Guest Reviews
- Thomas (2/5): - The room was horrible. Homes in the blankets. And there was a roach in the room. We checked out and did not stay in the hotel for more than 5 minutes. Horrible place. Will never go back and never recommend to anyone.
- Erdenebayar (2/5): - Dirty, filthy, don't come in if you're coming from a foreign country, there are no blankets
- Juan (2/5): - 0/5
- john (8/5): - It was a bussiness trip I have stayed there multiple times and always has been good
- marvin (10/5): - Is a quiet place
- Kevin (10/5): - Staff is always great and very welcoming. I've been an off and on guest throughout the years. The lodge accomodates the privacy of all guests and have provided me a safe good night's sleep. They are located minutes from Huntington Metro and are one bus away from the station. Thank you for all your help, kindness and hospitality. I appreciate it,
Kevin Rollins
- William (10/5): - Old-fashioned motel that brought back great memories of when America was GREAT. It was quiet, clean, and saved me a lot of money. I wish there were more places like this in America. Now, everything is so corporate and bland. The owner, who checked me in, was helpful and friendly.
And by the way, the neon sign is magnificent.
- Abiye (10/5): - It was good
- a (8/5): - Convenient to the function I was attending. Excellent price
- Ashton (4/5): - The staff was very nice, but the room was not the cleanest
- Brenda (6/5): - Smelly room
- Anthony (6/5): - Average stay condition looks below Ave
- Evelyn (2/5): Roaches! - The place was very unclean and entering my room. There was roaches on the bed. I was uncomfortable at all times. I have a phobia of roaches. It was just a very horrible day.
- Anthony (10/5): - Pretty good
- Abdulwaheed (10/5): Nice job - It was nice and great place and near today train stop was very clean and the people was nice and kind I would like to thank them.
- Gregory (8/5): - I come here for spiritual maintenance, so its ok for me
- Maria (4/5): - To dirty
- Octavius (2/5): - I didn't have a TV to watch for a whole day..no one serviced the TV.. I was not compensated for the issue and harassed at check out time on a 2 night stay
- Kevin (4/5): Amusement park - Room 164 should be a storage space. It’s too close to the Taj of India Restaurant. My wall is their wall. Constant noise like stacking trays and dishwashing . There is zero soundproofing between room 164 and the extreme banging of the business next door. Sounds like pure drywall and nothing else. I thought after a couple of mentions to front desk that this noise was just several minutes not several hours. How can this room be called hospitality accommodations when the occupant of the room is bombarded with workplace noise. I would politely demand a refund of booking and or a free days stay. Any inspector of this Room 164 Virginia Lodge can easily agree with me just by staying a few hours during restaurant opening to close. Its terrible. I like the layout of the room. You would sleep better if you were in someone’s backyard with music talking and barbecue grilling going on. My name is Kevin. The staff is extremely humble and helpful like family. I like them and will continue to support this business but not from Room 164
- Verified traveler (2/5): - The bedding had holes in it and wasn't properly washed. The bathroom was filthy and clearly hadn't been cleaned.
- Nick (6/5): - House keeping knocked on the door and woke us up even though they know we have not checked out yet and they didn't have "do not disturb" sign to leave at the door
- Daniel (2/5): - Great place to get murdered. Bad place to sleep. Neighbor was on a drug trip, terrible smoke smell in the room, the sheets were stained and bed was very uncomfortable. The shower had paint stains and toilet was leaking during every flush. There was a person screaming at the top of his lungs next door. And someone was knocking on the wall then banging on my door. I double locked the door and put the chair on it.
- Sakil (6/5): - Good overall
- George (10/5): - As Advertised
- Alison (6/5): - Was grateful to get a room at 10pm, after a previous reservation fell thru, and I appreciated the price was reasonable. Check-in was pleasant.
However, room was dingy and felt unsafe. The first time I have put a chair under the doorknob in decades.
- mark (4/5): - The price was right but not cleanliness, the poor amenities. Trouble with the TV but staff did help immediately.
- NeoTech (8/5): - Its a classic!
- Devon (2/5): - Trash hotel bugs in room TV barley worked
- Meriem (2/5): - The hotel was okay. Nothing special, but it did the job for a short stay.
- Wendell (2/5): - My family and I were very disappointed with the quality of this hotel seeing as it had a 7.7 rating. Had I not paid for the whole stay up front we would've moved to another place. Asked for an iron and never received it. There was a bed sheet over the mattress. Under that mattress was stains and cigarette holes. In no way could the ratings be real people who stayed at this establishment.
