Guest Reviews
- adhpratomo (6/5): Strategic location, spacious & neat room, but little bit dusty - Been here for 2 nights. I do admire the exterior & interior design. They have a small fish pond "inside" if you get ground level room. The service also greatly nice where they did read my request of adjoining & non-smoking room. Especially the food was nice for a café price (below most "hotel" price). But my wife complained about the dusty floor once we entering the room. She also bring some head louse as we leave. I hope the management could improve on that.
- meirinap2017 (8/5): Backpaker trip - I booked single room with shared bathroom for this trip. Room was quite comfortable, clean, problem only the air conditioning which always shut down because of the timer was broken. I called for repairment for 3 times but they can't fix it.
Bathroom is ok, and also the breakfast. The location also good in central dago. Good option for budget hotel.
- 3DN4 (6/5): Ok - Location, ok. C/i & c/o services, ok. Staff, ok. Breakfast, ok (better to have it earlier). Stayed 2N in room 315. An old ones. It needs some renovations for the cracked tiles (quite annoying), torn wallpaper, dripped AC. Surprisingly, they gave free car wash. By morning, you'll find your car cleaned. Suggestion to provide a handle faucet at the shower, to facilitate a Muslim guest to have wudhu.
- ellasabri (10/5): Awesome Place - The hotel is near all the factory outlet in Jalan Dago and also walking distance to Kartika Sari. The breakfast doesn't really have a good variations. The staff also friendly and they help us during our check out. The only thing I'm complaining is the AC. My sister set it to the lowest temperature, but it's still hot. To conclude my experience there, I think it was okay.
- GFSusanto (8/5): Exceeding expectation - Good location and unbeatable Sundanese hospitality. Fast check in and spacious room. Stayed during weekdays and it was not crowded, very nice and quiet. Recommended boutique hotel with good quality of internet services. Overall they exceeded my expectations.
- ephie69 (6/5): Dark and a bit scary - from outside really nice building, and inside the art deco style was nice, only the room really dark with dark furniture, i was so scared to sleep alone, i asked my neece to sleep with me, also the bathroom really dark, just not my kind of hotel.
- samuelkristanto (6/5): Overall it was OK - I stayed here for 2 nights (27/01/2018 - 29/01/2018). My first impression on this hotel is it's an old hotel. But the location was very strategic, It was located in Dago (one of the main street in Bandung). I chose to book room only (without breakfast), from the looks of it, i don't really think they could provide a good variations of breakfast. Moving on, i chose the standard room with the King size bed.
The room was spacious and clean, everything worked well.
My complaints about the room was the lighting and the AC. I think the lighting was not so good. There are several part of the room where it was dark, it makes me harder to work (i'm using my laptop though). And my second complaint was the AC. i set it to the lowest temperature, but it's still hot. i complained to the maintenance, and all they say was it's the coldest the AC could get and every other room was the same.
So, to conclude my experience there, i think it was okay. But i would prefer not to come back there (personally it's hard for me to sleep on a hot room)
- Verified traveler (6/5): Hotel needs serious upgrade - I am not sure if the hotel is a budget one. Very Small tv. Room lights are very very dim, i dont understand why cant it be brighter? Comforter doesnt change at all only bedsheets changed and that we have to inform to get it done. Breakfast spread very very limited. However, service was tiptop very nice hotel crews.
- hasyikin (10/5): Absolutely love it - We stay there for 1 night. Backpacking style. The bedroom is superb. Large bed can squeeze in up to 3 people. Very spacious bathroom. All utilities given Great deco. Very clean. Helpful staff. Accept credit card. Also have car park. U can choose whether to have breakfast included or not.
- nyunk87 (10/5): Satisfied - cozy atmosphere of the hotel and the hotel location is easy to accomplish, worker and friendly service, the hotel rooms were quite satisfactory ,, indeed one of the hotel I would recommend if you are in the city of Bandung...
- Susan (6/5): Poor sanitary and insecured hotel - this is a very small hotel. The staff is friendly. Room condition is quite old. The bedsheets were very dirty and the kettle as well. The toiletries are just the same one for bath and shampoo. The room wall is very thin. I was kept awake in the middle of the night by the next room talking. I tried to call the front desk but no one picked up. I had to knock on the other guest room to ask him to keep their voices down when I could not find anyone at the front desk. I was told that they normally don't staff in the night due to manpower shortage. Will never stay there again
- Hairi (10/5): Great hotel - Strategic location especially during Sunday because you can enjoy the 'car free day' in front of Dago Palais. Very clean and comfortable..!!
- Gerald (6/5): Boutique hotel - Staff friendly, Room OK but room can be kept cleaner. Accessible to eating places. Easy to move around.
Breakfast variety is lacking
- abdulrahimbinj (8/5): Feels Like Home - Nice antique feature hotel. The rustic ambience, smell of old teakwood furniture, big rooms, quiet and peaceful environment, great hospitality, friendly staff makes our stay wonderful.
Staff always attentive and particularly MR. TETA HENDAYANA who gave us a good deal when we decided to extend our stay for 4 more nights. He is always ready to assist anytime we in need of something.
We stayed during the fasting month and the early breakfast (sahur) was served to our room. But we decided to dine at the common lobby area that has a dining table just outside our room and that area somewhat became our personal. The staff makes us feel totally like home.
Many shopping outlets, cafes, restaurants and roadside hawkers just within walking distance.
They also provide free shuttle to the airport.
