lorrainec691 (2/5): Hotel in Administration - Hotel in Administration Email received today advising us that our booking cancelled and all deposits/payments are non-refundable We booked through Virgin Experience so now have to try to exchange Thoughts are with everyone who have lost their jobs. Very sad
anneb453091 (2/5): Very disappointing and unsympathetic!!! - Booked a Saturday overnight stay fir my mother's 92 and birthday. Also arranged afternoon tea for 7 of us to include my daughters and their girls Paid £70 deposit. Unfortunately my mother became ill the weekend before our stay. On the Tuesday before our due date to stay, we felt we needed to cancel our stay and tea as mother was too unwell I immediately telephoned the hotel to cancel, in advance of the,Saturday. I was told that the deposit was non-refundable and we could not even re-arrange for another weekend. I was never infirmed that the deposit in writing or on the phone that this was non-refundable and non-transferable. The experience was the same with the two room booking. Not even, a goodwill gesture, to enable us to rebook when mother was well. Her illness also required a GP appointment. I am deeply upset by this experience as at 92 years of age we may not get a chance to manage to do this again. All I can say is beware before booking there.

The attention to detail in all aspects showed the care that the family has taken into making this a warmly welcoming and very comfortable hotel. Delicious breakfast too. demolitionman907 (4/5): totally disappointed with the experience of hotel - booked this as virgin gift experience with chapel down wine tour for my partners gift. booked in at 3 and from the time we booked in nothing but slamming and banging of doors not good when you have fybromyalgia and just want to have quiet night !! room very tired and smelt musty so decided to leave that night at 10; 30 in evening as wasnt going to get any sleep from the noise anyway ! totally disappointed and no reply from the manager either theres a suprise
jono131415 (10/5): Weekend stay visiting Chapel Down - Very nice small hotel, all staff were very friendly, the room was very clean and nice breakfast included in the room price, within easy walking distance of Tenterden town centre and very close driving distance to Chapel Down vineyard. Will use again if in the area
Carmarcar (8/5): Lovely staff - Lovely hotel staff made our stay very enjoyable. Sadly sleep quality not great due to noisy neighbours banging doors and the walls do not keep out noise, although the bed was very comfortable. Also the shower pump going off every couple of minutes kept me awake. As some have said, bathroom in our room could do with an update but was clean and serviceable. Food was good and nicely presented. For an overnight stay it was fine but would not be able to stay longer due to noise issue.
martinhB4036BT (6/5): Average - I was gifted this experience and really looked forward to visiting Chapel Down. I didn’t do much research as this was a package deal. I did decided to upgrade my room in advance as I wanted to enjoy my stay….not sure where that money was spent. Unfortunately I was disappointed with the Hotel, as it was tired, dated and could do with some improvements. Aware it has a 3 star rating but it seemed to have a 4 start price tag. I tried to manage my own expectations from the outset. However, with torn/stained bath rugs, dead flies in windows and the like I feel my review is reasonable. We didn’t sleep great, it’s an old building so creaking floor boards. The breakfast was average but filled us up. On a positive note the receptionist was very friendly and for that I feel bad for this review.
George-Of-Asda (10/5): Great Overnight Stay. - Really great place to stay for a visit to Tenterden. Just needed somewhere to stay overnight in Tenterden and this hotel turned out to be a good choice. It's spotlessly clean and the staff are amazingly friendly and helpful, in fact they're a real credit to whoever owns this place. Whilst the room we had was standard, it was very clean and well equipped. We weren't able to use the garden as the weather was so bad, but it did look a nice place to sit out on nice summer evenings, with a glass of something cheeky!
713wayner (10/5): An absolute gem of a place. What a find! - What an absolute gem of a place! A family run hotel managed by people that really care about the reputation they have worked so hard to build. The place is spotlessly clean, the rooms are very well cared for and the staff are amazingly polite and helpful. We were unable to dine there as we stayed early in the week but breakfast was excellent and contained produce from local businesses. We couldn't fault the place. The hotel itself has a nice, homely feel and is full of character.
IanCSS (6/5): Just OK. Saved by the very nice/ helpful staff. - I guess fairly typical of a non-chain UK country hotel. Everything from the carpets to the shower cubicles look as if they've been there since 1973, and it’s time for an update. Double bed was the smallest I’ve slept in for a long time, pillows desperately need replacing. No aircon, but fan in the room was OK for the ambient temps. We had a snack lunch on arrival which was sort of OK, but please use butter in sandwiches not margarine! Breakfast took an age to arrive, but waiter was very apologetic about the wait. I suspect they only had one member of staff in the kitchen. As a place to stick your head down for a night, acceptable, but you wouldn't want to have to endure an extended stay here. Note very narrow entrance to car park at rear of hotel if you have a wide car. Also, if you need to get somewhere, book your taxis ages in advance (as we did) or you’ve got no chance of getting one at peak times.
Peter (10/5): A friendly getaway in Kent. - Excellent service and value for money. Tenterden, a very short drive away has some excellent eating places. Hotel well situated for exploring the coastline of Kent which was what we went to do.
cliveh354 (8/5): Nice hotel, nice location. - We stayed here midweek whilst on a wine tasting/vinyard experience at nearby Chapel Down. The rooms are very clean and of a good size. Nice garden at the rear and large car park too. Only ate breakfast here but that was nice with plenty of choice. the hotel is also very close to Tenterden which is a lovely Kent down with lots of different types of shops (not necessarily chains) Definately worth a stay if in the area and we would use again.
Suzanna1984 (10/5): Beautiful - Very warm welcome from all staff. Room was cosy. Would benefit from better fitted curtains, they didn’t come together enough to keep the sun out. And perhaps a little longer. But apart from that it was lovely. Bed was comfy, room nice and clean as was the bathroom. Breakfast was good, just the right amount on the full English. I’m not a big eater in the mornings, but that set me up for the day. Obviously there are other options, cereal toast etc. unfortunately, the restaurant wasn’t open in the evening, but there was plenty of other options to choose from in the way of restaurants and takeaways. We decided on the TN30 fish and chips. Which I highly recommend, you will not be disappointed. Overall, was a lovely stay. The hotel itself is beautiful

