- Verified traveler (8/5):
- thechronictraveller (4/5): Not impressive, especially given the price. - In short, this was the worst value room on my 2-week trip through Japan. It was one of the most expensive outright, and the worst for quality. Bad combination.
The good news is that you can walk to the main train staiton in about 10 minutes. The room's air conditioning worked a treat, too. Other than that, I don't have a lot postive to say. The room was dingy, to put it bluntly. The white on the walls and the sheets was off, but not off-white. There were two single beds pressed againt each side wall, the heads were almost on the window ledge, and there was barely room to walk between the foot of each bed and the desk, or between the beds. And for some reason, the beds were of two different heights. (I found this out after banging my shins against each.) Although I was a few floors up and it seemed like a small residential street, there was a lot of road noise during the night.
As for service, the person checking me in got very upset my reservation was for 2 and I showed up alone. Why? I was paying for the same room? It makes no sense.
They were clearly not impressed with me, nor I with them. Fair trade. I don't plan on returning.
- Alexandru (8/5): - Nice and affordable
- Nobuko (8/5): -
- TAKENORI (10/5): - Wife
- Robert (10/5): Exceptional - My stay was fantastic. There was nothing that I did not like.
- Ryuji (6/5): -
- Crystal (3/5): Poor -
- Cyber0515 (6/5): Not a good base for sightseeing in Nagasaki -
It is a hotel that can only be appreciated for two things: it is close enough to Nagasaki Station to be reached on foot, and it is an inexpensive place to stay. All of the facilities are old, and although at first glance they appear to be kept clean, there are signs that cleaning has been cut corners in some places. Needless to say, the bathrooms are small, which is common among business hotels.
The entrance is a staircase, which I feel it is difficult to use for people with physical disabilities such as wheelchairs or people with large luggage (although there may be an elevator from the underground parking lot).
You would think that this would be the quality of service at a cheap hotel outside of Japan, but the quality is not as good as it is in Japan. It is not suitable as a base for sightseeing in Nagasaki, and would be better used as a place to check in late at night and leave early in the morning.
- Verified traveler (8/5): -
- Verified traveler (4/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5):
- Verified traveler (6/5): -
- Verified traveler (8/5): Quiet, central hotel - Centrally located, quiet hotel with all the basic amenities expected. The room was quite small, and with the bed placed under the window, it was a bit cold at night on that side of the bed.
IT was really dirty everywhere! People who work there was also rude!! Dont wanna go there never again!!
- Pegasus531 (8/5): Semi-hidden gem - Booked for us by Nippon travel agency in Kyoto when we were having trouble with our onward planning, we had never heard of this place. We didn't see another westerner, which we like. Front desk staff do speak English, it's on the map given out by the Tourist information desk at the Train station, and searchable in Google maps for directions. A few minutes' walk from train, 2 blocks from streetcar. Good restaurants within a 2-block radius. Nice if smallish rooms with good beds. Restaurant on premises, (breakfast 900 yen), coin laundry in garage. Wheeled access (not posted in English) is via elevator in garage to left of granite main entry stairs.
- gerards438 (8/5): Good value - Stayed for 2 nights and booked at the last minute was the cheapest a available near the station in Nagasaki.
Not too difficult to find from the station. It is on the free map from tourist info centre alternatively walk out of station take the stairs near the family mart and town the second set of stairs. Cross one small street then turn right after post office block. You will notice "IK" on the sign.
They seem very strict on 1600 check in however will keep your bags. The staff are very friendly and speak enough English to sort things out. The room was a twin on 4th floor and I would agree is a bit dated and at times you could smell cigarettes through the aircon. Beyond that rooms were clean and quiet and large for the price range given previous hotels. It is an easy walk to station and spectacle bridge, the temple circuit and arcade. The atomic bomb museum is easily accessed by the tram, 500yen unlimited day pass or 120 per trip, or would be a solid 45 mins walk with not a lot of attractions along the way. At the amu plaza, less than 5 mins walk, you could find anything to suit your tastes and there are a few restaurants closer.
Overall, good service and clean hotel for a good price, easy distance from station.
- Lyefei (2/5): Hotel I will never use again - Arriving from Unzen after a relatively short drive, we arrived at the hotel after visit to museum of Negasaki history, and lunch at Amu, at around 230 pm trying for early check in. We were told a rude NO and we can only check in after 4 pm. Our car left in the hotel parking area was to move to their designated lot even after I parked the car. We finally checked in after 730 pm and settled in a very small room. We left the hotel feeling really bad.
- fairysky (6/5): Cheap Accommodation near Nagasaki Station - I wanted a cheap hotel near Nagasaki station just for 1 night, well basically just to sleep overnight, and I got a great bargain at Nagasaki IK Hotel. It's not really easy to find, given the fact it's not located along the main road. But if you do your homework well, you can find it along the turn after the post office.
The receptionist I met was an old lady who spoke no English, but was otherwise nice and gave me ropeway discount voucher to Mt Inasa. Travel information are readily available, and there's also a PC for use in the lobby.
The room I booked was a tiny room just slightly larger than capsule, with a tiny bathtub, TV, fridge, aircon, and a single bed, it's an eye-opener how they managed to squeeze so many things inside. There's hardly any walking space after putting down my luggage and umbrella (it was raining). They do have rooms in more decent sizes, which reasonably cost more of course. But for just one night, I don't mind the size of the room I got for the price I paid, which was available only from their website (in Japanese).
There aren't much dining spot in the lane, you may have to proceed to the main road or Nagasaki station, about 5 mins walk if you don't carry heavy stuff, and take note the hotel is located on a gentle slope. This hotel is also quite near Nagasaki Highway Bus station.
By the way, IK means Inn Kid, but it doesn't have much kids facilities. LOL!
- Chatphong (6/5): Not easy to find - No speak english front desk( old age),But a lot of trying to explian. Room were good.Location a little bid hard to find but near Nagaski JR station. No look good resturant near by.The nearest interesting place is megane bridge by walking about fifteen minutes. But very Nagasaki tram stop only 3 minutes walk
- Blaasenborg (6/5): Ok, but needs a clean up - Good location not far from the railwaystation. We got a spacious room, but the bathroom as most other places in Japan is small. Reception staff was very helpful but had nearly no knowledge of English, but with a little patience it worked out well. But the whole hotell needs a good cleaning. Stained carpets and walls, worn desktops and furniture with marks you don't want to know how got there makes you wish you had found something else. The decor is dull early 90ies, but that can be overlooked if it was better maintained.