- Raka_Putra (8/5): A Splendor in the Heart of Bandung - The Palais Dago is a sight familiar to the people of Bandung who commute the busy and fashionable Dago street. The intricate, sizable dome is mesmerizing and iconic, easily standing out between the modern boutiques and shops. The opulent architecture has succeeded in grabbing the attention of locals and tourists alike.
I, too, had been captivated by its magic during the four years I lived in Bandung.
The chance to finally go inside the palace, however, came after I left Bandung. My family and I was about to stay a night for a nearby event. As the familiar old adage goes, 'do not judge a book by its cover', any establishment can easily disappoint - by presenting a much too beauteous front that it can't live up to.
It was thankfully not the case with The Palais Dago.
The grand facade was not merely a cheap one-off trick. Far from it. The Palais is intricately (though not perfectly) designed, perfectly consistent in its dedication to make you feel like a royalty -- or at least a royal guest.
When you first enter the lobby, a luxurious and classy lounge welcomed you, with a tasteful arrangement of big armchairs, antique fireplace, and other such furniture signifying class and refined taste. It was quite an experience to find the backdrop to a modern Victorian mansion hidden in the heart of Bandung.
It cleverly set the atmosphere for the rest of your stay. The receptionist's service is impeccable, worthy of a butler (or at least one in training). And when you get to your room, it was lavishly, yet tastefully, decorated. It would be so easy to go overboard and end up with a tacky set up, but The Palais found that middle ground where the room is cozy yet special; luxurious yet homey. It was not only a place to sleep, but a thematic experience.
The breakfast further enhanced the stay. It was not quite generous in variation, but the menu selection was impeccable. Those more inclined to traditional Indonesian hotel breakfast (e.g. nasi goreng) would perhaps find it disappointing, but to me, the pasta, sausage, and omelette (with its own booth) were a good, if economical, complement to the overall experience.
As my four-star review might convey, The Palais, and therefore the experience, was not without its share of flaws. The small lot it stood on was very constrictive; the interior other than the lounge was too reminiscent of some other 'normal' hotels, with open plan but narrow and under-decorated corridors. And the dining room was most confounding with its narrow twists and turns that led to a room that could only accommodate about a dozen people at a time. The view to the Dago street, however, was nice. The layout was no doubt used in order to make the most of the plot. Understandable yet slightly disappointing.
And the upkeep had been acceptable. At first glance, everything's well-kept and clean. It really was clean, but when one looked closer, unmistakable signs of wear and tear were everywhere.
In the end, I recommend people with the chance and the necessary (not exactly meager) fund to try The Palais Dago at least once. Especially for ones that find enjoyment in the experience of a thematic hotel, for it managed to impress despite its structural shortcomings.
If you only wanted to spend a night to sleep and go elsewhere, however, save The Palais for another time. It's better to be savored as you lounge in your room, taking in the comfort like nobles of days past.
- N9716OHjanet (4/5): Overpriced for its quality - The architecture looks good from the outside but once you walk into the room, this looks like a cheap hotel. Very bad breakfast with limited choice of food and the taste is terrible. Looks like people can smoke anywhere here. Location is good but NOT a family hotel for sure.
- NuwanM_13 (10/5): Great Hospitality... - I stayed over a week in this hotel and the hotel staff was amazing, the hospitality was exceptional, the rooms were clean the service was quick.
I had a drainage block in my bathroom one night and I called the reception and they did not spend even two minutes to repair the issue, exceptional service.
Can recommend this hotel without any hesitation
- YudhaNugroho (8/5): Clean,Comfort and Unique interior decoration - I've stayed here for business trip in 2 nights, All of interior this hotel are unique like castle with architect rome styles. This hotel have some of type room , I choose family room with spacious and clean bathroom. Unforturnately for breakfast they dont have a lot of menu but souvenir shop "Kartika sari" near from this hotel, just cross the highway. Overall I feel comfort stay at palais dago hotel
- nesap2014 (10/5): Good place, good neighbourhood - Choosen this hotel as one of the closest to my campus (needed a place to get rest upon ended semester). It has good interior, room and service. It help me through the room cancelation problem from booking.com and offer no charge upon the change.
- ruzianar (10/5): Feeling like in Rome - Nice hotel...with a good taste of interior deco . it's felt like i'm in 1 of the castle in Rome . Definitely will stay again here if i have a trip to Bandung.
Hotel in good location -near to most popular shopping place.
- Foodie4ev (10/5): Good hotel. great location. - We've stayed here for 2 nights and it was a lovely stay. The staff is very kind and helpfull, the rooms are spacious&clean, shower is good & the bed is great. I would recommend this to anyone who loves to stay in Dago!
- AdiPrakoso (8/5): Good Tacky Hotel - I don't know who design the facade of this hotel but this tacky white house dome is a head turner for sure. Lobby design displayed the same tackiness (who needs fireplace in Indonesia?). Please be aware that this hotel does not have elevator and second & third floor was dedicated to smoking room. Rate was considered affordable for a hotel that was located in main strip but room capacity was various. Room 208 was more spacious than any other room. Breakfast was okay, coffee was good, free wifi was not really reliable. In short I recommend this hotel.
- Munirahomar (10/5): Tranquility - Amazing room with reasonable price. Its really peaceful here. Suitable for honeymoon. More privacy. For youngster, it is not suitable since there is no entertainment. The food was awesome. Sunda dishes was nice. Friendly staffs.......
