• Christian (8/5): Belle découverte dans un très joli cadre. - Bel ensemble hotelier. Chambre spacieuse avec une belle salle de bain. Hotel de traditions avec certains aspects qui n’existent plus ailleurs mais qui donne un charme désuet à l’ensemble. Beau restaurant à 2 min faisant partie de l’ensemble (Ruedihus). Certains membres du personnel de l’accueil peu attentifs aux passages des hôtes. Placement des hôtes au petit-déjeuner pas toujours opportun.

Common areas with fireplace, piano, feels like home ! Décoration a bit outdated in the breakfast room and some of the common area, would need refreshing.

• Christian (7/5): War okay, denke jedoch nicht, dass wir nochmals das Hotel besuchen werden. - Frühstücks Buffet war sehr reichhaltig und gut präsentiert. Abendessen und Silvesteressen waren sehr gut. Wir haben 4 x gegessen und wurden jedes Mal an einem anderen Tisch platziert. Platz für das Silvesteressen hatten wir am Morgen angefragt, wurden jedoch sehr schlecht, nahe der Musik platziert, es war laut und es hatte leiten Durchzug, eher unangenehm, Hätte viel besser sein können an einem anderen Platz.

• H5973XDsofias (10/5): Attentive staff and nice infrastructure - Our visit was great. Very friendly staff (no Swiss German but still flawless communication in German). The suite Sonnbühl was wonderful, even though it’s very open-plan (no bathroom door). The spa area was very enjoyable as well. We visited 4 different saunas and a steam sauna, all of them clean and nice. The pool is cool, it has an inside and outside area. There are lots of spots to chill with nice views of the mountains. The cold bath was too cold for us, but there are other good options to cool down (showers, a cold mist shower, a bucket with cold water, you can step outside as well) The food was amazing, and they were very flexible with the orders. All in all an exquisite experience!

• Schultz (8/5): Un petit endroit magique... - Le SPA est top mais ils devraient mettre plus de serviettes à disposition dans le SPA même; peu fréquenté ce qui est agréable. La chambre Economy petite mais très bien agencée, calme, tout en bois, très mignonne. Les oreillers trop mous... La litterie en revanche très bonne. Le buffet de petit déjeuner pourrait être plus raffiné, mieux mis en valeur. Il est très complet, mais c'est vrai qu'il manque un peu de charme.

• Tracey (10/5): - We stayed at the Waldhotel for two nights where we enjoyed hiking and the amazing scenic views of the Alps. Hotel had breathtaking views of the Alps. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was large and updated. We did have a challenge figuring out all of the electronics to get the lights on and shades closed.

Frühstück: Einfach Hammer. Viel frischen Käse und Fleisch zum selber schneiden. Alle warmen Speisen werden frisch zubereitet und serviert. Neben Lachs auch Shrimps und Cottage Cheese. • Danielle (9/5): - Tout était parfait, ce n'est pas la première fois que je séjourne au Waldenhorn. Le bon pour boisson si on ne veut pas que la chambre soit faite est très intéressant et bien pensé ! Je trouve que la chambre côté nord est sombre et mériterait d'être moins chère.

• Lauren (8/5): - The spa is amazing! We could have stayed there all day. The entire property is really beautiful and the rooms were very spacious. The breakfast was absolutely incredible and had so many different offerings. We had to ask repeatedly for towels (we didn’t have any in our bathroom when we arrived). The property is a bit far out from the rest of town so it was challenging to find a place to have dinner nearby since we didn’t want to eat at the hotel. We had trouble getting the bartender to take our drink order at the bar- we waited over half an hour before eventually giving up and going back to our rooms.

• Diane (8/5): Cadre exceptionnel, excentré qui fait tout son charme. - Cadre exceptionnel, au calme, loin du centre du village, qui fait tout son charme. Grande chambre avec petit salon, grande salle de bain. Spa vieillissant, cadre présent mais beaucoup de choses non fonctionnelles. Grande chambre malheureusement vue sur le flanc de la montagne donc un peu sombre. Divers détails dans la chambre pour pinailler : joints manquants, carreaux cassés, jet de douche très fort ou inefficace, absence de mini bar, literie, coussins à revoir. Insonorisation (mais certains parents devraient pouvoir apprendre à leurs enfants de ne pas sauter et crier à 8h du matin comme s’ils étaient chez eux, donc l’hôtel n’y est pour rien) Malgré tout ça, aucun n’a entravé le bon déroulement de notre séjour qui était très agréable. Nous précisons tout ça pour faire valoir et améliorer le 4* de l’hôtel.

The breakfast was very basic and poor quality Vs. the high price for the room. No fresh juices, only basic ones. Only soy and no other non-dairy drinks available. 15 minutes waiting for the boiled eggs. Not even a toaster available in the breakfast room. This is not what we would expect from a Relais & Chateaux. The room is ok, but nothing special really. No bath tub, only a shower.

