Guest Reviews
- Retnasamy (8/5): - Ok
- Carly (10/5): - Great hotel, staff very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and perfectly adequate for stopover.
Table football, electric darts and games/chill out area with bean bags and books is great for kids.
Breakfast was very good but a bit expensive.
Would definitely stay again and definitely redommend.
- Daniel (6/5): - Hotel was fine. Only issue was lack of food available. Only option offered was premade pizza.
- Nicola (8/5): - Pleasant enough for the price. Connects with the styles property and the sudden decor change to highlight being in budget is very obvious.
Very basic rooms with just a bed and tv
- Nicola (6/5): - As this was a budget hotel we expected the facilities to be lacking. However we did expect cleanliness, we found what looked lie pubic hairs in the shower and next to the sink and the toilet had not been cleaned properly there were Brown marks left by someone’s recent trip to the loo. Ok for a nights stay if you’re driving through or just need to crash for the night. Mc Donald’s in walking distance if you need a warm drink in the morning.
- Joanna (6/5): - The check in was good and efficient and friendly. One of the beds had not been cleaned so we needed to change the sheets
- Andrew (6/5): Thanks for taking notice - As i explained to your representative on the online chat. The stay didn't happen as we are still stranded near Bordeaux.
- Lesley (6/5): Don't take your dog - Very disappointed to find our room was at the farthest end of the hotel, on the first floor. Not very suitable for a stay with a dog . A long walk to take her out for a comfort break during the night.
- Keryn (8/5): - Could not find any lift to the upper floors and bedding a strange texture (still clean though) but otherwise everything was as expected. Room suitable for one night and breakfast was great
- Damian (8/5): - A very good experience from start to finish. Check in was smooth and uneventful, the staff were friendly and helpful. Some concerns about the security of the car park which was accessible to all from the street as there had been instances where cars had been broken into; thankfully nothing happened to us though. We walked next door and visited McDonalds for breakfast which was very convenient.
- Gerard (10/5): - Very good hotel, good price
- Tatyana (6/5): - Very modest property with very small room.
- mattmY9187OJ (4/5): Highway robbery - I accidentally booked the wrong night (on a date two weeks in the future) and had to pay twice as much in person for the night I actually needed to stay at the Ibis Budget Rouen Sud Zenith. I was told I could arrange a refund through Booking.com for the online booking I was not going to use. When approached via Booking.com to cancel and refund the booking, the Ibis refused. Thereby effectively stealing 50 Euros from me for a room they will be able to sell again.
The room also smelled of cigarettes despite being non-smoking and the toilet was not clean. You don't expect great things from a budget hotel. But you also don't expect to have to pay twice.
- Jasbinder (8/5): - Good, budget hotel. Only spoilt by no air condition in rooms. If you open the windows for air, there is a lot of noise from the hotel car park and surrounding area.
- Mojtaba (2/5): - Small , dingy, dark room.
Not worth a penny
- Mokhtar (8/5): - Service restauration
- Verified traveler (4/5): Basic - Très Basic. Chambre très petite. On dirait une cabine bateau.
Niveau propreté ce n'est pas top. Un WC sale. Un Rabat fissuré. Une douche rouillée.
Une seule prise.
photos à l'appui.
Accueil chaleureux.
- Verified traveler (10/5): tres bien - déplacement professionnel tres bien
- Verified traveler (6/5): In transit through Rouen - Very friendly staff. The room equipment was in good conditions, however it was not very clean, in particular the floor and the wc. Also it was a no-smoking room but had strong smell of tobacco.
- Luke (8/5): - Basic but functional hotel.
Rustig gelegen.
- Gary (8/5): - Basic but clean and serviceable , good for an overnight stay.
- jeanettej491 (8/5): Good Stay - Good hotel for a stop over, easy access to motorway to continye journey south
Spacious, bed was comfortable and clean
Shower good and clean
Parking ok but very busy
Reception very polite and helpful
Good
- indri45 (2/5): No effort shown at a difficult time - I booked a room for mid May back in February and it soon became clear that I would not be able to do it. I followed the advice on the Accor website that said to contact the hotel to arrange the credit voucher. Did so via email and waited. No response. Things are busy right now I thought but it would be nice to have an acknowledgement so a couple of weeks later I tried again and copied the nearby Ibis in too in case they were a shared team working on a skeleton staff. Time passed and it was a week before my booking so I called the general Accor helpline. The person there said that the hotel would just process it automatically and would be working through the dates.
