Guest Reviews
- Stephanie (10/5): - Thank you to the hosts for a wonderful stay! Breakfast and tea were perfect, room was clean and comfortable, and the grounds were peaceful.
- Dave (10/5): - Couldn’t fault it in any way , only hope they are still open come October 24
- Rana (10/5): - It was such an awesome joy to be there
- Kimberlee (10/5): - We absolutely loved! This place is top notch and the attention to details is impeccable! Just a wonderful place to stay. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend to anyone! Just lovely!
- Denise (10/5): Wonderful experience - Amazing peaceful place. Professionally run and very welcoming. Superb breakfast and every comfort thought of including hot drinks and tastefully furnished rooms.
The best B & B experienced in all my years of travel. Absolutely nothing to fault.
- david (10/5): - this was the best stay we have ever had on a vacation. Alex and Margret made us feel at home, the attention to detail and the hospitality were top-notch. this place is amazing.
- Jean (10/5): Great place to stay - Excellent place to stay, everything you could possibly need in your room. Breakfast was amazing. I am coeliac and rely on places catering for me. They even had gf sausages for me, gf toast and even gf biscuits in case I got hungry. Could not find fault with the place. Stayed three nights
- Mark (2/5): - We had a car event and we’re unable to arrive at property; however. We telephoned to keep the hosts updated. They seemed unsympathetic to the situation we found ourselves in and would not negotiate with us. Extremely disappointing.
- Teresa (10/5): Highland luxury. - A beautiful house located within breathtaking scenery provided a great start to our three day break. The family (can’t use the term “staff”!) gave us a warm welcome and, after showing us the room etc, we’re available but completely unobtrusive. Facilities were fabulous with extras including a decanter of sherry in the room, freely available biscuits/tea cakes /fresh milk/chocolates apart from those already in the room. Our room was immaculate with soft towels and toiletries. Overall a superb and high quality experience.
- Connie (10/5): - Alec and Margaret were wonderful hosts - the breakfast was fantastic - great hot and delicious breakfast; room was so comfortable with great shortbread cookies and KitKats chocolates and tea kettle with nice choices of tea. Very quiet, bed and sheets were sooo nice, and the two highland cows with their shaggy forelocks were the perfect Scotland amenity!
- Donna (10/5): - Beautiful country lodge away from the busyness of the city.
- MICHAEL (10/5): - Very clean, quiet (it is a bed and breakfast, but we never heard the other guests), and most of all — if you are looking for something different from a normal stay, this is the place. A kind of lace you will want to return. Private environment but still warm and welcoming. The owners obviously take great pride in their home, and love what they do… This is as close to a 10 star property that I have ever experienced. I went online looking for something different in the area of Clava Cairns. They exceeded our expectations. Thank you to the owners.
- Norman (10/5): - Caring people offering warm hospitality.
- Raymond (10/5): - I had an accessible twin room. The room was spacious and well equipped. Bedding was of high quality. Bathroom had walk in shower with rainfall shower head. Fresh milk and Tunnock's tea cakes were available for all. Extensive drinks menu with many local or Scottish options. Breakfast was freshly prepared again with local or Scottish produce. And breakfast had the added visual bonus of the local birdlife having their breakfast too. Lovely rural setting with extensive views
- Larry (10/5): - Wonderful place to stay. We wish we could have stayed longer. Beautiful rooms, views, breakfasts and drinks in the evening in front of the fire. Close enough to Inverness, but out in the country. If you have a chance to stay at Daviot Lodge, book it. You will not be disappointed.
- Gary (10/5): Warm, friendly, clean ,excellent breakfast - Warm, friendly, clean, excellent attentive management made our stay perfect
- Verified traveler (10/5): - the isolated location very quiet and peaceful
- YH (10/5): - Amazing breakfast
Beautiful environment
- John (10/5): - Had a wonderful overnight stay at Daviot Lodge in early September. Honestly cannot speak highly enough of the place. From the super friendly hosts to the first class breakfast to the highly comfortable room with first class bathroom facilities. Eating breakfast at sunrise with grouse running around was a moment to remember. All in all a top class experience. Wonderful!