- Darryl (10/5): - I have stayed at this hotel dozens of times I like how quite it i andhow close the hotel is to everything
- Constance (10/5): - It was extremely good
- Stephanie (2/5): - This place was absolutely digusting and filthy!! We checked in, looked at our room, then went and booked a room in another hotel. Thank heaven for Expedia because, the hotel staff did not want to refund us any money at all. DO NOT BOOK HERE!!
- MINH (6/5): - The room is okay, given the cheap price.
- Shirley (10/5): - Everything was good with my Godson’s stay.
- Raul (2/5): - The room smelled horrible, I think it was the carpet!
The bed sheets were stained and also smelled bad.
I understand that hotels find it more convenient to have carpets in their rooms, but the problem is that carpets trap bad odors, and if you don't clean them properly, the smell stays

- Franklin (10/5): - Excellent customer service
- ANDREW (8/5): - It's ok there's nothing really unique because the property been up over 50 years but what's really unique that is still standing.
- laura (2/5): - This is place was a dump lied on there picture holes in the sheet no mattress pad the staff was so rude there was a couple fighting since 6am the man was hitting her and the staff did nothing
- Daniel (2/5): - Not good service.
- Isabella (2/5): Worst motel I’ve ever stayed at - Room was filthy, hair on washcloth and in the shower. Was worried about getting bed bugs the whole time
- Shamun (8/5): An honest review - Good staff, clean room, safe location, good breakfast.
- J.E. (4/5): - I thought that the reception person was very good. I had an issue with the television that was fixed very quickly, largely due to the maintenance staff.
- Davidson (10/5): - Nice place
- Seth (2/5): - Looked like bed bugs on mattress stains all over aint worth it go to motel 6 for same price way more clean.
- Susan (10/5): - The rooms are clean & comfortable. The price is right through Hotels.com
- Susan (10/5): - For a clean safe place to sleep this is the affordable ticket!
- Abdelkrim (2/5): - The room smells bad no billow I don’t like it
- Verified traveler (4/5): - Rotten food in the mini fridge and overall just filthy. Not a good experience.
- Regina (8/5): - The only recommendation I would make is to hire a person to plow the parking lot when it snows.
- Shantell (10/5): - The hotel was conveniently located coming into the city. Everyone I met on staff were very friendly and helpful.
The restaurant experiences were excellent as well.
- Aaron (8/5): - The staff are so nice.
- Fred (2/5): - Smell terrible as soon you enter to the lobby. Rooms looks old and dirty. If you don’t care where to sleep is a perfect place to stay.
- Lyle (8/5): - The bed was comfortable, the room was a nice size and fairly quit place to stay.
- German (4/5): - The room smell horrible, I found hair on the sheets
- Dorrian (8/5): Comfortable enough - The room was decent but there were things that could be improved, such as the chairs had major stains on them. I didn't want to touch them. Everything else was okay. Workers were very nice though
- Waliur (4/5): - So cleanthliness was the biggest issue.
The whole room smelled like cigarettes, and the sink was in the room not bathroom. It was also clogged. The blanket also had stains, looked like cigarette marks along with the chairs.
We only stayed one night even though we booked two. Left early because we couldn't stay another night.
I gave two instead of one because the staff were kind and the bathroom was actually very clean.
The biggest issue was the smell, the cleanthliness of the room and the sink being clogged, very gross.
This was a last minute booking. I do unfortunately will never be returning to this location.
- Nysear (4/5): - It had roaches.
- Georgia (6/5): - They don't properly clean
- David (8/5): - Very affordable.
Clean room.
Very quiet
Friendly, helpful front desk employee(s)
- rebecca (10/5): - Nice sized, clean rooms. Staff is friendly. They keep the outside noise to a minimum. Very nice!
- Zehra (4/5): - There was strange cigarette smell in our room which took hours to vent out. My blanket had cigarette stain as well. Won’t be staying again.
- Rosalba (6/5): - No hangers available.
- Sahar (2/5): - Cccccx
- Chin (8/5): - The Virginia whatever the name is
No soap,funny smell
Otherwise quite nice
- Shirazuddin (10/5): - A nice clean and affordable place
- Briana (6/5): - It was conveniently located near the metro which was a plus. The comforter had holes in it which was off putting and the shower had coins in it which was weird because why didn’t the cleaning staff pick those up.
- Afrah (2/5): - I did not check in
- Roy (6/5): VL Alexandria - This motel is very tired however it was fully booked likely due to the price. There is no easy chair in the room. A table & 2 straight chairs. No desk and thus poor light for writing. The carpet was stained in our room. The bathroom is small. Minimal towels available for use. Not the greatest experience.
- James (8/5): - Safe
- James (10/5): - It was nice
- Danyiel (10/5): - Great place, great prices.
