Guest Reviews
- Gail (2/5): Scary. Like being on a horror movie film set. Too expensive. Should be low budget. A disgrace to Gibraltar. - The pool It it’s absolutely hideous. It’s the stuff nightmares are made off. Dark, creepy, dated. If you put the Shining and Psycho together you’d have the vibe of the bedrooms and corridors. It’s shockingly bad. The tv and lamp in bedroom is screwed to the table tops. There is no tea or coffee facilities in bedrooms which I find mean! The fridge was warm inside and the hair dryer looked at least 30 years old. Very poor. Very bad value for money. £100 per one night. A disgrace. It lets Gibraltar down! Owned by a Gibraltar family too. Needs a good overhaul. They are laughing all the way to the bank and clearly don’t care about reputation.
- Colin (3/5): Would not use again - Location Old needs refurbishing
On tea making facilities
Bathroom extremely poor
- Olusegun (9/5): -
- gordon (3/5): - Not alot to like Everything, out dated, dirty, smelly. Tiny room and half the stuff didn't work including broken furniture.
- Tristan (10/5): -
- Tristan (8/5): -
- Helliwell (6/5): Perfect location….would have liked just a shower bath isn’t necessary! - Great location Very dated….with a recent leg fracture..was a nightmare to get in and out of bath …
- Gregson (9/5): Gibralter and position of Hotel good. - Pool area, location. Staff nice. Smelled musty. Decor very outdated. My room smelled musty. I couldn’t get the shower to work, was slippy and no handles. I was cold and the blankets on the bed didn’t feel clean. Duvets and clean covers would have been better.
- linda (8/5): Convenient and value for money - Staff lovely. Helpful and friendly Just a bit dated
- Frank (3/5): -
- martin (10/5): - Hotel is centrally located and clean. Pool area and bar very good. Interior is a little dated.
- Wojciech (7/5): -
- Kathryn (7/5): Old-fashioned facility with good, old-fashioned service. - Front desk and manager were very helpful with paperwork we needed for the Gibraltar authorities, also holding our luggage until our room was ready (early). The hotel very much reminds me of Britain in the '70s, which I toured as a child. Dark paneling, dark furnishings, long twisting corridors, so it was nostalgic for me.
My request for an interior room far away from the central part of the hotel and other guests was perfectly respected and I was pleased to end up at the very end of a long corridor behind an extra door. Very quiet. Gibraltar is expensive, there's no getting around it, but this is one of the lower cost options. Coming here, one would do best to not expect something modern
- Christian (10/5): - The price and location were ideal for my purposes (a brief one-night stay).
- Daphne (7/5): - Location pleasant staff nice and clean No kettle would have been nice
- Alla (8/5): Great budget stay - Location was pretty good, stuff friendly. There was a pool which would be good to use if the weather was warmer. Right next to the hotel in a square there are taxi tours for the Natural Reserve Park. Many restaurants and stores are in a street just a minute from the hotel. The building and furniture are pretty old, very hard mattresses.
- brent (7/5): Locat good nice staff - Location No tea making facilities breakfast ok but not brilliant
- jon (5/5): Basic but ok for one night - Good location and staff we helpful and friendly It’s a bit basic and dated
- Aaron (7/5): -
- tim (6/5): -
- Francis (9/5): Great bargain. - Well situated, very helpful staff, room was good, clean, nothing special, I’d stay there again. I drove there. A little confusing finding it. Parking limited.
- Anthony (4/5): Very old fashioned but good location - Location was good and staff helpful and friendly. The rooms are incredibly dated, the bathrooms also. The bed was terrible and creaked all night with even the slightest movement, also the pillows were awful. I don't think they have done any upgrades to this hotel since it was built in the 80's!
- Bojan (3/5): - EL RESEPTIONISTA HOTEL ES PARA REFORMAR
- Neil (9/5): - Nice location.
- Karen (9/5): Really loved it and will be back - Excellent location, staff are friendly and facilities including the pool are lovely. The hotel is very clean and comfortable. It appears dated but this just gives character Nothing specific
- Winnie (8/5): - The breakfast spread was limited. No fruits or desserts and lacked variety like sausage or bacon it was the same everyday.