The date of my booking has passed now and I have heard nothing from them at all. No standard email sent out to all bookings explaining the situation, no "we've received your email and will deal with it as soon as we can." Nothing.
You book with a chain because you feel it implies some kind of brand standards or accountability. No professionalism at all here. No customer service. Now I will have to seek a refund through my credit card when I was initially more than happy to take voucher and use it at a later point. Not only has this hotel lost my custom, but the chain in general.
- HRLindsay (10/5): Does what it say on the tin - We stopped here again on our way down through France. The room was modernised and was excellent value. The breakfast too was value for money.
There are a fe restaurants, including MacDo's right enough, within walking distance. The adjacent Ibis does food as well draught beers.
- Verified traveler (8/5): No Surprises. - A wing of the Ibis through which check in was made. You know when you pass from 1 to the other, as decor changes. Room was clean and the hotel did all that was required. Stayed here on a number of occasions, so knew what I was signing up for and what the local area was like. It is a 'typical' French hotel on the outskirts with other hotels and facilities nearby. There was a new (to me) bus stop/terminus which looked as if it would serve Rouen if you chose to stay here. Check this out for yourself though.
- sleepy155 (6/5): Good stopover hotel - The hotel is about 10 miles south of the Rouen city center. Friendly and helpful staff. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Aldi market about 1 mile away. Not much around for food or entertainment. Really just a place to stop and rest on your Normandy road trip.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Environnement calme . Pas de bruit. Pain du petit déjeuner excellent. Propre et fonctionnel
- Verified traveler (4/5): Fine if you are a smoker with low expectations - We booked this as an overnight pit stop on the way to southern France with my baby. The entire place stunk of smoke and the room was no different. The bed for the three of us was a double with single bunk above (not ideal for a baby) so we hauled our travel cot in.
No soap in the minuscule bathroom, only showergel attached to the shower.
No restaurant in the hotel itself but there may have been one in the ibis next door.
Overall not somewhere we would stay again
- FreDFrench (10/5): Perfect - The best ratio quality to cost I'd never seen.
Rooms are quite with modern equipments and furnitures, clean perfectly. Beds are perfect.
Breakfast is served the morning.
I recommand this place for small budget.
- Amjad (10/5): Great hotel for the price! - Excellent staff at check in and at breakfast. Clean and extremely well designed room. Close to McDonald's and two other restaurants. Given a 15% voucher too for the nearby restaurant. Ovwrall, excellent for the price.
- Yorks04 (8/5): Ideal overnight stopover - This is an ideal stopover, which is near the motorway. Basic room, very clean.
There is free parking and breakfast was good.
There is a McDonald's next door.
Friendly staff, good value for money. We shall certainly use the Ibis again.
- Verified traveler (4/5): Wouldn’t stay again. - Bad communication about a diversion right outside the hotel left us driving in circles at midnight and the self check in was out of order with no explanation as to what todo
- 430sallyd (8/5): Overnight travel stop - Great travel stopover near the motorway, basic room comfortable enough .restaurant next door and also McDonald's. Check in codes not texted to my phone as expected so checked in at normal Ibis hotel .
- Verified traveler (6/5): Ok for 1 night stop over. - This hotel is ok for a one night stop over but I probably wouldn’t stay any longer. The room smelt like smoke as we walked in so we had to open the window to air the room out. Other than that everything else was ok. A little budget in terms of amenities but this is what you expect of a budget hotel.
- 103charlieg (6/5): Stopover while driving south - We booked the Ibis Budget due to the availability of late check in (we arrived at 2am from Calais!) which was useful. The room was basic, it was very clean but the bed was not particularly comfortable. We had breakfast in the Ibis next door- this was pretty good, plenty of choice and fresh pastries, although it was nearly €10 each. We also took advantage of the free parking in a gated secure area. Good value for money, just a shame about the bed.