- Katie (10/5): absolute gem - Wow! This place was really special. The hosts have thought of everything to make this place very special for travellers. Little treats welcome you throughout the guest house. Local shortbread in your room along with chocolates and sherry. In the main room, the hosts even have chocolates for your to relax by the fire. Loved the added entertainment of the two lovely highland bulls. Breakfast the next day was better than any cafe or restaurant I’ve been to in the UK. Clearly the hosts have gone to a lot of trouble to make this a wonderful experience. The room was lovely too with a very comfortable bed, TV and nice bathroom. Really friendly hosts ready when you need something but always ensuring your space and privacy. Can’t recommend this place enough. So far it has been the best accommodation we’ve had along our NC500 trip
- Gary (10/5): - Very charming lodge - would love to visit it again. The proprietors we're very kind and let me check in a bit early. The room was amazing - very clean and comfortable. They even had complimentary tea, biscuits (cookies), candy and sherry wine. The bathroom was very modern and nice. The bed was comfy. The location is a short drive from Inverness and Loch Ness. The breakfast was amazing. I tried everything while staying there. The grounds are very peaceful and beautiful. Really enjoyed driving around the small roads in the area. The lodge itself is very well furnished and has a pleasant quaintness. Really miss this place!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - I absolutely love it here! It’s the perfect sanctuary to rest and relax. The property is gorgeous as well, and the couple who run it are delightful!
- Jill (10/5): - This is a wonderful place to stay. Alex and Margaret are the perfect hosts- so charming and gracious. They really make you feel at home.
- Jonathan (10/5): - Staff couldn't be more helpful, would heartily recommend.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Very high standard of accommodation and facilities. Warm welcome from owners. Extra touches like fridge, chocolates and sherry added to the experience
- suzanne (10/5): Fabulous - Absolutely fabulous, what a gem of a place, so clean and comfortable, plus a great breakfast. 10/10
Tea lights, fresh flowers and complimentary decanter of sherry WoW
- Lotte (10/5): Best of the best. - The absolutly best B&B I have ever visited.
Warm loving cuple and a real warm enviroment.
- Lisa (10/5): - Daviot lodge is one of the most charming B&Bs i have ever stayed in. The breakfast was delicious , varied and generous. The owners are attentive and warm. It was the highlight of our trip!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Charming - Very Nice. Easy walk to town.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Breakfast was amazing, beautiful setting and room.
- Kdh (10/5): - Great location out of the city but not to far to drive.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Loved the property, couldn’t find fault with anything, room was superb and all the wee extras that were put in the room, just made it so homely, breakfast was excellent, and there was a very wide range on the breakfast menu. Great place to chill out, and if you want entertainment Inverness is only a 5min drive. We will definitely return toDaviot Lodge, and would have no hesitation in recommending this place to friends and family, and anyone reading this review. The hosts of the lodge are lovely, and make you feel very welcome the minute you walk in the door and nothing is a problem to them, thank you for making our time with you so pleasurable, only wish we had stayed longer x
- Greg (10/5): - A Bed & Breakfast that surpassed all our expectations.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Lovely property in a rural setting. Meticulously maintained and run. Breakfast had good choice of cereals, fruit etc and the hot meal was perfect. Room wasn’t large but tastefully presented with a good en-suite.
- Richard (10/5): Highly recommended - Perfect location outside Inverness but short journey into town.
Great local walks
Lovely warm welcome, very helpful and an excellent breakfast.
- Peter (6/5): First rate b&b, minus the hospitality - We rang the front bell, well aware this was two hours before posted check-in time, and were met with an icy silent stare. When we asked about our booking and luggage, she said "I don't know who you are." This level of hospitality continued for our one night stay. We are two men sharing a king bedded room. No question the b&b is stellar in every regard that matters, but we left with a uniform feeling of being unwelcome.
- Shelli (10/5): Beautiful place to ayay - Lovely lodge, beautiful rooms with awesome views! The lovely couple who own it went above and beyond to provide us with a great stay. And breakfast is wonderful!
- Verified traveler (10/5): - The best of our 2 week stay in Scotland. Highly recommend a visit here. Our hosts were fabulous and took care of all our needs. The inn is beautiful and breakfast fantastic. We will never forget breakfast in the mornings while watching the birds and pheasants outside the window.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Location was great...in the country but only minutes from Inverness. Service was outstanding. Breakfast was top notch.
- Kurt (10/5): - The Daviot Lodge is a beautiful cottage located in the country just south of Inverness. The facilities are in immaculate condition and the hosts are most welcoming. It has everything you could possibly want from a B&B. Highly recommended!
- Gina (10/5): - The owners were lovely, the room very clean, and the breakfast was delicious. (All the food was local.)
There were goodies in the room and in the lounge area, and even at the top of the stairs.