- Brittany (4/5): Clean but beds not comfortable - Had to fix tv, king bed had two pillows and they had no fluff to them. Very clean, pleasant check in amd out. Due to discomfort of the bed and lack of pillow and blankets, woke up every two hours.
- Danyiel (10/5): - Everything was good
- Danyiel (10/5): - For the price it is a good value
- Breyuanna (10/5): - My hideaway spot from society! I always enjoy my stay at the Virginia Lodge. It’s quiet, and relaxing. Only thing that I didn’t like about the stay is the bathroom. I asked for a room for a bathtub so that I could soak. The tub didn’t have a stopper. Also, the shower didn’t work properly. Overall, I was able to enjoy my thanksgiving getaway. I was able to store my home cooked food in the refrigerator. I was also able to heat up my food using the microwave. Any time I stay I always get a smoking room. My hidden gem in Alexandria !
- Raymond (10/5): - Customer service is good
- Mohammad (4/5): - Humidity is high
- Verified traveler (6/5): Poor stay - The reviews about this property are misleading. Several people rated their stay as good or even exceptional, however that is not true. The lobby has cracked floor tiles, trash on the ground and the employee is behind bulletproof glass. The room was dingy, with a dirty door, no hangers, no hand towels, paper thin bath towels and a lumpy, old mattress. It is too bad, because with some effort, cleaning and care, this could be a charming place. It is a wreck and the worst place we stayed on our trip.
- David J (6/5): - Had a great Indian cuisine restaurant attached. Property needs a competent maintenance team for continuous upgrades.
- Samuel (2/5): - I made reservation for a NON SMOKING ROOM but I was given a smoked one which made my breathing very uncomfortable.
- David (4/5): - was a pig stye
- Cameron (10/5): Well worth it - It was a really nice place for the price, infact I've stayed at more expensive places that weren't as nice. I wasn't looking for luxury, just did clean, quiet place to sleep for the night and this was more than I expected! The service was very simple too, easiest check in I've ever had
- Danyiel (10/5): - Its a good place for the price and very accommodating
- Lisa (8/5): - The bed was too hard for me personally. But overall satisfied.
- Verified traveler (8/5): A face lift will do! - It's no need in complaining cause it ain't like they are listen to what anybody suggest anyways. But hey I guess you get what you pay for I can't wait to get my own. But to be absolutely honest a face lift will do the Virginia Lodge very well. Stop trying to live like the Jones' its ok to be different.
- Jimmie (4/5): -
The room was supposed to be non-smoking. I opened the door the smoke hit you in the face. I tried another room it had a bad odor. I stay in the smoke smelling room.
I went to sleep and noticed all the cigarette burns in the comforter and the sheet several cigarette burn holes. The price should have been $50 a night. Not a good experience.
- Cindy (2/5): - Basically looks like somewhere drug addicts would stay. Room was dirty and smelled horrible. I was afraid to even sit on any of the furniture there. Only booked as a last resort, would not recommend at all.
- Emad (6/5): - Nothing wrong but need more cleanness
- Katherine (4/5): - It felt dirty
- Verified traveler (4/5): Not so great - While going into the bathroom to disinfectant everything i noticed that the toilet was dirty. Not wanting to be bothered i just cleaned it. The rest of the day went pretty okay but a few hours before i checked out the following day i saw a cockroach going up the wall in the sink area. I heavily sprayed it with the disinfectant and killed it. I ended up checking out a day before i was suppose to
- 688dmitrir (2/5): Never again - We went with friends to Washington for cherry blossoms in the period 03.24-26.2023 (we booked two rooms). We stayed in this "hotel" The Virginia Lodge.
In the evening I got ready to go to bed and removed the bedspread I found crumpled bed linen. But after I saw the someone's hair and crumbs of dirt on the supposedly fresh clean bed linen, I slept dressed. No one changed this bed linen, it was just refilled. Otherwise, how to explain such an amount of hair on a supposedly clean, fresh bed linen?
The bed linen is full of cigarette holes, although it says that the rooms are non-smoking. But there was a smell of cigarettes in the rooms, they smelled of all things. Keep this in mind if it's important to you. There are dried insects on the windows. I attached a photos.
- Zakia (10/5): - Very dirty
- Mahdi (10/5): - It was comfortable
- Kelvin (10/5): - Nothing special!
- MARCELO ENRIQUE (6/5): - The room is considerably big and equipped in an old building that needs a lot of improvement and maintenance. The carpet was super dirty and there was a terrible smell of cigarette in the room. The location is OK because the metro is about 20 minutes walking but the area feels unsafe and definitely not walkable after dark. It is around 1h by metro from Washington DC Downtown.
- Peter (8/5): - Excellent staff support
- Madhu (6/5): - Fairly ok
- Linda (8/5): - They is clean just not enough channels on tv.
