- 103dereckc (10/5): Beautiful Hotel - Highly Recommended - This Hotel was where we spent a week on a ski package holiday. It was just outside the town (bus needed to get in and out of town dues to steep road) Luckily our residents status gave us free travel throughout our stay. It was well situated for the ski gondola, just a couple of minutes away, or for the ski bus, which tok you into town or to other resorts. We weren't skiing but just enjoying a wonderful break in the mountains. This Hotel was superb. Super friendly staff, excellent food choices, excellent facilities, and excellent rooms. Highly recommended in all aspects.
- RachelMusic (10/5): Brilliant week at Hotel Daxer with a school group - We recently brought a school group of 60 to stay. The hotel couldn’t do enough for us. Facilities, food, rooms, staff were all fantastic. Our party had different evening activities organised and the staff were very helpful in assisting with these.
The facilities are superb:
- hot drinks/cakes/soft drinks available throughout the day. Excellent variety of food (including gluten free). Pupils were able to make a packed lunch for their day on the slopes.
- Beautiful swimming pool/spa area with breathtaking views.
- walking distance to the lift/ski hire shop.
- comfy, clean and modern rooms
- amazing views!
- board games available to use (helped those who needed some rest time from skiing!)
- staff very helpful and friendly
Thank you Gartenhotel Daxer we hope to return in the future.
- carolhP3675OT (10/5): The Daxer, Zell am See - exceptional ! - For the third year running, we’ve just returned from another spectacular stay at The Daxer—and honestly, I cannot recommend this hotel enough. Family-run, with the most welcoming atmosphere, it perfectly suits couples, singles, families and groups alike. We’ve booked through Crystal each year and have never been disappointed.
It’s hard to know where to begin, because everything is just so good!
We arrived late in the evening to find a lovely buffet and refreshments thoughtfully laid out for us—a truly warm welcome after a long journey. The next morning, we were up early for lessons and greeted by a beautiful breakfast buffet with a wide selection of cereals, continental options, fresh fruit and hot dishes. The scrambled eggs are absolutely to die for! Add to that a delicious variety of fresh breads and plenty of coffee to set you up for the day.
Evenings are just as enjoyable. You can either help yourself to the buffet or choose from three freshly prepared options—vegetarian, meat or fish—cooked to order and served to your table. We tried a mix of both, and everything was consistently delicious. As someone who is gluten-free, I was especially touched by how accommodating the team were—they really went above and beyond to provide suitable options wherever possible.
In fact, the salad bar alone was so fresh and inviting, I’d have happily eaten from it every night!
The location is ideal too—ski in and out, or just a short 10-minute walk to the lifts once you’re sorted in the heated boot room. Returning from the slopes around 4pm, the homemade cakes, a hot savoury option, and a selection of hot drinks are such a welcome treat. Even better, there was homemade gluten-free cake available too 😋. You can relax at your allocated table or enjoy the cosy little bar.
If you’re looking to unwind further, the hotel spa is simply wonderful. The brand-new pool area offers the most stunning views, with plenty of space to relax, alongside a fantastic selection of saunas. New this year is an adults-only spa area with saunas, steam room and tranquil relaxation spaces—truly five-star facilities with views to match ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
Our room (214, an upgraded option) was just perfect, with a private balcony overlooking the lake and mountains. The beds are incredibly comfortable, the décor is beautiful, and everything is kept immaculate throughout your stay. The bathroom was well-equipped too—with a great shower, heated rail, hairdryer, and importantly, a magnifying mirror! On a previous visit, we stayed in a family room, and the large sofa bed was ideal for our son. The free high-speed WiFi was excellent throughout.
But what truly makes The Daxer so special is the people. Every single member of the team—from housekeeping and kitchen staff to bar, reception and waiting staff—contributed to making our stay exceptional. Their warmth, friendliness and genuine willingness to help stood out every day. We were especially impressed by the number of languages spoken—it really reflects their dedication to making every guest feel at home.
A truly wonderful team, and a place we will return to again and again.
- I1017NTlydiam (10/5): A Great Place to stay - Wonderful friendly hotel and top staff.
- christinahI6325AN (10/5): A great hotel - Just back from a week at hotel Daxter and it was exactly what we needed.