- Kevin (8/5): - Location,cleanliness Need an update.
- Tim (8/5): - Staff and locality The bed, pillows or bathrooms
- k john (7/5): -
- Jesse (7/5): Convenient location and ok as just a place for a short stay. - Return customer (sixth time). Convenient location. Free on site parking Still stuck in the 1970's (Think fawlty towers). I mean no disrespect as the place has character. But the rooms really do need modernising and brightening up. I'd expect some changes in the last six years.
- lavagna (9/5): Great value for money. - Very central in the heart of town. Clean staff very friendly .ok for a few days . Stayed lots of times .however hotel looks tired needs a make over. Great prices. Will stay again . Needs updating and it would be even better.
- Hahedo (8/5): -
- Klaus Burkert (9/5): - Alles war gut, kein Kritikpunkt!
- Gabriela (10/5): - Service Nothing
- Harrison (7/5): - Friendly helpful staff Very dated
- Petra (6/5): Only okay for one or two nights - The location was fabulous. There was a bad smell in the room. There was no kettle in the room. The keyring with the room key attached was extremely huge (much bigger than the size of a mobile phone) and therefore guests had to leave the room key at the reception when going out.
- Gary (9/5): -
- Stefan (8/5): A cozy place and very central - A nice old fashioned and very British hotel located in the heart of Gibraltar. Rooms were large, quiet and somehow cosy. The service was kind but there were no city maps and no adapters for electronic EU devices available. Also no water cookers in the rooms.
- Jan Helge (8/5): -
- Jorge (7/5): -
- Simon (5/5): It was a great location! - Location, parking and staff. The whole hotel is out of date. 1960s or even 1950s decor. No extra services like bottled water and the ability to make coffee or tea in the room. Breakfast was the cheapest possible. We moved from cheaper hotel in Malaga to a more expensive one in Gibraltar. It did not come close to even being comparable. Over priced with minimal effort put forth. I blame the owner they only want money. Shame. This hotel should never be ranked as good. Fair at the most. Booking.com needs ti be clearer on standards.
- Stuart (9/5): - Easy going to the hotel to tow central NA
- Mark (10/5): Staff are fantastic , so friendly and helpful, would 100% stay again - Fantastic location, pool and pool bar an added bonus Little bit dated in decor but added to the charm of the hotel
- Keith (6/5): Good value, centrally located and made nicer by friendly helpful staff - Breakfast ok but no surprises and it would have been nice to something hot, as part of the price for the room l guess it was fine Teeny piece of soap in the bathroom and allowing for the price it would have been nice to find just one bottle of water in the fridge good balur
- ESPERANZA (7/5): -
- carole (6/5): It was fine for a short stay as the room was spacious but I didn't expect a shower in the bath - no, - Having asked and paid for a vegan breakfast l foind l could only have dry toast and black tea as there was neither dairy-free spread or oatmilk. There wasn't even any fruit. When l told reception o had two lamps not working in my room they took the bulbs out but didn't replace them.
The place is a Warren of dark corridors with stairs everywhere. To access the bar/breakfast room one has to leave the building and go round the corner.
- Jerome (5/5): A British hotel from the 70s that is clean but needs to know we are in the 2020s - A great location right next to Main Street. Also has easy parking right out side the hotel.
It has a certain charm of the 1970s and the room was clean. The hotel is like taking a step back in time to the 70s / 80s. With dark corridors and rooms. The shower was of the same era ( But clean)
Also for a British hotel no tea or coffee?
An interesting experience
- John (8/5): Comfortable hotel with pleasant atmosphere in great location - Superb location, just off Main Street in centre of town.
Comfortable, old fashioned hotel with beautiful reception rooms and pleasant atmosphere Limited choice at breakfast
- Conway (7/5): - Staff friendly …location amazing Old fashioned ..pool not heated
- Jeanette (10/5): Genuin England hotel - We are guides on motorcycle and coming often with customers to Bristol. Always perfect service and we are so happy and also our customers
- Ainhoa (10/5): -
- Lesley Glen (5/5): - The location was perfect.
