Breakfast was great too I appreciate having the drinks service with the view of the garden. Our second time to stay here in order to visit Kamo Aquarium. The single ply toilet paper! I wish there were some food options nearby. The village is very quiet.

• Satoko (9/5): ゆっくりくつろげる、また変わっていく時代の中で頑張っている、これからも応援してあげたいホテルです。 - 部屋に通された時、すでに部屋に温泉が用意されていて、窓からの日本海の眺めも素晴らしく、すぐにくつろぐことができた。 食事も大変美味しかったし、朝ごはんの時、年配の女性が方言で話しかけてくださったのに温かみを感じた。 昭和の宴会文化を思い出させる大きな建物だったが、掃除は行き届いていて、きれいだった。 花が全部造花だった。広い館内全部は無理でも、せめて部屋の一輪挿しには季節の花が欲しかった。 また、到着した時玄関前で名前をわかってもらえず、何度も言わなければならなかった。特に宿泊客は少なかったので、当日来る人の名前をちょっと見ておくくらいはしてほしいと思った。

At check out time, I was charged extra because the cashier explained that the rate that was included in the Booking.com booking was only for 1 person per room per night stay. As we were a total of 4 pax ( 2 x 2 couples) , there was extra charges for the additional 2 pax. This was never indicated when I made the booking. To save further argument and embarrassment, I decided to pay up and leave. In the end, the costs were more than 60% more than the original price when I made the booking.

• Sarah (10/5): Fantastic Onsen Hotel Stay - The rooms were spacious and clean. Very comfortable! The bathtub is what sold me on the room! Nice big tub with views over the ocean and hot spring water pumped directly into your bathtub! The included breakfasts were also very good, very large servings, I didn't need lunch the days I had the breakfasts. The on-site onsens were heavenly, the "help yourself" coffee station was great, and the shop had all the things I like from the hotel available to buy ( got caramel apple tea and the lovely skin sets to take home). Highly reccommend this hotel! Would have liked a dining option that was open later in the hotel and was easy to book into. However there were a few restaurants nearby and a family mart a 10 min walk away, so not a big deal.
• Kathrin (10/5): Traditionsreiches Haus mit hervorragendem Service und schönem Onsen. - Ein sehr schönes traditionsreiches Haus. Und hat der Aufenthalt sehr gefallen. Besonders das Kaiseki Dinner am Abend. Beeindruckend war auch der Blick aus dem Zimmer. Das Personal ist unglaublich freundlich und wir hatten eine gute Zeit im Hotel. Auch der SPA Bereich ist sehr schön, vor allem das Aussenbecken. Das Wasser hatte eine angenehme Temperatur und war schön weich und schmeichelt der Haut. Schade finde ich, dass man mit einer Sauna wirbt aber nirgends geschrieben steht, dass man dafür extra bezahlen muss. Das sollte man deutlicher schreiben und nicht mit den Bildern werben. Es ist nicht teuer aber ich finde das sollte inkludiert sein.

• danielle (10/5): Exceptional!! ONSEN, STAFF and BEAUTIFUL PROPERTY! - The photos do not do this property justice it was just so lovely. I wish I could've stayed longer and would recommend to anyone who wants to visit this area of Japan - Kamo Aquarium is a MUST. The staff went above and beyond, so sweet and kind. The ONSEN + SAUNA are incredible and are also a must. Beach front stroll at sunset was great and then retire back to hotel for Onsen is just the perfect experience. Breakfast was delicious and I love how traditional everything in the hotel was. They also have a great little shop with beautiful things. Nothing it was a great experience! But beware that the area is very quiet and everything closes early, there are only a couple of restaurants in walking distance so make sure to make a reservation either at the hotel for dinner or nearby restaurant.

• Fabio (10/5): Tradition meets Modern - Amazing Hotel, even though it is a very traditional and old place, the rooms are very modern and renovated with all the amenities one can think of. Onsen is good too, but very hot. The beach is literally just across the road! The rooms all have an ocean view. Staff is extremely friendly and breakfast is also great. Just watch out to book dinner if possible, as there are not many options to eat around town if you don’t want to take the car.

• Joanna (9/5): I enjoyed my stay. I had an excellent view of the Japan Sea and delicious little restaurant around the corner to eat at - I had an excellent view of the Japan Sea. My room was big and spacious and felt unique with traditional tatami and wooden floors. The private onsen with sauna and dry room was wonderful! I regret not using it both nights. The staff was helpful and friendly. I enjoyed their self serve coffee/beverage station with tables overlooking their beautiful Japanese garden on the terrace. They also offer cute little treats to eat with your drink which I thought was so lovely. For the most part everything felt clean except the bathtub. It needed a good scrub or perhaps it’s stained. The grounds are beautiful but the hotel does need some upkeep. The neighboring area is a bit run down and there aren’t many cafes/ restaurants but there was one really delicious brand new restaurant 700ft away which was perfect . The location is a bit far from everything but you are right next to a bus stop.
• Eric (10/5): Exceptional - We loved our stay here and can't wait to get back EVERYTHING was perfect Really romantic hotel, with nice views My wife enjoyed the thermal pool We were there for cherry blossom season and were driving from Aomori to Nagano, so it was a nice 1/2way point. The restaurant was closed till high season and there is no other place open at all. Just really quiet there However there was a Lawson store about 2klms away We were able to purchase a couple of dishes there, which they were able to heat in a micro as well as buy some nice red wine So all was good However, there is no table in the room to dine I think it would be good for them to place a rable and chairs in the room for the off season The room is certainly big enough

Really enjoyed the breakfast - worth the price. Nicely designed hotel and recommended to those looking for a place to stay in Tsuruoka. English translation of the site was a bit confusing to understand but the staff at the site was friendly to explain the differences. Considering all closes around the hotel after 9pm, it would be nice to have the coffee/drink stand open after 9pm as well. View from the room was a bit different from what was advertised on the homepage.