This was our first ever skiing trip and I wanted a hotel that was conveniently located to make things as hassle free as possible.
Hotel Daxter is literally a 3 minute walk from the bottom of the ski lift and ski hire shop, so after a long day of skiing it’s great to only have a short walk back to the hotel.
There’s a great heated boot room with plenty of space for boots and skis/snow boards.
We didn’t arrive at the hotel until late in the evening and were concerned that everything would be closed, but we needn’t have worried as the hotel put on a hot buffet for the late arrivals so the kids had plenty to eat.
From 3-4.30pm the hotel puts on hot drinks and cake for the adults as well as pasta for the kids. Which is a really nice touch when you get back with hungry children (the bar is also open if you need something a bit stronger)
We were half board and my son is a vegetarian so I was a little nervous over the food situation, but there was plenty for him to eat from both the buffet and the evening menu. The only thing is a lot of the buffet is not labelled, so if you have allergies you’d have to ask the staff for the ingredients.
The hotel has a great pool which we spent plenty of time in. There’s also several saunas.
The rooms weren’t the largest but we had everything we needed and pretty much spent all our time on the mountain. Towels, shampoo and shower gel are all provided in the room.
As our first ever family holiday skiing hotel Daxter was exactly what went wanted. Close to the slopes and lifts, warm and welcoming staff, great food and plenty of amenities to keep the kids and adults happy.
We will definitely be coming back!
Plus if you get the Alpin ski pass it gives you access to the local buses which stop right by the hotel and go to all the other local ski areas
- LEDDER5 (10/5): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding stay – one of the best Ski hotels we’ve ever experienced - ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Outstanding stay – one of the best Ski hotels we’ve ever experienced
We had a fantastic stay at Gartenhotel Daxer and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it – truly one of the best hotels we’ve stayed in.
The evening dining options were excellent, with a great choice each night. You can either enjoy the buffet or pre-select your main course (meat, fish, or vegetarian), which you conveniently choose each morning at breakfast via a QR code menu and form. The salad starters and soups were outstanding, with plenty of variety and consistently high quality. Afternoon cakes and hot snacks were a real bonus too, including soup and savoury options, a lovely touch after a day on the slopes.
The hotel bar was very reasonably priced with excellent service. A special mention must go to Robert, who looked after us all week, an absolute credit to the hotel and someone who genuinely enhances the guest experience.
Our room was one of the best we’ve had: very spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped with everything you’d expect. We did bring our own travel kettle, which proved useful, but otherwise the room was excellent.
Connie at Reception is brilliant friendly, knowledgeable, and always happy to share local tips, which really added to how enjoyable our stay was.
The location is ideal for skiing, with the ski lift only around 200 metres from the hotel. The in-house ski lockers are excellent, although for a small additional fee you can also rent a locker directly at the lift for extra convenience (purchase from Brundl Sports).
Overall, this is an outstanding hotel with fantastic food, great staff, excellent facilities, and a superb location. A five-star recommendation all round
- whillk (10/5): Amazing stay! Cant wait to return. - We had a wonderful seven-night stay at this hotel—it was fantastic in every way. We stayed as a group of six adults and two children and found it perfect for our needs. The location was excellent, with the ski lift less than a five-minute walk from the hotel, and it was also very convenient for buses into town.
The hotel itself was traditional and spotlessly clean, with friendly and welcoming staff. The food was amazing, and we really enjoyed the afternoon snacks and the drinks package. The pool and family-friendly spa were fantastic after a long day of skiing. We can’t wait to return.
- PeterD2549 (10/5): This hotel is five star plus plus. - Fantastic hotel, 500 yards from the ski slope. The owner and the staff were super- efficient and friendly, food was great with loads of choice and beautifully prepared. I was in room 156 overlooking the valley; stunning views and the room was always warm, as was the shower. There is a huge swimming pool, 3 saunas, a steam room and a well equipped gym. There is a lift to all floors.
Special mention to one member of staff, Robert, who on his day off took me and another guest up the mountain to show us places to ski that were away from the main slopes, so were quiet and fantastic to ski. He even videoed us.
- Curious49342671291 (8/5): Fabulous Wait Staff - We stayed at the hotel for a week and would like to thank all of the wait staff, who were incredibly friendly and welcoming and truly made our stay special. A special mention goes to Robert, who was extremely attentive, professional, and always made us feel well looked after.