- SoumayaN20 (2/5): Terrible - Beds where dirty, they gave us another room but wouldn upgrade us to ibis red. Sexnoises came out of different rooms. Cleaningservice didnt clean the topbed after first night. Bad service at loby, can't talk english and won't even try to understand. Im comin back to rouen but never to ibis in Rouen again.
- GaryJS (6/5): Useful stop on route. - We often stay here either to or from our destination in France. We also have our dog with us so not looking for anywhere too fancy. The hotel is curently deteriorating, not enough for us to seek elsewhere but enough to cause concern. For several years now the automated check-in was broken, but you could go to the reception in the non budget section next door. This time the code entry was broken, so required a traipse around the building to gain access. The shower / loos in the room are slightly moldy and the additional security looks all seem to have been removed. We never have breakfast there as it just seems too plasticky compared with nearby offerings, including a MacDonalds. There is a good restaurant next door, which we try to use each stay. We will continue to use the hotel but would really like the management to spend a little effort to restore standards.
- Verified traveler (8/5): Hotel Looks As Tired As its Night Time Guests. - We booked in using the Ibis check in as the automated kiosk wasn't working on our last stay, and if we had a room problem as we did last time, it's not easy to talk to a machine especially one that's also stuck in Windows 7 error! There was a repeated problem with a non smoking room being intensely smoker polluted. Room 212 was allocated to our party (again) and swapped (again) for a pleasant non polluted room (for the 2nd time in 5 weeks)! The hotel was OK, clean room, with a decent breakfast, but it is in need of smartening up as it's looking tired and uncared for. Part of the corridor just after the fire door split between the 2 hotel brands really smells of stale smoker's smoke. It's now bad enough to make me choose a hotel in near by Val De Reuil that offers a better overall experience (a different brand) at a similar overall price. I've seen this hotel decline over the years and become more like the same hotel at Cleon (not stayed there for a while for same reasons) as both had the same lack of care from management and in need of some love and maintenance. The on site staff were/are struggling to provide a service to guests and overcome the malaise the property generates on guests.
- davidwA3369JT (6/5): Second Time Right - Ibis Budget entrance not accessible. Had to book in via Ibis. The non smoking room, 212 we were first given was SO strongly smelling of smoke it was uninhabitable. The fact that it was offered to friends on our return 5 weeks later, and still smelled appalling. .. shows a continuing unresolved problem. The alternative rooms offered were fully acceptable, but not encountered this problem ever before hence why it is mentioned here, twice in 2 stays! Had we booked in online wold the change of room be possible....?
- cwm72 (4/5): Stopover on way from dieppe - Location was good for a stopover and 24-hour reception was essential for us.
I wasn't prepared for the reality of what 'budget hotel' meant. It was clean, but very tired and shabby and clearly budget fixtures and fittings. Odd bathroom arrangement with sink in room and tiny cubicle with loo and shower. Towels were like teatowels.
The worst thing was the unpleasant smell that hit you when walking into ibis budget from adjoining ibis hotel. Unfortunately it was as bad in the rooms. Drains? Stale smoke?
First and last stay in ibis budget for me. However, it served it's purpose on that night...
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Easy to get to comfortabl
- HJS2012 (4/5): A budget hotel let down by simple problems - The rooms were fine for a budget hotel (of which I have stayed in many in France - you must accept that the rooms and hotel are basic but functional) but there were two areas which were rather disappointing and let the hotel down significantly.
The showers in both rooms we stayed in smelled very badly - you could smell the drains whenever the bathroom door was open - not at all pleasant. The other issue was the amount of noise from outside the hotel and the nearby road. It was very warm and there was no air-conditioning so we had to sleep with the windows open. This meant that our sleep was disturbed due to all of the noise outside.
If these two issues were addressed it would be perfectly acceptable (and good value) for a budget hotel chain in France.
