer coming back at night. It was red hot all night, the heating was on despite it being 17° out. There was no kettle provided (but there was tea and coffee) even after we asked. No soap in the dispenser.
- Anonymous (3/5): It was a bed to sleep in for one night. - The room I was shown to was clean and warm although very basic Unfortunately when I booked this hotel on Booking. com there was no mention that the hotel was not accepting guests as they were trying to renovate it. It did feel and look a bit run down and was not like the pictures on the website.
- Beetham-davies (10/5): Good for 60, best nearby if on sale or cheaper. - Everything's great especially if u get it on a sale. It's average for £60 maybe bit small but u can very easily get it cheaper in which case as someone who has been to lots of hotels it's amazing value best I've stayed in for price range easily.
It's very classy in good area and looks great at nice with really friendly helpful staff.
The water and stuff was always great. Theres also a sink downstairs u can top up water bottles with for free and tables and fridge which no other hotels nearby have. Even more expensive bigger ones.
Really great big TV as well especially compared to other hotels for even higher prices. I'm not sure if I could get housekeeping?
- George (9/5): Superb -
- Adil (2/5): not again at all - Very accommodative & helpful staff, always smiling even they changed the room as initial room assigned to me was tooooo small, on my request they put me in a decent size single room. heating was tooo good 24/7. Poor living standards, bed was very uncomfortable, dirty rooms & toilet even there were no toilet paper. loads of cockroach in the bathroom and bed room. furniture was very old and dirty. very stinking smell throughout the accommodation. No breakfast available !!!
- Trevor (7/5): Star Hotel in Leicester - Having read most recent reviews before booking was not sure what to expect but found room given good enough for myself. For me nothing found to dislike.
- Sarahjayne (8/5): clean tidy nice staff great value for money - the staff are very friendly felt very comfortable here
- Christine (4/5): Disappointing - Location great. No breakfast offering. Only plastic cups in the room. Far too hot. TV no network connection so didn't work. Asked for this to be corrected, bno one came to my room. I am disabled and couldn't go down again to get help. No bedside lamp or power point near the bed.
- Thomas (3/5): Terrible - When I left No hot water, no terrestrial TV (BBC , ITV) no breakfast. Bed very uncomfortable. Plastic cups for tea & coffee thought Covid-19 was over. Staff not very helpful. Would never stay again. If this is the standard that booking.com has too offer might start looking else were. At night your window lights up purple from lights outside.
- Wright (3/5): Poor - good location no hot water at all (or help to fix/relocate) and no toilet paper
- Thayalan (1/5): very badly - not clean no
- Dean (7/5): good value for money - it was close by to where I needed to be the toilet seat was on the floor , the tv didn’t work and the window didn’t shut properly but no big deal as it was just somewhere to sleep for the night
- Tich (10/5): Exceptional -
- Olamilekan (5/5): Passable -
- Julius (2/5): No towel, and not even told. - convenient Reception was bad.
- Beaumont (4/5): Besides having to get rid of some Beatles not awful. - Comfy warm room. There was bugs in the kettle
- Anonymous (4/5): Disappointing - this property was bad
- Ahmed (1/5): Bad - I don’t like this property at all dirty and stinky never come again The room I choose, it wasn’t that dirty, stinky horrible
- Thayalan (8/5): Very good -
- Erdi (5/5): Passable -
- Josette (2/5): Am really disappointed with this property. Not what I expected. - There was no breakfast There was nothing to like. The heater in both rooms 21 + 22 was not working. The linen on the beds were stained. Really disappointed with the hotel. We went out to get something to eat when we got back, the lights at reception was out. You would think that at a lobby there would be proper lighting. I would like a refund on my payment.
- Sarah (1/5): Bad -
- Alexandra (7/5): Good -
- Chris (5/5): Passable - I’ve stayed here a few times . Location/parking and price suit me They checked me into a room which hadn’t been cleaned properly . Sat on the bed and spotted something on top of the wardrobe... 4 empty bottles of vodka . Opened wardrobe...more cans and a half eaten Indian meal .😆

- Munir (1/5): Bad -
- David (3/5): Poor -
- Brent (1/5): shocking - nothing no hot shower
freezing cold room
thought I had walked back in time
- Chris (7/5): Good - Not a palace but cheap and clean in the right location
- Ehtsham (7/5): Good value for money. -
- Julius (10/5): a saviour - I missed my last train to London and I had a bicycle. The guy at the reception was very understanding and allowed me to park my bike inside at a safe place. No one was distracted. I will always go to this place whenever I have to stay in Leicester because of how understanding they are.