The food was cooked well and nicely presented, although we did feel the ingredients could have been a little fresher.
The swimming pool, steam room, and sauna were fabulous and very enjoyable overall. However, as the week went on the pool became noticeably colder, and by Thursday it was unfortunately too cold to stay in comfortably.
The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout and is in a great location, which made it very convenient for our stay. Overall, we had a lovely week and would happily return.
- StuR466 (10/5): Amazing Holiday - We stayed at the Hotel Daxer from the 5th - 12th Jan. warm welcome after a very long day , friendly and helpful staff, couldn’t do enough to help. Lovely hotel set away from town . Food was amazing and plentiful , staff always helpful . Room was great , lovely views , when it stopped snowing . Facilities are excellent . I’d recommend this Hotel to anyone and will be planning to visit again .
- RaiDRay (10/5): Superb hotel - Yes it's out of the town centre but that's a plus in my eyes. Easy 20mins walk down through the trees, or catch the free bus {with Guest card) that is every half hour. Less frequent after 6 but run until 10.45pm. We booked via TUI and were in a Deluxe room. This was spacious with views of the lake and good balcony. 3 mins walk to the 3 open cablecars, also free with Guest card leading to some fab walking areas. Outdoor pool was lovely for a cool down, with a decent sized area with sunbeds for a relax in the afternoon. All inclusive was brilliant, decent wine and beer and variety of soft drinks. Tended to have Radler or wine spritzer during the day. Food was amazing -so much choice at breakfast and evening. Didn't bother with lunch but afternoon snacks was coffee, cakes and usually something else like soup or lasagne. Totally recommend this hotel if you're not a party animal.
- Tourist10415126087 (6/5): Was ok - Lovely hotel with pros and cons.
Beautiful setting
Friendly staff
Lovely meals. Lots of choice. Hot and presented beautifully. Reasonable choice for vegetarians
Very Clean
Wonderful Saunas and steam rooms. Clean large and lots of towels. Be aware people don't cover up
But....
No air Conditioning so hot in the summer.
Smokers area was by our room, so our room was always smokey, not great.
Towels were thin thread bear and like sand paper
Floors are thin so kept awake by people and children walking and running down the corridors
All inclusive, but they charge you €5 for a tiny paper bag to put your lunch in!!
Refused us lunch on arrival altho that's what we had paid for!!
Our rep sorted it for us but everyday we still had to battle to get a bag for lunch repeating TUI had sorted it out.
No food labels on anything which as vegetarians made it very difficult.
Food and drinks are cleared away before the allocated finish times so beware!
- Larry (10/5): - Fabulous breakfast buffet. Great bathroom. Super friendly and helpful staff.
Short walk to cable lift to mountain. Big walk down to town/waterfront but there is a bus 71.
- sophiejG1167BQ (10/5): FABULOUS HOTEL!! - We stayed in Hotel Daxer for a weeks ski holiday in March. I cannot recommend this hotel higher. My mum was injured so spent significantly more time than expected in the hotel and the staff couldn’t have been kinder and more accommodating.
The facilities, proximity to ski lifts, food, bedrooms and over vibe was perfect! Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we will be back 😊
- Steve509926 (8/5): Great hotel & a great stay - Great stay at the hotel from the minute we arrived to the minute we left.
Fantastic staff who all work exceptionally hard, they always appeared happy and wanted to make sure everything was ok. The food was very good, great choice and good quality. Hotel bar prices no dearer than the bars in the town, but the bar itself is a bit small. Our room was good, not outstanding, but the bed was very, very comfortable. Pool and sauna are great and we used them a lot. The hotel location for the ski lifts is very good just a 50 metre walk, but the hotel is 2 Kms from the town of Zell am Zee and the bus stops running at 6.00 pm Sat/Sun and 6.25 pm midweek, we ended up walking up the hill on 4 occasions.
We really liked this hotel, it had a good vibe similar to that of a good chalet but with hotel facilities, that may have been down to the guests we met but I think the hotel & staff contributed a lot to the good atmosphere.