Sakma23 (6/5): An uncomfortable night - Our trip was a birthday gift. I extended our booking to two nights a paid extra for a better room. We were in room 3 overlooking the garden. A very pleasant room with an updated shower room. We went next door for dinner as the restaurant wasn’t open. All was well until we went to bed. The springs in the mattress were gone and my husband hardly slept because it was so uncomfortable. We asked to change to another room but were told this wasn’t possible as they were fully booked. The supervisor came to look at the bed and suggested flipping the mattress over. We pointed out that this would make no difference. While we were out, at 9.00pm they phoned to say a room had become available so we were able to change when we returned. Before we left we spoke to the manager and asked her to ensure they did something about the mattress as we weren’t the only people to have complained. She told us she wasn’t authorised to buy a new mattress.( We think the manager is also the owner.) Such a pity that a special break was spoiled by such an important thing. A comfortable bed is the most important part of the room. A very disappointing experience.
Louisericketts (10/5): Very friendly, excellent value - We stayed at the hotel as part of a virgin experience deal which also included the chapel down vineyard tour. Upon arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady on reception. I didn’t get her name but she had shoulder length blonde hair. We were made to feel very welcome and told everything we needed to know. The room was adequate but excellent value for what we paid and spotlessly clean. We had dinner in the restaurant as there are not many places nearby unless you want to venture into town again. Not an extensive menu but the food we ordered was beautifully cooked and we had excellent t service in the restaurant. They also serve chapel down wine which went down very well. We had a very comfortable nights sleep. We were in twin room number 2 and had no road noise as others have mentioned. The breakfast was lovely. Choice between a full English, vegan, eggs on toast and porridge. As well as other cereal and yogurt options. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone and feel we got amazing value for money.
186mandyk (8/5): Comfortable, clean and friendly - Excellent and quite large breakfast but the restaurant is not open all the time so check. 1.5 miles into town centre and taxis difficult to get but some nice places to eat. The hotel is comfortable and clean and the staff are excellent and very friendly. The hotel is on a busy road, so ask for a back room if possible.
Exploration688536 (6/5): Standard Budget Hotel - The hotel is fine. Nothing fancy. The rear of the hotel had a pleasant garden, and the well furnished lounge had interesting 1930's brick fireplaces. Our room was the front nearest the road and we chose not to open the widows due to the traffic noise. The room was of a good standard with a nice ensuite but lacked water pressure, and the toiletries were only just about sufficient, but everything was very clean, the bed not uncomfortable and we had a trouser press! We stayed on a Tuesday evening and there was no chef . The breakfast the following morning was disappointing with only basic white and brown bread on offer, and my poached eggs were not soft and served with tinned mushrooms and what tasted like poor quality bacon. We felt that little care had been taken with the meal. But on a positive note the staff were all very lovely!
Sarah310584 (8/5): Xmas present - We stayed here as part of our virgin experience voucher when we toured chapel down winery. I’ve seen some odd reviews of this place that make no sense whatsoever. The hotel was very clean we had a twin room on the ground floor. Yes it’s ‘dated’ but that adds to the charm, it’s not pretending to be a fancy hotel it’s a quaint little guest house. The staff are beyond lovely, bar had a great choice of wine. Food was a little not to my taste but great selection!

beccaw971 (10/5): A comfortable stay! - We stayed here as part of a Virgin Experience with Chapel Down vineyard and had a comfortable stay. All staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was very clean, spacious and very quiet. The room was also serviced during our stay and water, biscuits, tea and coffee were all topped up. We appreciated this. Breakfast was good. The hotel is conveniently located for a short taxi ride to the vineyard and about a 40 minutes walk into Tenterden.
432marya (10/5): A special place. - This was a birthday gift and one that combined a winery visit the next day. The hotel was really lovely, very comfortable, excellent breakfasts and helpful, friendly staff. The garden is pretty and there are areas to sit in and enjoy some relaxation. We loved it.