The pool area was lovely and very welcome on a hot day. The hotel looked lovely from the outside but the rooms were very dated. I really disliked the polystyrene tiles on the ceiling. I thought this was a fire risk?
- Elke (7/5): - Super Lage, freundliches Personal.
- Aletta (2/5): Staff were great, facilities were very poor. - The Staff was absolutely lovely and very helpful! The carpets were threadbare and poorly cleaned. The room facilities were outdated, and the bed linen was from another era. The hallways had a strong musty odour, suggesting poor ventilation and long-standing dampness.
- Esther (10/5): -
- Patrick (7/5): Very nice for a short stay - The Staff were very helpful. Keg beer rather than bottled.
- Jacqui (10/5): Great staff and pool bar area very close to Main Street and bars restaurants and shops - Close to the main old part of town all shops and facilities It’s a bit dated and no tea/coffee facilities in room
- Ashley (8/5): -
- Yevheniia (10/5): - the hall near the reception
- Michael (7/5): - No tea facility in the room
- George (8/5): Good value, good location, reasonable breakfast options, but everything is dated. - Location Bed was hard as the rock itself !
- Sharon (7/5): Well located and good priced hotel - Well located next to the town centre Quite dated and the walls were thin allowing you to hear between rooms.
- Derek (8/5): Good central place to stay basic accommodation but I enjoyed it staff were very friendly - The interior is dated but I liked it throw back to 70s/80s just off Main Street where all the shops and restaurants are great position Nothing
- Boris (10/5): -
- Sara (9/5): -
- Patrick (8/5): - central location Needs a full renovation
Rooms best described as 60s quaint
- Adam (10/5): - Extremely helpful staff. Thank you, guys. N/A
- Chrisrich1973 (8/5): - The staff were friendly , the location is good the corridors and the room had a 70s feel to it They was no tea and coffee facilities in the room also the the hot water was a mucky brown colour.
- Nicholas (2/5): - Location was good. Cleanliness was terrible. A/C unit in the room looked like the filter had never been cleaned. Overall cleanliness was really bad. Very old hotel in need of renovation. Not worth the price.
- John (6/5): -
- Colin (10/5): -
- Gerard (4/5): Somewhere to sleep and shower. - Room...although quiet...stuck in a 1970s time warp. Decor...lack of facilities...not a great choice for breakfast.
- Paul (2/5): - Price seemed attractive but condition of rooms not worth the stress. Condition of the hotel, it was grim. Requires shutting down and refurbishing. Rooms looked like from 1970s.
- Graham (6/5): A lovely accommodation for the cost, ideal location. Be nice if had coffee facilities in the room - The pool is not in the hotel, but over the road / lane. No big issue but write up makes it sound like it’s in the grounds.
- Róbert (10/5): Most helpful staff in Gibraltar - Super cute and very helpful staff, good location, relatively cheap price (considering Gibraltar) for a good hotel room, good fridge and AC Bit rundown, but nothing especially surprising or wrong
- JOY (7/5): -
- Pamela (6/5): Essere in Inghilterra senza essere in Inghilterra - Gentilezza e disponibilità dello Staff
Posizione
- LORRAINE (9/5): -
- Elizabeth (4/5): Pleasantly adequate - Location and it had a small pool To many stairs
- Mary (10/5): - Close to everything Staff were great pool was great needs a big revamp though.
- Hayley (9/5): Great place and centrally located. - Great location, quiet place and next to the museum. The pictures show exactly how it is, great pool. Bedrooms and carpets are dated but the communal areas provide space to work on a laptop and the pool area was nice and not overcrowded during October. I’m pleased and could not ask for more. The fact that people can smoke in their rooms, one evening I could smell it in my room so I put a towel across the doorway. But the culture in Gibraltar is different and the place was quiet.
- Mohamed (10/5): -
- John Budd (10/5): I was very pleased with this hotel and its location. - Excellent accommodations and breakfast at a reasonable value.
- Krall (7/5): -
- Kent Mikael (8/5): -