Two recommendations (for the owners) to make the hotel even better -
Move the bar from the restaurant to the room adjacent to the reception on the right from the front entrance. It would free up restaurant space, makes the bar area bigger and more comfortable. Guests will spend more money in a more relaxed area.
Provide more seating in or just outside, the ski/boot room. It was crowded mid March, I'd hate to see how crowded it gets peak season.
We will definitely be back and I'd recommend this hotel.
- T3920EXcherylw (10/5): A great stay - Really good stay here. Family of 5 (4 adults one
5 yr old).
Check in was really quick and easy and before check in time.
All the team here were friendly and efficient, nothing was to much trouble.
Food was really good and the waiters were amazing, food came hot and the choice of food was really good if you didn’t fancy anything from the menu you could put your self down for the buffet.
Soft drinks, hot drinks and water was unlimited and the alcohol was fairly priced and the Hugo/aperol spritz was really well done. I was surprised the bar bill was so small at the end of the week. It’s worth mentioning it’s cash only in the hotel so if you don’t like using atms take cash.
We had a ground floor room which was massive with underfloor heating. Ut had everything you’d need for hanging ski clothes up. I heard someone saying there should be tea/coffee making facilities in the room and seemed disappointed but there’s an array of self serve coffee/cappuccino/ teas/ hot chocolate and more before skiing and after skiing until 9pm so if you like a brew all in the night take a travel kettle.
The cleaner who cleaned our room 203 never saw them but it was left immaculate everyday. The only thing I was unhappy about was not being able to leave them a tip for all their hard work (had no cash once I paid my bill)
Swimming pool super, modern with exceptional views of the Forrest though a glass wall. My son loved swimming everyday for an hour.
Location is really close to the Trass express ski lift about 500 m away.
I would definitely stay here again.
Extra info
We didn’t go into town although the main bus station is 10 mins on the bus or 13€ in a taxi. The bus can be caught at the ski lift (number 71)
We went to the main spa in Kaprun which is further than you think we got a taxi there for 55€ and got the bus back to the bus station and a taxi back to the hotel.
- P8152QOjonathanm (10/5): Fantastic hotel and staff - I don’t review often but this hotel deserves it. All I can say is first class from start to finish. Firstly location to the main gondola for us with 3 children was ideal only a 2 minute walk. Rooms so clean and everything perfect. Swimming pool and saunas brilliant after a day on the slopes. Food unreal breakfast big selection, snack 3-5pm tea ,coffee ,soft drinks all day what more does anyone want. Evening meal choice of buffet or a la carte food was a very high standard. Big shout out to the staff serving drinks and lifting plates these guys are unsung heroes making dinner service run like clockwork they could teach a lot of server’s back home how to work. If you have anything to complain about if you stay here then there is no pleasing you. Great job everyone you made our holiday . To top it off we had a late fall of snow which made for some great skiing.
- 239samanthaj (10/5): AMAZING FIND RIGHT NEAR SKI LIFTS - This Hotel is amazing, location for ski lifts brilliant. Rooms very comfortable
food delicious. The Swimming pool and saunas were great to relax .uscles at the end of the day.I cant think of anything negative to say about the hotel. The staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for the guests. The staff Team were led by a Manager , Ljios who never stopped and led his team by example.Thank you for a lovely holiday. Both my son and I had a great time and are booked to return next year 😀 Thank you
- A2803LDhelens (10/5): Excellent stay, lovely hotel - I can not fault this hotel ( other than its boiling but that’s ski hotels for ya!).
Staff, service, food , location, rooms - all excellent . Location is fabulous for the lifts and could get a bus into town when needed . Thank you for a fab stay, will definitely be back.
- nikobulgariaa (10/5): Amazing ski holiday ! - Beginning of March 25 we had amazing one week with family and friends in the hotel and would like to thank all staff for the great service ! Food , rooms , after ski facilities - swimming pool , saunas were great ,perfect location next to lift , everything
was above our expectations ! Also we are recommending already to friends for next vacations and we also like to repeat some time soon ! Big , Big Thanks ! :)
- dab8423 (10/5): Great Hotel in a picture postcard place - Review for Garden Hotel Daxer
Our stay at Garden Hotel Daxer was absolutely fantastic! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome by the incredibly friendly and always-happy staff. The service was top-notch, and nothing was too much trouble.