Ian (8/5): Away for work - Good reception, large choice of venues for evening meal as there was no evening kitchen at hotel. I was leaving before breakfast was served (starts at 7:30 on weekdays), and was provided with a takeaway breakfast. Only negative was there was no lighting in car park, so very difficult to navigate to vehicle going out to evening meal.

michael (10/5): What A Find - I will keep this short, but could go on and on.. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, and has been updated, marrying the old features with modern living. The staff were all great, nothing was ever to much trouble. The food in the restaurant in the evening was first class, I had lamb from the menu which was superb.. Breakfast was also really well cooked, the eggs were perfect (well done chef) My room was clean well appointed and ample space, everything was excellent quality modern and in pristine condition. My only regret is that it is a part of the world I don't go to very often so will not return often. Overall, you will not find a better and nicer place to stay.
Alison (10/5): Lovely stay! - Disabled husband and there is no lift but he can use stairs and there are double rails to the Silver Suite. Superb room, lovely helpful staff, missed breakfast as it finished at 9am but otherwise perfect stay for us. Local taxi was excellent also.
Silva (2/5): Very disappointing hotel - dont go ! - Disappointed with the whole experience. Apart from at checkin there were no staff on hand at any other time. We called down 4 times and no one answered the phone. We went to reception and waited 10 mins - rang the bell - and no one came to help. The room was basic at best - it was too hot and there was no way to control the temp other than to leave windows open. Basic only served from 7.30am-9am - very short window and there was no way of arranging for alternatives. The only reason we stayed there was its proximity to Chapel Down winery ! Will never stay again.

Dens (4/5): Adequate - Adequate. Marketed as a country hotel. This veneer only reveals a Motel. Service. Was learning on the job, which considering the price is not acceptable. Room. Cheap 4 poster bed ( for country house illusion ) with 2 extra beds as well. I think their main business is the lucrative wedding market with lots of beds large dining areas and photo op garden. For £155 it is an expensive motel max £100.

They were very accommodating with an early lunch as we were going on an early wine tasting tour, nothing was too much trouble. Our bed was a bit creaky, needs a mattress replacement but other than that everything else was very good and relaxing

Louise (8/5): mixed reviews... - We stayed for 1 night whilst visiting friends in the area. Check in was fantastic, Russel (I think that’s his name) was very friendly and accommodating, sourcing a travel cot for us and showing us around. The room itself was ok, decor was dated and some fittings looking tired. The bed was slightly firmer than we preferred, but bedding was clean and comfortable. The shower was sadly very poor, lacking power and needing a new shower head. We also discovered that the hair dryer wasn’t working. Breakfast was good, in particular the hot chocolate which was delicious! We each had a full English and could have had cereal, yoghurt and fruit also. There was very minimal staff (we only saw one person who we served us breakfast and checked us out) so service wasn’t the fastest, but we can overlook this being the Christmas period. The building itself is full of character but the decor needs some updating. Overall the stay was comfortable but I’m not sure we would visit again.
John (10/5): Great hotel and good value - I stayed just one night here on business but would definitely stay again. My room was fantastic - large, clean and very comfortable. The food was great too and the member of staff who welcomed me and served dinner was extremely friendly. I look forward to staying there again and highly recommend it.

Darren (10/5): Hidden Gem of a Hotel - A little gem of a place, ideal for the Tenterden Steam Railway (6mins away). The staff are so friendly and helpful and its set in lovely grounds. We got a free upgrade to room 6 (4 poster bed!) as they had someone cancel. We didnt have dinner here but the breakfast was very nice and plenty of it. (only a small note, breakfast should be till 10 at weekends, not 9am!). Our room was spacious and overlooked the garden area, the bed was comfortable and good size bathroom with shower and Jacuzzi bath. Lovely stay, thanks to all the staff and we'll be booking again.

Charlotte (10/5): Hidden gem nestled in the Garden of England... - Little Silver Country Hotel is truly a hidden gem nestled in the Garden of England! Being a frequent solo female business traveller, at times when staying away from home I do feel quite vulnerable but Oliver and his team could not do enough for me during my 3 night stay and made me feel so welcome and at ease. On 2 of the mornings I had to leave for work before breakfast started so was given a breakfast box as a replacement so I wasn’t starting the day on an empty tummy. When I did do down for breakfast, there was ample variety to choose from. Evening meals there is also a good choice and all produce is locally sourced. My room (15) overlooked the grounds and was extremely comfortable! I would strongly recommend this hotel for anyone looking to stay in the Tenterden and surrounding areas!

Verified traveler (10/5): Recommended for a good quiet stay - Very nice hotel, clean and in good repair, shower room clean, modern and fresh. Very friendly staff, reception even carried bags to room. Breakfast was piping hot and a reasonable size with good produce. We were on a tight schedule in the morning but we're served quickly and efficiently by our server. Warm and comfortable overnight. We would stay here again if we need a hotel in this area.