The area is nice, too. Very quiet and still close to things to do.
- Melissa (10/5): - Wow, what can you even say about a place like this. It was AMAZING and just what you desire while touring through Scotland. The people are incredible and friendly, breakfast was delicious and the room was comfortable with a lovely view of the fields outside. It is well worthy of 5 stars and well worth the stay. My only wish is that we could have stayed longer. I would gladly return on my next visit!
- PT (8/5): - Slightly dated style but this is a lovely house, comfortable and everything you could want and need. Very generous and thoughtful hosts, wonderful stay.
- Verified traveler (10/5): - Beautiful rural setting. Great breakfasts. Alex's sense of humor was much appreciated.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Do stay here - Out in the beautiful countryside and well worth the trip. A beautifully decorated house and was treated grandly. Well worth the cost.
- Alex (10/5): Excellent! - Lovely lodge. Very well kept and classy
- Barb (10/5): - We only stayed one night and chose this accommodation because of the proximity to the airport and the stellar reviews. What a lovely spot in the countryside! We were warmly welcomed by Margaret and found the Lodge spotless and every detail was thought of... hair dryer, fan, iron and ironing board, chocolates, refrigerator, extra blankets, USB ports next to each side of the bed, cold water bottle, tea, coffee and a small carafe of sherry. And that was just in our room! Water pressure and temperature were great in the shower and the bed was comfortable, too. Downstairs there were two separate lounges with games, dvds, TV, books, etc. Breakfast was very good in the morning. Wish we could have stayed longer!
- Ian (10/5): Very good bed and breakfast - The overall stay at the Daviot lodge we excellent, from the room facilities to the comfort of the 2 lounges, I had a bit if difficulty with the shower controls, could not get it to run hot, but still managed to get a shower, I loved the small additions of cake and biscuits, and the sherry in the room, many thanks to Alex and his wife for a great stay
- Diane (10/5): - The property is well kept. The rooms are modern, clean and comfortable. Breakfast is made to order and delicious. The owners are very nice and lovely to chat with. Great B&B - highly recommend!
- Susan (10/5): Relaxed and Comfortable - Hotel prices in Inverness are exorbitant right now, but Daviot Lodge is only three miles out of town and thus considerably cheaper. It was very comfortable and had a pleasant ambience. I loved having a decanter of sherry in the room!
- Tiffan (10/5): - Perfect stay just outside of Inverness during our travels around Scotland. Hospitality was superb and home was very quaint and serene. Just what we needed!
- Alistair (10/5): - everything was first class
- Sandy (10/5): - Fantastic spot out in the country but very close to Cava Cairns and the battlefield yet closer than you might think to Inverness. Quiet, comfortable, spotless and the owners were accommodating and so pleasant! We really enjoyed our stay and breakfast was divine! One of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a long time even at home! Would stay there in a heartbeat if I’m the area again. You will not be disappointed!
- Katie G. (10/5): Lovely - Very peaceful and comfortable.
- Jerry (10/5): Outstanding hospitality - Everyone at Daviot Lodge did everything to make our stay as pleasant and memorable as possible. An excellent hot breakfast with a view of local birds right outside the window. Daily room service ensured that the room was spotless for the entire two week stay. Recommendations about places to see and restaurants were flawless and we were never disappointed. The owners and staff really know what hospitality means.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Lovely rural location. Great breakfast.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Well located to tour entire area around Inverness - This is a place out some ways from the town of Inverness, so you definitely need a car. You had to let them know the time you would arrive, so there was someone there to let you in. We called a few days ahead, and ran about 25 min. late on our arrival date, but no problems. Woman who met us was nice but very reserved. She asked to fill out a short form - rental car plates, etc - then explained how we should fill out a form for what we wanted for breakfast the next morning, by 8 pm that night, and where to put it when done. She took us upstairs and gave us a choice of one of two rooms. We chose a lovely one overlooking a field of cows. Loved hearing them each evening! Room was very spacious, with a decanter of sherry, and some candy, in addition to the regular hot beverage packets. When we returned the first night, after touring, the bed had been turned down and tea lights lit. Very romantic. Breakfast the next morning was very good as well. Would definitely recommend.
- Jon (10/5): - Margaret and Alec are the best hosts in all of Scotland. I would recommend to anyone staying in the Inverness area to leave the city and stay with Margaret. Their breakfast is amazing as well.