The food was excellent, with a great selection at every meal, catering to all tastes. The facilities were equally impressive – the pool and sauna were perfect for relaxing after a day exploring, and the rooms were spacious, modern, and very comfortable.
A special mention to Conny, who went above and beyond to help us when we had an emergency—her assistance made a huge difference, and we are extremely grateful!
The hotel’s location couldn’t be better, right at the foot of the mountain, offering breathtaking views of the lake and surrounding peaks. Whether you’re looking for adventure or relaxation, this place has it all.
We highly recommend Garden Hotel Daxer and will definitely be returning in the future!
- Adventure10320763625 (10/5): Fantastic hotel - A fantastic hotel, we were travelling as 2 adults, 2 adult children and a partner. We were given a really lovely 2 bedroom family room for myself, husband and son. We paid for a triple room through Crystal ski, so was brilliant for him to have a separate room.
The food was excellent, plenty of choice for both breakfast and evening meals. The free soft and hot drinks were brilliant, and very drinkable, not cheap and nasty.
We couldn’t fault the staff, they were all so friendly and helpful. The swimming complex was great for relaxing after skiing, really lovely with plenty of seats.
My main concern was the location out of the town, but for the gondola it was superb. Just under a 5 minute walk, and you were on the way to the slopes. For the town, we walked down a couple of evenings, which was fine, but the climb up was too much after a full day skiing. We had a taxi back up, which was €20 for 5 adults. The hotel gave us the number for the taxi company, they were very efficient, thankfully not too far with the crazy driving!
- U2339IOdavidg (10/5): A quite magnificent hotel. - I don’t know where to start with this hotel, it was simply phenomenal. We were a family of 4 who booked with Crystal for a skiing holiday in February 2025. We’d previously stayed here in 2020 and had no hesitation to return and honestly, it’s just got better.
The location is amazing, a very short walk to the gondola, the ski school and a ski hire shop. There is a regular bus that takes you into Zell if you wish to go, which we did once. It’s was easy.
The food here is simply amazing in terms of choice and quality. There were 4 à la carte options each night, including the buffet. The buffet was incredible with so much choice. The starters from the buffet each evening were delicious and the quality of the à la carte simply exquisite. There is something for everyone and a great bar for pre dinner drinks.
The pool is plenty big though understandably was busy after each ski day. The spa was clean and the saunas hot!
Our room was perfect, cleaned each day and always warm. We had a basement room, which led to a terrace with pet rabbits (that my wife and daughter adored). The pillows are a bit flat but I slept wonderfully.
The staff were very friendly, helpful and mostly all spoke perfect English. I can’t praise them highly enough, they all worked so hard to make our visit perfect.
We also used the local ski school, booked via crystal. My children loved it and improved so much in 5 days.
Lastly, a big shout out to our Crystal reps, Agnes and Mercedes. So helpful, friendly and simply a delight to talk to.
I would 100% recommend this hotel if you’re skiing in Zell, it was magnificent.
- busybee147 (8/5): Will be booking again. - This was a great hotel and we will definitely be back. Other reviews give all good information on location and bus numbers that you will need to use.
Only negative I can say and it's down to personal choice but our beds were very hard and we didn't sleep very well. We never asked if beds could be changed or reported this to reception, so not sure if anything could have been done in this situation.
- L1344JProdrigoa (10/5): Friendly atmosphere, excellent location, great staff! - A few hints for future guests:
- The hotel is family-owned, and family-friendly, expect mainly couples and some kids.
- The hotel is 2 km uphill from Zell-am-See village, so any commuting requires the bus 71 (free for skiers, every 15 min at rush hours, every 30 min at lunch time). Sounds like a hassle, but they flow really well and on time.
- The food was ok, nothing out of this world, but the extended hours of the buffet was brilliant! Coffee/hot chocolates pretty much at any time of the day (even outside the snack hours).
- Our balcony had a not-so-great view (to the street, uneventful), but the room was big, clean, lots of wardrobes, good shower, good mattress. It is a quiet area during the night, good place to rest.
- The room service was consistently good. Restaurant staff was excellent!
- The pool was great to relax after a day of skiing. Really good taste on its ambience, and great view of the mountains.