- anthonyb385 (4/5): Possibly the worst Accor group hotel? - Where to start? Positives: the staff are brilliant- a special mention going to Daphné. You'll find them in the Ibis next door or in the morning at breakfast. Just opposite the exhibition centre if you're going there. Breakfast from 6:30 in a small area near the entrance 6,15€. Nice, fresh fruit salad for breakfast if they haven't run out. Relatively cheap.
Negatives: a lot. Reception is a machine: enter your reservation code. Did so only to find it couldn't print out a receipt with the code for your room, so had to take a photo of the screen. When booking, I had prepaid for the room with no breakfast. The machine automatically added the breakfast, added the ammount to the bill which meant I was locked out of the hotel the next night. Had to go next door to the Ibis to get access.
We had no towels and the bunk bed hadn't been made. So had to go next door again to the Ibis to get the towels and bedding. The bedding on the bunk bed wasn't changed throughout our 3 night stay.
The vinyl flooring in the toilet come shower cubicle was lifting at the edges and started leaking out a vile, pungent smelling liquid-leaking toilet? The carpets in all the corridors are badly stained and dusty. The doors are black and sticky from not having been cleaned in ages. Same goes for the bannisters. We had a second room on the ground floor which had had the security latch wrenched off the window. So it was impossible to air the room. We had a heat wave and there's no air conditioning.
My advice: do....not...stay...in..this..hotel.
If you want to be near the exhibition centre and want great service, from great staff, then book next door in the Ibis.
Accor, you have some great hotels and your staff are wonderful. Shame on you for keeping this Ibis budget hotel open for so long without renovating it.
- Robert (8/5): Well kept budget hotel - Great member of staff on reception when we arrived. Rooms clean and tidy. No lift, that we could find, which might make it more difficult for those accessing top (3rd) floor. Rates for breakfast are not that much cheaper than the Ibis Hotel across the car park and there is much more on offer there.
- Russell (6/5): never again - After been sent the wrong code to gain entry we tried the other hotel next door and they sorted everything out,
- derekp223 (8/5): Short stay - Overall our stay was pleasant. The one criticism was the poor quality of the pillows. The hairdryer was very noisy and this was a problem when the adjoining room used theirs during the late evening as it disturbed our sleep.
- Yvrazy (6/5): convenient location, near to the expo centre. Friendly staff - good point: free parking.
The snack menu is the same in every Ibis, I think, meaning that if you want something better than a microwave dish, you better go out to eat. But there's nothing wrong with that.
Three power outlets in the room (an absolute minimum).
Water flow rate might be a bit more, to have a bit of a stronger jet ... would make it easier to flush the shampoo out of your hair.
- alanhQ2944PR (8/5): Our one night stay en-route to Spain - Easy to find. Easy to park. Welcomed with a smile. Clean and as advertised.. Dog friendly. Some noise during the night. Great value for money and you get what you pay for. Will use IBIS Budget again for similar trips.
- AlanFCumbria (8/5): Stop over on the way south - Basic and cheap, we needed some where to stay after the 2 hour drive from Calais. Clean comfortable small rooms with shower and toilet, free onsite parking. Restaurants close by with plenty of choice. Would stay here again.
- Verified traveler (2/5): Awful experience - This was a nightmare. I was traveling with my cousin, who is in a wheelchair, so after making the reservation we called specifically to verify a room with 2 beds and wheelchair access. NOTE: the information and assurances we got on the phone were NOTHING LIKE what we found when we got there. When we arrived we could not get in the hotel because there is nobody on duty after a certain time. Had to go next door to get the key, then found the room was a small double bed rather than 2 beds. NOTE: YOU CANNOT CALL THE HOTEL FROM WITHIN THE HOTEL! After calling the central Ibis office we were told to exit the hotel to call someone within the hotel - absolutely ridiculous. Black hairs in bedsheets and on wall in shower. No shower curtain so water sprayed everywhere on floor, especially dangerous for someone with a physical disability. Shower bench was too small to be very functional and the plastic was in scary condition. In sharing a bed my cousin slept terribly - she has active Rheumatoid Arthritis and the stress of this room brought on a flair. Neither of us will ever stay at an Ibis again. The only bright spot was the 2 employees we encountered the following day were as helpful as possible.
