Guest Reviews
- Lucas M (10/5): - The room was nice. A little dated but I liked it. The staff was awesome. Jenny was amazing. Would definitely stay again
- Justine (8/5): - Will definitely go back!
- Joseph (4/5): - I really was skeptical of Gunner's almost from the start. It didn't seen at all like a good place to stay. The place is all locked up and there is no front lobby where someone is at the desk at all times to answer questions etc. I didn't feel safe being there but we did stay for the whole time we paid for. I tripped on the first day because the concrete step to the landing was too high (higher than a normal size step) resulting in a scraped shin drawing blood. The bathtub leaks and the toilet doesn't flush correctly, having to flush several times to get all the toilet paper etc. to go down. We didn't want to have our room cleaned up every day (on purpose), so we put the sign on the door. It was enough to just have it cleaned after we left and we left a tip for them on the dresser. It felt like rooms for a night and get out kind of place - with all the mirrors in the room. The picture at the top of this page was not anything like our room. We are both in our late 70's, almost 80. The fridge froze what we put in it overnight. We didn't have to pay for the parking which was a good thing. Sorry for the bad review. It was dirty, not the room itself but insides of the building, steps, windows etc. That high concrete step in the back need to be fixed along with the leaking water in the tub and the toilet flusher. There should be someone all the time at a front desk to communicate with. :(
- Bonnie (10/5): - rooms were clean some bathroom fixtures could use attention Parking lot messy
- Sandra (10/5): - Staff are always very friendly and helpful.
Property rooms are in need of fixing. Our room smelled of old smoke.
- John (4/5): - Nice staff free snacks and drinks, close to bar.
- Suzanne (8/5): - The restaurant and service was very good.
The metal parts outside were rust and deteriorating.
- Rose (8/5): Check in girl was very nice and accommodating - The girl who checked us in was extremely nice.
the room was about a step above camping. We had clean towels but there was a bar of soap in the shower from last people. Water was nice and hot though. Beds not comfortable at all. there were four of us and 3 left with backaches. one brought a yoga mat to lay on over the bed so that helped. the TV got 3 channels, maybe 5 but no cable. You can get netflix though and that stuff if you sign in under your account. (remember to sign out). It's actually a bar, so they come in at noon or something. through the night no one is there and parking meters are throughout the parking lot but you don't have to pay over night till 7 AM. The girl was nice and accommodating but truthfully, I think I would spend more for a better hotel next time. Overall, it was fine for what we needed, which was just an inexpensive place to sleep. The refrigerator in my room was fine, but the other friend's room was loud that they pulled the plug. Oh, speaking of plugs, the outlet by the night stand didn't work. If you need 3 star or above, this isn't the place for you. If you're not fussy at all and just happy for a place to crash for a night, this is reasonably priced.
- Nicole (10/5): - Always fantastic!
- Nicole (10/5): - People are amazing from owners to bartenders and waitstaff! I always have a fantastic experience every time I stay here! They are all down to earth people with huge hearts and alway a welcoming smile! The food is fabulous!!!
- Nicole (10/5): - Always super friendly! Make you feel very welcome! Food is great!
- Verified traveler (6/5): - Owners put us in a room with no window. We asked for a room change and did not even receive an answer, let alone a room change.
- Julia (10/5): - Nice place needs updates
- Sherry L (6/5): - The bar and atmosphere was nice, but until they opened you had no way of asking questions and the gentleman that was there...when I knocked on the door was rather rude.
- Noreen (10/5): - very nice place to stay, very friendly people!
- Robert (10/5): - It was a nice stay and convenient.
- John (10/5): - Great front desk help
- Mergeline (8/5): - It was exactly what we were looking for - a comfortable, clean place to sleep after a day of driving around the countryside during peak leaf season and elk rut. The staff was friendly and helpful.
- Mike (8/5): - it's old,but was comfortable.because of the pandemic there was nothing going on.scenery is beautiful.
- Mark (8/5): - Staff did a great job. The food in the dinning/bar area was excellent. Rooms and building needed updated .
I guess for the money it was okay.
- Phil Cromer (6/5): - No ice machine, no microwave or fridge called front desk no one answered
- Verified traveler (8/5): the price is right - It was a good room for the price. Cleaner than i expected but nothing amazing. the ac/heat was the only issue, it was kinda loud and hard to adjust.