• caryh80 (4/5): Wouldn’t Recommend - Unfortunately this hotel was a disappointment: - does not compare to other Relais & Chateaux - very unfriendly / unhelpful front desk staff (Maia in particular) - room was dirty/in disrepair (broken glass on balcony, dog hair, tv only worked when lights were switched on) - cigarette smoke always filling our room if windows open - spa is awful, no attendants, no extras like tea, apples, etc, no towels - breakfast buffet was mid (had better in high mountain huts) - dinnner options were confusing and the owner and his son were snooty - this hotel gets a ton of business from Backroads which is great but they maybe rely on that without worrying about other guests much. - Beautiful area, great town, but expected better. If you are looking for something like this but want far better service and overall experience, I recommend: Spa Hotel Jagdhof in Austria (not affiliated but stayed there in 2024)
• Kali (10/5): A mountain treat - I loved this hotel. The room was relatively basic but the view, spa and restaurant made it a real treat to stay in. The staff were also very nice and helpful. It's a bit of a walk if you don't have a car but still doable.

• goodeatsog (2/5): Find anywhere else - Unfortunately this appears to be a nice hotel online. The experience has not come close to my expectations and even worse there has been not one apology or admission of wrong doing. We had a late check-in and I communicated several times with the hotel to arrange beforehand. As it’s in the middle of nowhere I wanted to make sure everything was sorted before arrival. It was confirmed multiple times that keys would be at the front desk. They were at front desk but unfortunately not a single door was unlocked to get into the hotel. They have not apologized, comped the room or anything. We were standing outside in the middle of the night in the pouring rain for a very long time. The way we made it in was not their doing. Most hotels would be mortified to do such a thing! Additionally, coffee machine broken, no down alternative pillows for an allergy, no turn down service. Those are all minor details I would never have complained about but after the super stressful event they put us through without apology or any amends I will throw them in. If you like a decent hotel this isn’t for you.

The location is simply stunning — I absolutely love Kandersteg, and this hotel captures its charm perfectly. The property is elegant and welcoming, with a peaceful atmosphere and attentive service. Everything met my expectations of a high-standard hotel. I look forward to coming back — next time, for a proper vacation! If I had to mention one area for improvement, it would be the breakfast: it didn’t quite match the otherwise excellent level of the hotel. With some attention there, this place would easily be outstanding.

• Nathalie (10/5): Kandersteg au Walhotel Doldenhorn : un rêve - Cet hôtel est tout simplement fabuleux. Il est situé en dehors du centre de Kandersteg, dans un écrin de verdure. Les chambres sont jolies et confortables, le petit-déjeuner est copieux avec beaucoup de produits frais. Nous avons mangé le 1er soir et le repas fut divin. Le SPA est également très beau avec piscine et plusieurs saunas ainsi qu'un haman et un jacuzzi. Quelques jours avec ma fille qui nous ont reposés. Nous reviendront c'est sûr :)

• James (7/5): Honestly was not worth going - Pretty hotel, pretty location No transport to hotel no bus no taxis. We had no phones as our provider did not work in Switzerland. We walked to a shop and asked them to call the hotel and they sent the car. Maybe this could have been pre arranged in a clearer way. Hotel closed reception till 7.00am and we had a train to catch at 7.15 thank god the lady started earlier and was able to take payment and also drive us to the station. We booked supper when we got there for 8.30pm and reception just said ok, when we get to the restaurant they hand us a snack menu because restaurant closed at 8.30 which we should have been informed about. After my complaint they allowed the full menu but the food was under par im afraid. Our dessert was burnt and after 40mins waiting for them to apparently cook a new one they tell ne they cant donit so brought me a bowl of icecream 😂 anyway felt like we were in a faulty towers episode. Also very bad wifi from hotel

• CJ23456 (10/5): Perfect Location and Enjoyable Experience! - Waldhotel Doldenhorn, a Relais & Chateaux, in Kandersteg, sits in a sunny location on the outskirts of town, and was very charming and delightful! I loved the sound of the small creek which runs through the property. It is a solid 4 star with a lovely, traditional property, and stunning views of alpine mountains and Swiss countryside the minute you step out the door! Kandersteg is a walker’s paradise in the Summer and early Autumn. A convenient free town bus stops at the foot of the long drive or a 10-15 minute walk to the village and another 15+ min to the foot of the Oeschinensee gondola. The hotel offers a nice breakfast, and serves complimentary afternoon tea & pastries in the lounge or on the front terrace. I haven’t seen the specific Ambiance Guest Room assigned in any of the hotel’s photos, but it felt like staying in a charming, private Swiss cottage or cabin with a comfortable large bed, desk, small frig, plenty of windows, outlets, and deck & chairs. The indoor swimming area sounded busy (didn't use it). Friendly servers and front desk reception. The staff is caring and delivers hospitable service. Keep the wooden loungers out front (or add a couple more)! Beautiful location. I wouldn’t have chosen anything else, but this hotel! Thank you.

The Spa area is wonderful, there are different saunas with cold plunge, ice baths and showers, a salt room, a wonderful and cosy chill room, good size swimming pool and the confort to order food and drinks in the Spa area. The room was quite big with a comfy bed. Nothing to dislike