- The hotel doesn't accept payment in cards, which is hard to understand in 2025. I read that this is the same in many places/bars in Zell-am-See (and Austria), but we managed to pay everything else with debit cards. There is an ATM outside the hotel, but it charges £4 per withdrawal.
- The hotel has a ski room (no lockers though). However, even more convenient is the Brundl (sports shop) ski depot, directly below the lifts. It costs £10 for 2 people, per day (there is an option for 4 people as well). It's excellent value for money, and made our commuting and runs a lot easier.
- The esplanade/lake is great to spend a couple of hours, and there are good restaurants down in Zell-am-See.
- The slopes were quite good, even though there was no snow at all while we were there, in the first week of February. In my opinion, it's primarily a place for intermediates. Beginners will be restricted to a small area (as usual). Advanced skiers won't have many challenges in the vicinity, but can perhaps get the ski bus to Kitzsteinhorn.
- The scenery while skiing down the Schmittenhohe (2000 meters), though, is fantastic! You will stop for photos and videos for sure!
- Going to Kitzsteinhorn will require you to get the bus 660. As mentioned, buses are easy, clean, and dependable. This mountain goes up to 3000 metres high, but the views are not as picturesque as Zell-am-See. And it will take a full day commuting (buses, gondolas, lifts). Worth visiting if you have a spare day and would like to try something different.
- Like I would expect from Austria, everything was well organised, and the Gartenhotel Daxer was not disappointing. Definitely recommend it!
- palswI2449 (10/5): Great skiing holiday - As a family of four we had an fantastic week skiing and loved the hotel. It was cosy, warm and very clean, the rooms were spacious and the views are amazing. All the staff were friendly and extremely attentive always smiling. The food was very good the cakes and snacks at 3pm was a lovely touch. The location to the slopes was great and the heated boot room was excellent best we've experienced. We used the pool and sauna often which is just what was needed after a full day on slopes. The only thing to improve on, is to have better quality pillows. We would certainly recommend this hotel as a wonderful place to stay in Zell am See.
- carolhP3675OT (10/5): Perfect ski trip - 1 week half board. 2nd visit here and just as good as 5 years ago. This hotel has everything you need. Buffet breakfast is great with plenty of choices. 4 choices at dinner including the buffet. The main course options are amazing and very good quality meals. Free soft drinks coffee and tea. Afternoon tea put on every day with cakes and usually one savoury hot dish, chilli, chips etc. I am gluten free (not celiac) and they were able to make all main meal options GF for me. They had some GF bread at breakfast but I took my own.
Family run hotel with great staff who work very hard. Big shout to Liosh and the team who made our stay perfect 👌
Rooms are extremely comfortable as are the beds. Balcony with a great view. Just the 2 of us and our room was more than adequate. Stayed with children on previous visit and the family room was a good size. Very clean and bathroom with hairdryer and fresh towels. Room turned round every day.
New pool added recently which is absolutely stunning. At least 4 saunas on at 4pm every day. Towels provided. You can hire a robe at reception too.
Love, love, love this hotel and cannot recommend enough. 10 minute walk to the Gondola. Perfect 👌
- gemmad2025 (10/5): Fantastic hotel for our first ski holiday - What a fantastic hotel. Arrived 4th January with family and friends. Hotel is 3 minute walk to nursery slope and gondola.
Beautiful setting against the mountain. Great location. 5 minute walk to bus to bring you to the town.
Hotel food was very good quality. The dinners were really nice and the snacks available at 3pm apres ski was a lovely extra. Drinks on tap like soda and tea coffee so a really nice touch.
Pool and sauna are a great amenity after skiing.
Staff very friendly and excellent service.
Only thing I say the hotel is missing is bigger bar space. Awkward place and only approx 8 bar stools around small bar. A little bigger space would make this hotel literally perfect.
Highly recommend. You won’t be disappointed.