- CindyandDennis (10/5): - Perfect 3 dat stay
Thank you
Margaret and Mr Margaret so welcoming
Friendly yet professional
Love their profession which is reflected daily
The little things they do are huge
- Verified traveler (10/5): - What a relaxing experience with so many extra special touches
- Johanna (10/5): An amazing spot! - We really loved our stay! It was a very peaceful and relaxing atmosphere with a wonderful breakfast.
- Lance (10/5): - Lovely proprietors, great homemade breakfast. Clean and comfortable. Would happily return.
- Scott (10/5): Great location and wonderful service - This B+B is located conveniently off the A9. It is perfect for an en route stopover or as a base to explore Inverness and the Moray coast. The property is very comfortable and clean. The owners are incredibly helpful and are extremely friendly.
- infiore7 (10/5): Please don't miss this gem of a place! - The Daviot Lodge was one of my favorites parts of our Scotland trip. A short drive from the hustle and bustle of Inverness, the owners are the best. Nothing is left amiss-- sherry and chocolates for your rooms, several lovely sitting rooms for conversation and reading, and, hands-down, the most delicious Scottish breakfast!!
- Verified traveler (10/5): Perfect in every way - Freindly warm welcome. Very comfortable room.Realy good breakfast.Exellent all round
- Stephen (10/5): First 10 out of 10. - I have run out of superlatives for this place. I have never given a perfect score as I am somewhat critical regarding B&Bs given some less than desirable places I have stayed in before. However, this place deserves a perfect 10 as the rooms are generous, the beds are comfy, breakfast is outstanding and the proprietors are genuinely wonderful people with a sense of humour. If I had been assigned an upstairs room, the score would have dropped a (tiny) bit as I think such information needs to be displayed on websites. I say well done to the owners ofvvthis place.
- Debbie (10/5): Lovely place to stay. - Very close to the Culloden Battlefield. Margaret arranged reservation for us for supper at the restaurant beside the battlefield. Room was amazing. When we returned from supper, the blinds were drawn and tealights lit. We enjoyed the sherry provided in the huge leather chairs in our room as we unwound from the day. Margaret cooked us a lovely breakfast that Alex served. Sorry we could not stay longer to get to know Margaret or Alex but we were heading back to Glasgow.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Fabulous! - Absolutely wonderful! Daviot Lodge is a lovely farm house with fabulous views. Very close to Culloden Moor, Clava Carins, Inverness, and other sites. Mr. and Mrs. H. were warm and generous hosts. Highly recommended.
- Sarah (10/5): Outstanding B&B - This was a once in a lifetime experience for us and this B&B made it magical. Perfect Scottish location and wonderful people. Margaret and Alex put so much love and effort into this home and it shows!! I can't recommend Daviot Lodge enough.
- Peter (10/5): Beautiful countryside bed and breakfast - a beautiful place in the countryside. Great hosts, breakfast etc. Only small issue we had was the bed in the "Ness" room is quite old and we didn't sleep that well. Everything else was very very good. We did see a few of the other rooms and the beds on those looked fine so maybe our room is the last to get a new bed.
- Verified traveler (10/5): Delightful Daviot Lodge - Lovely B&B Close to Inverness. Certainly deserves its 5* rating
- Frank (10/5): Excellent base for Inverness/Loch Ness area. - Wonderful little country spot about 5-10 minutes from the city centre of Inverness. Close to Culloden, Loch Ness, and several distilleries. We were in the largest room which featured a nice sitting area with large windows overlooking the green countryside. Candles every night, a coffee press in the room for private tea time, etc. made for a very comfortable and intimate stay.
- LJ (10/5): Incredible B&B - We loved Daviot Lodge. It is only a short distance from Inverness, just off the A9, easy to find, and well worth it as it is a beautiful home in a beautiful and quiet setting. It is only a few minutes to Culloden. The rooms are beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. Other rooms are also available for use in the house - great places to sit and read the many magazines or books available. The breakfasts are so good with a wide variety of cereal, yogurt and fruit as well as a made to order hot breakfast. There is also tea, coffee, water, shortbread and chocolate available in your room all the time! Margaret and Alex are kind wonderful hosts. We had left a case in the room and they did not hesitate to package it up and courier it to Edinburgh. Amazing all around!
- Andrea (10/5): Best place to stay for Inverness - the property was stunning, breakfast spectacular and the hosts were charming. This is the fastest way to get in and out of Inverness. In the city parking is difficult and the traffic takes lots of time. Staying at Divot lodge makes perfect sense.
- Mhairi (10/5): - Great place to stay