- Munir (10/5): Exceptional -
- Gavin (1/5): Nope - The wifi signal was strong. The hotel is a mess; from the general finish to the poor and shoddy fixtures and fittings. Surfaces had a dirty appearance, and even the towel had what looked like a blood stain.
No bedside lamp, why?
The hotel is cheap, but even at the reduced price of £47, the room was way too expensive -- and I was, apparently, given the "better room". I dread to think what the worse room was like.
The advertised "city views" were the 'scenic' look over the rear carpark, complete with piles of rubbish and the backs of neighbouring buildings.
Noise in the evening of what sounded like someone assembling furniture in a nearby room added nothing to the ambience.
Exposed wires within the room appeared to be spliced and taped in an amateur manner, and most bathroom fixtures and decorations had a distinctly poor DIY look. The shower tap turned on/off counter to that expected, the shower rail fell apart mid-shower, and the toilet was to close to the wall.
The TV relied entirely on signing into your own subscription accounts, which often failed due to the nature of the Android install.
The room looked nothing like the photo on the booking page. The wallpaper was bubbling off the walls and all furniture was well worn, stained, or broken.
- Amass (4/5): Had a very cold night - tThe room and linen were clean there was no heating and the kettle was not working
- Rafik (4/5): Disappointing -
- Chris (7/5): Good -
- Tom (6/5): Pleasant -
- Ravuama (9/5): Superb -
- Martis (1/5): Catastrophic i want my money back. - Nothing. The room was dirty the bedding hasnt been changed or washed properly, staff couldn’t speak english, TV wasnt running as the wifi was way too slow for it to operate.
- Imtiaz (1/5): Bad -
- Joanna (8/5): Very good -
- Guste (6/5): Pleasant -
- Richard (5/5): Passable -
- Wasseem (4/5): filthy , old , unfriendly staff , nobody understands you when u call them . - avoid filthy
- Natalija (1/5): 68€ for night - Experience so bad iv got first time in my life. I don’t like it at all!!! Room cold, dirty! tv remote control doesn’t work. plastic cups! bathroom radiator cold! no hot water.
- Emmanuel (7/5): Good -
- Nick (6/5): Fair place! - The location and the price are good and as well when we had difficulties with the unit, the employee working there was nice and helped!
Oh, and they had a pretty cool smart TV! It isn't the cleanest place, the facilities are a bit to the down side. The mattress on which I slept was leaning and I was falling off the bed and the other mattress was very dirty. The towels were dirty too, the heating system didn't have a switch and it was amazingly hot during the night. Even so, for the money, it's a fair place!
- Kacie (4/5): Ok but not worth the money - The TV Room had no heating or hot water. Would've been warmer sleeping outside
- Leeroy (10/5): Exceptional - It was very nice clean cumfy
- Emma (3/5): would not recommend…ever - proximity of where I needed to be room was freezing cold, no heating, yet landing area was boiling hot. 2 windows were wide open when we arrived at 8.30pm.
tv was smashed and I’m going to guess unusable, I didn’t try and turn it on. but the remote was left on the bed if I wanted to try 🤦🏻♀️
shower curtain was about 3 ft too short for the bath. pointless.
the door was open when we got to the room and it looked like it had previously been opened with force as around the lock was damaged excessively.
bedding seemed clean and fresh but floor and surfaces weren’t as clean as they could have been.
polystyrene cups for the morning cuppa wasn’t really giving £85 a night vibes if I’m honest. don’t think it would have been worth £40
- Tanya (1/5): Bad -
- Michael (7/5): Good -
- Yash (7/5): Good -
- Michael (2/5): Horrendous - First room allocated on the third floor was damp, fusty smell and no heating at all. The small electric heater given did not work in the sockets in the room.
Second room on the first floor was slightly better although still no central heating but the small electric heater did work in here. No plug in bathroom sink ( standard in this location apparently) shower leaked , no hairdryer as per listing in the ‘facilities’ TV had power but no channels available . Tea and coffee could be consumed in the plastic / poke styrene cups provided however the plastic spoons were totally unsuitable as they melt when stirring hot liquids.
NOYO never again had the feel of a hostel rather than a hotel and they have the nerve to require personal ID proof on arrival !!? Booking .com SORT IT OUT .
- Victoria (3/5): Glad we didn’t book breakfast! - The room was clean and comfortable The stairs entrance were bery old and run down.
- Noor (2/5): Very poor -