- Johnd (10/5): - Awesome staff best food perfect easy access parking cant wait to come back Steven great cook as are the rest
- Johnd (10/5): - Convenience with awesome restaurant bar staff . Cozy rooms easy parking great staff nicest place youll find and vary inexpensive
- Thomas (8/5): - No comment
- Verified traveler (4/5): - The bed was broken, the lamp didn’t work, the shower had mold growing in it and everything was horribly dingy and outdated.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - We were in room 201 and while it was a nice room, the refrigerator didn't work. We didn't notice it on Friday night, we didn't have anything to put in it. I made a lot of noise everytime the compressor kicked in. On Saturday night, we were going to put a small bottle of chocolate milk and some sodas for our next day traveling around Benezette and it wasn't cold. We unplugged it because of that, didn't need to listen to the compressor again if it wasn't working. Was going to leave a note, but there wasn't any paper or pens in the room and I didn't have any in my purse (very unusual). The plumbing was a bit loud, we could hear the room next to ours everytime the water was turned on or the toilet flushed. Other than that, we had a good stay, we weren't expecting the Hilton, but a working fridge would have been nice. We will stay there again. The room was clean and the price was right.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Was a very busy weekend with a festival. Suspect they were a bit over whelmed.
- Verified traveler (4/5): - No windows. TV only got 7 stations
furniture old. would not recommend it. However the bar and restaurant were nice
Staff was very friendly.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - Staff was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely stay again in the future.
- Michael (8/5): - Everyone was very nice...food was excellent!
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Good news was that the AC worked well on 95 degree days. Bad news is that 1965 called and wanted their hotel room back.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - For the price this was a nice property. It was clean and I liked tbe soap a d shampoo. The restaurant was teally good.
- Greg (8/5): clean, quiet, cheap - 3 star motel at a 3 star price. if your expecting a 5 star room for $60 you probably should not be traveling.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - quiet, staff is extremely helpful and friendly, nice little town
- Kevin (8/5): - A great place in a great city lots to see in the town on the mountain
- Brandy (10/5): - Its listed as having breakfast. It doesnt offer breakfast. Was def an inconvenience
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Disappointed with our check in we had to get the hostess at the bar, she was talking and said she would be right with us .... she forgot about us. I had to go track her down again.
No breakfast at all as stated on our reservations and also in person at check in
- CB (6/5): - I loved the location, free parking and the onsite restaurant was absolutely AWESOME! But it was advertised as a free continental breakfast and that was not true. We ended up spending $26 on breakfast somewhere else.
- Ralph (6/5): Location is the only thing going for it. - Room was shabby, especially the bathtub!
- Elizabeth (10/5): Thumbs up - Awesome place
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The rooms were clean & a friendly staff greeting at check in. The restaurant & bar attached served amazing food & provided a a whole variety of food & beverages to choose from.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - St Marys is an quaint old town which I have been visiting relatives since the 60s as a child. Gunners is quaint and old also. Comparing hotel room prices, Gunners room price was much better than the others. We were pleasantly surprised . Old yes, but very clean with a very comfortable mattress. And that we stayed right above a very nice bar / restaurant was a plus. Good food, drink, and people. The front desk lady was a pleasure to meet. Will definitely stay there next time . She put out a very nice continental breakfast.
- Earl (8/5): Gunners stay - It was enjoyable and adequate for a trip. Having knee problems created some difficulties. Realizing this is an existing building, it was difficult to get to our second floor room without an elevator. However, the Owner took care of our needs personally.
- Verified traveler (8/5): - The shower was wonderful - pulsating water felt excellent after a long day of hiking!
- Michael (8/5): - We enjoyed this quaint and comfortable hotel. St. Mary's is also a lovely place.
- Verified traveler (6/5): - couldn't adjust heater/ac properly got up several times during the night
to adjust it. Curtains were not as picture shows
- Donna (8/5): - The bathroom was too small but other than that everything was fine
- Mj (10/5): - This hotel is definitely dated. There is no elevator and no fancy key card BUT the room was clean, had a bath, shower and tub. There was a refrigerator and coffee pot, iron, and hair dryer. There was a flat screen TV and when we had trouble figuring out the cable, they sent two people to the room to fix the problem, even though it was after 11 pm. The air conditioner kept the room comfortable all night. The sheets were clean with no spots. There was a continantial breakfast and we were welcomed by a friendly staff. Will definitely stay there again!
- Justin (6/5): Need a softer mattress - Had to track down the front desk clerk, beds were extremely hard, but it was a lower price than the rest, and I am cheap so can’t complain to much.