- C2379FHmichaelf (10/5): Great hotel and staff - Great hotel , ideal location and great staff . The food here is excellent, so much to eat . We had breakfast and evening meal included in our rate. The staff were so friendly and attentive. The room we got had 2 singles and the couch converted to a double bed. This was not very comfortable. The pool and sauna were a great relief each day . The location is 2min walk to the base of the ski slopes and cable cars and ski rentals. It’s a 20 min walk down to town or bus 71 which goes every 20 minutes or so until 6 ish
- Delphic_Dave (8/5): Great hotel for a family holiday - We stayed at the hotel for Christmas Week 2024 and had a great time. The hotel is spotless the food fantastic and the pool is great too! With the location less than than 5 minutes from the slopes the location is almost perfect. You can also catch the regular ski bus into town, but these stop in the evening, so if you like your nightlife this can be a drag, though not an issue for our family group of 6.
I would definitely highly recommend this for a family holiday and would book again.
- annmaried381 (10/5): First ski trip - I can only echo other reviews this hotel is fabulous. Fantastic pool and saunas. The views from hotel are wonderful. The food was great something for everyone. Staff are very helpful. The hotel location is great too next to ski school and gondolas. We used the no.71 bus located just 5 min walk from hotel to get into and out of Zell am see. Would definitely return and recommend this hotel.
- Mum2leo (10/5): Fabulous pool - This hotel is superb. It’s very clean, food is plentiful and beautifully presented. If you don’t want anything from the set menu, there is a vast choice at the buffet. It’s about 4 mins walk in ski shoes to the lifts. There’s the Tauren spa on the other side of town which I originally wanted to go to. Then I visited the hotel pool. This hotel has a fabulous pool open between 7:00-21:00.
As I don’t ski, I generally had the pool to myself. You can hire a bathrobe for €7/week. Also, there’s a huge tv on the wall! The ambient lighting is just right. Around the pool are lots of sun loungers. The view from the pool is spectacular. I’ve stayed in a few hotels and don’t bother writing reviews. This hotel is brilliant. Staff are very polite and helpful.
- stevenrV3070VU (10/5): A must book!! - One word AMAZING!!
This was our first Ski holiday (2 adults & 1 Teen). The hotel is first class. Staff are incredible, friendly and cant do enough to help you. The hotel is 3 minute walk from 3 ski lift taking you to different slopes. The ski school and a nice warm up blue slope are beside the ski lifts.
The hotel is is very traditional but this for me is a absolute positive, its not trying to be something else and is what it is, which is fantastic.
Pool area is very good with views of the mountains, 3 different saunas to choose from which is what was needed after a full day of skiing.
Food - Buffet breakfast always great with plenty of selection from hot food to cereal.
Evening meals were also great with a meat dish, fish dish or vegetarian dish to choose from and also the buffet was available which always had a quality selection.
Snacks available from 3-5pm everyday.
The skiing was very good with a variety of different slopes. Some tricky red slopes and a difficult black slope taking you all the way back to the ski lifts.
Overall This hotel and location was fantastic and we will be booking back up for 2025.
- Susanna (10/5): - Upea paikka, upea palvelu!
- Rica (10/5): - We liked everything about this place. It is clean, good breakfast, ample parking. Cable car very near by. Scenery amazing. We decided to stay one more day. Highly recommend this hotel.
To our surprise we were issued a 'summer card' that provided few free activities that was a bonus
- Christina (6/5): So la la.
- Eric (10/5): Great value, great location and great facilities - Daxer really gives amazing value for money.
Food - In addition to an excellent breakfast which even includes a juicing machine with availability of fresh carrots, pears, apples & ginger root, the hotel also gives a complimentary afternoon snack with hot/cold drinks, a hot snack and cakes. Dinner at 15 euro a head is also great value and food is good quality.
Room - Everything as required and excellent shower. No coffee/tea facilities but free drinks are available all day from the lobby. This is not only tea or coffee but a whole range of juices and carbonated drinks, and excellent hot chocolate
Staff - very pleasant to interact with. Great service and very friendly
Cleanliness - Rooms were cleaned very well and the whole area of the hotel was well kept.
Extras - indoor swimming pool, 4 saunas at different temperatures, where you can go nude or not as you prefer. Great childrens facilities - play areas inside and outside.
Location - couldn't be better. only a couple of minutes walk to the main cable cars. The hotel is slightly outside the main town but is only a 5 minute drive or bus ride from the centre.
As with all hotels here we received a Summer Card which give free use of all public transport including cablecars, lake cruise and free entrance to many tourist destinations.
What else can I say?
Highly recommended
